Opinions de Moffett's Family Restaurant Arcadia
Everything was wonderful. The food was amazing as it always has been. Hot, flavorful, excellent quality. I've been going here for decades and it's always been great and even with new owners(so I've been told), the wonderful food is the same. The service was also top notch! My coffee cup was always filled, water never ran out, food was prepared and delivered promptly and fresh. The staff was friendly, happy and provided positive energy. The dining room was clean, comfortable, and everything on the table was in order and clean. They also had tons of breakfast, lunch, and dinner options I'll look at for future visits. Highly highly recommended!
Chicken pot pie is so good! The dinner includes soup or salad, their homemade bread, mashed potatoes, vegetables (today was green beans) and you get dessert! I had the bread pudding.
We ordered the chicken pie and tri trip pie, mini peach and cherry pie to go. The meat was cooked to perfection the gravy over the pie and mashed potatoes so delish it’s great comfort food. The mini loaf of bread that came with our dinner was the most softest freshest tasting bread I’ve had. We will definitely come back.
This was our first visit back to Moffett’s Family Restaurant & Chicken Pie since it was taken over by the longtime main chef, and I’m happy to say everything we love about this place is still here! They’ve even added some new breakfast items and daily specials. Of course, their famous chicken pie is still the star of the show — we got the chicken pot pie with mashed potatoes and it was excellent. Comfort food at its best. Service is warm and friendly, and you can tell the owners really care about their guests. The place was buzzing when we went, and it’s great to see this neighborhood favorite thriving. We’ll definitely be back!
You want some home-style comfort food cooking like what you had as a kid? You want that steamy, gooey chicken pot pie? Go back in time by stepping into Moffett's Restaurant Sure, they have a lot of other goodies on the menu, but it's all about those chicken pot pies here at this retro 1960s era diner. Service was great. No reservations and plenty of parking. If you can't stay, get 'em to go. Just as good!
Moffett's Family Restaurant & Chicken Pie Shoppe is a beloved comfort food spot in Arcadia, CA, known for its homestyle chicken pot pies and nostalgic ambiance. It consistently earns high ratings for friendly service and generous portions.
Had wanted to try Mottett’s for quite some time and since I was in the area stopped and got some of their chicken pot pies and some fruit pies. First off this place has. Quaint charm to it and reminds me of places my grandma and I would go to when I was little. Something about places with history. Places was nice and clean and staff was friendly and helpful making recommendations. Got 2 dark meat chicken pot pies and cherry and peach pie. Everything was fantastic and full of flavor. My only regret not getting a couple more pies for later. Will have to stop by again when I’m in the area.
This was such a great little slice of nostalgia! I grew up eating at a similar restaurant in Orange County that has since closed. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful! The food definitely took me back to my childhood. And the clientele seemed to span through all ages. The best part was their family meal deal, it was perfect to take home for the rest of the family!
Nice cozy vibe. Tried the chicken pot die dinner and got SO MUCH food for the price! The pot pie was delicious! The carrots were soft and mildly sweet, you could tell they were fresh. Had my apple pie to go and got a hefty amount of crust (which I enjoy). Will definitely go back to try more. I am not a fan of mashed potatoes but there's was smooth and creamy to the taste. They sell the pies to go as well if you prefer to try it at home.
I was staying at a friends house and asked if any of his local places did proper wholesome food and he recommended here! He also said it was family run, which a major plus for me, as I like to support such places if I can. We went along and after a fun chat with the waitress, placed our orders. We had soup and salad for starters, with absolutely delicious bread! Then we had Beef Pot Pie, with mashed potato, greens and thick gravy (Just like back in the UK). I have to say, it was delicious and I never thought I'd be able to have a pie and gravy in the states, like back home. This was all finished with ice-cream and I have to say the Mint choc chip reminded me of the equivalent Viennetta from home. The taste and texture, identical, which was good. Overall, the experience was excellent and the food hit the mark perfectly. I wish we had a similar place back in the UK near me.

First time to Moffett and the chicken pot pie is a must get. The bread is so delicious here and freshly made. The menu offers different types of pot pies plus salads, sandwiches, and burgers. There's also breakfast too. The food here is filling and the staff here is great. The parking is shared with other businesses in the same lot but there's space closer to the north side.

I have loved Moffett's food for years - my favorite is the chicken pie with a double side of cole slaw. Soooo good. I was recently gifted a Moffett's t-shirt and I had to comment on the design and quality of the shirt. I got the hunter green and it is thick American Apparel brand 100% cotton. It's a very nice shirt that is going into my weekly roster. Great family-owned place, recommended.
I go here every year on my Birthday. I love the variety of food. You are able to substitute a veggie burger on a patty melt it is delicious. We had a great server named Yvette. The owner decorates for Halloween and Christmas. I was treated like royalty on my Birthday. The owner saw us struggling to take a selfie outside by the Christmas decorations and came out to take the photo for us. Great welcoming family environment. I have been coming here for many years. I moved away from Arcadia and still count this restaurant as my favorite!
The food here is so good. The chicken pot pie and Friday turkey dinner are my go to. The desert pies are good. Before trying the desert pies here I never ate them. I no longer live done the street from here but it’s still a must go when I’m in the area. The clam chowder on Friday’s is really delicious also.

A classic and worth a visit or two. As soon as I walked in, it felt like being transported back in time except everyone there were retirement age or older :). Kidding aside, everyone there were “experienced” and they all looked like they’ve been eating here for decades! Being my first time, I decided to try two of their pot pies as a dinner. I have to admit, I liked the beef better than the chicken but both were delish. If you like banquet pot pies like I do, think of this as the adult version and much better. Mashed potatoes potatoes and gravy were just ok as were the veggies, but took me back to school lunches and cafeteria food. Soup was chicken barley which was a first for me, but pretty good and to round out the dinner, the bread pudding which I didn’t get to eat because I was just too full. Service was very pleasant and quick. Price was a little high for the quantity and type of food, but happy to support a brick and mortar business anyway I can. If retirees can afford it for all these years, who am I to judge :)
I'd come back to try other items. I loved the diner mom n pop vibe. I sat next to the Halloween skeleton, who was a quiet but pleasant seat mate. I wanted to try the German offerings like schnitzel...but since it was my first time, I went with their signature chicken pot pie, which resembles an empanada...the pot pie is a pale full moon with a mild chicken gravy...think Mrs Lovett in the musical Sweeney Todd. I was grateful it wasn't salty, and it was well formed, but I had two separate bites of chicken that had cartilage bits, so one time swallowed, another time spitting it out into a napkin...sorry to be graphic. In other words, eat it carefully if you order the pot pie. It was well stuffed with 🐔. The mashed potatoes were fine as was the corn kernals. The best part of the meal was the bread, super soft and the coffee... and...the Service, the service was the bright spot, very friendly staff. It's a fun adventure. And I like supporting mom n pop places. Would love to try the schnitzel!!
Food was ok. Pot pies were small & didn’t have veggies in them. Service was great. It’s an old fashioned restaurant that seems to have been a local staple for years.
Sunday dinner; dine in; had the ‘kebab dinner’ (beef) very good. The dinner is a lot of good food for the price. Service was friendly.
First off, let me state that I thoroughly enjoyed my dining experience. The two strongest points about this place are the extremely friendly service and the comforting time capsule feel of the place. That being said, I found the star of my meal, the chicken pot pie, to be nothing truly remarkable. Before I go any further, I don't like posting reviews that are not super positive unless I actually had a miserable experience, which I didn't. Would I return to this place? Yes, absolutely! Would I drive all the way up from Long Beach to go here, probably not, unless I was meeting a like-minded person who enjoys time capsule dining as much as I do. You get a lot of food for your money! The side salad, which comes with green bean salad on top of it was actually quite tasty, though might be off-putting to some. The dinner rolls were soft, delicious and melted in my mouth. I would probably try the chicken pot pie again, just perhaps with the gravy on the side. The mashed potatoes are what really made me sad. I don't usually get snobbish about food, and I grew up with instant mashed potatoes, but these were really not enjoyable. Maybe it was just an off day for that batch of potatoes? I still ate them as I dislike food waste, but I would definitely avoid them next time. My dinner even came with a choice of dessert. I picked the rice pudding, which was excellent and my favorite part of the meal by far! If I'm in the area again I'd love to try this place out for breakfast. You can truly tell it is beloved by locals, and for good reason! My only other piece of advice for the owners would be to change out the light bulbs for something a little warmer. The cool white light bulbs they have in the majority of the fixtures really clash with the vintage 70s vibes, especially the ones over the counter! This place has been going strong for 49 years. (Since 1975) I hope they keep going for another 49 at least!
Very comfortable family restaurant. Food is good, dinner includes the entre, soup or salad, and side. Best thing, it includes a dessert (couple of choices available). The chicken pie is great, the portion could be bigger (should have ordered the second pie for a little bit extra $).
Pretty good! Did take out, and next time I'll eat in for breakfast. I thought the pies would be pot pies but they were hand pies which means they were very cheap. And also we got a turkey sandwich, turkey breast, on sourdough, and it was so tasty. Fun old family style restaurant
