Yessica was amazing and gave us the best experience we had while dining. The food was off the chain!!!
Great Food Excellent services , Ana Maria the bartender she is the best !!!!
I’ve been coming here for two years and can’t recommend this place enough! Ana Maria and Pati are simple amazing, always super friendly and providing great service. The drinks and food are so delicious and their homemade desserts are the perfect way to end your meal. Thank you for always making me feel so welcomed!
Super yummy! Staff was really nice.
food was delicious and server was nice and fast. got the cachapa with steak and cheese. 10/10.
Came to celebrate my sister in law birthday and had a great time. The service was incredible, the food was on point and the atmosphere is perfect.
I've been to this place 3 times. Their drinks are good and the food is delicious. It's a bit dark in the back and it lacks atmosphere but, the wait staff is fast and friendly. We always get the table in the front and it isn't so bad; unless it's really cold and windy. The lamp over the front door is too harsh and drab. The food is good that's why we keep coming back. 😋
Food was great service was very attentive and good. Would definitely recommend checking it out. Big plus was that food came out fast
We found this place out of luck and it’s been so long since we’ve eaten somewhere that we actually enjoy! We will most definitely be back. Delicious food, drinks and the music was great! Music had us dancing in our seats while we ate. La mesera Estefany fue un amor.
She is a great person Patricia and coworker Ana amazing drinks and great service been coming here for 2 months and I love those girls
The Food Was AMAZING I was So Shocked. The Wait Staff Awesome the Bartender Made A VERY Yummy Delicious Drink For My BIRTHDAY Friend, He Even Went Out of His Way And Went to The Store To purchase the Strawberry! Henry and Wilson AWESOME! The Food Is Delicious No Complaints... I Am Definitely Returning. I Would TOTALLY Recommend. A+++
This place is sooooo goood. I had a sangria years ago when they first opened and it was the best I ever had . Went there this week for my Daughter’s Grandma birthday and wow it was just so great. Good, decor , service and the drinks are yummy . This place success is definitely based on the fact that they executed every part of their restaurant. Great job !!!
My partner and I ordered from here last week, as so many yummy food options are available in Astoria that it's hard to keep up. We wanted to give this place a try and WOW. The food did not DISAPPOINT. Seriously, the steak we ordered in our "build your own bowls" was so delicious and flavorful. Everything tasted fresh and delicious and I absolutely can't wait to try more things from here.
Patrica was the best server thank you so much for treating me and sister with kindness and hospitality.
The best Colombian restaurant, I’ve been in NYC over 3 years and today I found the best Sopa, feels like home, a little pueblo in Colombia. The food is amazing! I’ll be back soon. Probably every weekend
Stopped in for lunch on a weekday. Service was prompt and I felt at ease. My waitress is bilingual in Spanish and English (so am I), so I was able to communicate with her with ease in both languages. I ordered the bandeja paisa and it was fantastic. Reasonably priced at $25. Will be back the next time I’m in NYC.
Stephanie was great! Amazing food amazing prices and great music.
La Vecina is my favorite place in Astoria ! Every time I come out to the city I make sure to stop there. The food is excellent, healthy, delicious and you have the choice of making your own healthy but yummy bowl. It is also great for vegetarians or vegans or healthier people if you want to have something super delicious. But if you also are looking to have a cheat meal or make sure your calories are worth the go, this is also the place for you! Staff is very nice, attentive, helpful and are knowledgeable of what they offer, I love the presentation and atmosphere of the place ! Just go & see it for yourself 😋👍❤️ I highly recommend
Isabel was absolutely amazing! She was attentive, friendly, and made sure we had everything we needed. Her energy added to the great vibes of the place. The food was delicious, and the whole experience was perfect. Can’t wait to come back!
The food here was sooo good, we just had a couple arepas and a small picadita & frozen sangria, but it was really good! UPDATE: 2nd visit had 2 other arepas from the menu and a small beef rib soup, really good, plus a red and passion fruit sangria mixed with condensed milk! Soooo good! This place is so worth the visit, can't wait for next time!
Stephanie was an excellent host! Food was great!
Excellent service, food, and drinks. Ana Maria is the best bartender!! Fully recommended!
Amazing service every time you dine here! We love coming to La Vecina. The food is always seasoned and cooked just right. Stephanie our server is always so accomodating, polite and personable. She makes sure you enjoy your dining experience. We always come back because the food portions are big, prices are affordable, and the ambience is laid back and welcoming. Their drinks are also delish!
One of my favorite restaurants in Astoria. Good music and drinks 🙌 thank you Isabel for the speedy service!!!! She saw a picture of my cat and immediately showed me her baby kitten!!! 🥰 lmao they're twins !
Stefany was awesome. Great service and amazing food! Will come back soon!
Delicious lentil soup if you want something warm on a cold winter day. The pork arepa was delicious as well. I liked that the breading used for the arepa was soft and sweet yellowish color. Maybe it's made from corn? As opposed to the white sometimes kind of tough texture breading that are common with other arepa places. Maybe that kind is made from flour? Succulent, tender pieces of pork with the Maduro and cheese and any of the sauces they provide you with. Nice, clean airy, vibe and friendly staff make this a go to spot!
I loved it here! The food was really good, and the drinks were even better. I went for brunch and had a passion fruit sangria that was so good! Our waitress Patricia was super nice and helpful with giving us ideas of what to order and was very attentive. As well the rest of the staff very friendly. Will definitely be coming back soon.
Stephanie gave us great service. Food came out fast snd warm and the drinks were excellent! Thank you Vecina
The food is very good, I had a chicken arepa, the chicken has flavor to it and wasn’t dry, the inside was fill with veggies that had a nice hint of lime that complimented the whole arepa as a whole. I also had a salchipapa, the fries were well made, and had a crunch to them from the outside. The hot dog to fries ratio was very good. It wasn’t like most place where the ratio is off and give you so many fries and barely any hot dog. The food come out very quick after order. If you want a quick snack try their charred cob, it had a good charred ratio that doesn’t just feel like you eating burn corn, you still taste charred but it not over powering, the corn keeps it sweetness even after being charred. I also tried their sangria slushy, it was super good, had a kick to it but was super refreshing. The establishment had games on the side so it’s prefect for a hang out with a few friends. The environment is welcoming and very clean. The waitress is very nice and attentive, bring the food to you when it’s out. This place a must and I would be coming back again anytime I’m in the area. Side note This place has tv that place whatever game is on. So you can come out and eat without missing any of the highlights.
Amazing place and the owner is really friendly. He’ll help you decide what to order and give a couple of suggestions. Everything on the menu is good. There’s a couple of games you can play at the table too while you’re eating. Had the sour sop juice with water and it was great. Definitely add the sauces to the arepas and ask for the chili sauce on the side. One is enough as a meal on its own since it’s so good.
The Colombian burger is outstanding! Recommend La Mamacita cocktail. Ana Maria and Jessica provide great service, very attentive.
Delicious food!! Great drinks!! Great service!! Great vibes!! Warning-The Habañero sauce will make you see the devil. Recommend for anyone.
Been coming here to watch the Colombia qualifier games and the atmosphere is great. The food is delicious and the customer service is good. The owner is also very welcoming, thank you for having us.
Where do I start ? I love this place! I tried it for the first time a few months back with my girlfriend and I can’t wait to go back. The energy of this establishment was fantastic and welcoming. It is a hidden gem on Steinway Street, I just wish more people knew about this restaurant! As a marketer I would publish more content on all social media platforms for all to see. This place is really tasty and great to enjoy yourself with friends and family. Again, I only had this once but it is already on my top 5 FAVORITES. Can’t wait to visit again , thank you.
Delicious food and fun atmosphere. I came with my friends for a late night bite. Estefania was such an attentive bartender and server. The Colombian Burger slapped and the fries were amazing with the green sauce. 🤤
Ana Maria was an excellent host! She went above and beyond for our family! The food was really good highly recommend!
The first bite of this had me completely hooked. This spot meets high standards for food enthusiasts. The team shows selectivity in their kindness but never fails to deliver. La Vecina has earned my unlimited praise. The service is kind, the dishes wonderful, and the area is vibrant.
This place is my fav every dish they have is full of flavors and gives ur taste buds a real taste of the latin flavors. My fav is their steak bowls and the Pernil Bowls and they have really good passion fruit drinks!
Food, service, communication AMAZING! We had La Vecina catered for a Hispanic Heritage Month office event on 9/18/25 and we were pleased with the quality/cooking of the food - served warm and delicious. The restaurant even personally delivered to ensure we receive the order on time for our event - HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Huge fan of the chicharrones. Soooo delicious.
It's always a great time when I visit La Vecina, you can't go wrong with the Bandeja Paisa. The food was an 8/10 this time but I did arrive close to closing time so I'll still give it 5/5. The customer service is always excellent and the drinks 10/10!! If you want some authentic Colombian food this is the spot ! 🇨🇴🥘
Went at night with my husband and we had a great time. The ambience was perfect. The music was good and the volume was perfect so were able to have fun and deep conversations. The waitress was very attentative and made sure our food, drinks, and hookah were good. I ordered two frozen strawberry margaritas and it has the perfect blend of sweetness and alcohol. Great flavor. The food was perfectly cooked and well priced! There are many good things on the menu so it was hard to choose from. The Bandeja is my favorite. For $25 I received so much and took some home! A must try in Astoria.
The food here tastes good and there is variety bc it's fusion Latin food. But the first thing you notice is that the music is way too loud. We could barely hear each other sitting super close to each other. The atmosphere is like a night club but it's a restaurant so it's confusing. They had a live DJ tonight 3/28/25. The DJ was great. The music is really good though esp if you like Bad Bunny and all the cool Latin singers. The drinks are good and fun. The Hennessy colada was good and had plenty of alcohol but the ice was lumpy so it didn't get blended fully. I really enjoyed the choices of food coming from El Salvador (Curtido), Venezuela, Cuban, Mexican, etc, I loved the Maduros bc they were done perfectly and were ripe. The tostones were very crispy and some were too hard. The pernil was good but a bit dry. The food was good but the best part of this place is that there's a fusion of dishes from different countries.
We went to a restaurant down the block from here but ended finding out we couldn’t get in unfortunately but everything happens for a reason. I’m glad we found this place and enjoyed the game and delicious food and drinks, they were also packed out but we’re able to accommodate me and my wife to seats and amazing views and still get incredible service. The ambience was love and loud and beautiful, definitely recommend this place!
This is one of the best restaurants I have visited. The food and drinks were very tasty and with good temperature. The service was phenomenal because they really know how to take care of their customers. The atmosphere of the restaurant is really cool and they have a place in the back where you can take nice pictures. I will definitely recommend this place to eat good food and spend some time with friends.
This place was amazing! Such a hidden gem. We were a party of 20 and our table was ready for us upon arrival. The food was great!! Did not get one complaint. Also didn’t wait long for the food. The drinks were tasty! Our server, Patricia was so lovely. Very attentive and helpful.
Oh my God! This place is everything ! I love this hidden gem. The service was amazing I loved all waiters and they work together, super sweet and welcoming. They were all well kept and checked on us throughout the whole time. The food was to die for !! Not one complaint and the drinks were amazing and did the job. We loved it and would definitely come again.
A. Hidden. Gem. I need more people to know about this place because WOW. The service is always so friendly and on point. The drinks will have you giggling, and the food will have you ready to call it a night; I slept good that night. Although there aren’t many vegan options, you can make any plate vegan/vegetarian with their crispy chick’n option. I can never find a perfectly crispy vegan chicken, but I found it here! Everything mixes so well together and the side sauces (cilantro based hot sauce and Mayo/ketchup) satisfy my need for condiments. Lastly, the dessert isn’t on the menu, but please ask for the passion fruit moose!!
The food was yummy, the drinks were mid but plentiful, my server was on her phone at some key moments, and good luck getting her attention.
Dined in twice. Both times got the soup of the day. Absolutely delicious. Flavorful and filling. Strawberry spring salad was delicious as well. The soup de res was my favorite!! It was clean, service was pleasant and affordable. Unfortunately, we had the tres leche cake and we were extremely disappointed. Had no flavor whatsoever. We had one spoon each and that was all we could tolerate.
Cute contemporary restaurant/bar with great service, playing Latin pop beats. The food is a bit overpriced, comes in small portions, and tastes fine. We liked the virgin drinks and chicharrón appetizer. The ropa vieja was good, nothing special. The churrasco steak was disappointing for the $45 charge. It was very small, about half the size of a regular steak. It tasted fine as medium rare, nothing special; even if the churrasco had been average-sized it wouldn't have been worth the money.
It's a decent size place with a nice atmosphere. The food is good, but I have a hard time figuring out what I order.
The food was excellent—no complaints there. However, the service left much to be desired. That said, it wasn’t the waitress’s fault. She was working alone, handling both the bar and all the tables, which clearly wasn’t fair to her or the customers. Management needs to step up and provide her with the support she needs. She was doing her best under tough circumstances.
Food was a solid 8/10. The shrimp was seasoned very well and steak was fine. First round of drinks (first pic) were really good but i did not like the second one (last mamacita) but im also not a mezcal girlie so i can see how other people can enjoy it. The restaurant was empty and our waitress didn’t really pay us mind after we got the food so keep that in mind. Otherwise good little spot in Astoria
Went here for drinks and light food. DRINKS: The drinks are gorgeous but I didn't taste a drop of alcohol in them. Tasted straight up virgin, still very flavorful though. FOOD: The food was good! I had arepa with grilled steak, egg, ripe plantains (maduros), and cheese. Hard to eat without making a mess. The stuffed tostones with guacamole and shrimp was good. A little hard to eat. SERVER/SERVICE: Our server was very nice and knowledgeable. Checked on us consistently. Very delightful. VIBE: Chilled out with a bit of a lounge. Loud reggaeton music played.
I ordered a few things from here to try. I will say for the price it was a lot of food so it’s a good bang for your buck. The cachapa was really heavy and messy. The yuca balls were delicious. Probably the highlight of my meal and then we ordered the chicken soup. It came with rice and tostones. It was average. Nothing was wrong with the food. I just don’t think I’d order again from here. There wasn’t anything super special or memorable about the meal.
I had already ate here in other occasions and the food was pleasant, fresh and tasty, the waitresses always provided good customer service and the restaurant itself it’s aesthetically pleasing, spacious and clean. This past Sunday night however, I was extremely disappointed with the food I was served; pechuga empanizada ( breaded chicken) to begin with the chicken portion has been shrunken to half, it was locking freshness and taste, the rice was not fresh at all; some pieces were hard to chew and others felt like old rice, the beans were okay and the fries did not feel fresh or crunchy. Additionally I ordered maduros with melted cheese on the side and they were extremely burnt, not soft and not sweet, as of the cheese it did not feel melted rather stiff. Could have been a change in the chef or the quality of the food but I left feeling very disappointed with what I paid.
The service is good but could be better, the food not bad , price wise is a little expensive for the size of the portions But the killer is the tip they charge on everybody, which is 20% of the bill, even for a single dinner. Since when is the tip mandated ? I thought it was a courtesy for good service. I hate when restaurants do that. Not even Manhattan restaurants will do that. This place chooses what percentage they want for tipping
Food was nasty, lacked flavor, chicken was undercooked even though it looked cooked on the outside but wasn't fully cooked on the inside. The pictures of the food looked really good on google maps which is what lured me here in the first place but it didn't live up to it's images. I was completly surprised by it since it looked so good at first both in pictures and in person but it all made sense when I saw someone inside the restaurant prepping the food real nice on a platter and photographing it while using a ring light to enhance the quality of the pictures. No wonder it looked so good. If only they spent as much time as they did cooking the food right instead of photographing it then maybe the expensive platters would have been worth every dime. Don't get me wrong, the platters looked good and their menu has alot of potential but the quality of the food and taste just wasn't there. I was going to give it one star but I'll give it two just because the waitress was nice and the service she provided was good. They should work on making the food taste as good as it looks and then it'll be worth 5 stars. Maybe one day I'll give it a second chance and we'll see if they lived up to their google images next time around.
This place used to be good with decent prices and quality dishes but it went downhill fast. Each time I go prices keep going up and the quality of customer service goes down. The portions keep getting smaller so the $25 for the bandeja is not even worth it at all. I also have to repeatedly ask for things I need including the bill at the end when it's not even busy.
Drinks are good. Food is a step below average. Customer service is poor. And you have the audacity to charge me 20% gratuity for a por service performance. You couldn't even clean my table after my meal. Disappointing is an understatement. I've been an on and off type of customer, and the last 2 times I've been here, I've walked away with a sour taste in my mouth. Not giving you a 3rd chance.
My expectations were overwhelmed with the littlest amount of food that you can fit in a typical Bandeja Paisa. You only get one shot and while I will say the food wasn’t bad it did not justify the amount of money spend on what you can certainly find a loaded dish (for two) from let’s say traditional ’Pollos Mario’.
I generally love this place and the food is delicious but I’m giving them two stars because I came in when they opened at 12pm on Tuesday and their special for the day, oxtail soup, wouldn’t be ready for another hour. This was the only reason why I came so it was a huge waste of my time. If you know you open at 12pm and oxtail is your daily soup special, why wouldn’t you have it available?? I was offered Monday’s soup special instead because they probably had plenty leftover. 👎🏽👎🏽
So, I came here with a group of 4 other friends = 5 people. We had to literally walk around the bar to find someone to seat us. The waitress filled up our waters once, and we had to find her for the check. Oh yeah, we were the only ones in the restaurant. Food was fabulous, no complaints. But a 30% mandatory tip for that kind of service is crazy.
Food and everything is good but I don't like when the bill came because the waitress already add gratuity 18% on it. We came only 3 persons not a large group of party for 5 or 6. Normally my husband and I alway give 20% tip but I don't like the way they put gratuity on it. I saw customer only few tables maybe because of this.
If I could add ZERO stars I would. I placed an 80$ delivery order to this restaurant and never received my order. I called them and they said it’s not their problem because it’s through Grubhub so it’s Grubhubs fault - incorrect. I called Grubhub for a refund and they swiftly informed me that the courier is employed through their restaurant! Super unprofessional and unfortunate for them because that will be the last time i ever place an order with this establishment.
beware of this restaurant!!! complete fraud. My husband and my two children (8Y-2Y) went. First, did you have to scan the menu? not everyone knows how to do it) Second when they bring me the bill the gratitude of 20% was included !!! because according to them we use a table of 4 people and that is equivalent to a party. I find it abusive and above all that they include it without prior notice. the service was not for a gratitude of 20% a total robbery! The service and the food leave a lot to be desired.
Wow, I was so hyped to try this place but wow what a disappointment. I ordered a bandeja paisa and I honestly couldn't finish it that's how bad it was. The steak had no flavor, the beans are definitely canned. I had better bandeja paisa at cheaper places. The only good thing that I had was the mojito. I never write reviews but this place definitely needed one.
I ordered for delivery from here and after the food came and after biting into it, I found an orange piece of plastic in it. I called the restaurant and told them that my ‘la vecina’ had an orange piece of plastic, and they told me to send them pictures. So I did. They said they’d give me a call. I waited and waited and they never did. I called again, and they said they would give me a call back in 20 min, and as you can guess, they never got back to me. Absolutely unacceptable! Will not recommend. Edit: manager personally reached out and solved the issue.
I ordered a classic mojito, I requested it not to be too sweet. The bartender actually made it really sour instead and when I told her about it she said there was nothing wrong with the lemon. 😂😂 The service was terrible by Ana Maria and Patricia. They showed no interest in trying to rectify it. The drink was so damn sour I felt like I was going to get heartburn. Huge L!
DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE. Very disappointed. I order from here all the time as it is nearby. Today I received an order and they scammed me on the rice. When I called the restaurant the woman kept pretending like she could not hear me. And then said no mi amor it's the same amount. Not even seeing what I'm looking at. I asked them to send me more rice after paying $30 and she would not. DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE. VERY BAD BUSINESS.
I ordered delivery on Grubhub on 5/25 at 8:30pm. After over an hour, I called for an update and the woman who answered the phone said “a Grubhub driver never came. The food has just been sitting here.” The Grubhub app specifies they deliver their own orders and I told her that, and she said “oh I don’t know”. When I asked why the woman wouldn’t call sooner with an update and asked what would be done here she goes “I don’t know. I’m very busy. I’ll call you back later” and hung up. 15 minutes later I called back to see what was going on and got forwarded directly to their voicemail after 1 ring. Just my two cents, but she shouldn’t be answering phones if that’s how she handles customer issues. Left a bad taste in my mouth tbh. - Update: A manager called back at 10pm and said he’d send his own delivery driver out to deliver the order. Why this wasn’t done sooner is beyond me, but alas… I want to believe this is a fluke, but I see another reviewer had the exact same issue with them so I 100% wouldn’t recommend using them for delivery The manager was nice enough, but this was just an unprofessional experience. It’s now past 10pm and they said they’re going to deliver the food to me, but I’m not exactly super hype to receive cold food that’s been sitting on a counter nearly two hours after I ordered it.
Im not sure if the dine in experience is better in terms of food quality , but my delivery of a large sancocho de pollo y Cachapa con queso was embarrassing. 1. That’s not a large sancocho and seriously …. This is what you serve. 2. Cachapa con queso , did the cook have an argument with it and won or something . Finally taste was not good at all , just a bland mess. Never again , I do not recommend.
