We had a party of 6 on a Friday night (Holiday weekend) and the place was full. We wanted outdoor seating and the staff got us a round table that was perfect for our needs. The food was great (I had a four cheese pizza that was delicious). The wait staff was knowledgeable about GF options and very attentive. Excellent service, great outdoor ambiance, and good prices and we will be back.

We just love everything about this place. Highly recommended. One of our favorites is salmon scampi!! Mmm. Delicious! I used to eat it while I was pregnant and my beautiful son, now 6, loves to order it too!

They offer a lot of choices from outside seating to covered outside seating to insects won’t get you, to no just having pizza they offer so many things it’s pretty amazing. They cater, rent for parties, have Italian icees, and a whole menu of great food.

Although it’s outdoor they have outdoor heaters and the waiters are very friendly. The two personal pies we ordered were amazing. One of the best we have had. We ordered a grilled chicken pie and a donatos special. Parking isn’t bad either on a Sunday. Would definitely come again.

Great food, great staff! They are doing their best to stay open and deal with the ever changing environment. They are always friendly and their grandma slice is some of the best I’ve ever had. Half the people complaining literally have nothing better to do or are the type to complain about everything. People need to realize things are not ok right now and we all need to adapt! Went for family dinner. The staff was amazing, the food delicious. The baked clams are perfectly cooked. Lobster tails were phenomenal. And we were treated to a complimentary dessert!

I reserved the front patio at Donato's for my wedding rehearsal dinner and couldn't have been more pleased. The food and service were wonderful and the casual but beautiful atmosphere was the perfect setting to welcome my out-of-town family. I've come to Donato's in the past for date nights and loved it then, but I love them even more now!

They have a solid menu for the day's special that should not be missed either. Their dishes are full and it's a great spot for family gatherings or a special occasion.

I come here very often and they are always accommodating on the holidays. They are very friendly to me and my family, all the servers especially Oscar. And a very welcoming demeanor to all customers (I literally saw them still welcome a table 30 minutes before they close with no hesitation). The food is great! Family style (for leftovers) and don’t get me started on their sangrias! Both white and red were great! You will not be disappointed coming here!!! And you will definitely see me there most of the time!!!

I go to this restaurant like it’s my job. Their chicken parm is so good, I keep coming back. I’ve been ordering this for 5 years now and the quality is just chef’s kiss. The service is okay 8/10. The guy in the front isn't very friendly. Everyone else is wonderful. The prices are iffy ex$1.50 for a normal size Poland Spring water. The pizza guy is fast and the pizza is good.(I mean at least it does NOT have sugar in the tomatoes sauce!) They do not only serve pizza but it's a pizza spot/restaurant. This is a nice hidden gem located about an 8-minute walk north of the 7 train. The service and food are well worth it. I had the chicken parmesan with penne. That, and the bread with butter and olive oil, were awesome.

The service here is fantastic! Very accommodating, friendly, hospitable. The food is delicious! Granted, I kept it simple but sometimes simplicity is what you need. For those complaining about the CC tax, they have it stated on the front of their menu! It's not a surprise, it's printed in b&w. I'm new to the neighborhood but I can see myself coming back for another solo date! If you love an Aperol Spritz, order it. It's HUGE and perfectly balanced. Thank you Donatos!

First of all excellent service !!! The waiter was amazing with checking in on us etc… On the other hand the food was perfect! The portions were good and it got me full. Price wise I think it’s affordable depending on what you order. My favorite dessert was the lemon sorbet. It was delicious and it was something that you just wanted more of. Overall I recommend this place to anyone that wants to dine in because it has both an excellent service and amazing food.

Only gluten free pizza (cauliflower crust) I’ve been able to find in Sunnyside, so that’s what I appreciate about this place!

What a pleasant surprise. Looks like a nice local pizzeria / restaurant from the outside. It is way more than that. I would say fine old fashioned Italian food done extremely well. The service was excellent. Great weekly specials. From appetizer to dessert the meal was near perfect. I will return

This review is only of the garlic knots. Haven't had anything else in there on that day. I ordered garlic knots, but if you like garlic knots .....yeah, not the place. They were hard and cold after they gave them to me after being in the oven for like 6 min. So my only guess is that they were at least 1 day old or from when they first opened. I went around 6 pm. I had them before, and I specifically asked for light ones. They tend to be softer and moist. So yeah, I had to throw them away after inspecting every single one and trying them by biting into it. Was left sad b3cause I was looking forward to really good ones. I've tried many and from different places. Again, if you enjoy bread and specifically garlic knots....this place is not it.🤷🏻‍♀️ sorry.

Amazing pizza, crust is crispy ingredients taste really good and if high quality. Only area of improvement is adding a tiny bit of oregano to the pizza to elevate the flavor a tiny bit more, otherwise incredibly great pizza. Be aware the tiramisu contains cinnamon for some reason. It looks exquisite, however it’s not authentic tiramisu

Ordered a Large Pie of Margherita and mozzarella sticks.everything was ok. The only thing I never understood that why they put fresh diced tomatoes as a topping.Next time I know I have to tell them NO DICED TOMATOES.

Like the outside dining but drinks r worth skipping (bar mixed) had the egg plant rolotini, lasagna dinner's & fried zucchini I highly recommend but otherwise appetizers r so-so & definitely pass on the disastrous stuffed artichoke soaked in peas & carrots 🥕 ukk ( olive oil, cheese & bread crumbs traditional ) there is also additional charge paying by credit card 💳 so u know ahead of time

The service was great, happy and attentive staff. The food is decent but far from the same food I had years ago. I've lived in this neighborhood for over 37 years and the Penne Vodka with grilled chicken has seen much better days. Never have I had chicken thighs roughly chopped in my penne vodka dish very disappointing. I mean if your gonna substitute chicken thighs make sure it's fresh and not dried-up old chicken. Let your customers know and give them the choice if they want that instead of freshly grilled filet chicken breast as it should be. Shame on you do better for your customers Donatos.

Pizza sauce is SALTY & they say icys are from lemon ice King I don't believe that at all coconut icy from lemon ice King has coconut pieces in them Donatos doesn't? Shrimp Parmesan hero lacks soooo much flavor.

They food use to be pretty good. I ordered the real marsala and was very disappointed had very little flavor the pasta garlic sauce the same. I don’t know they kyst have changed The chef. I won’t be ordering snymore

Just ordered the pasta carbonara , and let me tell you something about it! The sauce tasted like water! But the flavor was there! So 3 out of 5 stars! The garlic knots we’re great tho.

This was my 2nd time here for a big bday party. Food was ok not amazing, garlic pasta sauce was very oily, one dish came very salty and luckily they replaced the dish. Came in a Sat evening after Christmas, they didn’t offer bread or water until we asked several times after around 15 mins, one of the bread basket tasted stale. Just disappointed.

The staff was very attentive and pleasant but that’s really the only good thing about Donatos. We ordered the baked oysters as an appetizer- the dish came out very watery and half the shells didn’t have an oyster in them. My fiancé got the mixed seafood and I got the halibut. It was very obvious that nothing was fresh and everything was frozen. Rubbery fish is a big blech. After a very disappointing dinner (both of us were still hungry) the bill came out to nearly $100!! Very disappointed bc donatos is the only neighborhood Italian restaurant and we really wanted to love it.

Even with the restaurant’s C rating I still thought to give it a try. I had the stuffed artichoke for an appetizer and it was not very good-it was filled with a vegetable medley that is the kind of mixed vegetables one finds in the frozen section at the supermarket. It wasn’t very flavorful. For my entree I ordered the chicken Frances’s which was fine. The service was fine.

Dining out is finally back! I tried something different from their menu. Stuffed artichoke. I will never order stuffed artichoke again from this place. It was dry and overcooked. The stuffing was good. The last time I ate here was 2012. I will stick to the pizza next time I venture into this restaurant.

I think that each order of lasagna should bring its piece of bread and a little cheese, we ordered two orders of lasagna and we got 1 little parmesan cheese and half of a bread too hard!

Food is ok, service can be improved. Beware of a so called 3.99% credit card fee that gets added to your bill if you pay with a credit card. I came to find out of such fee until after the card was swiped. Bad business. Used to go there all the time, can't say I'll come back. I added pictures of the bill presented and then another of the bill with the Donato 3.99 fee. The fact that they don't tell you leaves you with a bad taste in your mouth.

It is such a shameful place. It seems they work hard to trick customers. It is an undecidedly questionable business practice. The food is mediocre at best. It is such an eyesore in the neighborhood. I am glad that they finally FINALLY removed the illegal sidewalk seatings. If you don’t want to do honest business, please go away.

I do not understand what the deal is with this place. The restaurant is HUGE, they have a ton of outdoor seating (taking up parking spaces that are valuable), and they are in a great location. They could be a beloved fixture if they wanted! Instead, they never seem to have much business and I avoid going there whenever possible. Their food is just not good. It’s not horrible, but just so uninteresting. Under-seasoned, over-cheesed. For a long time they had a B from the DOH. Further, their staff is so rude. My fiancé was recently picking up an order (giving them their last chance), and the hostess outside physically blocked him from entering the restaurant, despite the other customers going in and out. I’m just completely done with this place.

weird how my rating corresponds in no way to the food or service, which are great. we got two entrees, two starters, a $55 bottle of wine and when the waiter brought the card back after payment it was like $7 more than the bill originally stated. a credit card processing fee of 4% on restaurant food and a bottle of wine (hugely profitable items, that Sasarello I got was like $20 from Touton last time I checked, supply cost) is pathetic. will not be back to this place because the management/ownership obviously don't know how to select their service vendors. if they're cutting costs on how they take your money, imagine where they're cutting costs on the food. they won't miss MY business, but over the next year as less locals come back on weekdays it'll be hard for them to hold onto staff. Patrons will tip less and staff won't make money and the owners will tell you "no one wants to work anymore" but they do, they just won't want to work for you

No redeeming qualities. The food is over salted and overpriced for what it is. They’re there because of the location and nothing more. Captive audience and overpriced everything. Terrible food.

On 02/09 ordered from special menu the salmon & garlic bread crostini. The crostini was very oily & I was sick throwing up all night through early morning - couldn't go to work. On 03/02 ordered from special menu fish dish - woke up this morning with stomach cramps & mucus in my stool (never had mucus in my stool in my life!). Still having stomach cramps. Will have to see if this too will pass.
