We always enjoy going to El Agave, but have you tried their catering?! It was absolutely fantastic! 3 meat deluxe taco bar totally killed it at our birthday bash. Absolutely delicious! With so many options in the buffet all our guests, including those with food restrictions, enjoyed the authentic flavors El Agave brings. Plus the staff was incredibly friendly and easy to work with. 10/10 recommend!

You could immediately tell it was the real deal—rich, creamy, and perfectly spiced with cinnamon. None of that generic powder mix nonsense here! It was a refreshing and traditional drink that paired beautifully with the meal. 🫓 The Chips and Guacamole Next, the tortilla chips were warm, crispy, and seasoned to perfection. Pair them with their guacamole, and you’ve got a match made in heaven. The guacamole was smooth, fresh, and loaded with lime and cilantro flavors. It was one of the best I’ve ever had—simple yet absolutely delicious. 🔥 The RIBEYE Steak & Prawn Fajitas 🥩🦐 Now let’s talk about the star of the show—the RIBEYE Steak and Prawn Fajitas. This isn’t just any steak. They use local, high-quality ribeye, and you can taste the difference! The steak was tender, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. It MELTED in my mouth—literally one of the best steaks I’ve ever had at any restaurant, Mexican or otherwise. 🥩✨ The quality was so high, it felt like it came straight out of a top-tier steakhouse, but with a bold Mexican twist that made it unforgettable. The prawns? Plump, juicy, and buttery. 🦐 They were cooked just right, bursting with fresh flavor. Combined with the sizzling bed of sautéed onions, bell peppers, and mouthwatering spices, this dish was nothing short of magical. Whether you’re a tequila enthusiast or just want to try something special, this bar has you covered! 💁‍♂️ The Service The service was nothing short of amazing. Our server was attentive, accommodating, and made sure every detail of our meal was perfect. It’s rare to find this level of care, and it made the experience that much more enjoyable. 🌮 Final Thoughts If you’re looking for the best authentic Mexican food in Northern California, look no further than El Agave. We got catering here for my baby shower and it was a huge hit! Everyone kept raving about how good the food was and asking where we got it from. The proportions were perfect and they gave us everything we needed for my guests to make their own tacos. The communication was great as well highly recommend if you need catering!

Yummy food! They have BOMB Taco salads! I love the Al Pastor. The service is swift and friendly. The restaurant is clean, including the restrooms. There's also a full bar to order from or even hang out at. Editor's note: I went back yesterday, over a year after my first visit, and the food was disappointing. This time, I ordered a combo plate with a chili relleno and two flautas. The flautas were good, but that's it. It's pretty hard to screw those up. The rice tasted like dirt. So did the beans. I don't think they were made the traditional way, with lard, otherwise they would have been flavorful. Both the rice and beans severely lacked seasonings. I wasn't impressed with the relleno either. I barely touched it. Also, the tortilla chips are different. They must have come from a bag. They weren't at all like the usual restaurant style chips that are light, warm and crispy. These chips with thick, hard and room temperature.

Great spot to eat in auburn. Service is top notch and food is always good. Been her a number of times and tried many different things and haven't found anything that wasn't super tasty. This is the Guadalajara Burrito.

Went to El Agave for the first time and took two of my friends out for an early dinner. The food was excellent, service was good, but it turned out the drinks cost more than the entire meal. The price of the drinks is not listed on the menu. Turns out a standard Margarita cost $17.95! Beer around the same. Highly recommend for the food, but unless you're willing to pay twice as much for a drink at this restaurant, don't go there.

Either you're going to love this place or it's a once and done. Everything tastes fresh and is made to order. You won't find a pool of grease on your plate, just fresh ingredients. There was a lack of flavor in everything we ate. Even the salsa was bland. The chili verde lunch special was recommended by my waiter, but he didn't tell me it included a drink. If I would have known this, I would have had something besides water. The lunch special was $12 for the speciality plate. It's just enough food and you won't be taking home any leftovers. If you prefer your food on the bland side, this is your type of Mexican restaurant.

Well we ordered the Sampler Platter 🙂 which was pretty good. The quesadillas & the taquitos well very good. The Queso Dip 😐 reminded me of nacho cheese from a jar. The Stuffed Avocados ☹️☹️which were just horrible. Don’t waste your money on me “ Stuffed Avocados”. The chips & Salsa was excellent. The bathrooms were clean.
