We stopped for lunch, both had a fish sandwich and Cole slaw. The fish hung out of the large bun. We couldn't eat everything. Good food, at a fair price.

Wife and I needed a bite to eat on a 5 hour road trip. We walked in and seated ourselves. Waitress came to our table immediately and took our drink orders. She returned with drinks less than a minute later and then took our food orders. A different waitress delivered our food about 5 minutes later. The omelettes were excellent and so were the home fries. Unbelievably great service. Also the bathrooms were very clean. Highly recommend!

Stopped by with my family. Today .The food was great, people were friendly and atmosphere was very nice and cozy. The bathroom was super clean, which was shocking to me because most places the bathrooms are dirty. Already planning our next trip back when in town. I ask for something well well done and they actually listen and it was delicious.

The interior atmosphere was as beautiful as the exterior design. We had breakfast, and went for the Stuffed French Toast! Absolutely delicious! Dad had Eggs, Bacon and OJ, his servings of each was plenty. Highly recommend a stop if you are in the neighborhood!

We really like this place! My parents love it and my kids and I were in town visiting so we came with them. It's simple but perfect. The food was absolutely delicious! We had the country fried steak (which my daughter said it's the best she's ever had), I had the tuna melt on rye (yum!!!!!!), and my son had the Cafe burger and loved it. The fries are delicious too! The place was very clean, service was fast and friendly, and the prices were fair. I can see why it's so popular. :)

Food was delicious, and very friendly people. This place was busy, but still didn't have to wait long. The Seafood bisque was SO GOOD! I also had their country fried steak, and Greman Chocolate cake...yum! My husband had their fried fish. It was so big, it lay over both sides of the plate. He said that was good too. You can tell the locals love this place.

My family stopped at The Village Cafe yesterday for lunch. We had a great meal with excellent service. The beef barley soup was super ,the turkey club sandwich was hearty and came with a pile of perfectly cooked french fries. We had their famous carrot cake for dessert. Incredible! We plan to stop here regularly on our day trips to southern tier.

My first time here, despite living within half an hour of the place for most of my life. It was VERY clean and neat inside. Staff were friendly and quick. The food is homestyle/comfort/diner fair, and is prepared and presented well. Ruben, coleslaw, 2 cups of soup, two drinks and strawberry shortcake were less than $30 total. I will go back

We were passing through town and stopped to get late lunch. When we got to the door, we realized that they were closing early that day in about 12 minutes. They told us to come on in, and we had a really great lunch. Nice, friendly staff. Great little place to eat.

This place was amazing! I was just passing through, and stumbled upon it for some breakfast. I had the most delicious veggie omelette with Texas toast and home fries, and it was awesome. The food was super fresh and hit the spot. The staff was also really friendly and it was very charming inside. I'll hopefully be passing through this way again so I can come back!

On a business trip in the area. Saw the high ratings and was not disappointed. Service was slow to get to you after telling you to seat yourself. People who came in 10 minutes after me, received menus and food before me, but other than that the food was way better than the place reflected. Cooked to perfection.

We were on a road trip and stopped for a quick breakfast. I had read the reviews, so the bar was pretty high. It did not disappoint! I got the veggie omelet with cheese it was cooked great and loaded with veggies. The service was incredibly fast and everyone was super friendly. The place is very clean. I imagine the lunch and dinner would be equally great. Worth the stop for sure.

I’ve never been to this place before; however I had business near Arkport which I concluded and so I thought that I might get lunch. It’s a small place with many older repeat customers; which the several waitresses seem to know by name. Even though I was there at a time that seemed to rest between lunch and dinner hours the tables never seemed to want for customers. When I go out to lunch or dinner, I use a system based on 4 categories to determine the tip. One of these is direct service. For this, I tend to watch the waitresses as they service their customers. I have amazing hearing, allowing me to hear waitress and customer interaction even across a crowded room. What an effective team they were with just 1 timing mistake to a customer (not me) throughout the whole dining experience. I could clearly deduce that these waitresses were an effective team. They worked hard to satisfy the customer which enhanced my dining experience that much more. They never complained to the customers or amongst themselves, even when they at a reasonably safe distance from earshot from most people. The food was great and reasonably priced. Once my leftovers had retreated into my carry-away.container and my check had been taken away in by the waitress in resolution of payment, I weighed my experience. I always pay with a sum that is so far disproportionate to the check that the waitress must return with change. This is my opportunity to critique to the waitresses service as I had explained to her. Needless to say, I ended up tipping above the maximum percentage (which me and my wife did from time to time for extremely good service.) She is well worth the 5 stars I gave her. I highly recommend taking a trip to this refreshing oasis in the small town of Arkport, N. Y. You will glad you did. Another note, below in this survey, I was asked what I would recommend by choosing items from a very small list. I would rewrite this survey to replace these selections; which are so incomplete as to be of limited value at best and simply leave a customer a box for which they might more accurately relay their selections based on their true dining choices.

I was blown away by the food here!! Such an adorable little restaurant with the most friendly staff. I ordered a fish sandwich expecting a small portion and instead was presented with a massive price of fish....I didn't even eat the bread. After I ordered a piece of carrot cake, which is no doubt homemade. The serving size was big enough that my daughter and I split it and still felt as if we had a whole piece. If I didn't live over 2 hours away I would dine here often.

I'm 71, have eaten all over this great land and in several European countries including France, and this is some of the best, tastiest food I've ever had! Everything perfectly seasoned; the hot food hot/cold cold. Generous portions make for a great value. Everything appears to be home-made. I'd say the best meatloaf, macaroni salad, coleslaw I've ever had. Comfort food at its best. Daily specials that are truly special! Clean!

I ate here several times while I was visiting the area. Great food. Excellent service and friendly staff. The omelette with the broccoli (I can’t recall the name of the omelette) was superb. I’d never had broccoli in an omelette but it didn’t disappoint. The home fries are also fantastic. Great place to eat!

Nice place and the food is good. We stop in for breakfast whenever were out that way. At least 50 miles from home but worth the drive.

All of my family had delicious food and wonderful service. We loved the grilled ham and cheese, chicken tenders, Village Plate, fries, peanut butter pie, and strawberry shortcake. If you are in the Dansville area, I recommend driving a bit toward Arkport for a nice meal.

We've driven past for a few years, always wondering what it's like. On a nice Fall day we went and it was great! Simple place but great. I got a patty melt which had an ample amount of onions (a welcome feature). It was delicious, cooked as specified. The servers were very attentive and friendly. The owner/manager (?) also was available. My husband's meal was also good. Very satisfying experience.

We went for an early Fish Dinner around 4:00 p.m. Plenty of seats since it was so early. By 4:45 p.m. it was standing room waiting only. All of the tables were full and the bar was full. Take outs were also going fast. Our waitress Amanda was very nice and attentive and served is well. All of the staff greeted us with hello's. We would go back for the food. Unfortunately we live about 45 mins from the Cafe...so...we will venture back sometime.

The food tastes great, the staff is attentive and friendly, portion sizes are reasonable (you won't leave hungry), and the prices are affordable. They make a lot of their food (like soups) from scratch on the premises. It's like a diner only better atmosphere and higher quality food. They offer take out but not delivery. They're open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner Monday through Friday and breakfast and lunch on Saturday and Sunday.

I had crab stuffed haddock. It was the best. Great place to eat and good service.

Stopped in here during their last hour of business on a Sunday and even after their long, busy day of service, the experience was great. We had just finished birding and building up an appetite at the nearby Kanakadea Park. We got a Reuben and Bacon Cheeseburger, both with fries (they're battered), and a side of coleslaw. I got an extra side of thousand island dressing with the Reuben and it was huge! The coleslaw was finely chopped, very creamy, and had pineapple. The burger was thick, juicy, and cooked to perfection. All the food was good! Only possible complaint is that the portions of fries seemed a bit small. The servers were kind, helpful, and friendly. The food came out in a timely manner and is reasonably priced. The bathrooms were also very clean and in good shape.

I had a really mid salad that had too much onions. Buffalo wing soup was alright but could've been spicier/less carrots. The atmosphere is decent and the servers are very friendly.

Food is always good. Only complaint is that lately, every time we have gotten the mac salad there is hair in it, kind of ruins your entire meal when you almost swallow a hair that is definitely not yours, will remember that in the future and will not be getting the mac salad side again...or will just go elsewhere

The tuna melt was 11/10, the waffles were bleh (very chewy), the egg and toast was great and salad was a bit soggy. Carrot cake was delicious! The veggies in the omelette weren’t cooked at all and it seemed like they made the egg first and then threw the veggies in after. Service and location was great!

I called to place order to go 11/20/24 around 3 pm. The girl asked if I could hold. I waited over 10 mins. I could hear her talking, she had forgot she put the phone down. I went up to order. When I asked to place my order, she never even apologized for the phone incident. She got upset with me when I received the order and didn't tip her. She never gave me everything I ordered. So I asked for the horseradish and sauce, she shoved them into my hand and said keep your opinions to yourself. I asked to talk to her manager and she laughed and said he's not here, I have to deal with her. Not a good waitress. Don't know her name, there only 2 waitress there, she was not the black haired one. Never going back. Never had a problem before today.

Nice place, bigger than expected, very well maintained and clean. Breakfast menu was very heavy with bacon, ham and sausage, not a lot of meatless options. Had the Greek omelet but the fillings were not cooked into the omelet just put in the center with the egg wrapped around. Fillings just fall out, not very flavorful. Home fries were great! Stuffed French toast was yummy!

Not a bad road side diner. Kinda surprised my trash plate only had one cheese burger on it. My girlfriend had chopped beef under gravy. Gravy was not homemade either were the mashed potatoes. Both were from a can it was still great food. The coleslaw was like a puree. Maybe for the older generation. Wasn't the best. The Mac salad was outta a can and bland. The root beer soft drink was delicious. Reminded me of homemade soda. Place is always packed for a reason. I'll be back for some thing else next time..

Some of the blandest food ive had in 25 years of life. They dont season ANYTHING, not even salt on their fries. I got a burger and they some how made beef bacon and cheese taste like nothing. This place is the opposite of flavor, avoid it unless you dont care how your food tastes.

The food is okay, nothing to write home about. We were a party of four at lunchtime on Sunday. We got our drinks in a timely fashion, but waited a inordinately long time for someone to take our order. I finally stopped one of the ladies and told her that we were still waiting. After that, she was fairly attentive. It took forever for our food to come out. We ordered a sandwich and three breakfasts, none of which would have taken that long to prepare. We watched other diners, who were seated after us, taken care of much quicker. This was our second visit. The first, back in December, was equally unsatisfying. Unless you are a regular at this diner, prepare to be ignored.

I had gone there for "all day breakfast" after reading the reviews only to find out it ends at 11 a.m. Then I decided to order fish fry (due to the great reviews) and found out its on Fridays only. Lastly, read a lot about their nice service and behavior but oh whelpz...that was also out the window. I will never return there due to lack of poor customer service. But hey, the beef barley soup was alright.

As a business owner i understand the importance of making EVERYONE feel welcome and I just did not get that from this place. My family and I normally dine up the road and decided today we will try someplace different. We were greeted by an odd stare by the staff and clients but seated quickly even though they looked very busy. The food coming out looked great subs, sandwiches but we ordered a regular eggs, an ham patty, home fries, and French toast with the works to share. My husband ordered the same but added an order of corned beef hash. My daughter ordered bagel with eggs, bacon, cheese and home fries. After already feeling like we were a bother because we asked her to come back to take my daughter’s order, we had to flag her down to get a refill on our coffee. My daughters home fries were fried ours weren't and despite the fact we try to stay away from fried food hers were better. The food wasn’t particularly bad but the overall experience there was terrible. The lady who served us had us feeling rushed. She was very irritated at us when we kept asking for our corn beef hash bc we wanted to eat it with our eggs. We even caught her rolling her eyes at another employee after ignoring my husband’s attempt to get her attention. After that another sweet lady helped us the rest of the time. While I was walking out I heard the employees asking did we at-least tip? Just not as friendly as everyone else on these reviews are making it seem. We probably will never be back. And just in case you are wondering we did tip regardless of the fact that we left feeling a bit embarrassed and genuinely not welcomed at all.

My veggie wrap was served in a puddle of liquid next to French fries. This made my fries soggy too. The veggies were not cooked well. The waitress never asked if everything was good, I had to ask for hot sauce twice before getting any. I would not recommend this stop for lunch.
