EMILYYY! Is the best barista ever! She’s so attentive and creative it makes my Day! Aside of the lovely customer service I absolutely love their breakfast tacos and rose lattes. This place is a go-to for me. Always! The Betty drawing is precious ❤️❤️
food was amazing and came out super fast. great portions and service was amazing! not from austin but def would come back on our next visit!
Love the pb&j omlette. Who would think of pulled pork in an omlette? This pulled pork is very high quality.. all meat, not fatty. Love this place.
First time coming here and the food was pretty good. The ambiance and vibes were also good. I'll update this if I go back and something changes.
Best place to have a really great traditional nothing-fancy breakfast in Austin (something surprisingly hard to find). Pancakes, bacon and eggs are consistently amazing everytime.
Every time I go, I have a great experience here. Just this week I took my family from out of town for breakfast, and Martin was so welcoming and attentive. My family enjoyed the food and the service. Every server we get is super nice and genuine, it really does remind me of old Austin. Prices are not outrageously expensive, and the food is satisfying. I usually get the breakfast sandwich or the Benedict. They have light, dark, or pecan roast drip coffees that are all tasty. The only downside for me is that I love a good iced latte, and I’m not a big fan of theirs. But I like the regular hot latte! It’s also a great family-friendly restaurant. My loud, happy baby loves eating the black beans with eggs in her high chair. We always have a fun time there!
Staff is always courteous. Their food is fresh , great coffee choices, love their potato’s! Austin a long term resident of Austin, I feel this is a great taste of what local Austin food is about!
Chose our last ATX meal, before heading back to Houston, to be at Austin Java. My guy got the Chicken and Waffles, and I got the Avocado Toast. Thinking about how big an Avocado Toast tends to be, I threw on a breakfast biscuit Sammy. OK, they just shamed First Watch, and La La Land with their Avocado Toast. The portion was huge! The ciabatta was beautifully made. This had pesto, and a subtly sweet tomato jam on it. It is then topped with queso fresco, bacon, and blistered cherry tomatoes. About that bacon: every bit was crunchy. The small detail of chopping the bacon prior to cooking ensured that every piece is crispy, much like the highly sought after corner piece of brownie. I added a side of Hollandaise for the poached egg. I had already promised my guy one of the four pieces. A decision I reluctantly followed through with. Five of of five stars, would demolish again. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Overall, it was a great experience! Visited Austin Java at about 730 on a Monday morning. Was not crowded at all. Ordered a coffee and decided to order breakfast with my partner. The food was hot and fresh! Everything had great flavor! Service was friendly and attentive! I think this will become a go-to breakfast spot for us!
This place is perfect for breakfast or brunch. I had a super fresh and tasty omelet, and the portions were really generous. The staff was polite and helpful, explained everything on the menu. You can tell it’s a popular spot, we got there around 10 a.m., and it was almost full, but we still found a table. The coffee was great too, smooth taste, not too much milk, just how I like it in the morning. We had such a good time. I think this might become our go-to breakfast place. Prices are fair, most breakfast dishes start around $12–13, and it’s totally worth it. Big thanks to the kitchen: my omelet was honestly perfect. The space is bright and open, with plenty of seating inside and outside
The atmosphere is just as vibrant as the colors; regulars buzzing in conversations, business meetings, along with the staple work from home laptops all over. I’ve had a couple of dishes here and they’ve generally been really tasty. The new huevos rancheros have excellent flavor, (I could use more spice, but I live in ATX and understand that only happens at home) the beans were perfectly seasoned and the Mexican crema garnish was what tied the dish together. I’ve ordered the vegetarian sandwich and added bacon, (I like veggies, and meats) and to my surprise was really good. The veggies perfectly sautéd, with crispy bacon in every bite. The sandwich went perfectly with the chips. They’ve now added new mix drinks to their menu which are a must try if you dig a cute buzz with your coffee. I can’t remember what the coffee old fashioned was called but wow was it impressive!! They also have a good espresso martini that’s a perfect balance of sweet and bold! They have a variety of cold brews and extensive coffee menu. I was lucky to catch them roasting coffee outside once!! Super cool place if you’re looking for good background music, food, and vibes.
Went there this morning and was quite pleased! I have been craving some pancakes and these did not disappoint. The butter they put on there has cinnamon and even though I had plain pancakes it was delicious. I love that little crust on a pancake and these were perfect. They also weren't overly sweet, which is always great! My kiddo got the chicken and waffles. It was a giant portion of a meal and he was really pleased with it. I tried the chicken to see if it was well seasoned and it was, which is awesome because sometimes they are not. Absolutely no complaints there. The service was super fast and friendly! We got there and immediately got seated, probably because it was just the two of us, but no complaints. The place was really clean and the ambiance was nice. We will for sure come back for another brunch date.
I don’t ever write reviews but truly the worst cappuccino or latte I’ve ever had. Food was good, black coffee is fine. If you ask them to make a milk coffee drink they will boil the milk until it’s completely undrinkable. After going through the drive through I had to run inside to get some cold milk to cool off my million degree “cappuccino” and I could hear the girl stick the milk container in the foamer and just leave it there for like 3 minutes straight while she attended to other business. I guess that’s what she did to my drink because even after it cooled off the milk tasted so burnt and nasty I had to dump it out and go buy coffee next door. Please train your cashiers.
Got fat shamed by the waitress for ordering a breakfast quesadilla for myself. Me and my boyfriend went and each got a breakfast quesadilla. I love the breakfast quesadilla from here! However when we ordered the waitress asked if I was sure I wanted one for myself cus “most people” share it and get so full. She said she was just trying to save us money so I chalked it up to that. But then when she picked up our plates after we finished she kept going on about how she was so surprised we finished it. She even said “as a big back I can’t even finish it I’m surprised yall did” I have never felt so shamed about what I ate. A waiter should never comment on a customers food and eating. I wanted to tell the manager myself of our experience but I was too hurt so My boyfriend told the manager and she was very understanding. Y’all should rename it to the big back breakfast quesadilla now because I guess only big backs finish it. Never going back ! No longer my favorite breakfast spot , what a shame.
In my 23 years of living, I have NEVER seen a waitress or waiter comment on the portion someone is going to eat. My girlfriend loves this place and we make the effort to come once a month, but this experience was by far the WORST I have ever had in dining. We ordered 2 breakfast quesadillas and the waitress quite literally said “Are you sure you guys want to eat all that?” And played it off it was her trying to save us money, and we should split it. I brushed it off and believed it was the case. I ordered a matcha and it wasn’t very good, so I just ordered a new drink. I didn’t make a fuss and I didn’t expect it to be taken off the tab, which i did appreciate it. I ordered the matcha and i just didn’t like it, and I believe it’s my fault if I get a drink I don’t like, not the establishment’s. So I wasn’t mad about it, and didn’t want to cause as scene about it and be all “Karen”, however the waitress seemed to be ticked off about this. Afterwards she clearly ignored our table, she went to the two tables next to us TWICE and tended others, before she got to us. The only reason she came to us is because my girlfriend called her, so we can get more napkins. When it was time to pay she made some of the most DISGUSTING comments I’ve seen from a food service member. She stated , “Oh at first I thought you were over reacting about your matcha , but i tasted it and it was actually so bad.” PAUSE. What? You drank out of my drink after I took it back and then told me to my face you judged me for not liking it? I literally did not know how to react and that made me so uncomfortable. Next she commented about the food and said , “Oh wow I can’t believe you guys finished it, as a big back I COULD NEVER .” and just kept egging on about how much we ate. At first I was like damn? I’m not even that fat, why is she making these comments then I thought EVEN IF I WAS FAT , it is highly inappropriate to say that. She was just pretending to be so surprised at the fact we finished it. Trust me I’ve had waiters make mistake, one time at Austin Java we asked for napkins and the waiter brought it to the wrong table. This is fine, this is a mistake. Forgetting the table for napkins is a simple slip up. However , the actions taken by the waitress today is not a mistake. It was blatantly rude and horrible service. I am not one to write reviews, but it was genuinely so bad i had to share my experience. My biggest regret is not getting the name of the waitress . She is the lady with light brown hair, a pentagram star tattoo thing on her left forearm. I have never had to talk to a manager about my service , but when i saw how that waitresses comments made my partner tear up and almost cry, I think that is where such actions are necessary. The manager, Jennifer, was super understanding and nice. What surprised me was how the barista there said she’s made similar comments to her and the manager says she makes comments like that a lot. Ha ha… WHAT? So you guys know of this behavior, EVEN TO STAFF and just “will address it.” The manager and worker there did make me feel really heard for sharing my complaints and I appreciate that. It just seems so wrong to make these comments. I am unsure if i will ever return, which makes me sad as this was my girlfriend’s FAVORITE breakfast spot in all of Austin. I’d give it a one star review, but the food is actually really good so it gets 2 stars from me. I have attached a picture of the “big back breakfast quesadillas “ that we finished. The audience can decide if it’s so blasphemous to have each finished one.
The eggs were so-so. Didn't have any seasoning whatsoever. Nothing. They forgot to bring my side of potatos and when they did, the potatos were awful: dry, hard, old, and flavorless. It was like eating rubbery leather. They felt like they'd been sitting in the back under a heat lamp since the night before. Honestly, the worst potatoes I've ever had at a restaurant. The chai latte at least was delicious, and the waitress was nice. Still those flavorless eggs and dead potatoes will make sure I never return.
Stopped by before my drive back to DFW. Cool decor and the merch was dope. Poor service to start. I placed a pickup order on Doordash. Stood at the pick up location at the bar for at least 5 minutes before anyone addressed me. They weren't super busy. Didn't get a hello/how are you doing, just "have you been helped yet?". After I told them I was waiting for a to go order, another customer came up and was pleasantly greeted right away. Very weird. Breakfast quesadilla looked promising but didn't pan out. A hefty serving, all of it super bland. The salsa was good, but besides that everything was flavorless. Some salt and pepper would've went a long way. Potatoes were cut way too big. Some of them were on the undercooked side because of this. Got an iced Carmel latte. Nothing to ride home about. Tasted weak. Wouldn't come here again.
