Opinions de Take Maru Sushi Auburn
Have to agree with the previous poster/customer. Very comparable to excellent sushi I've had on the coast. And very reasonably priced as well! The staff I've encountered are polite and professional. Highly recommended!
This is our favorite sushi place. We get takeout at least once a month. The rolls are amazing, and the chicken teriyaki is divine! Worth every penny!
Best sushi! Food is always consistent, the rolls are delicate and delicious. And you're always greated with a smile.
They are only doing take-out as of 7-14-22 UPDATE 11/9/24: They have recently started in house dining. Sushi was awesome! So happy they have dine in!
This place is amazing best sushi place in Auburn!! The service is amazing! The employees are amazing and so kind😆 My Mom and dad are friends with the chef and his wife they are amazing! Definitely 10000000% recommend it!
Slightly long wait but very worth it! The fish they put on their rolls were so delicate and just fresh tasting. Both rolls I got were 10/10.(Rainbow roll and Spicy roll)
Love love love this place.... the staff are very attentive, the sushi is outstanding in every science of the word! My husband and I go to a lot of sushi restraunts, and this one in particular, out shines them all. Keep up the good work. Michelle ❤️
Best sushi place, large variety, good pricing. Lunch options are amazing, always take out right now but worth it.
We have been going here ever since they opened after they bought the Chinese restaurant. We thought we would miss the chinese restaurant when it closed, but we went and tried the Sushi restaurant and we loved it instantly! Great restaurant, excellent friendly service! You guys are always awesome!
We get take out regularly and love it. First dine in experience since they reopened seating. Best sushi in Auburn.
Extremely flavorful, generous portions of sushi along with extremely reasonable prices. I would call Take Maru one of, if not, the best Sushi house in Auburn
We love sushi, so we frequent Take Maru's. They have really good sushi, dinners and lunch specials. Prices are good for what you get. Family run, so the only bad part is when they go on vacation, I can't wait until they get back. Everything is clean. Service I will admit can be prompt but sometimes only with a grumpy face. Depends on the server. Love watching the baby growing up. Beautiful child. Try it, I think you will like it.
Food was excellent, some of the best I have ever had, while still being quite affordable. The restaurant was quiet and comfortable, and the service was pretty good. Highly recommend the nigiri, the quality of the fish was very, very high and the Chef's rolls were very good as well. The Okinawa and Monster roll special were interesting and a very nice accompaniment to the more traditional rolls.
I have been enjoying sushi for 40 years. This restaurant ranks in my top 3. I love the rainbow hand rolls. The fish is super fresh and the service is superb. It's definitely worth taking the time to drive there as ther location is a bit out of the way.
The food was really good. And the price was extremely reasonable. And the service was excellent. Would definitely recommend giving it a try if you are in the area.
New to us. Always looking for good sushi place. Prices are very reasonable. We ordered spicy edemami as a starter. Very good. Tea is Jasmine. Other beverages available. The 3 sushi plates we ordered were all different and fresh. I like the sesame seeds in the rice covering the fish rolls. Good service. Time was taken to explain the dishes. Other Japanese food available.
We almost always go to sushi when we get restaurant food. This place is my favorite! The lobster king is the best roll I think I've ever eaten. The doobeedoo is super good too. We have only eaten here twice so far and have loved it both times!
The lunch special is an incredible value, and has good choices for both the bento boxes, and sushi roll combos. Highly recommend!!
This place is soooo good!! My husband flys to Japan often and even he loves this sushi. Best we’ve found in the area so far :)
Wanted to try a new sushi place in Auburn and found this place on google with good reviews. We were there at 2:30pm so place wasn’t packed. Greeted and seated quickly. Quick turnaround on ordering and getting our food. Was shocked at how big their sushi rolls were and thank goodness we only ordered the one. The lunch meal deal came with plenty of food to fill ya too. Food was yummy for our tummy, found a new favorite spot.
Had carryout a few times, never disappointed. First time dining in absolute joy. Service prompt and with a smile. Food came out at a nice pace. Spicy Scallop Handroll was everything I wanted it to be. Easy to eat, packed with flavor, filling didn't fall out. Highly recommend. Hokkaido roll. An absolute banger. My new favorite roll of all time. Loaded with flavor, heat heightens the senses without overwhelming the palatte. Will order every time. Check this place out.
I came again and was not disappointed. The food was just as delicious. I highly recommend it.
Hidden gem in a kinda dumpy strip center. Excellent quality fish & veggies, creative rolls and very generous portions.
This has become my favorite sushi source. Why? Because they put a lot of filling in their sushi (see photo), i.e., more filling and less rice, instead of more rice than filling from other sushi places in the district; and because their prices aren't jacked up. I travel 19 miles one-way for this sushi, or whenever I'm in Auburn.
My parents bought some Maru Sushi the other day and it was my first time having it. I was really impressed by how good it all tasted from the Salmon, to the sushi rolls, and Gyoza). They have a special lunch box value at $8.50. i always go with the Salmon Teriyaki. I will be coming by to this place whenever I feel like getting something Japanese cuisine. Definitely recommend visiting and eating
My wife and I went on our first date in a long while (2 young children). I had a dragon roll and the A J roll and, as we always have been here, I was impressed once again with the flavor and quality.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Fresh, delicious, and worth every bite! I had the Take Maru Sushi Roll and it was amazing! So fresh, full of flavor, and beautifully prepared. You can really taste the quality in every bite. 🍣✨ Customer service was also top-notch—friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience even better. If you're in Auburn and craving sushi, Take Maru Sushi is a must-visit. I’ll definitely be back!
By far the best sushi in Northern California. I don’t even like sushi, or at least I didn’t think I did. 😂
Not only is the food great but the staff is friendly and halpful. Get the Take Maru roll, it is amazing.
Please update the online lunch special time to 3:30pm, since the online order page says 4pm is the cutoff for the lunch special, but I was literally unable to place my order at 3:31pm as a result of "Lunch menu is no longer available". I understand it takes roughly 30 minutes to pick the order up, but I couldn't find clarification on the website that states orders need to be placed before 3:30pm to accommodate that. When the online lunch order timeframe states it goes until 4pm, I expect to be able to place an order until 4pm. Update! 😄 Thank you very much for responding and providing more context! I understand now, and hope your site administrator can assist. I'll make sure to get my orders in by 3:30pm! Thanks again!
Insane value for the chicken teriyaki lunch box. $10 for chicken teriyaki, california roll, rice, salad, potstickers, and a miso soup. Food tasted pretty good as well.
I cannot get enough of this place! I wish I knew about it a long time ago, but it’s hidden in a weird parking lot off Grass Valley hwy. The woman here is super nice. The food has yet to disappoint. Their Miso soup portions are pretty large, and all the rolls I’ve tried so far are phenomenal. Definitely a place I’d want to give everything on the menu a try.
This is such a hidden gem! Everything we had was so beautiful made and plated. I highly recommend the spicy octopus salad, the melting albacore was perfect, and the nigiri was some of the best I've ever tried. You can tell them at the hef has great attention to detail and cares about what he puts out.
Very nice folks! Take Maru has been open for 13 years and we have frequented their restaurant every year they have been serving. Family owned and operated. They have survived the lean years and they serve visually enticing and a wide variety of flavors in their dishes.

Really enjoyed the sushi here and the atmosphere. Not the best place I have been but the quality was pretty good and the prices were decent. The place and bathrooms were clean. The sushi was relatively simple but good.
Good appetizer options. One of the few Japanese places that list vegetarian options. Vegetarian ramen was pretty darned good. A tad understaffed at peak Saturday dinner hour, but considerate and helpful staff. Also, try the tempura vegetables! They were light and not oily or chewy. We enjoyed them! Table by the door was chilly. Owners seem to take time off in late January through February, so double check that it's open if you're planning to try the place around that time.
This was our first time eating here. The food was great. All our sushi and appetizers tasted really good. The service could use a little improvement. I feel bad for the staff because there was only one person working the front, and one chef making everything. They were obviously spread very thin, hopefully next time we go they will have some help to make things run a little more smoothly. They did prepare quite a few to go orders, so that might be the way to go. Be aware, there is a kids “play” area but it’s located in the main dining area near the tables. So if loud kids playing in a restaurant aren’t your jam, just know it’s a possibility.
Food is priced about a $1 less than typical sushi restaurants in the Bay Area. We got the Salmon Bento and the Salmon was overcooked and a little hard to eat (rubbery with too many grill marks). The nigiri was good, the fish was a thinner cut, but pretty good. Their rice itself was good as well. Servers were very good, constantly checked up and made sure it was all going good. The fried rolls were good, but got tiring after about half due to the type of breading. Overall 4/5, I'd go again, it's good for Auburn. I didn't expect Auburn to have good 🍣.

Delicious vegan options! Only looked like two employees were running the whole show, so our service wasn't the most attentive. The layout of the restaurant was a little odd, definitely a casual space. Took about an hour to get our food, but once again, it was obvious they were running a tight ship, so we didn't mind. Maybe don't come here if you're in a hurry.

Spacious lay out and nice tall chairs give you a sense of privacy. It's a quiet place where you don't need to yell to have a conversation which is nice. The sushi is good and friendly staff. With so many options for sushi around I'd say this is place is 4th on my list. Worth going to if you are near by.
We drove all the way down from grass valley to get some sushi from a previously loved sushi place. The front door was covered in Saran Wrap and they were only open for take out. We love their sushi, but it was really disappointing that their listing says open for indoor dining to be open for take out only. Commenting to have them update their listing.
I went here with my sister, I've tried quite a few sushi resturaunts in Auburn, this one is the best one in Auburn. Not bad, but not great. I did enjoy their salmon nigri, but we mostly stuck with the rolls.
They were super nice here and accommodated my order so nicely. But my stomach has been upset since. A few of the things I ordered were great but a few were fishy and not fresh. I wanted to like it all so much, because it's a great location and they are super sweet.

The radish isn't cut traditionally, the seaweed is dry in the miso soup, the soup has a strange flavor, the rice isn't hot enough, and the display of the sushi could be better, the sushi could also be cut smaller. The waitor never really checked on me either. It was all done very lazy and I didn't feel welcomed. In terms of pros: I'd say the sushi was pretty good...but like I said before:too big of a cut, the prices were also great.
I live near this place and was a great go to whenever we got the crave. Post pandemic now is only pick up and we’ve been twice. The food has been horrible. Small stale fish that was crusty around the edges. Salad is a handful of old iceberg thown in a styrophone container with no care. No veggies in the salad. Really bad seaweed salad was tasteless and had a texture I was afraid of. It is one of my favorite dishes but I could not choke this down. Bottom line is I spent $70 to have a nice sushi dinner and ended up tossing it. I can’t stress how bad this was. Too bad because being only pick up you get the food home and it’s too late and the evening is ruined. Never again. I would be embarrassed to serve such poor quality.
I just spent $75 here for dinner and I’ I’m VERY disappointed. Although the portions were decent sized, the quality was awful. Our rolls were soggy, the fish wasn’t fresh and i won’t be eating there again.
This is take out only, but they have not updated their website, it says it is open for dine-in and take-out, so a wasted trip for us. It’s close to our home and when we could eat in, the food was always good, but when we tried the take-out, it seemed like our rolls were made earlier in the day and not free. So disappointed, I hope they open for dine-in again. We won’t go back for take out.
Went here the 2nd time. Sushi was ok. Bento were not good. Salmon is overcooked, teriyaki beef very chewy and I can’t eat it. Server is not friendly, not approachable it’s like she doesn’t like her job. Never coming back again.(In addition to my review, server didn’t apologize and since the owner responded to my review I swear that the beef terriyaki was really chewy and rubbery ur saying that it met the standard? Thats ur standard? they never said sorry to that, and u can’t accept the rating? U don’t even know how to apologize? Lol) I don’t recommend this restaurant. Awful
