Definitely one of the better places to eat in the food court. First of all the staff are super friendly and helpful. They offer free samples for their drinks and are very welcoming. The menu has something for everyone and the food is quite good. The portions are large and affordable priced.
The staff was friendly, they also give small samples of there Agua frescas . The cooks, thank you for the fresh ingredients and the freshly prepared hot food. The only thing is, it's in a mall.
While walking around the mall, I saw some people walking around with giant baby bottles. I was immediately intrigued and wanted one as well. I found them at the food court, and it felt like a party! Everyone was super friendly, and offered everyone samples! They gave me suggestions as to what to mix, which ones were popular and to try flavors I never would have tried! My favorite was the mango and watermelon, it was very refreshing. If you purchase a baby bottle or duck, they even give you a voucher for a free refill! Their menu consists of a variety of items, ranging from fun festival food to Mexican food. We decided to try the steak fries and the steak fajitas. The steak fries were topped with a generous portion of sliced steak and delicious cheese. The steak fajitas smelled wonderful! I loved how flavorful the meat was, very well seasoned and really good, even the Mexican rice was delicious. Can’t wait to come back and try the spiral potatoes and the other Aguas Fresca flavors!
Wow! Delicious aqua Fresca in so many flavors. The potato swirl was really yummy too. The free sample really helped decide what flavor. Vanessa was so sweet and kind. She checked and the potatoes and fish are not fried in the same oil. Ten out of ten totally recommend. Forget Starbucks I’ll take aqua Fresca 😋
Food and drinks are exquisite. Staff are so polite. 👌
Got the small Cucumber Spinach Bluebery Aqua Fresca and Carne Asada Torta and both are so good!! Would recommend and would come back to try other items on the menu!!
Nice place that lets you sample drinks! It’s also right in the Santa Anita mall food court. Super friendly workers and food is delicious. I got a cucumber/lemonade mix which was soooo good and refreshing. Hot dog was pretty good except the bun was split :(
First time here and we Throughly enjoyed our drinks. They were very favorable and tasted great. The staff were very personable, friendly and greeted potential customers has they walked by. I’ve visited similar establishments in other malls but they didn’t serve food as Sunday Cafe does. This by far sets them apart from others in the industry. Although, I didn’t try the food, it looked delicious. I would definitely recommend this spot to family and friends.
This place just opened up in the Westfield Arcadia Mall food court next to Massis Kabob. They serve Mexican food and desserts as well as seven kinds of agua fresca. On this particular visit to the mall we had already had dinner at another place. As we were walking by, the super friendly staff were offering free samples of the agua fresca so we decided to try some. Holy freaking cow were they amazing!!! Honestly, the free samples were more exciting and tasty than anything in the dinner we just had. Serious wow factor! After a bit of research it seems that the agua frescas are their signature items. Free samples are always available to help you decide. Their website features the drinks claiming to be 100% natural and also featuring the motto, "Natural fruit. Quality drinks." It appears that they have food stands in the 626, OC, and NorCal night markets. I'm guessing that this location may be their first permanent storefront. We will definitely be going back for dinner and drinks at this place sometime soon.
Friendly staff and delicious ice cream for our banana split. You can taste test the Aguas (juices) so you can choose which one you like the most.
The worker gave me a free drink because I showed them I got all A s last semester.
Honestly, this place is great. I’ve had their fast burritos, breakfast croissant, breakfast muffin, and drinks and they were all delicious for something so simple. The horchata is hands down some of the best I’ve had ever. Also, the staff are always very cheery and happy to help. Definitely my go-to spot whenever I come to the mall.
Love this place so much i come here often the staff is amazing and friendly people they put a smile on your face ! and the food is great if you want fast mexican food gladly will be coming back 😁😁
Food is amazing! Honestly, anything and everything on their menu. Here once a week and my top go to are the breakfast burritos, steak fries, any breakfast items. The employees are ALWAYS friendly! Always recommend it.
Their burrito is delicious and its not drenched in oil like many other places. They're also not stingy with the food and give portions accordingly with the price. Phenomenal food 🙂 will come back
By far one of the best Mexican food spots I’ve ever had!! Not to mention the staff is super friendly and a joy to interact with. I’ve tried plenty off their menu but my favorite is the chilaquiles plate! So full of flavor and so delicious paired with their mango orange agua fresca :) will definitely keep coming back
Attractive noodle and tempura house at the east entrance to the Santa Anita Mall. High ceilings and good ventilation. Courteous and helpful staff. The food is fresh and interesting, liked the #2 beef, beansprouts and #13 tomato curry entrees. Lively atmosphere with plenty of seating.
There used to be in a Marugame near my college, but it has disappeared and since then, I’ve been yearning for it. Marugame’s noodles are bouncy and the soup rich in fishy flavor. I love the ability to tempura, but my tempura was a little too soggy in the breading. But overall, loved the experience and the food
Marugame Udon is a go-to spot whenever I’m craving fresh, comforting Japanese noodles. The udon is made right in front of you, giving that perfect chewy texture and a rich, savory broth that feels both hearty and light. I especially love their crisp, golden tempura—each piece stays crunchy even after a quick dip in the broth. The self-serve setup makes it easy to customize with toppings like green onions, tempura flakes, or a soft-boiled egg. Service is quick and friendly, and prices are reasonable for the quality. Whether you’re grabbing a fast lunch or a casual dinner, Marugame delivers a consistently satisfying bowl every time.
On my last visit, I accidentally ordered the wrong item, but the manager was so kind and accommodating. They not only brought me the dish I had originally wanted but also let me keep the first item I ordered by mistake. That level of customer service really stood out to me and made me feel valued. The food here is consistently delicious great portions, flavorful, and always fresh. Every time I come, I leave satisfied. Highly recommend this place for both the food and the excellent service!
Been to other locations growing up and was so happy when they opened one 10 mins away from my house!! I’ve been here a few times, love the udon they serve and the fresh tempura. Located next to Cheesecake Factory and right infront of the mall entrance, it could get crowded on the weekends so I usually come on the weekdays. But turnover is pretty quick since it’s mainly self serve and seating. Service is friendly, come support this local chain!
First time trying and sid not know what to order. I asked a guy what he was eating and he said curry nikutama.so I went with that. I didn't know what I was getting into but that dish was perfect. It came with a boiled egg. I loved all the flavors in the bowl. The udon was cook to perfection.
We were at the Santa Anita Mall, my 7 year old and I, while her older sister watched a movie with friends. We saw Marugame Udon and decided that where we wanted to eat there. It was definitely a really good call. The food was delicious and the service was great. I would highly recommend eating here. We got our food to go so we could eat at the food but the restaurant itself a great atmosphere a d it would have been great eating in there. It was definitely less crowded and had more room to eat and converse without all the background noise. My daughter had the soup with tempura shrimp and she really loved it. I had the soup with the meat, can’t remember the name but it was delicious. Last but not least we were sent home with cute instructions on how to reheat the food at home! It came in handy too since my daughter didn’t finish her food. We always have a hard time reheating food we buy at restaurants and I loved these little instructions. So a thoughtful addition to your take out experience!
The udon and tempura were delicious! We especially enjoyed the soup and the warm tempura dipping sauce. We tried their new menu items - teriyaki chicken tartar udon and mushroom tempura, which were both awesome. The new item had an egg mayo sauce that was drizzled over the teriyaki chicken. The soup was sweeter than the kitsune udon's soup. Before eating, I would slightly recommend scooping aside or eating the egg mayo and chicken first so it doesn't mix into the soup. It is a personal preference for myself to have a clear broth and not one that is creamy from the mayo. It is honestly still really delicious overall and I would order it again! The kitsune udon was a great choice for lunch as it's not too heavy. Our favorite items were the mushroom Tempura, and both udons that we ordered. The service was stellar, and every person was very kind and friendly!
An affordable and fulfilling lunch!! Highly recommend: 9.3 out of 10. Visited on a Monday afternoon 🌤️😎 Ordered the chicken katsu curry and some tempura To-Go! The chicken was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside!! It came with green onions and tempura flakes on top. The curry was tasty and had a great consistency. Very delicious and a nice option for an udon eatery. I added to my meal from their tempura selection: zucchini, potato and egg. All delicious and crunchy! I'd give it a solid 9 out of 10. It definitely satisfied my craving. The inside was very clean! ✅ The staff were friendly, helpful and quick! The overall customer service was a 9.5 out of 10. This place will now be a regular spot to stop by and eat at! 😃🙌
Great menu with all you need for a day to fill fit and healthy.
We had an ehhh experience at the one in Hawaii, so I had to really convince BF to give the new Arcadia location a try. I think with this visit, I've successfully changed his mind! I really wanted a beef bowl and couldn't find a place for a decent one. So of course when I saw that Marugame had one on its menu, I had to order it to try. We also went against the grain of ordering the usual udon selections and tried one of their curry noodle options. And loaded up on all the tempura! The gyudon (beef bowl) felt like a great value at $10.95 and that bowl is huge! Much better than our Yoshinoya here and sorta close to one in Japan. The large curry nikutama udon ($15.95) came with the same beef as the beef bowl and was also delicious. Lots of curry, so we actually dipped some of the tempura in the curry and scooped some of the curry into the gyudon. We tried the following tempura and all were good, especially dipped in curry! Though our least favorite was the potato croquette, so we wouldn't order that again. * big chicken katsu $4.75 * zucchini tempura $1.95 * potato croquette $2.25 * shrimp tempura $2.25 * tamagoyaki tempura $1.95 * squid tempura $2.25 The line to order can look daunting, but it moves. Seating might also look limited but they do try to enforce the 'no seating yourself until you've ordered and are carrying your food' so by the time you pick up your food, there should be some free tables. Grab utensils and napkins on the side after you pay and bus your empty trays there afterwards too. What a great addition to the mall! So glad there's a closeby place for a decent beef bowl!
Marugame Udon – Fast, Flavorful, and Filling (Mostly) I stopped by Marugame Udon with a buddy for a quick Friday lunch after hearing great things about their freshly made udon and build-your-own-style setup. The line was long but moved fast, and I was curious to see if it lived up to the hype. 🍜 What I Ordered: Nikutama Udon (Regular) – $10.95 A savory-sweet bowl of udon topped with tender beef, soft-poached egg, and green onions. Tempura Shrimp, Pumpkin, and Egg Omelet – ~$2 each 🌟 Highlights: Nikutama Udon Broth & Noodles: The broth was rich and flavorful, with a slight sweetness that paired well with the sweet beef. The udon noodles had that perfect bouncy chew. Comforting and satisfying without being too heavy. Tempura Batter: Crispy and well-seasoned—but the pieces themselves (especially the shrimp and pumpkin) had clearly been sitting under the heat lamp too long. The texture was dry and lacked that fresh-fried punch. Quick & Efficient Setup: Despite the lunch rush, the cafeteria-style ordering moved quickly. You grab a tray, pick your udon, add sides, and pay at the end—great for a fast casual meal. ✨ Other Notes: Toppings Bar: Free green onions, tempura flakes, garlic, and sauces let you customize your bowl to your liking. Affordable for the Quality: Under $20 for a filling lunch with multiple items—good value overall. ⚠️ Areas for Improvement: Tempura Freshness: The batter was on point, but the holding time under the lamp affected the texture and flavor. Would love to see higher turnover or made-to-order options during off-peak hours. Though the portion of beef felt a bit sparse for the price. Still tasty and well-marinated. Limited Seating During Lunch Rush: It was tough to find a spot during peak lunch—expect to hover a bit before you can sit down. 💡 Tips: Credit cards and Apple Pay accepted Self-serve water and condiments available Try to go before noon or after 1:30 PM to avoid the worst of the lunch crowd Free parking in the shared mall parking lot and structures Indoor/Outdoor seating and tables turn over pretty quickly I’d definitely come back to Marugame Udon for a fast, reliable meal. Next time, I’ll try the curry udon and maybe skip the tempura unless it looks freshly made. If you’re in the mood for a customizable, satisfying bowl of noodles without the long wait of a sit-down spot, this is a solid choice.
Their Agua Frescas are really good! Nice selection of flavors too! And fairly affordable! Always a plus in my books! 👍🏻 My friend ordered their Siu Maai & Haa Gow of all things, AFTER having had Dim Sum too! Sadly, as of Labor Day 2025, I just found out that they no longer serve those items. It's OK though, everything else I've had here has been pretty good, and I can't complain! On average, food takes about 8 minutes to get to you from ordering it. Best of all, if you get their cute bear containers that you can hang over your shoulders, you can bring it back and get their agua fresca for half off. *Pro-Tip*: If you go in for a re-fill, make sure to take the straw out first. You'll thank me later when you realize how it reduces any confusion.
The broth on the noodles got thick and the noodles seemed to get overcooked with time. The flavor was there and I liked the spicyness. I just did not like the broth getting to thick. Over all the food was OK, but would not go back. There are better noodle places for less the cost. One more thing check your receipts, they tend to make mistakes and overcharge or charge for items you don't actually purchase. It was not much. But that is not the point.
Let's talk about Marugame, the noodle restaurant my daughter frequently visited when we were in Shanghai. She and I recently visited the branch in The Shops at Santa Anita. She usually ordered the big bowl when she had enough money, otherwise she would opt for the small one. Firstly, I'd like to say that the vegan meat in the Tan Tan noodle was the most meaty non-meat I have ever had. The ground vegan meat is so good that you wouldn't be able to tell that it's not real meat if you did a blind taste test. Secondly, I have to say that the restaurant fell below my expectations and was below average. My daughter didn't even finish her bowl, despite being a Japanese curry and udon lover. The restaurant has a very Japanese style, but I didn't see the iconic wording "讚歧釜揚げうどん" as you would in Japan. The renovation and layout is still very ethnic. The restaurant is located beside The Cheese Factory and faces Benihana, making it a great location. The Tan Tan noodle I ordered only had the vegan option. The dish was extremely salty and tasteless, which is a combination that is normally not logical. The fake ground pork was good, but the overall flavor of the dish was disappointing. Tan Tan ramen or Tan Tan udon is a Japanese version of Chinese Sichuan flavor, but the Tan Tan I got was not at all spicy. Compared to the Tan Tan I had at Kura Revolving Sushi, it's one-star out of five. Additionally, there were no spicy condiments at the self-service counter such as spicy oil, chili powder, or Shichimi togarashi. In addition to the Tan Tan, the curry dish that my daughter ordered was not as good as the ones she had in other Marugame restaurants in different countries. The flavor was floating and not mixed well with the noodles. According to her, you could just buy a box of curry and add water to make it better than this bowl. The only good thing about my dish was the tanenuki (たねぬき), which are crispy bits of batter that drop off the tempura while frying. The tanenuki was served as a condiment made with green onion, and it remained crispy even when soaked in the soup and was not oily at all.
If you see them at a fair. Turn around. They use stuff from a bag from h mart. Gross, wet, tasteless food .
The drinks are good but they skip you if you don't order fast.
Hmm… Where do I even begin..?! I recently just moved back to LA from Hawaii 9 days ago & have been craving the udon like crazy since the moment I got back! 👉🏻 This is my 3rd time been to this location & it was the most awful experience from the moment I grabbed my food to done eating and finally left the restaurant! 🤦🏻♀️ Nightmare! ✨ Note: I went with my friends for the previously two times I’ve visited this restaurant / The first time we went is on the first week for the their grand opening! 4/29 @ 12:05pm is when I arrived the restaurant. Honestly I was expecting for it to be super busy & probably has a super long line, but luckily not at all. It took me just a few mins to look at the menu (which I’m already standing in line as looking at the menu). All the sudden, 6+ people showed up and lined up behind me. 1. There’s a Caucasian male standing behind me which I think it was his first time & he clearly doesn’t know what he’s doing - which is fine. But then this guy tried to cut in front of me/reached out to inside the counter and grabbed a small plate THEN put it back within few seconds after he grabbed it / AND THEN again moved backwards to stand behind me AND acted impatiently as I’m moving forward along with the people in front of me (super slow) - it was VERY uncomfortable/unbelievable, what a mess! ✨ Bad Start - I should’ve known! 🤦🏻♀️ 2. Forgot to mention above👆🏻 so I ordered the Tonkotsu (L) / was expecting the egg to be *like shown in the photo* BUT IT IS NOT! So when I was standing in line, after the employee placed the egg in my bowl along with the broth/noodles/everything else - I wanted to check out *the eggs* from inside the counter to see if they’re all overly cooked ✨ The guy behind me was EXTREMELY impatient & I was just disgusted by his behavior completely! 😡 Anyway, eventually I was able to visually see what I wanted to see, and yep - all eggs are overly boiled 💥 Meaning: False Advertisement!!!!! ✨ 👉🏻 My question is: I’m sure thousands consumers have seen the menus in ALL locations, yet nobody ever noticed it? I’ve checked through all the reviews/photos from ALL locations via Marugame locations here in Los Angeles or nearby areas (6 stores total), obviously there were people ordered the same thing before BUT nobody noticed it?! 💥 👆🏻 Should they change the photo(s) instead? 3. Bad spacing between all the tables & isles! ✨ I understand the space is limited: to keep it an open space for the walk-in AND separate the seating area / but they should’ve arrange all the tables/chairs spacing AFTER carefully calculated it - to see how the layout should be as far as seating goes for all dine-in customers under all circumstances! ✨ Isn’t that a part of the planning/business strategies? 🤔 I was sitting on table #3 - which was against the wall on the right side facing the main entrance (first two tables are both a 4 top -> 2 tables combined together). Since it was only me by myself, I looked the entire area (which I didn’t realize how packed it was when first walked in) and the seat I selected was the ONLY available seating for 1 individual (2 max), which is fine, I don’t care, as long as if I can sit and eat! But then I only realized after sitting down - I was blocked/trapped from all tables & people surrounded me in EVERY SINGLE DIRECTION!!! 👉🏻 Table of 4 on both my left & right side / Table of 6-8 on my left front & right front ✨ My direct view facing front was the poll - connects the ceiling and the floor (besides my table & opposite side of chair of course). ✨ I was not able to walk anywhere after placed my tray/food on my table, but had to squeeze (moving physically sideways) to go between the spaces & the tables from all other customers that were also dine-in at the restaurant, which is it feels absolutely awkward, uncomfortable, and extremely frustrating! 4. I ordered 4 fried add-ons besides the dish. ✨ I do agree with other customers who said “too salty” & “not healthy”. I guess it’s how it was prepared, I felt sick afterward for the rest of the evening! 🤷🏻♀️
