Opinions de China Pagoda Astoria
When I moved to the neighborhood, I was fretting about finding the right Chinese restaurant - this is the one I landed on. Best prices and most complete menu in east Astoria. Very consistent quality, as good as a standard chinese take-out meal can get. Their combo plates are gigantic, and it is worth the extra $0.50 to get the hot & sour soup as your side. I also enjoy the vegetarian spring rolls. I believe they have a halal certification as well, and I often see people eating their friend chicken. I should also mention, the staff is very friendly and polite. Smiles and as much sauce as you need without the stink eye that comes along at most other places.
The employees are very friendly. They treat us with kindness. Also, the food is delicious and very good quality. This is the best Chinese Halal food out there.
Best Halal Chinese spot in Astoria 💫👌 Very clean food. Always Fresh ingredients. Big portions. Very reasonable prices. Family run business 👏 👍 🫶 😋
The best Chinese Halal food in New York. The employees are very friendly and serves the food with happiness and respect. 100% recommend.
Mainly takeout spot but good quality ingredients and great taste. Solid halal Chinese spot and a good replacement for Fatima’s Kitchen.
The staff is very friendly and helpful, and the food is delicious. They give generous portions and at a great price. Everything you could ask for!
Best chinese food I've had in my entire life. + halal, which makes it all the better. No lie lol. Favorite: Chicken + Veges + Brown rice + Hot sauce that is in the boxes.
Nice and simple. Delivery came in rather quick. Delays are to be expected during busy hours. They also give you a lot for what you order. Will be coming back in the future.
Best halal Chinese place in Astoria. The food is great. The customer service is great. The price is great. Better than any other halal Chinese restaurant in Astoria.
Very good Chinese food with reasonable price. Front desk is very amicable. Will definitely go back from time to time.
My favorite Chinese takeout restaurant. Owners are such a nice family. Food is fresh and portions are generous. 5 Stars Always. Thanks!
People who said this restaurant is bad really need to re-evaluate themselves, as well as their taste buds. Just because you're having a bad experience, doesn't mean you can downright bash this place. Food and Service are both pleasant and amazing; Although I do agree that they need to learn to smile a little and show some enthusiasm. I feel like they detest working there sometimes but nonetheless, the food and whatnot is perfect. Would highly recommend you at the very least TRY it.
people very nice,food is good👍
a perfect Halal authentic chinese takeaway spot. It's a family run restaurant and the people are too kind and nice. we ordered a big one. Fried rice, Beef szechuan, Beef chili, Low mein, vegetable, seasme chicken, prawn toast, wonton soup. we loved all the items. the portion is HUGE. the large size can easily feed 2/3 person. Price is reasonable. They don't take much time to. prepare food. Would definitely visit again. the place is not parking friendly, we had to spend 20+ minutes to find a spot.
After fatima’s halal kitchen closed not much of halal chinese in queens specifically astoria people started finding this gem after seeing it’s another halal chinese tbh the old fatima’s halal chinese is the best the one in astoria not the jamaica one I still believe this place is a million times better than fatima’s this place asks you only to wait ten minutes and they’ll give you amazing halal chinese food thank god for free delivery because their quick with their delievery service also the the register guy is very chill and very friendly this replaces the old fatima’s that once used to be in queens also their great during ramadan after taraweeh I practically eat here 10 times a month it’s that good and affordable I always recommend lunch and dinner special and they have great drink choices! Been eating here for 3 years never disappoints once!
Ordered sweet and sour chicken off the lunch menu. Price is very good for the amount of food you get. One free egg roll or soda, the food is HALAL! Food came very quick so that was a plus.
One of my top picks for Halal Chinese in the City along with No Pork and Fatima. Have tried a few dishes including kung po and general Tso - no disappoint any of the times. There are 3 tables so this is mostly a take away shop. Parking can also be limited in the area.
My go to for a couple of times a week lately! Going through all of the Chef's Specialities. Highly recommend the Happy Family. Posting full menu here for reference.
Best Chinese food in Astoria, hand's down the best hot and sour soup I have had anywhere

Good food. Good portion. I ordered Kung Pao Chicken and Fried wings. My new go to place for Chinese food.
Food is always quick and delicious. I like the pepper steak
I eat from here very often, love the food, always hits the spot, and the lunch special is great!! Highly recommend , very tasty
This no frills neighborhood Chinese spot is some of the best in Astoria. I've been ordering here for over 2 years now and it never disappoints! Some of my favorites are the general tso chicken, triple delight and egg foo young. It's halal too.
Owner and son very nice guys . They don’t know me but I’ve been coming since high school on and off . I absolutely love their business and inshallah they are able to open a second location in Jackson heights so I don’t have to travel . Alhamdulillah they deliver and the food comes hot and fresh just as good as it would be in store . I got a general tsaos combo with a soda and an order of cheese wontons that came with a sweet sauce . Absolutely delicious like everytime . I just felt like reviewing today because it’s the first time I ordered delivery and was surprised to find such quality and care (for exactly the cost of my food and tip . No weird fees) compared to if I ordered off doordash . So happy I delivered to boycott doordash and decided to see if they would delivery before considering to download door dash again . Very student friendly place . My husband from Brooklyn even said it’s the best Chinese he’s ever had when I took him . I think it’s gnna be one of or reg quick cheap eat out places now . Me and him get off off one combo and an order of cheese wontons . With me alone it last 2 meals . It’s perfectly cooked with love and respect for people and food .
amazing and very sweet people i come here so often because of their hospitality and impeccable food. def recommend if you’re looking for a good halal chinese spot

Very good portions, decent pricing, tasty halal Chinese food, a bit far but worth it. Although, definitely miss Fatima’s Kitchen.
Food is great.. The price is right.. The Place heater must break every so often because its soooo cold in the dinning area... You must keep your coat on while you eat
I love Chinese food. I go there every week. And most importantly it's halal. Love their chicken wings 😋
The food is great, the price is inexpensive and the staff is very polite. No one of the staff is Muslim but the owner is Muslim “Just to comply with the word “HALAL” accordingly”.

I loved the beef dumplings. They are really good. But I didn’t like the sweet and sour shrimps. Too oily, and crust is so big for the shrimp.
I have yet to find a quality chinese restaurant in Astoria. They are all mediocre and get worse as you get closer to 31st street. People don't seem to expect ar ask much on 30th Ave.
I got the szechuan beef and it was awful. It had so much bean paste it was overwhelming. It was not spicy at all. He got the sesame chicken which was uneventful. The pick menu said $.50 upcharge for hot & sour soup. It's actually $2.00. Will be looking at another place.

The food was decent but was definitely not worth 7.35 for the portion. I got beef fried rice.
i have been ordering and eating food from this Chinese store ever since it has opened. when i called the store and ordered a pepper stake with onion for pickup, i specifically told her to make the my food soft due to my tooth problem. the lady that i was speaking with confirmed that my food would be cooked the way i wanted. when i ate the food, the meat was hard like rubber and the pepper wasn't cooked. i sent my son to either exchange or refund the food. They didn't refund or exchange my food for me which made me furious because i paid money for it. I called them myself and they were disrespecting me by putting on a continuous hold. i don't recommend ANYONE to go and waste money there due to the inconvenient service that was experienced. There are many halal Chinese stores that would give me a better food quality and a better service.
The worst experience at this place and it was my first time too. Asked if they had chicken teriyaki which I repeated 4x as the lady at the register once said “we do” and then said “huh”, finally said yes they have it. Then gave me the driest chicken kabab with brown rice. I was running late for class so didn’t open food to check order as I couldn’t even imagine a restaurant would scam me like this…. I was starving at the end of class and opened my food to find a disaster….
Had me wait over 2 hours for y food just to deliver it to the wrong address. When I called they tried to put the blame on me EVEN THOUGH I PUT MY CORRECT ADDRESS and hung up on me 2x. Im still waiting to get my refund from uber eats
The food has downgraded soo bad dont even waste your money hete the half fried chicken is rubbery and crusty and theyre fried rice is just bland and theyre beed if rubber plastic dipped in soy sauce, like go to fatima's halal kitchen way better
This place was great before covid 19 shutdown. They closed down and reopened. Not sure if new owners but we ordered general tsaos (a standard that we ordered many...MANY times before the shutdown) and this time it was overcooked to the point of not being able to chew it!
Horrible customer service. Rude staff and never call ahead because they seem to not understand concept of time.disappointed every single time. Food is okay . I wish Fatima’s kitchen reopens, would not bother with this place
Prices on the app. are different from the menu in restaurant. The guy behind the counter got irrate and started cursing and carrying on at my husband because he asked him why the prices are different. On top of that he said he was going to call the police, but husband is a retired officer. Whoever, owns this establishment should in firer the guy behind the counter, update your app. menu with the correct prices and provide better service. Hope you enjoyed the food that you cooked for me and would have purchased. You went from 30 dollars to zero dollars. Was it really worth it.
Ever since the owners changed, this place sucks now!!! The food doesn’t taste the same, their customer service is terrible and the new manager is extremely cheap! Will not be ordering from here anymore.
Placed order for pick up and received confirmation, but when I stopped by to pick up they said they didn’t make it because their system was broken - but the order was in their app. Not sure what happened but was a bit put off by the attitude.
Horrible. I ordered fried rice from these guys, and the rice wasn’t even well cooked. General tsos chicken didn’t even taste good either. If ya’ll looking for decent quality halal Chinese food, then I suggest that ya’ll try King Wah in woodside. Never ordering from this place again. Sorry.
They falsely claimed and marked in the Ubereats app that my food was delivered and it wasn’t. I call them since my food was taking taking two hours to arrive and they say 10 more minutes. After 20 minutes I report to Uber my food wasn’t delivered even tho the restaurant marked it as completed (their own driver they use never reached out to me). I get fully refunded but then a full 3 hours later the driver show up with cold food asking I pay in cash (!?). After I say no and close my door the driver comes back and asks me to speak to their boss. I explain to them how I don’t want to pay for a 3 hour late order and don’t want the food either. They proceed to try and yell over the phone at me in Chinese. I hang up and they spam call my phone 5x — what a joke. They also treated their driver horribly over the phone. Bad service, bad owners. Will never order from here again.
I ordered Shrimp Mei Fun with beef (for $1 more) and upon returning home I didn't get the Shrimp. I then called and spoke to one of the guys that work in there who was very respectful to me on the call and stated his manager will call me back for compensating. I received the call moments later and I'm explaining what had just occurred and he was very aggressive and agitated repeating that I was wrong and hung up the call on me. Obviously me being pissed off that I even spent any money at this place called him back fuming. Do not recommend, better off up the block at the next Chinese place.
This place used to be good, the food quality has gone downhill though. The food never tastes fresh, and there's always too much of something in their food. The reason we DON'T order from here anymore is due to the person who keeps answering the phone to take phone orders. We dealt with her disrespectful tone the first time, but it became increasingly worse and persistent over time. She would audibly sigh, sound annoyed, and very rudely respond to you. We just decided to stop ordering here altogether because it wasn't worth being treated so awfully every time we ordered for subpar food.
Called 11:35 when they were supposed to be open. Got there 11:42 and they're told me they weren't open. Called and they told me they were running late, and instead of declining the order they kept stringing me along until 12:00pm
I called to put in my order but the lady on the phone doesn’t understand anything and had me repeat the order multiple times. They also didn’t give me my full paid order. Some things were missing. on top of that, it took her soo long to understand my address and put me on hold for so long for nothing without even telling me if she was able to take down my order. So I called again and gave my order and the guy told me no one has my order so I gave him again. Then the lady calls back and put me on hold again for nothing… when I got my food it was so bad. Hard to chew, literally just rubber. And bland fried rice when I asked for spicy. Just place is not worth it at all, AND they over charged me for the whole thing as well just because they couldn’t get my order right and I called back 3 times.
The place and kitchen is filthy. I entered the restaurant with my kids expecting a good experience as its our first time trying Chinese food. We got general Tsu chicken, beef and chicken dumplings, chicken nuggets, and Chef Tao chicken. While eating we noticed a bug in the broccoli, killing our appetite. We went up paid for our food and wanted to let the chef and person at the counter know about the bug in our good. Despite already paying and not asking for a refund, just for them to be more careful with other customers, the person at the counter starts lashing out at me and my kids. He cursed us in Chinese and accused us of putting the bug in the food DESPITE ALREADY PAYING AND NOT ASKING FOR A REFUND. Its was such a disgusting place and my kids were frightened by the experience. What ever you do, dont ever go there, and stay far away.
This store was horrible service over a seamless order that they delivered incorrectly so I canceled and received a refund and the owner calling and texting me harassing saying I shouldn’t have canceled the order. Won’t ever order here again .
