I truly hope that every visitor to Athens is fortunate enough to discover this hidden gem! From every perspective—interior design, service, food, drinks, and music—this place is simply outstanding. The experience was made even more special when the chef personally visited our table, offering expert recommendations for both food and drinks. We had the Seabass Carpaccio, Beef Carpaccio, Octopus, Lime Seabass Risotto, and Cheesecake. Each dish was exceptional in portion, presentation, taste, and value. The only minor note was that the octopus was a bit chewy for our preference, but that’s just the traditional Greek preparation (a quick Google search will explain!). As for the cheesecake—it was absolute perfection, truly out of this world. We were eager to try more desserts, but unfortunately, they were unavailable at the time. Overall, this was an unforgettable experience, and I genuinely believe this place deserves Michelin recognition.

The food is sooooo good!! The best food I had in Athens. Highly recommend the smoked octopus and the cod!

We stumbled across this place and were impressed by the menu and the very polite man who gave us his card but didn't pressure us to eat there, unlike most of the ofther places around. We are very happy we decided to lunch there. The food was more impressive than the menu and the gentleman turned out to also be the chef, Constantine. Every dish we were brought was well presented and absolutely delicious. The service was impeccable with so many little extras, each one a delight. It was so good we returned for dinner the following night and were served by Gina, the friendliest, most helpful waitress. We had the two best meals we've eaten in a long time. A real gastronomic experience and fine dining at prices similar to most of the other 'standard' restaurants around. If you're in Athens and want a truly memorable meal, a visit to Grande Dame is a must

Had some of the best food we experienced in Athens here! Everything from the appetizers (we had the meatballs which were delicious) and all the other dishes we had - just amazing. Had tried the short rib (delicious) and the salad with fruit (forget the actual name) both delicious!

The food here is delicious!! We came here two days in a row because we didn't want to risk it by trying other restaurants when this one is so amazing. You will not regret it I'm sure if you come here. The service is also excellent

This was the best dinner we had in Athens! We tried the lamb and the coriander, chili, and lime risotto, and wow—everything was so fresh and full of flavor. The dishes were unique and seriously delicious. The vibe was really cool too, with good music and great service. Definitely a spot to check out!

What a gorgeous food! Set of Greek starters was incredible, with shining fish one. Crispy, still warm different varieties of bread. I assume homemade. Beef ribs amazing, so tender and succulent. Beautiful interior, superior service, plates like from famous painter hand. Definitely must come here and enjoy super amazing food! One of the best restaurant experience in my life (I had them a lot).

Five stars is truly not enough for this fantastic restaurant. If you want a relaxing atmosphere, eclectic mix of enjoyable music, excellent service & incredible food - this is definitely your place. The tsatziki appetizer is the best we have ever had. The marinated sardine appetizer is also excellent & served with freshly made delicious hummus. We will eternally crave their sea bass soup - a flavorful broth with a mixture of seafood. We were there for Easter Sunday & the roasted leg of lamb is absolutely scrumptious, served with perfectly flavored roasted potatoes. We also ordered the braised short ribs - and it is truly YUM. MY. - like everything else on the menu - FABULOUS. For dessert we had cheese cake infused with baklava - !!!!! - there are no words to describe how amazing this is! We love this place!! Thank you Athena for the best night of gastronomic delight!! ❤️😋❤️

Wonderful meal at the Grande Dame Athenian Tavern. We started with the variety of spreads (hummus, spicy cheese, taramosalata, tsatsiki) and marinated anchovies. I had grilled sea bass over a pasta “risotto” and my husband had lamb. The fish was perfectly prepared and the lamb was falling off the bone. Everything was wonderful but I think the deconstructed lemon tart was the star of the show. Just the perfect balance of sweet and tart with meringues that melted in your mouth. A truly memorable meal!

We were lucky for our Hotel Electra to recommend Grande Dame Athenian Tavern last week. Okay this is a must visit establishment if you want to have one of the best Athenian Taverns. As you walk in you automatically feel you made the right decision.once you start to receive all the wonderful dishes you ordered your smile and your taste buds start to perform. We were lucky to have met friends in Athens this year and our evening went very well. Complements the chef and all the staff. We will definitely visit again soon.

Superb Food; Supreme Hospitality; Pleasant Ambience We visited Grande Dame Athenian Tavern last night and it was a wonderful experience of authentic Greek food. Every dish was of exquisite flavour and presented tastefully. The staff was lovely and very informative: he recommended us a good bottle of wine and answered every question we asked about food and Greece in general with knowledge and humour. Highly recommend this place to anyone who loves quality cuisine.

This place a gem around the corner. If you want to experience the Greek hospitality, this is the place to be. The moment we entered the restaurant, we were greeted with a warm smile from our host, Gina. We ordered from their BBQ list and everything came out perfect. It was phenomenal!!! They even gave us free desserts. I highly recommend this place. The gem around the corner.

My family and I stopped in here to have a late lunch and we loved it!! It wasn’t very busy, I recommend going around 2pm if you want to avoid a crowded restaurant. The service was great! The food was fresh and made to order! They have the Best hummus and bread. I loved the artwork on the walls.

Incredible food and amazing service. Extremely reasonable prices for the high quality of dishes here. The grilled squid appetizer was to die for and the lamb was so tender it was falling off the bone. Highly recommended!

This restaurant is a true gem in Athens, Greece. The service was excellent and the food was delicious!! I recommend the meatballs, chicken skewer, and the wild mushroom risotto!! On vacay here I was looking for a great place to eat and looks like I found it!!! I will definitely be coming back and would highly recommend it to my friends and family!!!

Wonderful restaurant. One of best braised short rib dish that I have ever had. Appetizers were great with a twist to traditional Greek cuisine. Atmosphere was great as good as highly regarded restaurants in New York City.The chef and service were equally as great. I think the restaurant is a must visit. Look forward to visiting again when I return for a vacation next year

My favorite restaurant in Athens. From the first bite you feel the quality and respect for the product — real, authentic flavors, intense and memorable. I’ve tried many places in Athens, but this is truly one of the best. The tzatziki and eggplant dip are a must, fresh and full of flavor. Everything feels genuine, seasonal, and rooted in tradition. I also met the chef — passionate, humble, and dedicated. You can taste his love for food in every dish. A true back to the roots experience.

I've had steak tartar in New York and Paris, and this was the best out of all! The cheese dip starter, the assorted cheese and meats appetizer, the hummus, the lamb, the mushroom rissuto, the steak, the bread, the carpaccio all ten 10/10. Went here two nights in a row because it was so delicious and had to try other things on the menu. Excellent chef and staff as well. Can't wait to come back. What a treat! If it's busy and you do have a wait, it will be worth it!

Simply one of the best restaurants I've ever been to. A beautiful environment, beautiful people and service and the food is the Platonic ideal of Greek tavern food. Having found this restaurant I struggle to go anywhere else in Athens!

Best food downtown Athens, among a myriad of tourist traps. The lamb was basically melting, nice portions and good wine choices. Very good prices - period. If you compare them to the quality is crazy that you can eat so good at this price in that area. Kudos and maybe I found my new favorite place to go out for a nice dinner.

Amazing original Greek dishes,, really the chef have the know how. The place welcomes you with a variety of spreads,We try that amazing lam, beef short rib, Greek salad of course and that unbelievable sirloin steak flawless service, very nice atmosphere, the price is not high not low I think it's medium as for the cost of menu... Traditional flavors and big collection of wines... Impressive was the real flowers they have in the vaze in every table ....I truly recommend and suggest you that place... Thank you for your services hopefully next year we will come again and again...

A small restaurant located away from the busiest streets of the Plaka neighborhood. Dinner was a very pleasant experience — the staff were professional and courteous, and the food was excellent. The value for money is outstanding. Overall, it was a lovely surprise to find this place, and if I return to Athens, I would definitely come back.

What a nice ambient in this stylish café and restaurant. The service and the drinks and food were excellent. The nice waitress even helped me with charging my mobile phone. I can only recommend this place and will definitely come back again.

The food was amazing! We had the slow cooked ribs and the lamb, AMAZING! Best of all, Angela's service, she made us feel comfortable even without a reservation and was very kind in providing food suggestions.

In spite of the fact that we were pleasantly surprised by the restaurant’s atmosphere, unfortunately we didn’t leave entirely happy. The staff was very polite, but the service was incredibly slow, although it wasn’t very crowded. We understood why it took quite a while for the food to arrive, but the fact that we had to wait almost half an hour, just to get the check, was beyond our patience. The food was tasty, but the seabass risotto was a little too salty for my taste.

Undeserving of it's high average rating in my opinion. Brought bread, tatziki and olives without asking, so I thought it was on the house. Ended up having to pay for it. On the menu, the sides are listed below the grilled meats with no price, they make it look like you get to choose a side with your meat, but you end up having to pay for it. I ordered the black pig tomahawk steak with a pepper sauce - the sauce arrived 'broken' and didn't taste of pepper at all, and the pork was completely unseasoned and without flavour. It could have done with some salt and pepper at the minimum, let alone any garlic, oregano, thyme, rosemary or even sage. Service was fast to start with, then completely ignored me and couldn't get their attention to pay the bill. Only bright spot was the very good glass of Merlot which wasn't overly fruity. Overall disappointing.

Not sure what the great reviews are about. OK to start staff was inattentive. We could not get a menu and were never asked for drinks. Only two wait persons so maybe that's why. Huge wine selection all in Greek no help from the staff and do we picked a glass of red that was OK. Very limited menu i had the slowly Braised beef and it was so over salted it was hard to eat.. My wife had the grilled shrimp which she really enjoyed Did not see any of the wonderful aspects we read about in the reviews ... Sorry I had to give a bad review but it was not a place I can reccomend.

Very disappointing experience. We experienced extremely long delays, waiting over 1 hour and 30 minutes for our food. In the end, only one out of the three dishes ordered arrived at the table. The chicken with tabbouleh was tasty, but the other two guests were left with only bread and salad, as their main dishes never came. Throughout this time, we were completely neglected by the waiter, with no updates or explanation. The situation gave the strong impression of being severely understaffed, both in the kitchen and in service. Unfortunately, this resulted in a very poor overall experience I apologize for mistake of the tabbouleh / it was couscous!! All the other comments are CORRECT!!

The food was good- the first one was amazing, but the second was only fine (we order a steak)… But the service was terrible- the waiters wasn’t nice, We’ve waited for the food about half hour, And at the end, we tried to call the waiter to help us with the check- Apparently they take 2,5 eru per person! As a “tax”. And 8 eru for sparkling water… Price wasn’t justified for what we got.
