Loved our visit to Caroline! Aaron was an awesome server—super friendly and on top of everything. I had the biscuits and gravy and the Mexican coffee, and both were so good. The biscuits and gravy were comforting and flavorful, and that Mexican coffee was the perfect treat to go with it. Great food, great service, and a really nice vibe. Would definitely come back!
Our food and service was amazing! Leanne and Rachel took great care of us! She had great recommendations on what to order and didn’t steer us wrong, we loved everything she recommended! When in Austin, we will definitely be back again!
So so good! I was in town for a few days staying at the CitizenM a block up for a work trip. We normally try new things but we ate at Caroline's twice on our trip. Delicious food! We didn't need reservations when we went during the week but they're recommend. There's also a bar up stairs. I got a appetizer, entree and soda for $50 including a soda and tip. Great spot.
I wish I could remember what our waiter’s name was because he was just awesome!!! we had such a delightful evening at Caroline’s and the food was amazing! I had the green chili chicken enchiladas, which had just the right amount of heat and cilantro. Also, the chicken was done to perfection, which can be a gamble with chicken enchiladas, where the chicken ends up dry or rubbery. I wish I would’ve gotten a picture to share of our dessert which was the chocolate bread pudding because it was just to die for!
Great breakfast, coffee, and non-coffee options. My breakfast potatoes were so tasty... The wait was short although the restaurant was quite busy on a Friday morning. Our server was so nice too. He looked like that actor Ian Harding lol.
We had Christmas brunch at Caroline’s today, and it was truly such a special experience. From the moment we walked in, the entire place felt festive, welcoming, and full of holiday spirit. The food and drinks were absolutely perfect—delicious mimosas and eggs Benedict done just right—but what truly made our morning unforgettable was the service. Our server, Memory, was phenomenal. She was so warm, friendly, and genuinely kind, and she made us feel cared for from start to finish. Her energy and attentiveness added so much joy to our Christmas morning and honestly elevated the entire experience. We were also incredibly impressed with the manager and the whole staff who chose to sacrifice their Christmas morning so people like us could have a place to gather, relax, and feel festive. That generosity did not go unnoticed. Everything—from the atmosphere to the food to the impeccable service—was amazing, but Memory’s outstanding service is what truly stood out and made this experience so memorable. We’re so grateful and will absolutely be back.
Everything about Caroline was absolutely perfect! ✨ This is a cozy, intimate spot that delivers an impressive dining experience with outstanding food and service. The space is small but thoughtfully designed, creating a welcoming and polished atmosphere. Downstairs features a well-organized restaurant with a formal yet comfortable vibe 🍽️, while upstairs offers a fun, energetic party-style ambiance 🎉—great for different moods in one location. The food truly tasted like a 5-star experience, both in flavor and presentation. Every dish arrived beautifully plated and full of bold, well-balanced flavors 😍. Highlights included the spicy deviled eggs 🌶️, roasted street corn, and the oven-baked chicken wings, which were perfectly cooked. The crab and artichoke dip was rich and comforting. For mains, the chicken schnitzel was crispy and flavorful, the wild mushroom bolognese was earthy and satisfying 🍄, and the green chili chicken enchiladas had just the right amount of heat. The standout was the lobster bucatini 🦞, which was creamy, indulgent, and absolutely delicious. Tried Goey butter cake(taste is good but little over baked- got stuck around the cup) and Tres leches ice cream(decent but not exceptional) Service was attentive, friendly, and professional throughout the visit 👏. Pros: ✔️ Exceptional food quality ✔️ Beautiful presentation ✔️ Great service ✔️ Fun upstairs vibe with a refined downstairs dining area Cons: ➖ Bit pricy, Limited space, so reservations are recommended Highly recommend Caroline for a memorable dining experience in Austin! 🌟
10/10 over all! Came from New Jersey and will definitely be back! Such a vibe sitting outside and enjoy some people watching, sunshine and great food! Our server Aaron suggested all the amazing things including the Marshallow Latte. It came hot and I was disappointed I read it wrong - he poured it over ice with ease and that extra service really made this moment & dads get away that much better! Def. ask for Aaron
It started with a great table by the window facing Congress. Great service from Aaron. I said I wanted a smoothie and he suggested the Berry Basil Smoothie. Great flavor! Enjoying every sip. Aaron also suggested the Spinach and Feta Egg Whites Omelet with sourdough toast and strawberry jam. The omelet was delicious. The omelet came with breakfast potatoes. The potatoes were cooked nicely and they had a slight crispness to them. Did I say I got great service from Aaron. I like the jazzy upbeat vibe of the restaurant.
I was dubious, but it was fantastic. It was a peak time, and I was alone. Walter was my waiter and he did an excellent job. He gave me just the right amount of privacy, made excellent suggestions, and made sure I was taken care of. The deviled eggs were incredible, the steak was delicious and cooked perfectly to what I asked for. Even the fries and the garnishes were good. I don’t have a single bad thing to say, which is unusual for me lol.
After another trip to Austin and trying "the best barbecue", I decided to switch tracks and get a regular meal. I stumbled across this corner restaurant and had the best food I had in two trips to Austin. I didn't have a reservation but they were happy to seat me at the bar which I actually enjoy even though I don't drink. The bartenders were both quite busy but helped me immediately when I sat down. One recommended the Wild Mushroom Bolognese and he was right. It was fantastic. I started with sweet tea and spicy deviled eggs. Whatever was on the center of the plate was gone when I finished the eggs. The Bolognese was delicious with the pasta cooked perfectly. The biggest problem with mushrooms is they're usually overcooked. These were perfect and added texture and flavor to the sauce. I definitely recommend this bustling restaurant if you have time and I do suggest a reservation.
Wow! That pretty much sums up my experience at Caroline. Wonderful food and top notch service from waiter, Aaron despite the lunch time rush. It was pretty loud during this time and but you can still talk. If you come at this time, the outdoor seating (weather permitting) might be best for an easier conversation. We did have about a 10 minute wait or so when we arrived. But I had the steak sandwich which was delicious and good portion with fries. Baked Goat cheese and the iced latte was yummy. Also had the cinnamon roll which was especially delicious. Its downtown so the parking is slim pickings. I actually parked in the Omni hotel garage for a fee but the walk was not too far. I would definitely come back and if you haven't tried it make your way to Caroline off Congress Ave!!
Terrific experience! We were in town for a music festival (!) and found this spot. Food and service were both excellent. The coffee and Green Goddess salad to start set the tone, then the green chile enchiladas (me) and sweet corn cake Benedict (her) were flavorful, fresh and most enjoyable. Shoutout to Ana Maria, our server, who took great care of us with an assist from Wes, the manager. We will definitely return when we’re back in town! Highly recommend!
My friend and I drove to Austin for brunch and absolutely loved the ambiance. The restaurant felt very welcoming, and we were seated right away by the window, which made the experience even better. Our server was very friendly, offered helpful feedback on our selections, and gave great recommendations. We started with drinks—an OJ mimosa and coffee/matcha. It took a little while to receive our drinks, and our coffee and matcha arrived after our appetizer was served. For our appetizer, we ordered the Burrata plate. It was paired beautifully, and everything on the platter complemented the delicious, creamy burrata perfectly. There was a short wait before placing our main orders, but once we did, the food came out pretty quickly. We ordered the Huevos Rancheros and the Sweet Corn Cake Benedict. Both dishes were flavorful and well-balanced. Overall, it was a great brunch experience. I would definitely recommend this spot and look forward to coming back again.
The deviled egg dish was hero dish for us. Chicken and corn dish was also good. We had mocha latte which was also good. It wasn’t super hot for me so I requested the same and they provided me a new latte. Menu is small as well
Visited Caroline and overall enjoyed the flavors, but had a few notes. The portions were a bit small, particularly the cauliflower grits, which were tasty but too little for the size of the short rib which was delicious. The greens paired with it were served plain, taking up most of the plate without any sauce such a flavorful dish deserved a bit more thought in presentation. The mahi was full of flavor, but the dish felt like it needed a starch to balance the acidity. The burrata with pesto and tomatoes was delicious, but pairing it with store bread didn't feel right. The multigrain bread was tasty, but I'd prefer fresh, bakery-quality bread instead. Overall, great flavors and the experience, but the plating and portion choices could use a bit of refinement.
I got the Sweet Corn Cake Benedict and it was actually amazing. My mother got the Spinach and Feta omelette which was also solid, but I recommend going with the SWCB. If I go again, I'd probably try the steak and eggs. Customer service was over the moon. Loved our server. Food came out a bit slower than anticipated, but they more than made up for it.
We had a good experience overall at Caroline. The food was really tasty, and we enjoyed sitting out on the patio. That said, the service was on the slower side, and it would’ve been nice if they had cleared the dirty tables around us while we were eating. One thing I didn’t love — at the end of the meal, they mentioned a 20% gratuity had been added because of F1 weekend. It would’ve been better if that was disclosed upfront. Still, the atmosphere and food were enjoyable enough to make it worth a visit.
Our server was really nice and she gave good suggestions. I had avocado toast with an egg and it was good. The biscuits and gravy came out luke warm and was not very good. The chicken enchiladas was dry and I wouldn’t order again. Okay atmosphere. At the bottom of a hotel so not the local feel I enjoy.
Was in town for work and this place came up for breakfast with great reviews. We were so disappointed with everything except the waitress. She was very attentive and friendly. This place is way overpriced for basic food items. The scrambled eggs were rubbery and looked like a 1-1 1/2 large egg portion. The bacon was supposed to be peppered bacon but it was very thin and didn't taste peppered. The potatoes were ok, nothing special and you definitely needed the ketchup. The sourdough toast was actually really good and the best thing on the plate. You have to ask for jam, they only put butter on your plate. We started with vanilla lattes and a cinnamon roll to share. Although the latte were very pretty, they tasted like hot milk with maybe 1/2 shot of espresso in about a 10 oz mug. I had to add sugar as it had no flavor. They make them in house upon ordering. The cinnamon roll looked nothing like the pictures online and it was laughably small even if it was for one person. We cut it in half and each got 2 bites. The plate it's on is a dessert plate so that should show you how small it was. This place is overpriced and very underwhelming.
So, I was really excited to eat at this restaurant, but unfortunately, my breakfast that I got there was cold. The service was good as they replaced the cold potatoes, but they replaced it with more cold potatoes. The breakfast burrito the eggs were also cold. The three days I tried to get coffee there they had no espresso machine because it was out of service. The place is really overpriced for mediocre food, especially if it’s cold. It’s definitely not worth the cost. The smoothies were exceptional and the desserts are great. I honestly would never recommend this place and I don’t know how it has a 4.8 review.
I'm struggling to understand the glowing reviews and high star rating for this place. We arrived for our 8:45 PM reservation at 8:30 PM. The host, with a terrible attitude, directed us to wait 15 minutes upstairs for a table that was already ready. When we returned at 8:45 PM, he ignored us until another employee stepped in to help. His behavior was both rude and racially biased. The experience upstairs was equally bad. It was raining, the area was in disrepair, and we got soaked. The drinks were undrinkable; I can’t believe they messed up a mule. The menu was disappointing, offering only a handful of unexciting dishes. The short ribs I ordered were tiny and bland, and my friend's chicken schnitzel tasted like something you’d get from a freezer bag. Paying $100 each for this was outrageous. Our server was the only bright spot, but he was completely overwhelmed, forced to bartend, serve, and bus tables. The delays were a direct result of the restaurant's inadequate staffing, not his service. I expected an upscale dining experience but instead got something that felt like a fast-food joint.
