I'd say 9 times out of 10 this place knocks it out the park. Chicken is hot and juicy and the breading is some of my favorite from a fried chicken place. Fast service. Once in awhile you'll get older chicken that's dry. But it's rare!

Food is always great and fresh... bla bla bla... That's not the reason for my review... A manager by the name of Dave, made our dine-in experience Amazing! I asked if there was anything I should try on the menu that was great... He suggested a special combination of perfection called "The Sink." This is hands down the best thing I've eaten in awhile. Dave improved my life.

Always a great experience. Friendly staff and they have the best sweet tea. Awesome deals and every time the food is hot and fresh. Definitely would recommend for lunch or dinner.

Tried this place for the first time a while back because the ticket stubs from my son's football game has a coupon for Bush's Chicken. Figuring that I should support a business that supports Austin area student athletics, I came in and gave it a try. No gimmicks here, just good food. Portions are reasonably sized, chicken fingers are fantastic, coleslaw is very good (not tasteless like a lot of places.) Store is clean, staff are efficient and attentive. I can't believe I've been driving by this place for the past 15 years and have just now tried it. One of my new favorite stops for chicken. Keep up the good work!

The chicken is always great here, they clearly use a different method than other chicken joints and it's less greasy and full of flavor! However, I enjoy their gizzards, I love those things, they don't overcook them, they are tender every time and there is never enough gravy!! The staff is always friendly, they have a smile and thank you ever time! Customer service is always a great there!

Been coming here since it was previously Jack in the Box. Delicious gizzards and reliable tender sandwiches. The real reason I’m writing the review is the manager at the front is amazing. He’s helped us for the passed few months and has a great, respectful attitude. He even occasionally will see if the kiddos want ice cream. Customer service goes a long way. You should be proud to have him on your team.

Some of the best chicken I have enjoyed around here. I am also very fond of their sweet tea and unsweet tea. Edit: recently revisited in 2025 and its just as good and nostalgic as I remember it. The Gizzards were to die for and I'm so happy to have come back.

Always a quick and delightful experience. The gravy containers are a little small, but the food is so delicious you can't help but return time and time again. For me, the gizzards combo is always the best thing to get. They have so many great seasonings and dipping options. Their okra and corn nuggets are absolutely wonderful. The only issue is it always leaves me wanting more.

Bush's has very awesome chicken strips and a very freshly made roll that they serve them on with cream gravy for dipping. Totally amazing! Kids all love it and so do Mom and Dad! Excellent fried okra and other sides too. Always great service to boot.

Went on a busy day but still managed to get my food in a jiffy with the chicken being juicy and crunchy, but not dry. Along with getting the fries golden and well seasoned, usually my top spot to eat at when at the Brodie

I used the drive-thru for my order. They have multiple lanes for the drive-thru. They come out to your vehicle and take your order. Very professional staff. Very good experience ordering. The food was good and hot(and crispy!) and was out to us fairly soon after we ordered it. I will go here again(and again!).

This is probably my favorite chicken fast food place in Austin. Everything I've had here is super good. The service is pretty quick unless you come during the lunch rush. I wish they would take everyone's payments before leaving to grab the food but that's a tiny thing to complain about. The prices are super fair and you get a lot for what you pay for. I waited way too long to try the corn fritters and they are now my favorite thing on the menu. Do yourself a favor and try them! The place is clean and the service is good inside as well. I'll keep coming back here for a long time.

I've enjoyed Bush's Chicken for several years now. The rolls are always warm and soft. The fries are perfect. The chicken strips are crisp and crunchy to eat. It's one of my favorite places to pick up a food order. The kids love it. I get no complaints when it's on the menu.

We ABSOLUTELY LOVE the Brodie Lane location. Their manager Lupe does a SUPERB job of always making sure the food is fresh & hot! She makes sure the restaurant is kept clean. We are definitely happy customers! Thank you Lupe and staff! Highly recommended 👌👍

This chicken will make you wanna slap your mama. Soooo good I recommend you put honey and hot sauce all over your chicken trust me, the jalapeño poppers were so delicious and something about their soda just taste so good I don’t know what it was.

Always enjoy eating here. The staff are really friendly and they love saying hi to our puppy when we bring her in our car in the drive thru. They always make sure you are quickly taken care of and have everything you ordered and need. I can’t wait to return!

Best chicken in Austin! Their car hops are the nicest wait staff I've ever met. A manager named David helped me and he was super sweet & I saw how nice he was to his employees.

Good food and friendly place! I had the new BBQ and some mashup of fried chicken and frenchfries. Turned out to be tasty and neither the fries or the chicken drowned out the taste of the other. Very young staff that was friendly and seemed to be working hard. Only slight drawback was the cashier's were slow to address new customers. I will return to try another dish.

Love the tenders rolls. I try to pass by when there's no line at the drive-thru if I'm going to hurry. Drive-thru attendees are always friendly. Great sweet tea.

I stop by Bush's every other week or so for my chicken liver and gizzards and they always are on point with the fast service and friendly atmosphere with great prices.

I had an amazing and wonderful first experience! The food was amazing, and came out SO quick, and literally every working had a great attitude! The manager was even working the floor and I don’t see that often, so that was really nice! You can tell everyone really cares about the customers! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

We love Bushes - they are fast and consistent. Dine in is always friendly and quick service. We've had issues in the past with missing items when going through the drive-thru, but recently they have been great with accuracy.

We went through the drive thru. A nice lady took our order and even suggested better deal options! It was quite busy but service was fast and efficient. My husband loved gizzards/livers and I enjoyed the chicken tenders. Cole slaw is tasty. So yes, best fried chicken since moving to this area 3 years ago. Maybe the other chicken restaurants should get training here (especially on taste, friendliness & service!)

First time eating here. Had the 3 piece mix chicken w/ green beans and a large sweet tea. Also came with a yeast roll. Then got single order of mashed potatoes and fried okra. Best chicken and sides I've had!! Came out hot too! They also have personal service where someone comes to your car and you order, pay and receive food from them. Only negative comment is the chicken is kinda greasy but it is so tender and comes right off the bone so it is worth it!

On 9/27 I ordered a 6 piece tender combo via drive-thru. When arriving home, I found the box had 4 tenders. Calling back to speak with a manager, they offered a replacement 6-piece on my next visit. Today they honored the replacement, for which I'm grateful. I look forward to future visits to Bush's! Great food and honorable business practices earns a customer for life.

You can see why some businesses are succeeding to thrive during this time. Though there is no dine in, they have set up 3 lanes for drive thru which is convenient. They have employees come right up to your vehicle to take your order. I love chicken livers, so I ordered their meal and the meal was right on point. They were fresh along with the okra, so fresh that I could not eat them right away cause it was still steaming hot. My coworker ordered the chicken tender meal and it was the same way... We were not disappointed in the least bit. We got to park in the parking lot and enjoyed our meals right in our work truck. We did have to wait less than 10 minutes but hey, the wait is worth it when you can munch on something that's fresh, hot and delicious. I ain't complaining one bit.

I like to go here for the gizzards, nice and tasty, with the gravy its better. The livers are good too but personally i dont eat to many of them. The chicken is moist with a crunchy skin but sometimes it taste a little salty. Not a big fan of the fries because they are soft and mushy.

The rolls are great, got tenders they didn't have any flavor. The peach tea was weak, they need to add more mix. I won't order it again.

Always good eating with Bush's chicken. Make sure to get some of their delicious tea, which comes in regular, sweet and half regular and half sweet. The only complaint is that I have several times to join the car club with non of the employees knowing how to do it. They just jeep telling me to email, which I do. I have never gotten a response. Not even sure if it's a thing anymore with them, but they have a banner advertising it and it's benefits that come along with it. Maybe one day. Tuesdays are their specials day so make sure they and swing by if possible just bring some patience as the line will be crazy long but the staff is jumping and moves the line as fast as they can. Enjoy!

The food is tasty as always nothing to really write home about just some tasty crispy fried chicken and I always enjoy the roles that I get and I did try a sip of my friends peach tea and I have to be honest it is liquid peach rings pretty much not my thing but to each their own

Drive through chicken place with fast serviceand tasty food. Only thing is one worker can be quite off putting who works at this location. She got our order wrong and changed our drinks without telling us. When we asked about the drinks she stated she just gave us a coke, without asking us and then walked off. Not hospitable.

The chicken is wonderful. Crispy but juicy and flavorful. The staff that come to your car are always friendly and pleasant from start to finish. We go there and get just the chicken and rolls. I am sorry to say but the veggies and sides are disappointing and dismal. The Mashed potatoes taste like instant and have the same mouth feel as instant. Gravy too. Packaged mix? Green beans over cooked and salads soggy as fried okra is too...😔 I HATE being a complainer especially with there chicken being TOP Notch!!! It is the ONLY place we get fried chicken for the family. 👍

I especially like the breading on the chicken, but sometimes I wish they had roasted chicken, too. The small, thin napkins are ridiculously inadequate to deal with eating fried chicken. They need to put in 1 or 2 sheets of paper towels, which they offer for indoor dining.

First time trying Bush's Chicken. Pretty impressed. They were as busy as a chick fila (three lines in the drive through) and just as quick. Chicken could have been fried a bit longer color wise, but was crisp and juicy inside. Flavor was great, good gravy. Sides were great, nothing disappointed. Got corn fritters, mashed potatoes, and coleslaw. Except the rolls. They're ok, but not worth getting extra like at some places. Definitely gonna try them again to see what other sides are good, and if the Chicken is even better when not as busy

I ordered the #1 value meal which consists of 2 chicken tenders, gravy, a side (I picked mac n cheese), a roll and a large drink for $5.50 (I think). It was all pretty good. The mac n cheese lacked flavor but I would eat here again.

The food is excellent. I wish Bush’s employees enforce the line services by politely informing the customer(s) next time could they park in Line 1 or 3 when ordering a non-beverage item or put the sign somewhere more noticeable or multiple signs up.

I got to this restaurant after a delayed flight and a canceled hotel reservation, came in mostly for the free wifi. The chicken tenders were really good and so were the fries. The place is a little bit messy though

First time trying Bushes. It was solid and the staff was really friendly but I personally prefer the competition. That said, if you haven't been here and like fried chicken I suggest you try it. You might like it more. Matter of personal preference, I believe.

I love Bush's Chicken. Wish we had more in Austin area. So today i treated myself. Food was good and the service was fast. Not too busy...at least not for the dining room to be so messy. Floor needs swept tables wiped down. It eventually got handled.

This location is getting worse. The chicken was so dry and overcooked, the breading wouldn't come off the chicken leg without all the meat. They no longer serve corn nuggets. And I've always loved the friendly service I get but the lady that helped me this time was not happy to be there.

Staff was very friendly & helpful with menu. Got the 3 piece tender meal with fries & roll. Not happy with the food. Tenders were pretty small & so was the serving of fries, not a whole order. And the food was cold, like it had been sitting for awhile. Not even lukewarm.

This service was wonderful. This service was great, but I must give two stars only because the Cashier was planning in her hair fixing her hair working in the register and fixing food for customers that’s unacceptable. You must wash your hands at all times enough playing your hair there was also staff members that I observed with gloves on going in and out the door, bringing other customers their food through drive-through and was not changing their gloves. They were also using those gloves to touch other items that people had to eat with. I am willing to return again for better observations of this location.

I went for this 1st time after hearing about Bush's Chicken. Eh, it's ok, skin is not crisp and falls off easily. Fried ocra and the corn nuggets are good, although there was old ocra mixed with fresher ocra. And I didn't get cream gravy I ordered for the strips. So, I'm 50/50 with this place. Kinda expensive. Maybe I'll try it again if I'm around there again but wont go out of my way.

I don't usually write reviews even when I've had bad experiences but tonight was really disappointing with the staff. I usually frequent this location usually for a drink about every other day, then once in a while a meal and for the most part the staff is very pleasant. So much so I know a few of the employees and they have my order memorized (honestly those people are amazing and when I have cash I tip). Tonight on the other hand was the worst experience I've ever had. Maybe it was an off night for the crew, maybe it's due to having an unpleasant day and just looking forward to a chewy brownie and my usually drink. But I have to say I left very upset. It seemed busy which I didn't mind waiting, but after ten minutes I had noticed two lines clear and the line me and two other cars were waiting in had not been helped. I decided to try to switch to a different lane and luckily the other two cars in my previous lane were help. I, on the other hand, was ignore. I gave them the benefit of the doubt since I switched, but when I notice 3 cars arrive and all get helped before me I became a little irritated. It wasn't until another new car arrive and was helped before I was acknowledged that I then had to ask for service. Usually I would be fine if it there was "Thank you for being patient we were busy tonight." Instead it was straight to the point look, took my payment, then didn't offer me my receipt nor had I received a straw. I think I would have avoided the review completely had my drink been the right drink I asked for, but seeing that I wasn't given a receipt I'm not sure if maybe I said something else or was once again ignored. Again I usually love the staff, they are amazing sweet people but maybe the Thursday night crew just ain't it. So lesson learned to avoid on Thursdays. (Hopefully it was just an off night)

I do love Bush’s. I’ve given this location 3 tries. Always forget my honey mustard in exchange for gravy. And the last 2 times the chicken tenders were so tiny -they might as well be thin chicken nuggets.

Pretty much done here. I have literally never gotten fresh fries. Always soggy. The chicken is alright, the yeast rolls are okay. The drinks are all ice. The service is terrible. That team leader there is not polite. If he doesn’t want to do the job maybe he should look somewhere else. He never smiles. You can tell he hates it. Hands you the food and walks off.

The chicken was very dry and there was a piece missing. I asked for a refund and they never answer there emails. I disputed transaction with credit card and they still wont refund the order. I will not remove negative feedback until I receive my refund.

They never give you the correct amount of tenders! Several visits now of ordering the 20 piece tender family dinner only to get 14, 15, 15 and 17 pieces out of 20 I don’t know why they have a phone number because they never answer it !! Tender pieces have been getting smaller and smaller each visit. It would really be nice to be able to call them and tell them about these things without having to drive back every single time to correct my order. Whoever the manager on duty is at night should really get more training, especially on how to answer a phone!!

I have been coming to this restaurant since I moved to Austin in 2004. Today I had a terrible experience with the manager, Ryan. I’ve never had a problem ordering food on my bicycle through the drive-through. Today I was denied service and asked to come inside. I did not see a safe bike rack to secure my bike to so I brought my bike inside. I was told that my bike leaning against a table was not safe and they were not serving inside either. It’s a good thing there’s so many great options for fried chicken in South Austin. This restaurant lost a regular and I will spread the word.

First and last time here. Bunch of kids working at night and especially felt like the girls came off a little racial, scared and super close to the manager. I understand that it's at the end of the night but my food should not have been so cold. No one asked if I needed napkins, utensils, and condiments. When I came back to get those items the girls were being rude and making hand gestures to go away. They called the manager and he was really quick to jump after you can see like one of the girls was yelling at him for help. I felt so low when I was a paying customer. I have more details but honestly it hurts.

Ordered chicken tenders with a “LARGE” drink and they give me this small can of coke. I then asked the cashier if that can was a “large” and she replied with YES. I then asked if I can have water as well because a small can is not enough to eat with my food and she replied with NO. I don’t understand how you advertise a “LARGE” drink and offer a small can.

I’ve gone in here multiple times they are never friendly but I like the food, today I got a 3pc combo & a tender roll combo and I found a hair in my roll, when I tried to call on the store and let them know what happened they requested a receipt, I made the Gentlemen on the phone know I didn’t receive my receipt that teh man that took my order kept it he tried to tell me they gave me my receipt and wanted to continue to argue with me about it rather than resolve my issue. Hair inside food in unacceptable. And then to not even try to find a middle ground in the situation is worse.

I am writing to express my disappointment regarding the customer service I received during my recent visit. I asked an employee if the gizzards being served were fresh. The team lead told me they were not fresh. I then politely asked if they could fry a fresh batch. The team lead responded that he could not make that decision and that it was up to a manager. What concerned me most was his attitude afterward. He openly admitted that the food available was old. After saying this, he allowed me to walk away without offering to contact a manager, resolve the issue, or provide any type of customer service. As a paying customer, I expect honesty, but I also expect staff to care about the quality of the food being served and to make an effort to resolve concerns. The dismissive response and lack of willingness to help created a very poor experience. I hope this matter can be addressed so that customers receive better service and are not knowingly served food that employees themselves acknowledge is old. Thank you for taking the time to review my concern.

Every week my husband comes there to get large digits, twice the gizzards were not freshly cooked. We were very disappointed, especially coming from this location. We didn’t have the best experience in KYLE but here we had in the past I tried calling the store to speak with a manager no one will answer the phone. This is pitiful. You run a business and don’t pick up your telephone. We don’t care to go to this location anymore. Cook your food correctly, especially when you’re dealing with gizzards. And you could be more friendlier I would not recommend my clients or coworkers after this experience not once but twice

Manager on 11/7 8pm prepared our meal to go. First he loaded up four crushed rolls. I requested he not use those and he put one back for another one. The chicken was old, the rolls were dried out, the gallon of tea was sticky and dirty on outside of container. This location needs help or should shut down before it gives the other stellar locations a really bad name. This manager is sloppy attire shows his same sloppiness in his work and should be terminated. Hope the owner reads reviews but given the manager on duty today it is doubtful. It’s a shame.

Ordered a 20 pc tender meal $46. Majority of tenders were cold not cool actual cold and stiff, also rolls were cold. We have eating bushes for yrs and this was definitely day old tenders mixed in. We wait a few minutes for okra I guess bc they were the only thing nice and hot. Didn’t think to check the tenders. So I should have. Called store to let them know. No acknowledgment of possible wrong. Just a bring them back we will switch it out. Which would be fine (but she said it in a way that almost felt like “prove it”) and I’m a 15+min drive away. $46 for tenders to be mostly cold isn’t okay and she (the manager) should have handled the situation better. Also, once I told her I would leave a review, she offered a free meal but I turned that down. CHECK your food

Went there on 8-30-25 Saturday to get some livers & the lady Lupe came out to take my order & I ask her if I COULD GET 1 FREE RANCH DRESSING & SOME HONEY PACKETS & SHE TOLD ME THAT YOU WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THAT!!!! Now THAT IS TOTALLY UNBELIEVABLE!!! What a bunch of cheapskates, she must be taking the stuff home with her!!! Most of the people will give you a few!
