Opinions de Cafe Acapulco Arlington
Went in today with my family for the first time and the food was AMAZING. I had the ground beef chimichanga and it was pretty good. We will definitely go back again.
My first visit here and I must say it was surprisingly good! I had the crispy tacos and my wife had the cheese enchiladas and they were both good and not greasy! The chips and salsa was good, but salsa is very mild which is fine for my liking! We had 2 sodas with it and out the door for $23. The staff were nice and efficient! I will definitely be going back!! 2 👍🏻👍🏻 up!
Just stopped in by chance for a little lunch. Got the Appatizer Sampler and everything was excellent. Great flavors and well presented, we will be back for dinner soon!
This is the BEST mexican food place that I have been to in years. The food is excellent and lots of it!!! Hensley is the best waitress ever. This is the place to come to enjoy a good meal and get treated great!!!
*updated 07/2024 still one of my favorites. Jose (owner) is an amazing host and always greets the regulars. Such a Variety of food and it is always fresh and hits the spot. My hard to please with Mexican food husband has become a regular too. A must try!!! One of the most authentic and homey places. Always great service, It is in the top 2 of my brunch places.
I'm so happy to be able to edit my review! A new owner took over the restaurant and kept the staff. He's done such an incredible job turning the place around! It's like a new restaurant! The quality of the food is consistently wonderful, the place is always clean, and even the decor has improved! The new owner, José brought in booths so there's more comfortable seating. The salsa is to die for and the enchiladas are top notch! I love it! I'm so glad someone came and breathed life back into this place! And I'm especially glad that he kept the staff! Linda is the best server and always treats me like family! I hope you enjoy your meal here as much as I do!! :)
Went there today with a friend of mine. Absolutely wonderful!!! The food was excellent and the restaurant itself was so clean and decorated just perfect. It is a nice place to go with a friend who lives here or an out of town friend. The service was wonderful. Unfortunately I accidentally got rid of my receipt and she had written her name on it. But she was there at noon today so it would be very easy to figure out who she is. Very upset I didn't keep my receipt but she was so friendly and so attentive. You just have to try this restaurant - I think you think you will love it all around.
Café Acapulco is easily one of my favorite spots in Arlington! Jose’s hospitality and the friendly staff make every visit a pleasure. Their frozen margaritas are simply unbeatable – the perfect way to cool off on a Hot-Texas day. The Mexican food is flavorful and authentic, and the covered patio adds to the laid-back vibe. The service is always exceptional, and the staff goes above and beyond to make sure you have a great experience. If you’re in Arlington and looking for fantastic food and drinks, Café Acapulco is the place to be!
came here for the first time about a week ago on a tuesday evening. upon walking in i was not only surprised at the size and ambience of the place, but was greeted with kindness by the host. both the host and my server (hate that I didn't get names) were so accommodating. the spot I chose to sit was next to a window in which the sun was shining through. At first I didn't mind it, but it began to set as I sat and they both made it point to check on my comfort simply for that, in which they were totally ok with letting down the shades for me. Both food and drink menu are full of treats, and luckily I made it on time for happy hour in which the drinks were delicious (passion fruit mojito was absolutely delicious). I can't wait to come back here. It's not the closest spot but it's not too far and I truly feel I chose this place for a reason in my search. Will GLADLY return.
I have been coming to Cafe Acapulco for almost 30 years off and on. It was good at first but went downhill for awhile. Now it's awesome!! Good food and good service! I love the fajitas and the hubs loves the cheese enchiladas! We both love the chips and salsa! If you haven't been in awhile, i urge you to give it another try! We will be regulars again!
My wife and I came here for dinner and let me tell you all of the food was good. Their flank steak however was phenomenal. I'd come here just for that. In my own opinion hands down best Mexican food in Arlington.
Both meals ordered were awesome. Their tortilla soup is loaded with so much variety and flavors! I was very satisfied with the friendliness and fast service of the staff. We will be back and will tell others to check them out!
Hadn’t been there in YEARS but heard they were under new management from previous owners- DELICIOUS! I tried the pupusas as I had never had them before - SO GOOD. Next time I tried Mitchell’s plate - the sour cream chicken enchilada was one of best I’ve tried! Went back on a Friday to meet friends - margaritas were quite tasty. I’ll definitely be going back - soon!
The food, service and atmosphere were great. We had 2 jalapeño margaritas, ratones, taco salad and pupusa dinner. The margaritas were great, the ratones were stuffed with chicken, the taco salad was as big as Texas and the pupusas were delicious. The cole slaw and bean dip are worth trying before you leave, very yummy flavors. The restaurant kind of reminded us of Scarface mansion for some reason. It's pretty outdated but still fun atmosphere. This place has the COLDEST beer. We had a beer right before we left and it hit the spot. We usually do pickup but we dined in this time. It was a great time and experience. Will always be back.
Visited this establishment this evening for dinner. Bought the fajitas! They were great! Chips and salsa were good. Only thing is the tortillas…not bad but could be better. Overall, we will be coming back to this place again!
If you're looking for some of the best Tex-Mex in Arlington, Cafe Acapulco is a must-visit! This family-run gem is owned by a former US Army soldier, and you can tell he puts his heart into everything here. The beef fajitas are honestly the best we’ve had in ages – so tender and flavorful! Their house frozen margaritas are perfect, too, especially on a warm evening. We love sitting on their awesome covered patio, and they always welcome our pup with a bowl of water. The care and quality that go into every dish really stand out, making it feel worlds apart from any chain. If you’re craving amazing food, a relaxed vibe, and genuine hospitality, Cafe Acapulco should be at the top of your list!
It’s the best food for the buck! The owner is there and will treat you a friend! Yea the place is dated but the service is great and food plus the drinks are always great! One of the most underrated restaurants around this part for sure! Give it a try!
I love this place. The owner is always here. His son is one of the waiters. They are so nicely and take care of us. The food and the drinks are good.
We visited on Good Friday after our church service. The service was excellent and the food, delicious. I decided to try something different, I always get the same thing when we eat Mexican food and the papusas and black rice and beans did not disappoint. Everyone at our table enjoyed their food. The owner came to our table and we enjoyed visiting with him for a few minutes. All in all, an awesome dining experience.
My husband and I popped in here for a quick drink. We are not from the area. The bartender was super friendly efficient and talkative. We felt at home. There is an old phone booth that is near the restrooms that doesn’t work but it’s a cute focal piece. Stop in for a drink and a snack. You won’t be sorry.
I ordered a Fajitachanga for the first time today and it was absolutely delicious! I customized it by having double guac instead of sour cream and double rice instead of beans. The chips and salsa was also fantastic and Kat served me well with a smile. Thank you for serving excellence!
Arrived for at dinner at 6pm. We were greeted immediately. Staff was super friendly and attentive. We were served chips, salsa and beans dip to start. All of our food was really good. Rice was seasoned really well. Steak fajitas were amazing!!!! Definitely recommend and will be our new favorite place to eat.
Best enchiladas in the area. Quiet during the day a great atmosphere at night. Excellent margaritas. The manager, Jose, couldn’t be more accommodating. An absolute MUST TRY if in the area Excellent happy hour too! The drinks are strong!
How is this place not packed all the time? The food is OUTSTANDING!!! I have liked everything I've eaten here. Gotta try the street tacos! You like it spicy, put that green avocado sauce on it....fire!!! Very reasonably priced! I will hate it if I walk in and I have to wait like other restaurants, but it would very well deserved! If you are in the area and you like Mexican or Salvadoran ....THIS is the place to go! Should be on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives!
Apt hunting with my son. Happened upon Cafe Acapulco nearby. So far, the best Mexican meal in Arlington!
I fricking love the black beans!!! They’re amazing, along with everything else I’ve had from here. Also a huge fan of the cheese Pupusas. Totally worth a try if you’re curious.

I hadn't been here in at least 10 years and decided to try it again, food is super delicious. I really loved the salsa, it has a great level of spice. Quesadillas great too, flavorful and stuffed with chicken. The dishes are fairly expensive BUT the portions are also quite large so I think it's fair! Excited to come back again.
Definitely will be coming back . The food was really good and I really enjoyed the tamale de pollo salvadoreño, and the pupusas. The service was really friendly. We also had a mango mojito and strawberry margaritas, which were made right not too sweet. And had the right amount of alcohol.
Food was DELICIOUS! Some of the best fajitas I’ve had! Gata was the only waitress for lunch and she was incredible! So friendly, personable and efficient! Definitely would come back!

Another local spot we tried for the first time. Our food was really, really good. The portion sizes are very big and a great value for the money. I tried a Ranchero chicken enchilada with shredded chicken and my husband had a taco dinner. Both had more food than we could possibly finish. The ambience in the restaurant can use a little work, there are ceiling fans going and really bright lights. We would prefer a more dimly lit setting without fans blowing on us but you can see they are trying. Our server was prompt and courteous. Overall a very good experience and we will be back.. but not on date night.
After years of driving by, we've recently started going, and it has become one of our favorite Mexican restaurants! Their menu is extensive, and we've enjoyed everything we've tried. Love their complimentary chips, salsa, and hot bean dip. The white queso is awesome! I only gave it 4 stars because it desperately needs to be updated and freshened up, but being privately owned, I can also understand the financial limitations. This is a neighborhood gem and I'm thankful to have it nearby since we visit regularly.
I had a good time there, it does have room for improvements like the food it was alright just tasted decent. It wasn't real packed there was only one waitress in the whole restaurant it seems.
First time here and the manager was very friendly and helpful. The chimichanga rivals Chuy’s! I’m not even fond of steak but my hubby convinced me to try it and….it was…. DELICIOUS!!! We will be back.

They probably deserve five stars for everything but I'm feeling a little lazy. The food is okay but it's Texas and it's Texas. You have to go out of your way to find that tex mex. In whatever you do if it says authentic Mexican food runaway.
The staff was friendly and competent. The food was good and fairly priced. The drinks were fine.

I didn't like the salsa. Thats one of the main things i like to enjoy at a mex restaurant but their salsa did nothing for me. The guac wasn't good either. Papusa ok. Pretty bland really. Brisket enchiladas were ok. Tough to chew and tasted more like pot roast to me. Sweet tea was nasty. Had that fermented/old taste. The fried plantains were good. Queso was good and i added a side of ground beef with it and that was good. I ended up taking the brisket out of the shell and put the rest of my ground beef in and i liked that better. Overall i would recommend and hope you find something you like. I probably won't return though.

It was disappointing to spend over $40 for two people and eat very little of my meal. The tortillas had a store bought feel and were very heavy. Half were stale and they all had a mysterious green spot on them about the size of a nickel. Gross. The bean and rice seemed like something I’d have gotten from Taco Bell, overcooked and not fresh. I hate to write reviews like this about a local business, but I spent way too much money to let it go.

Came to try the place out for the first time and the online website said they closed at 9:30. Arrived before 9pm and was told by the server that they were already closed. Bummer. I won't be back.
Chips are not good, salsa is old and separating, black bean dip is bland. Ordered carne asada and was disappointed in the freezer burned steak that was not the size stated on the menu, fries were twice fried in under temp grease and were overcooked and soggy, ketchup was also old and separated in the bottle. On a positive note the margarita was good and server was friendly. Maybe a good spot to grabs drinks but stay away from the food
We liked this place for quick, inexpensive Mexican but it has really gone downhill recently. Missing entrees, lack of consistent ingredients and an incredibly rude manager have forced us to make a change. Beans are good but management with no motivation for issue resolution are a no can do.
I will say the owner and the servers/workers seemed very nice, however has someone who is mexican I was very disappointed over the food me and my mom went hoping for some good Mexican or at least Tex Mex food. My tamal was dry with no flavor except a sour flavor. I’m pregnant and this has been my craving so imagine my disappointment. My enchilada was mediocre and falling apart along with being dry and again no flavor. My moms ceviche was not good either. The only thing that I could eat was their rice and beans. Its hard to say because everyone was so nice but the food was a disappointment. It was not worth 32$:(
First time here & they definitely need to improve. The food was okay. The presentation of it definitely could’ve been better. It was like a lot of the food was just thrown together. They seemed understaffed but our waiter was cool! Had a slight sense of humor. But other than that I wouldn’t eat here again. Nothing looked clean & overall everything just seemed like nobody really cared to be there.
**Check to see if you've randomly been charged again from this place at a later date. We went here for lunch on a work day. It wasn't busy but they were just opening so it was a little slow. The food was good and they seemed friendly. So our initial experience was a good one. Almost 2 months later, all 4 of us that went, who had all paid separately, had new charges on our credit cards from this place. It seemed odd that we all got charged (different amounts from our original cost) all within a 3 day span. We went in person to get it straightened out. The initial reaction of the owner was him telling us that he didn't get his money the first time, so he recharged us. We explained that we were charged the first time and this second time. We also showed him that they were totally different amounts. He was reluctant to help us and initially told us to dispute it with our credit card companies. His explanations kept changing and apparently this had happened with others. He eventually rectified the issue, but if we hadn't noticed the charges, he would have gotten paid twice! I can see errors happening but to have this happend to multiple people and then to not want to fix it and to basically blow us off - you work in customer service. The initial reaction should have been to apologize and find a solution, not tell us you didn't get paid so we should dispute it with our credit card companies.
Ok. S T A Y A W A Y!!! BLACK MOLD WATER SUPPLY LINES, SMELLS LIKE A BAR/SEWER DRINKING WATER LINES ARE BOTH CRACKED & CROSS WATER CONTAMINATED. And also when you order fajitas as soon as they bring them to your table sizzling they pour soy sauce all over it. Eeww!! I'm talking about tasting like having a bucket of s*** your mouth. The CHIPS are cooked in old grease & the very tasteless, generic the cheese was not real like the imitation corn tortillas. Nothing good here I can see it all. The only reason I gave it one star was to activate my review.
They don’t know how to make pupusas here. They sent me 3 tortillas and charged me like $17 for this order. Don’t order pupusas from here they used to make them pretty good but I guess the person that made them before left or was not there tonight. Masa was way too tick and no cheese at all I pulled them all apart and not ever a single thing of cheeses
We got three tacos. Two were chicken and one was pork. The two chicken tacos tasted fair and the pork one onee looked like fried pork skin. It was as if it sat under the heat lamp for three days 🤢. Please take some pride in what you do. That was nasty. If that was all you had I would rather be told it was out. All of the pork looked like the pieces in the photo and were completely hard.

Order pick up pupusas and those are the worst pupusas in town. There were more mass than filling and the cabbage salad was old. Not planning to order pupusas from this place.
I genuinely wanted to like this place, but the food was shockingly bad. The queso tasted old and straight from a can, and the salsa had bizarre, off-putting flavors. The rice and beans were gross, and the flautas had a strange, lingering aftertaste—honestly, every single item tasted wrong. The enchiladas were downright disgusting; it was the first time in my life I bought a plate of enchiladas and threw it straight in the trash. Even the tiramisu had freezer burn. The horchata? Completely pathetic. And on top of all that, the prices are WAY too high for food made with such cheap, low-quality ingredients.
