Love everything about this place- the food, the vibes, and the great service. Fast turnaround on the food so if you want a quick bite this is the spot. One of the best tacos I’ve had so far in Queens (as a Queens native). Also they make all their tacos by hand and you can see it in real time. The La Bestia and the green sauce always hit. Will try the PB&J Margarita next!
Amazingly fresh and absolutely delicious food here!! This is my second time around. The first time, I brought home takeout to my family—and they all loved everything. Today I had to come back for the portobello mushroom tacos—which were even better the second time around. The staff and are all kind and attentive. The manager Jorge saw that I was seated right away and checked in with me several times. The location was clean and spacious and for some reason that I can’t explain: I am just smitten with these tiny bottles of their hot sauces (AirPods added for scale)—what a great idea—and shows how much the business cares about the small things, no pun intended. If you want delicious Mexican food, quickly served, in an unpretentious setting—with amazing service in Astoria queens—El Lado Taco is the place to go to! Thank me later!
Excellent service, the steak taco was a highlight! Looks like any bad reviews for this place have been from takeaway/online orders. Worth trying in person, everything was super fresh and the flavor was there. Highly recommend!
We were the only customers in the restaurant as it was only 4:30pm. The restaurant is super clean and I loved the ambiance. Our bar tender Jorge let me have a sip of the horchata slushy to make sure I liked it before I ordered and boy can I tell you… it was super delicious!!!! 🤤 My husband usually doesn’t like horchata but after I shared my sip, we ended up ordering 2 horchata slushies. Now onto the Happy Hour Tacos… every single one of the 3 were delicious… mixed vegetables, al pastor, and chicken. We ended up ordering 1 of each to start… but ended up order 5 more making it a total of 8 and we were both pretty stuffed. The flour tortillas were on another level!!! Cooked in lard and had a fantastic taste. I have never had tacos like that before. The lady was making fresh flour and corn tortillas right in the clear glass window for you to watch and see. The mixed vegetable taco was charred and grilled to perfection and it had cauliflower, onion and mushrooms inside. The chicken meat was dark thigh meat, so it was super juicy and you can taste the deeply marinated flavor that was soaked overnight. The Al Pastor taco was amazing!!! The pineapple chunks were so well charred, and then lightly dashed with Tajin powder. Our Favorite!!! My husband usually does not like Mexican food, but my gosh was he impressed with the tacos and the flour tortillas. We both do not like corn tortillas ever, but this place has totally changed our minds because the corn tortillas were quite thin, flaky crispy and super flavorful so now we will be open to coming back and eating more corn tortilla tacos. If you are ever in the neighborhood, please swing by and give it a try.
Me and my girlfriend had the most delightful time here celebrating Valentine’s Day. Tacos were clean and fresh. Our waiter was on top of everything and the bar was really nice.
Absolutely thrilled this place opened in Astoria! As someone who loves Mexico City, I can vouch that these tacos are as close as you get to the same quality and flavor. They are a new restaurant on the busy block, but I’ve loved all of their offerings and there is always something new to look forward to on the menu! Their breakfast tacos are superb, I wish they served them all day! There are tons of vegetarian options that are fantastic using mushrooms, cactus, eggs, beans, and vegetables. The fresh tortillas and salsas really perfect the flavor profile and I’ve loved the shrimp and fish options they recently added! Their corn tortilla is vegetarian and I think flour tortillas have lard. Highly recommend this little joint for some of the best tacos you’ll find in NYC! Will be coming here for years to come!
Do not skip this place! The breakfast tacos have become a staple in our household. How is it possible that I have lived so long without these homemade tortillas! My favorites are the mushroom and the bean tacos, but all of them are simply delicious... not to mention affordable. I wanted to keep this jewel to myself, but definitely want to also keep them in business.
fantastic tacos — the shrimp was standout and the salsa was 🔥. carnitas were also super juicy and flavorful. casual and quick, with great outdoor seating. perfect stop for lunch or late-night bite. highly recommend loading up and trying multiple.
The best quesadilla I’ve ever had! Amazing food and service. Very kind and knowledgeable server. 10/10 recommend for fantastic Mexican food!
Just discovered this new Taco spot. They serve freshly made tortillas every day with a lineup of irresistible taco choices! Their tacos are loaded and so juicy! Don't forget to level up with their amazing sauces. Definitely a great addition in Astoria neighborhood.

Perfect landing spot for Thursday breakfast. Attentive service, generous portions, attractive value. Miele del Monte was a perfect pick me up. Try all the sauces!
The best breakfast tacos I’ve had in NYC. Being from Texas, breakfast tacos are a staple and I have a high standard. These are incredible - the corn tortillas are soft, the salsas are flavorful and the right spice, and the variation of tacos is perfect. Easily my favorite restaurant in Astoria, we come every weekend for our breakfast taco fix! And the service is 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼
“El Lado Taco is a hidden gem. I didn’t know what to eat, and since I’m not a fan of American food, I decided to try this place out of curiosity. I ordered three tacos and got a free large coffee with them. The tacos were absolutely delicious! I have a lot of experience with Mexican cuisine, and without a doubt, the food here is excellent. The place is very nice, with a cozy atmosphere, and the staff is super friendly. I’ll definitely be coming back!”

Newly opend taco spot in Astoria that offers handmade fresh tortillas everyday. The vibe is modern with touch of Mexico City. The menu items are all less than $5, either breakfast of lunch. Some of our favorites are Al Pastor & Gaonera. If you are in the area you must definitely check this out!
Love this place. I’ve been here a few times, ordered online and taken out food. This last time I had breakfast tortillas and coffee. They were soo good. The server, Alex, was attentive and friendly. He made solid recos: Papas Locas, Cactus Sunrise, Clasico, Las Misgas. They were all outstanding. If I HAD to pick a favorite it was the Papas Locas— so next time I’ll order an extra. If your goal is to have fresh delicious food that is consistently good, at a great price point, this is the spot.
El Lado Taco is one of the best restaurants on 30th Ave, especially for breakfast. The breakfast tacos are fantastic. (Homemade corn or flour tortillas). I find myself here at least once a week. Plenty of indoor seating at tables or the bar. The staff is friendly and attentive. Try all three hot sauces! They’ve also got a full bar plus a strong lineup of hot drinks—coffee, tea, hot cocoa. The vibe is relaxed, bright, and airy. Highly recommend for locals and your out-of-town (or borough) guests.
Amazing food & staff!! I’ve been here a few times and the quality of food and the service is consistent. I often come here to work, have a few tacos, and chat up the staff who are super friendly and accommodating. The free coffee is a huge bonus!! If you haven’t dropped it, make a plan to do so ASAP!
El Lado Taco was absolutely incredible. From the moment we walked in, Javi and Alex took amazing care of us. Super attentive, friendly, and genuinely welcoming. They made great recommendations and made sure everything came out perfect. The food was fresh, packed with flavor, and you can tell they really care about what they’re doing. Service + food = 10/10. Definitely coming back. Ask for Javi and Alex, they’ll take care of you.

Just randomly walked by this joint and decided to stop for breakfast. the tacos were cheap but delicious. The different sauces were also amazing. service was very attentive.

This place is just ok. Expensive for what you get. Chicken taco was fine, nothing to write home about. Steak taco was awful. It’s just a greasy slab of meat you have to rip off with your teeth. Hated that. Margarita was decent. Staff was friendly. Tbh not sure if I’ll come back.

I ordered a delivery from uber eats and sadly, I was disappointed with the food in general. I had high expectations because of all the good reviews. I had the breakfast tacos (bacon, eggs and cheese&potatoes, eggs). They were alright nothing special. The potatoe taco had no flavor whatsoever. I also got the esquites and I’ve never seen anything like it before. It was very soupy. The only thing I actually liked was the guac and chips. Also, half of my horchata spilled in the bag. It would be a good idea to tape the opening for takeouts.

When they first opened, I remember I had a good experience. I’ve come back after a year and I’m not sure what changed. Ordered a steak quesadilla. Steak seemed to not be seasoned (no salt). It was oily. Pico was just diced tomato and some onion (also not seasoned). Quesadilla was 2 pieces but they cut the bottom of the tortilla so it was hard to eat (meat would fall out). Imagine stacking 2 tortillas together and cutting it in half. But then they stacked them like tacos so idk, felt unnecessarily difficult. And, heard the staff making comments on multiple clients based on how they had acted. I don’t want to imply that they were horrible comments but it’s bad taste to talk about clients that just left, especially when honestly, the clients were pretty pleasant. Came off as judgmental. Normally, at least you don’t do it in the front of the house. I also was charged $8 total, which honestly felt overpriced for the portion and quality. Not sure if it was an off day but it was disappointing. I hope this is taken as constructive criticism. Won’t be returning
17 dollars ($28 with charges and tip) for the smallest container of pozole and soggy tostadas. Food was sub par. Do not recommend. Plenty of other Mexican spots in the neighborhood that are actually worth it. I recommend Riviera Maya.
I AM 100000% CONFUSED about the reviews in this place. These are THE WORST TACOS I have ever had in my life. I went there very hungry with my family and left PISSED OFF. Al Pastor and chicken tacos were extremely over cooked and parched. Like literally not one drip of juice from any of them. We had nachos as an appetizer and I knew from the nachos that we made a big mistake. It was so cold outside that we decided to continue ordering. We didnt want to start all over again somewhere else. I REGRET NOT LEAVING IMMEDIATELY after the nachos. Every single taco my sister and I had was overcooked or burnt. The quacamole was bland. A little salt would've helped some. My brother had the Birria. 🙄🙄 Just NO!!!! I blame myself, because I always eat at Nene tacos when I'm in Astoria but decided to give someone else a chance. $150 for the worst tacos we've ever had and we LOOOVE TACOS, and eat them often.. I totally felt like crap for recommending "somewhere new". We paid the bill and left so angry. We even left 4 tacos untouched and didnt pack them to go. Definitely didnt want to take that home! Family agrees we WILL NEVER GO BACK. These 5 stars have to be a hoax or something.
