The food here is exceptional and the place is always packed but the service does not suffer from a lot of business. Rolando was our server and his service was as good as it gets. There is no downside to this place. It truly deserves all 5 stars.

Came here after my stay at the Motel 6 down the street. I'm glad I did, sure beats Denny's. The food was excellent, the waitress Bonnie was kind & personable. The whole staff were excellent. The food & coffee were excellent too. I would highly suggest this place to anyone that wants a comfortable, no frills, great food type of place to eat. I'm showing a pic of the cross street, so people can hopefully find it easier. Namaste 🤗

The honest opinion Alternative

Stopped here while traveling based on the excellent reviews. They were RIGHT! I had the most delicious hash browns I have ever had. YUMMY. Great plate size pancakes that were so delicious. I only gave a 4 star because the eggs were bland and tasteless most likely poured out of a carton of "scrambled eggs". Next time we are in the area, I will get fried. Hubby got the same but, had bacon-which he said was delicious. Coffee was good and service with a smile. Coffee kept on coming. The atmosphere was older country sheek. Lots of family pictures, cute signs, and a wall of Coffee cups with all different wording. Very homey. Bathroom was clean and included an Avon catalog and vintage vanity. Cute, cute, cute. Thank you for the hospitality. OH! I almost forgot- I walked pass a couple that got the fruit as a side- WOW! Beautiful combo of melon, orange, banana and strawberries - big portion!

Classic old-school diner with small-town charm. The menu sticks to the basics—sandwiches, omelettes, and other diner staples—and everything was fresh and well-prepared. Clean space, relaxed vibe, mostly an older crowd. Our server Justin was fantastic: super attentive, quick with the check, and made sure we had everything we needed without hovering. Great service all around. Would love to see bagels and lox added to the menu—feels like it would fit right in!

Funsized Traveler

Everyone said we needed to try Sweetpeas, and we are glad we did! I had biscuits and gravy, scrambled eggs, and lots of fruit. The biscuits were soft, with no hard edges, and the gravy was delicious. My husband had chicken fried steak but didn't like the gravy. The hash browns were phenomenal, soft in the center & crunchy on the outside. They kept our drinks coming so they were never empty. The servers were fast & friendly. Very down to earth place. We will be back.

Fast pace, very comfortable and cozy restaurant. Staff is always on the move. Loves the service. The restaurant was nice and clean. There is no food on the floor and fingerprints on the windows. It was an absolute pleasure for a date lunch. It was like walking into an episode of cheers. Your local regulars were at home. And they made you feel as if you had been coming for years. The hamburgers are🍔 ♥️ fantastic. The menu was amazing. There was a lot to choose from. For my 1st time, I say it was well worth heading to Auburn.

My family always stops by when we we're coming home from Reno. You have to try the sourdough bread that they sell at the counter, t's delicious. The food is good and the service is always excellent. The restaurant has a small town feel to it. We'll be back.

They were a bit disorganized this morning. For some reason they weren't using a seating list today. People would ask how many and then disappear for 5 minutes and come back and ask again. It only took our party of two about 15 minutes to be seated though. Coffee was on the table right away and stayed full the entire time. At one point there were three different people walking around with coffee pots. The staff was friendly. The kitchen was pretty slow today because it took forty minutes for the food to hit why of the tables that sat around the same time as I did. I ordered the chicken fried steak and my wife got the cinnamon roll french toast. The French toast tasted great, and the chicken fried steak was above average but pretty small for the price. The potatoes were flavored nicely. A solid 4 ⭐ meal today. I'll try again and see if they improve.

Nice breakfast/lunch place just off of I-80 in Auburn CA. Extensive breakfast menu. The interior is classic country diner. The food is above average in taste and portion. I enjoyed a hamburger patty and eggs with country potatoes. The wife had a cinnamon roll combo which came with bacon, fruit tone egg. Everything was good. Service was good. I have always looked for and patronized family owned restaurants. Sweetpeas is just what the doctor ordered.

Decent food and service the only concern we had was the black doll above the cash register. Looks like the old times when black face and racism were prevalent. We're not liberals but my husband and I are an interracial couple and not happy seeing this. Thank you for considering this matter and hopefully taking it down.

We tried to go to Awful Annie's in mid-July on a Wednesday in the noon hour. It was packed and no parking at all in the parking lot. We decided to look elsewhere. I saw Sweetpeas across the freeway and we decided to try that. It was slow there, about 22 tables, and 6 or 7 tables being used. I was surprised at how little traffic (customers) was/were there. We ate lunch, it was ok, not bad, not great. It met our needs for lunch. It felt like the older crowd likes to hang out there. The atmosphere felt a bit older and well-used. It seemed to take longer to get our food than it should have, based on the amount of customers there. The waitress did apologize and say the cook seemed to be in slow-mode today. The place was nice enough to go there again, but it wouldn't be our first choice. We are having to make 2 more 6-hour round-trip drives to Auburn, and did another trip yesterday. We went back to Awful's, even though the parking was tough again, we found a spot and the wait to be seated was only 10 minutes. To be honest, we got the same food we got the first time we went there last month, and it wasn't as good this time. We may try a new restaurant on our next trip. Or, we may head back over and try Sweetpeas again.
