Opinions de The Red Boat Arbutus
Excellent food from a humble shop. We dropped in here to get a large order of food for a nearby conference at one of the hotels. Restaurant is clean, simply and tastefully decorated, and comfortable while waiting. Host was gracious, polite, and agreeable to us dropping in unannounced with a group order. Food is excellent, a simple menu with interesting fusion options. The K-Town dog was a hit with our meat eating friends. Lychee tea was a stand out treat, an excellent sweet drink to pair with the savory food. Our take out order was well packaged and we were back at the conference feeding hungry folxs. Strongly recommended for a good meal at an excellent price point.
This place is fantastic. My best friend and I spoke of this place neither had been there so we decided the next day to have lunch here. We walked in very spacious Wendy took our order very friendly asked if we had been there before. Since we hadn’t she explained some of the items. We had the chicken Lemongrass Tacos, fried chicken and shrimp spring rolls and Chicken Pho & meatball pho. Everything was so delicious I’m a bit embarrassed to say I live In the building it is attached too for sometime and missed this place but won’t ever make that mistake again. Do yourself a favor.
After visiting the Lexington market This was an amazing little stop! The food was good. The service was great. I cannot wait to take my date here! This is a good place to study for school as well along with having some yummy food! I came here today because it was so cold outside. I wanted some soup. Little did I know that I only do. They have great soup. They have good people working there and they have other good items too. I couldn’t help myself. I may have overindulged this time so I promised myself next time it will just be two things lol My friends and I had a great time!!
Perfect spot for lunch! Had a great shrimp roll and the beef tacos. Will come back when in Baltimore
food is amazing, wendy is a joy and an amazing owner! pho is flavorful and hot, summer rolls are fresh
The pho here was amazing !! definitely on my top 2 in baltimore city. If your in the city i would 100% recommend coming to red boat !!
I love everything about this restaurant. I visit at least twice a week, and it never disappoints. You really can’t go wrong with a pho bowl here if that’s what you’re craving—authentic, flavorful, and very tasty. Wendy, Adeline, and Nate are the best and always make the experience even better. Lots of seating for large groups, a great place to dine with family and friends. Red Boat truly makes you feel like you’ve discovered a special spot.
The food was quick and delicious. Ms. Wendy was very kind and had a great recommendation of the Korean Beef Bulgogi Sandwich
If you're craving authentic Vietnamese flavors, this place is an absolute must-visit! From the moment you step inside, the cozy and welcoming atmosphere sets the stage for a wonderful dining experience. The menu offers a fantastic range of traditional Vietnamese dishes, each prepared with fresh, high-quality ingredients. The Pho here is undoubtedly a standout—rich, aromatic broth with tender slices of beef or chicken, and perfectly cooked noodles. The garnishes of fresh herbs, bean sprouts, and lime really bring everything together. Whether you're a pho connoisseur or a newcomer to the dish, it’s sure to impress. The Banh-mi sandwiches are absolutely best of all the cuisine. The lemongrass chicken is delicious along with banh-mi with garnished coriander and daikon. The service is also top-notch. The staff is friendly, attentive, and eager to help guide you through the menu if you're unsure what to order. The portions are generous, and prices are more than reasonable considering the quality and authenticity. Overall, this Vietnamese restaurant has everything you need for an amazing meal: delicious food, great ambiance, and stellar service. Highly recommend!
Everything in this place is absolutely delicious. The Capetown hotdog is my absolute favorite. The fresh kimchi the beef Bulgogi. Omg THE PHOOOOOOOOOO IS PIPING HOT AND FULL OF FLAVOR
Bun Bo Hue was excellent. Broth rich flavorful, comes with brisket and good quality meatballs, not the chewy fat meatballs that some Vietnamese place give you. They allowed me to substitute eye round steak instead of brisket. No charge. Otherwise extra meat is $5. Got food really fast. And they exceeded my and my vegetarian wife's expectations. Also had bulgogi platter (pic) another visit. Meat was great. Cabbage was great. Wife (and I) loved her veg pho (pic) which is essentially a thai Tom Yum (lemongrass ) soup with vegies. She added tofu which is in that small bowl (pic). Tofu spring roll were better than I expected. Tofu was intentionally overcooked to make it a little more dense like chicken and it actually had some flavor as opposed to other places we've experienced. Some city riff raff came in and hassled staff on our first visit. Even across from the Hippodrome unfortunately still some desperate people floating around.
I was pleasantly surprised and impressed by the flavor, freshness, quality and authenticity of the bun bo hue and banh mi. After living in Malaysia and traveling to Vietnam, it has been hard to find good Vietnamese in the area. The herbs provided for the soup were so authentic and fresh. The lemon grass chicken banh mi was so tasty and fresh. The baguette was really good too. Honestly the whole meal was a euphoric experience and I hope to order again.
They have vegan Pho! Actually, they made a lemongrass broth with all the Pho fixings... I'm pretty sure nobody in Vietnam would call it legit, but what is a vegan to do when he's craving beef both?! It was served extra hot and I had enough to eat until I was full and take the other half home. I intend on going back! The interior is small, clean, and cute.
So it’s Cinco de Mayo and we waited too long to order from our usual Mexican haunts in Hampden so in the age of Covid we went on to Uber Eats to see where we could find a place for a taco alternative. What we found was a hidden gem of culinary fusion & deliciousness. We shared Coconut Shrimp, Spring Rolls, Bulgogi Tacos, Chicken Lemongrass Tacos and the Saigon Dog with pickled Daikon. Honestly it’s hard to say what was the best. It was all so good. Try it...you’ll love it 😋
The good: the food is pretty tasty. Unfortunately that's really the only redeeming factor. The price is high for the portion size. Just as an example, bottles of water are $3. And the fried spring rolls - which are smaller than a $1.50 egg roll you'd get at a Chinese takeout place - are also $3 a piece. You'll get much much better value at the nearby Maiwand or Qdoba. They don't have working bathrooms. That fact is made all the worse when they give you a straw coated in something sticky, and there's no place to wash your hands. The whole store is generally in junky shape. I asked to pay some portion of the bill with cash and the rest with a card. The guy said we'd have to handle the card portion first, then after charging the card he reveals that he put the full bill on the card and didn't know how to include the cash. And after the generally poor service, they have the gall to offer you the option to tip 30% at a spot where you order from a counter and seat yourself. Overall, I recommend avoiding the spot.
Pho is definitely “different” They might use a powder, you can tell from barely any fat residue in the broth, if that's what you like. It was bland. $16.91 for a small bowl of pho Tai, meh pho place I have ever been too as well as the fact they combined the bean sprouts, Thai basil with “to go” condiments in a bag for a meal eaten in the establishment. Baltimore has been trying to revamp Lexington Market for decades and it still looks like crap from when I was child. But yea the pho is okay.
The food is good, but the customer service is terrible. I have been coming to this restaurant for over four years and have recommended it to my coworkers, family, and friends. During my most recent visit, the woman working the window told me she had never seen me before, simply because she got my order wrong. she was talking very fast, cutting me off during my order and she just honestly didn’t understand herself. There was obviously a language barrier with her, but instead, if you know that you have a problem, understanding customers that you should take your time when they are taking our order and be more patient with them instead of cutting them all and you would’ve got the order right…. it’s about doing good business and having good customer service and taking accountability when you are wrong. I spent nearly $70 in one visit with my daughter, expecting to enjoy a nice dinner together. Instead, I was questioned about how long I’ve been coming to this establishment and told that the order I placed was incorrect—as if I didn’t know what I ordered. I specifically asked for the spicy beef soup, I even came back to the window to specify but I was told it would be put on the side, which is not what I requested. This experience isn’t just about a misunderstanding with the food—it’s about how customers are treated especially as a woman of color. I am not happy with how I was treated, Rather than listening, you argued with me about my own order, questioned me about if I ever dined here After four years of dining here, that level of disrespect is enough for me to never return.
It was my first time ordering from here and I dont think id ever order from here again. ._. It probably isn't their fault that uber took 2 hours, but to have 2 missing items and the portion be so small for the price was kind of unacceptable. So, im not really happy. Disappointing tbh
The pho was not hot when I received it. When I told the owner she said I did not eat it fast enough. They serve the lime and bean sprouts in a small plastic bag. No basil or other herbs/vegetables. They charge a dollar if you decide you want to take home in a container. The bulgogi comes in a small portion.
