Slightly baffled by the softish reviews for this place. For me it was everything I'm looking for in a New York restaurant. Everything we were served, from the focaccia to the oysters to the bolognese, to the chocolate amaro sorbet was unfussy, exceptional and memorable. The service was perfect, low key, unobtrusive and friendly. You're well taken care of but not constantly pinged. Good value for the level of care and attention. I'll be back here, and soon!
went for an impromptu date night without a res and sat in the front bar area at a table, we were surprised the reviews weren’t better! apps ordered: • focaccia • prosciutto (we loved that this came with cheese too) • funghi fritti (must order!!! the aioli with chile oil was incredible, as was the batter on the fried mushrooms) mains ordered: • branzino (the side salad was surprisingly flavorful) • dry aged burger (the caramized onions and shoe string fries were divine. also randomly the ketchup it came with was so good) dessert: • the chocolate cake/mousse thing, it was giving the Eataly chocolate mousse… divine the waiter helped us pick some of the things, let us taste a couple wines, and the drinks were great. overall we loved the experience and the waitstaff was so nice which feels rare these days :)
Loved our experience here, the service was amazing and the aesthetic and design of the space is incredible. Will definitely be back, the amberjack crudo was amazing and all of the spritz drinks are yummy. The Espresso Martini here is worth the $20, it’s one of my favorites I’ve tried in NYC.
Truly a 10/10 experience. Excellent service, insane wine list, beautiful atmosphere, and the food is… absolutely perfect. No notes. The clam pasta is not to be slept on, as is the bread, steak, and the charred Florentino. You will feel transported to costal Italy with every bite. This is the type of place that is perfect for almost any occasion. Run, don’t walk.
It was a beautiful Saturday evening , so that meant busy busy busy. Waiting list were hrs long. Somehow we managed to be seated immediately here in the front dining area, which was perfect. We were greeted so kindly, staff there was super cool and funny. They made sure we were comfy and happy with our selections. Beautiful ambiance and aesthetic. Ok so for starters we went with the funghi fritti, caesar salad, and grilled prawns. Man that salad was so bomb!!! the dressing has this slight tanginess to it, just so delicious! Scrape the plate good, fresh croutons may I add. Ok for the mains we went with the porcini tortelloni and the bucatini with clams. So So So So very good ! Another episode of left the empty an clean. Dessert for the grand finale we went with affogato! Devoured that treat! Alongside of our dishes we had a nice chilled glass of white wine. Irman our waiter was super awesome! We will be returning to try the fries, I heard they are one of kind. Great time!
One of the best italian food places i have been to they have great lasagna and chipino food great to meet at with the family
I had a beautiful date night experience on a horrendously rainy night, completely turning things around. We were seated in a corner booth of the dining room and had a great view of the entire floor. I loved the red accents and the white tablecloths, it made it feel very upscale and James Bond-y in an 80s spectacular kind of way. We both ordered cocktails that were refreshing and beautifully balanced, and started off with ordering prosciutto & melon and oysters. My boyfriend ordered the tagliatelle bolognese, which he ate every bite of, and I ordered the swordfish with the most decadent and delicious butter bean situation. We also got a side of the seared cabbage because it just seemed so delicious. Overall, an incredible dining experience. It’s somewhere I’d love to bring my parents. I picked up a Casino branded matchbook and will definitely be highlighting it in a future craft - so cute!
I was pleasantly surprised by Casino! Despite some average reviews, I was recommended casino by a friend and decided to go with my boyfriend to celebrate our anniversary. Our server was great, excellent wine, delicious food ! We got the oysters, focaccia, steak frites, and bolognese. The tiramisu was too chocolately for my liking with a chocolate syrup, but perhaps others love that! Overall, would recommend!!
Wonderful dinner at a gorgeous trendy restaurant. We had an incredibly long wait but the manager was nice enough to comp our drinks and apps. Great date night spot or celebration with groups. Bar downstairs was super sexy. Food did the trick but isn’t mind blowing. More worth it for the ambiance
From the start till the ends food and drinks 10/10 plus make it ten with nice ambiance and interior - but I see why lots of folk are complaining about the service, this place can be very packed at some days. A tip for before visit if you really want to experience dine here - come early dinner on a weekday if you can so you can experience the whole things. Stumbled here on the weekend for late night espresso martini and ice cream cake for the first time that was banger! And comes back two days later to experience the food and everything that they offered. Started with Amberjack Crudo - continue with main, I get dry age duck breast omg that was ummmm! Side with Roasted Carrots and Charred Brussels sprouts! Make the dinner way to well. Table next to me says “ you need to get the PAPPARDELLE next time you here “ Probably yet the top 10 restaurants I’ve been in NYC! Bravo!
Incredible interior/atmosphere, service, and food! Oysters are a MUST! And my cosmo martini and pasta with clams combined with the red and white floor tile and dim lighting made me feel like I was at a classy casino on the Italian riviera… but with a dimes square twist.
Casino is sexy. Perfect for a friend date or date date. The food was delicious, the wines by the glass divine. I didn’t expect food to be this good since I was going more for ambience. I met the manager tonight, she’s so classy and profresh. Loved loved loved it here. An institution in the making.

This place is beautiful, the decor and food are great. The dirty martinis are perfect 👌 Great spot to go with friends or date night
We found this place via Resy. Experience was truly amazing. The espresso martini was too good. The bread and the pasta with clams were perfect. Would definitely visit if we come to NYC again
One of the best in the neighborhood! Perfect place for a martini and the tuna crudo is a favorite! Everybody is so so friendly and really takes care of you.
Loved the vibe, the food was 10/10 and the cocktails are excellent. Service is great too. Can’t fault it!
We were there for a Campari promotional event. Unsure what to expect, but the food element was interestingly paired with the 2 (included) Campari spritz drinks. Sadly, NO ONE left a gratuity for the staff except us (even though our waitress was not notable/worthy).
Casino offers a mediocre experience across the board. The food, service, and atmosphere are all just average - nothing particularly stands out. It's a passable option, but nothing memorable about the visit.
Great atmosphere and service. However the food feel short - over dressed salad, broccoli pretending to be broccolini and a bland tiramisu. Makes going back a hard decision.
Polite and responsive servers, but no pepper or Parmesan offered for any of the dishes was disappointing given the ambience and price point. A couple of the dishes could’ve really used them, so I guess I should’ve asked for it.
Casino restaurant envelops diners in a warm, inviting atmosphere that perfectly sets the stage for an extraordinary meal. The Insalata mista is perfect for salad lovers—simple, fresh, and lightly dressed to let the ingredients shine. It’s a refreshing start that feels effortlessly balanced. The Heritage chicken is a standout dish that keeps me coming back. Featuring a fragrant ajwain gastrique and a velvety Vidalia onion soubise, this dish is pure perfection. It's so good that I, someone who rarely orders chicken at restaurants, find myself craving it regularly. That alone speaks volumes about its quality. I’m also endlessly impressed by their Romano Beans, available year-round. Somehow, Casino manages to make this humble ingredient a star in a dish I make a point to enjoy every single visit.
Cute cozy interior with red accents. The front of the restaurant, known as the cafe, is a little more casual, and white tablecloth seating in the back feels elevated. Servers were nice and attentive. *if you are running more than 15 min late, they will give up your table in the back. This information was not mentioned to us when we emailed saying we were running late. After being seated at the cafe for 15 min, we were lucky to have gotten seated in the dining area as originally reserved. The food is good, nothing that I would categorize as extraordinary for the price point. Prawns were delicious, as was the papparadelle, and broccolini had a nice amount of lemon to it.
Casino is a sexy restaurant. It's all vibes. Dimly lit with candles everywhere in a spacious dining room with a bar in the basement, I had high hopes for this restaurant - and it delivered! The service was excellent as soon as we walked in we were asked about our bags and coats. The dinner staff were also attentive throughout the meal and made sure we had everything we needed. The food was, I'd say, okay especially for $90 a person (for the prix fixe menu). I thought the best, most memorable dish was the smoked lamb pappardelle and the roasted cabbage dish. The gelato for desert was also pretty great. The shrimp with black garlic was a big let down. The full shell-on shrimp didn't do anything for me and it was smeared in a black garlic paste that I had to remove and then place back on the shrimp AFTER I removed the shell to have the proper bite - not a fan of when restaurants do this. Overall, had a great evening and recommend this place for a vibey place for a group dinner
Vibey, chic spot for drinks-and-snacks. Sit in the bar area for a more boisterous scene. There are a pair of tables on the sidewalk and again on the inside of the front windows - all lovely on a beautiful day with views of the park across the street. The back dining room is beautiful, but a bit serious for the level of cuisine. The food is good, and the service is okay - but it is more about pretty people than fine dinning. Interiors are strong with a lot of sculptural Venetian plaster, red accents, and late 20th century design. It’s giving Italian-vacation-fantasy in downtown Manhattan.

Service was great, and the cocktails were impeccable. The food was kind of expensive for what it was, and it was just ok. But the vibe was great. Five stars for the cocktails too. If I were going back, I’d go for a cocktail or two and then go eat Chinese food or something down the street.
The vibe of the restaurant, and most of the staff, were exceptional and absolutely tons of fun. I really liked the ambiance, theme, the aesthetics; and was welcomed into and thanked at the end in a really wonderful way. HOWEVER, while most of the food and drink was quite good, the entree -- we had the chicken -- was absolutely cold and undercooked. In fact, we had to pick around most of it because of how pink it was, and I even had a bit of a stomach ache after. This was pretty unacceptable. The waitress did not ask how our food was.. putting us in the uncomfortable position of telling her this fact. We weren't in the mood to bring this up, especially as we were pretty full from multiple starters etc, and our waitress was rather curt, so we cut our losses and didn't say anything at the time. Would have liked to see the staff be more proactive about asking how the food was; as some guests like me always prefer not to raise this unless necessary. And would have liked to see some more effort going into a $30+ cut of chicken.
cute neighborhood spot for me, it’s nice to bring people here from out of town because they always have tables and the service is good. nothing to write home about
nice looking restaurant, not too loud for a conversation, even when it’s full. we were 4 people, everyone’s food was way too salty. i also think it’s relatively expensive for what you get
Liked the baked eggplant and other apps. Ordered the 30? day dry aged duck, and it was funky and chewy, whatever they tried to accomplish with the duck made it worst instead of enhancing it. The fine dining Italian place was packed, we were crammed into a booth for 1 person too many to dine comfortably. The main dining area is dimly lit, with curved corners trying to imitate a domed ceiling. Service was slow, we has to keep an eye out too often for waitee to get water refill, clear table for entree, check etc.
The decor at casino creates a lovely setting, and you can tell they've put effort into the atmosphere. Unfortunately, the food didn't quite live up to the same standard. While the portions were substantial, the dishes were ultimately unremarkable and didn't offer anything particularly exciting or memorable. It felt a bit pretentious, with prices that seemed inflated for the quality of the food. This could be a decent choice for a special occasion where ambiance is a priority, but for a regular dining experience, it's not worth the cost. With so many incredible dining options in New York, this is likely a "one and done" for me. I'd prioritize trying other places before considering a second visit.
Probably more of a 3.5. Pretty restaurant, upstairs and down. Very active noise level and very close to one another tables. Cocktails were good, appetizers (eggplant faratini, radicchio salad, gulf shrimp) fine. I had the pesto pasta and it was really under seasoned. My friend had the clam pasta. We shared the pavlova for dessert and it was, again, fine. Good not great but an energetic lively vibe. Probably worth a revisit in the future.
The vibe was great, very beautiful interior and feels like you go back in time. The espresso martini was great, not sure if it’s worth its price though. Food was a 3.5 out of 5, can’t say I’ll be coming back for a dinner, but for a drink and atmosphere I would. If I could leave 3.5 stars I’d do that. Overall not a bad experience, however the service could be better. Updated: Don’t order the chicken dish.
Beautiful interior design. But food was very average. Extremely slow service (waited more than half hour for 6 oysters and over an hour for 2 pasta dishes). Was also surprised by how small amount the pasta were… Also, weird layout as host/hostess are behind the cafe. Our waiter was exceptional tho.
When I think about hip New York dining spots, Casino is the first thing that comes to mind. Casino’s interiors have this natural look with slopes and curves as if the guys who built it worked with the natural landscape. It’s dark and cozy inside. A really nice place to rest from the cold November wind. We had oysters and the non-alcoholic drinks. Pretty good. Best to reserve a table if you plan on going as the place gets packed pretty quick. New York locals crowd. Shout out to Quentin and the rest of the crew for the hospitality. He gave us a seat even though we just walked in.

Had high hopes for this place considering what I've heard and the fact it's been open for awhile. My cocktail was disappointing and the two pastas we ordered were the opposite of memorable (though the steak tartare was acceptable). Also, the atmosphere left a lot to be desired considering how cool the space was from their prior tenant.
I have to start with, we aren’t from NYC. If someone considers Casino as a nice and good dinner experience you should definitely visit other places maybe outside NYC or the US. People told us we have to make reservations to have a place for dinner in NYC. That’s most probably true. However, the place is too small or too many tables were squeezed in. The noise level is extremely high. The staff is trying to do their best. The food isn’t worth the money. The drink we got was tasteless. The salad was super fresh but the dressing was so dominant, we couldn’t eat it. The steak was overcooked, not worth the 60$. The broccoli had the same problem the salad, way too much vinegar. The pasta was okay but even this meal was over spiced. I cannot recommend this place. Even so the place is heaving it would be good to make the dinning a fantastic experience for the customers taste.
It’s clear this place is strictly for the atmosphere. Ordered a few food items and to say I was disappointed is an understatement. The robbery for the potion size vs the price is insane. The ice cream sundae is literally a melted scoop of ice cream with some basic chocolate syrup on top for $18. Save your money and go somewhere else.
Food was wonderful, atmosphere was very cool, service was ghastly. Our server was replaced by another server and then replaced again, a drink we ordered was never brought to us, she seemed a little confused about what she was doing. People who were seated after us got their food and drinks faster than we did. Casino owners and managers, please do a better job of training your servers to be kinder and more attentive. This is ridiculous
I came here for my friend’s bday dinner. First, food and vibes are really really great. But we were very disappointed by service. Our server James never came to check on us and we couldn’t ask/order things on right time. We also ordered three bottles and when we finally got it we poured our own drinks as nobody came to help us. Also we called ahead to ask for candles as we were celebrating a birthday and he said okay, but he didn’t provide it. We had to ask a manager to get the candles she was very nice and helpful. I would like to come back for food but not for service.

The staff are lovely people and very attentive. The food is not impressive. For nyc prices, they need to do better. Caesar salad was very good. Mushroom fritti was terrible - too fried and tasteless. Prawns were good. Cheese and peppers very boring. Delicata squash was under cooked and salty. Steak came rare and bloody and we asked for medium rare. Fries were good but soggy because they were soaked in blood from steak. Desserts were decent.
food and atmosphere were good! Especially the bar area, it was really cute! However our server did not add the tip we gave and chose a higher amount. Out of principle I cannot recommend this restaurant.
I recently celebrated my birthday at Casino with friends, choosing to spend my money there in hopes of a memorable experience. Unfortunately, it was disappointing. While the food was fine and the decor charming, the service was where things went wrong. The host barely acknowledged us, making us feel like an inconvenience right from the start. Our waiter was equally disengaged, responding with short, sharp replies that made it difficult to enjoy the evening. We tried several times to warm up to her, but she wasn’t interested. My friend had even brought a birthday cake, but our server forgot about it entirely. After waiting, we had to ask a different host, and by then, the moment had passed—we decided to enjoy the cake elsewhere. A successful hospitality experience requires both design and service to align, and Casino missed the mark. I was genuinely looking forward to celebrating and supporting this place, but with service like this, I won’t be going back.
All the staff were rude and seemed like they couldn’t be bothered to be helpful in any way. Giving too cool to be kind and it was off-putting for our entire dinner. They all seemed annoyed that we were even in their presence. The food was good and it’s gorgeous inside, but not worth the attitudes at all. Save yourselves!!
