Opinions de Codependent Cocktails + Coffee Austin
Such a hidden gem! Firstly, the service was impeccable as soon as we walked up. We don’t eat pork, and the staff immediately picked up on it when we asked about the meatball sandwich. They laid out all their beef, chicken, and veggie options for us. I loved how welcome they made us feel by talking us through the whole menu. We got the steak asado sandwich, a buffalo chicken sandwich, a tomato soup, and the kale Caesar. Everything was a 10/10! The quality of the bread SHONE and the tomato soup was so flavorful.
Their porchetta is truly delicious. A bit pricy, but definitely a worthwhile treat. Kudos to whoever picked out the decor as well. The down to earth atmosphere is clear and very well executed.
Delicious sandwiches. Came in from Chicago and we were craving a good sandwich. Loved the chili aioli dip. All the ingredients were high quality. Pricey place but great option
After hearing only good things about Meat and Bread, myself and some friends decided to give it a try for a week day lunch. It's a cute little spot on the 1st floor of the 360 Condos with both indoor and outdoor seating. Offering order ahead and counter service, the line moves quickly. The employees were incredibly friendly and helpful as we asked some questions about the menu. We got the Porchetta, Buffalo Chicken, and Eggplant Parm sandwiches along with a side of the Calabrian Chili Aioli. They're known for their Porchetta and we see why. That sandwich was phenomenal in both texture and flavor. The Buffalo Chicken was a good mix of spicy and tasty. The Eggplant Parm was very good as well and had a great ratio of tomato to cheese to herbs. I look forward to coming back and trying the Meatball sandwich and more.
Amazing grilled cheese and tomato soup. So homey. Very simple but done very very well. Great staff. Highly Recommend!
I first came across this place last year while visiting from Phoenix. The person in front of me in line bought the very last porchetta sandwich. While the sandwich I got instead was good, the sight of that porchetta stuck with me. On a recent return trip to Austin, I made it a mission to come in early and finally get my prize. I am so glad I did! The porchetta sandwich is, without exaggeration, one of the top three sandwiches I have ever had in my life. It was absolutely incredible. We have nothing close to this back in Phoenix, so Meat and Bread will be a definite ritual for me every single time I'm in Austin. A must-visit!
I had to check this place out myself based on the rave reviews. They are not wrong. The sandwich was delicious and the food fresh, moist, and different than other sandwich shops. Parking was challenging, but there is a near by parking garage you can pay to park. The staff were friendly and caring. I had the Porchetta and it did not disappoint my wife had a grilled cheese with buffalo chicken which was also good. I was going to take photos before biting in but I couldn’t resist once it was served.
Cute little restaurant tucked away but a true hidden gem. The porchetta sandwich did not disappoint and the people working were so friendly and welcoming.
THEY TAKE PRIDE IN WHAT THEY DO. and you can taste it! exquisite cuisine, amazing friendly staff, small menu, expertly crafted, smoothly delivered. Beautiful beautiful stuff
Heck yeah! I heard a lot of hype about this porchetta sandwich. So I walked over from the Austin Proper and got this sandwich. Holy cow!! Super fresh. Super juicy. Awesome flavors. Phenomenal bun. Cut right in front of you. Quick in and out. Worth every step and penny it took to get this sandwich! Get one. You won’t regret it!
The staff was delightful and the sandwich was the best Ive ever had. Very clean and outside seating available. Delicious.
This place has the best Sandwiches in the city, hands down. As soon as you walk in you’re greeted by the awesome owner, Ernie. You will see them prepare the pancetta sandwich right in front of you, and your mouth will begin watering. As soon as you taste it, you will understand why so many people rave about this place! If your on the fence, go ahead and give it a try, you won’t regret it.
Hands down.... one of the best sandwiches and pork I've ever had!! The customer service is as good as the food! We had the Italian Panino, Meatball sub, side of tomato soup, and sides of Ponchetta. Simply Amazing!
This was my first time coming in to Meat & Bread after tons of recommendations and I can say I was not disappointed. Food was amazing and Griffen and his dad were so welcoming. 10/10 recommend!!
We thoroughly enjoyed our first sandwich here last week! Ernie was a great host and guided us to their most delectable sandwiches - the porchetta and the steak frites. The flavor of the meat on both sandwiches was unbelievably good! If we lived in Austin, we would eat here regularly! Eat here- it will be worth your time!
Prepare to have the best sandwich of your life. We went the day after the Super Bowl and the owner was there making the food. You can tell he genuinely loves what he does, cares about the community, and is proud of the food he serves. He offered to turn any of the specialty sandwiches into a grilled cheese, and had great suggestions for condiments to accompany the sandwiches. We’re just in town for a week, but it wouldn’t surprise me if we return for another lunch before we leave because the food and experience was just that good.
Met the owner on my first visit today and the hospitality was amazing! Now as good as the hospitality was the food was even better. My girlfriend and I took a meatball sub, a chicken parm, and two cups of tomato soup to go. I can guarantee I’ll be back very soon. Mouth is still watering afterwords!
I was not expecting that porchetta sandwich to be as epic as it was. For starters, kudos to Griffin, who was working today, for steering me to it, and fixing it so well: That was the moistest, meltiest, butteriest, garlickest, pesto-est, crackling-est porchetta I may have ever had. I had the large kale Caesar to quiet my conscience, and it was damn good, too -- this place is not afraid of garlic. Very impressed. Thank you, Griffin!
Stopped in just to check out the menu and ended up getting a sandwich to go. While waiting for our sandwich, we had the opportunity to visit with the owner and his son. They were very welcoming and conversational. It was as if we were all gathered in the family kitchen with friends and family. We ordered the Porchetta Sandwich and it was soooo good! It was a bit pricey, but totally worth it!
Great atmosphere and perfect for girls night out! Happy hour until 7pm on Saturdays! Bryan was an amazing server and let us put the disco ball down!
I’ve only been for happy hour, but they have great happy hour prices, and the best espresso martinis in town! Super cute atmosphere. Melayna is very attentive, and super sweet! Definitely a must try.
10/10 — this place absolutely nails the coffee shop and bar hybrid. By day, it’s a coworking dream: tons of tables, great outdoor space, reliable energy, and a layout that actually works whether you’re solo with a laptop or meeting with a group. The vibes are focused but not stiff — productive without feeling sterile. As the day rolls on, it effortlessly shifts into a bar that’s just as good for hanging out, gathering with friends, or posting up at the group bar space. It’s one of those rare, truly versatile spaces that feels intentional at every hour, not confused. Come for the coffee, stay to work, linger for a drink, and somehow it all makes perfect sense.
Codependent Bar absolutely blew me away. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere struck that perfect balance between refined and inviting, stylish without ever feeling pretentious. The cocktails were masterpieces, each one layered with thoughtful flavors and presented with the kind of care you only see from people who truly love their craft. A huge part of what makes Codependent so special is its bar director, Gabe. His presence elevates the entire experience. You can feel his influence in every detail, from the innovative menu to the impeccable pacing of service. Gabe’s passion for hospitality shines, and his team reflects that energy beautifully. Whether he’s recommending a drink you didn’t know you’d love or simply checking in with a warm, genuine smile, he makes you feel like a welcomed guest rather than just another customer. If you haven’t been yet, go. If you have, go again. Codependent is the kind of place that keeps getting better, and Gabe is a big reason why.
I stop by every time I'm in Austin and it never disappoints. I always go for whatever specialty spritz they have available on the menu—my favorite one ever was a strawberry-coconut infused elderflower spritz from a few years back, and I still think about it ALL the time. I even DMed the business on Instagram for the recipe, and they were kind enough to send it to me. On my most recent visit, I sat at the bar and was able to get some work done on my laptop which was nice. I tried the seasonal spritz which was Italicus, Pisco, Pear, Prosecco, and Sparkling Sicilian Lemonade. It was SO delicious. I also grabbed an iced Ube Matcha Latte to go, and it was fantastic as well. Consistently a great spot with creative drinks and a warm, welcoming vibe.
In general, this spot is just outstanding. I’ve been here a couple of times to do some remote work and every time it’s been a solid experience. The atmosphere is relaxed but still has that modern, stylish vibe that makes you want to stay for hours. Their Wi-Fi is insanely fast (I clocked it at over 450 Mbps), which is a lifesaver if you’re working. The drinks and cocktails are genuinely good — not your average coffee shop stuff — and the service has always been on point. The location is also a big plus. Easy to get to, plenty of parking around, and it feels like a perfect balance between a coffee shop and a cocktail bar. Honestly, it’s one of those places you can come for work during the day and seamlessly stay for a drink in the evening. Definitely one of my go-to spots in Austin — highly recommend checking it out.
Loved the cocktails we had at this little bar - an espresso martini and the ice ball. We took advantage of their happy hour pricing, which was available Tuesday to Saturday 5 to 7. The stylish interior overlooks the creek trail on one side and towards the library from the other side. It's an easy walk from the library, Seaholm complex, west sixth street, lady bird lake, or much of downtown. The staff were friendly and helpful. I'd return for their happy hour and try more delicious drinks.
This place was so cute! It’s very chic and business casual. Most people who were in the cafe were there to work but it was a great vibe :) I got an Ube latte which was delicious! The cashier/barista was very nice and helped me understand the different latte flavors. Coffee was well priced. I did not get a chance to try their cocktails or food yet.
My absolute favorite place to work with my co-workers. The Black Sesame Latte is the BEST. I love that I can bring my pup here and the workers are always super friendly. I probably come here 2-3x a week, mainly because of the delicious drinks and dog friendly atmosphere. They do have a screens down rule at a certain time on weekdays and weekends, but it's an extremely reasonable rule after 4pm and on weekends. Highly recommend!
This is my absolute favorite place for an espresso martini. They nail it every time! I order my espresso martini with Don Fulano Reposado Tequila for a little extra kick. The “Cocktails by Design” are their seasonal cocktails, and you can’t go wrong. They use local ingredients and flavors that are “in season”. Can’t say enough good things about Gabe! He’s such an educated bartender!
Great first experience at Codependent! Had been wanting to visit this spot ever since I had moved to downtown Austin. Loved the atmosphere! Such a great vibe for either a coffee date or just an after work cocktail. The bartenders Gabe and Peyton were amazing and so attentive! Plus their drinks were phenomenal. Got to try their Valentine’s Day Specialty drinks; they were so good. Definitely try their Au Pear and the My Cup of Tea off their standard menu!
This was an incrediblely unique stop on my most recent trip to Austin. We started the day here and it was definitely the right choice. The interior space is very upscale and chic, however since it is both a cocktail bar and coffee shop, it still maintains a coziness in the atmosphere. The drinks we received were strong and well made, and the service overall was great. Next time I'm in Austin, I fully plan to stop by.
I stopped by Meat & Bread for lunch while visiting Austin for work. I only had a short break and loved that it was within walking distance from my office. After seeing all the positive reviews, I decided to give it a try. The place is small, clean, and has a really welcoming vibe. The staff were extremely friendly and recommended their signature Porchetta sandwich. It definitely had great flavor and texture. It was a little oily for my taste, but still very good overall. I’d definitely come back the next time I’m in Austin for lunch.
Frat House meets Confused Coffee Bar… A friend and I decided to randomly try this place- before we even walked in we both were put off by how dirty the sofas and tables outside were (inside sofas were not much better- thus the Frat House vibe). We went to order drinks and were told we’d have to wait 20 mins as the bartender wasn’t there (what?). 20 mins later we ordered what were the worst and most expensive espresso martinis we’d both ever had- a good one should have a layer of crema, not a frothy foam that hardens an inch thick and never dissipates (I say this having bartended for years and expect better for a $20 drink). While the minimal staff there were “nice” there was no sense of urgency and we felt like we were on their time. The inside sofa we sat on was ready for GoodWill, and when my sofa cushion pulled away a bit from the back revealing the area beneath my friend made a face and pointed - I don’t think it had ever been cleaned or wiped down, which made us wonder about the tables. We didn’t get what the vibe was supposed to be and saw the few people in there having a coffee working on laptops- so I guess an over-priced and over-rated coffee joint with a lot of big windows. We obviously didn’t order any food or another round of drinks, and decided to do a walking hangout outside vs staying on the Frat House sofa.
Super rude staff. I sat down at the bar with my friend… I was sober the whole time. Had a mocktail. I sat exactly where the chair was properly placed and this couple scooted their chairs kinda close which was fine. And then the host or whichever staff member asked me to get up, move my seat because “I was on top of them” I’ve never been spoken to like that. All my friends go here but I will be advising them against it from now on. I also live in the building the dependent. FYI the lights and stuff are super cheesy at night.
