Food and atmosphere are always amazing. We have been here 3-times and always leave bubbly and happy. It’s fun to people watch and share good eats and drinks. I love the heat.
Great spot to eat and socialize. The food is very fresh and tasty. The service was great considering we had to sit in the bar. Had the La Condesa margarita. It was delicious. Guacamole was great. The Green Goddess, a new menu item got rave reviews. The Tostado De Tinga was great.
Love this spot, the food is always great no matter what I’ve gotten (obviously can never go wrong w the tacos) and the service is awesome! Sarah helped us for our meal and she was the sweetest help we could’ve asked for from beginning to end! Super attentive, quick to get back with us and always there if anything was needed. Would recommend!
The flavors are wild. Great heat comes with great responsibility. The tacos give a touch of history and presence present. The Smokey rich camarones give way to a blend of ceviche and shrimp cocktail forged in a smokey blend. I look forward to exploring the menu more
we ate at la condesa and it was incredible! i had the short rib quesadilla and my boyfriend has the carnitas tacos. Garza was our server, he explained the menu very well and he made our night even more special. Highly recommend!
Came for happy hour on a Monday at the bar with a friend and it was such a cozy and wonderful experience. Neha was our server and was extremely attentive and friendly! For food, I highly recommend the queso and the green beans(the dip surrounding the green beans was so zesty and had amazing umami)!! Don’t skip. For a cocktail, I had the Alma Blanca and it was perfect. It was sweet and spicy at the same time (so a great balance) and so smooth. Every detail, even the candle lit in the bathroom which smells amazing, created a comforting experience.
Great brunch at La Condesa! We arrived right at opening and the service was fast, friendly, and very knowledgeable. The chicken chilaquiles, huevos rancheros, churro waffles, and queso flameado were all hot, fresh, and full of flavor. Agua Frescas were super tasty and refreshing. They were very accommodating about us not eating pork and the brunch menu is surprisingly vegetarian‑friendly. Do note that the queso is authentic Mexican queso (not Tex‑Mex), rich and delicious. So if your expecting Tex-Mex, it may not be for you, but we thought it was delicious. Eggs were cooked perfectly, and the chilaquiles had some good spiciness but was a bit salty, however it was still excellent. Generous portions, great quality, and overall a fantastic experience. Highly recommend.
Quaint, cozy Mexican restaurant in downtown Austin. They have changed their menu and made it quite unique. Short but very good. Locally sourced ingredients, amazing taste and quick service are the highlights here. Appetizers to main course, all items are a unique experience. Ambiance is great but a little bit more light should work too. Sometimes gets difficult to read menu. Good selection of wines, and some tasty and tangy margaritas too! Service is great.. their suggestions help pick out a great dish which otherwise I wouldn't have ordered. Definitely worth a try. Reasonable prices. Indoor and outdoor seating available. Might not require a reservation on weekdays.
INCREDIBLE! We chose this restaurant to use an OpenTable benefit we had. So glad we picked this restaurant! Happy Hour is 5-7:00 with 1/2 off ALL drinks from the bar. It's worth going just for Happy Hour! I had the Manzana Clara... delicious. My husband had a Moscow Mule also delicious. We started with the guacamole starter with chips, restaurant made masa. Mmmm. We ordered two separate dishes then shared. They were both so flavorful! The pork belly tacos were 10/10 as was the short rib quesadilla. We tried the desserts too! Tres Leches Cake and Pot de chocolat with banana ice cream. Oh! My! Goodness! The service was awesome! Meagan (I think) gave great recommendations and answered all of our questions. We asked her to bring another drink when ours got low...she was on it! I can't say enough about La Condesa. You must give it a try!
Wow, where do I even start? Brandon, who was running the host stand and serving as the manager on duty, was absolutely incredible and truly the highlight of our visit. He made sure we were well taken care of from the moment we arrived, offered fantastic dish recommendations, and was a major reason we'll keep coming back. We came for brunch and ordered the $4 palomas, banana bread, breakfast quesadilla, and short rib hash. I wish I had taken more photos, but trust me everything was so good we devoured it immediately. Highly recommend!
This place is solid! Perfect for a date night or a group night out. The house marg is delicious and food is superb. Highly recommend the crudo as a starter, and the a la brasa chicken was a flavor bomb. Blake was super sweet and attentive and helped us with the menu. Highly recommend for a downtown night out!
This place is a true hot spot for authentic Mexican food. From the moment you walk in, the décor is amazing and sets the tone for a great dining experience. I was traveling for work and decided to stop by. I sat outside on the patio, which had a great atmosphere. I ordered the carnitas tacos and their ceviche special—both were absolutely outstanding. To top it off, I enjoyed a mezcal cocktail that paired perfectly with the meal. The location is lively and popular, so expect it to be crowded and plan for a bit of a wait. But trust me, it’s well worth it for the food, service, and atmosphere.
We had an amazing experience from start to finish. All of the staff members were very friendly and inviting. Our server, Mike T, was very knowledgeable and personable. He had great recommendations and we felt really taken care of. The food was absolutely delicious and we would 100% come back. We had the short rib quesadillas, Sopes, Crudo, and Tres Leches. Mike recommended the Mezcal of Rosaluna Joven, which was stronger than I expected, but delicious and we also tried the Sandia Sabía cocktail which was delightful! Everything was great!
My wife and I attended the first collaboration of their Summer of Ceviche series featuring EnsenadaATX's Ceviche Tostada, it was amazing! We also had their Carnitas Tacos and Pai Pai (bay scallops), both dishes were excellent. The restaurant is beautiful and the staff/service was impeccable, we couldn't have asked for a better experience. We will be back.
Great food and plenty of options. My team and I really enjoyed the Agua Fresca - we had the Hibiscus and pineapple mint. We ordered many of the appetizers to start and did a few of the main courses family style. With a few tortillas, this worked really well. The servers were attentive and it was a really great experience
Walked in on a Saturday evening hoping to get a table for two and were initially told there would be a two-hour wait. We decided to check the bar area and, after about 15 minutes, were able to grab a table there instead. Overall, the food was good, though I enjoyed some dishes more than others. The short rib quesadilla (6/10) was my least favorite — it was quite greasy and lacked flavor. The tostada de tinga (8/10) was much better: very flavorful and well-balanced. The queso flameado (7/10) was also tasty and came in a generous portion. The churros were the highlight of the meal (9/10) — absolutely delicious. I’d definitely recommend making a reservation next time to avoid the long wait, but overall it was a solid dining experience.
Their Guacamole and corn starters were delicious, definitely worth trying. The chips are different from your regular chips served with guacamole, a bit hard and definitely provide some exercise to your jaws. The main course was not as appealing as the starters. The ambiance was welcoming and their starters are definitely worth trying.
La Condesa is a beautiful restaurant — nicely decorated with a stylish, modern vibe. The bar is cute and offers a good variety of cocktails. The appetizers like the guacamole and the queso fundido with peppers were good, though the esquites were not our favorite. We ordered a huarache, sopes, zucchini tostadas, a short rib quesadilla, and cochinita. The food was just okay overall — the sopes and quesadilla were decent, but nothing that really stood out. Service was average. We mentioned we were celebrating a birthday, but the waiter said they didn’t offer any complimentary dessert. When we ordered one, he also said they didn’t have candles so if you’re planning to celebrate, bring your own! Overall, the place is lovely and the ambiance is nice, but honestly, the food didn’t impress me. I’d much rather go to Suerte the food and cocktails there are much better, and you can tell the difference right away: Suerte is always packed, while at La Condesa you can easily get in without a reservation.
I thought the food was really good and tasty! Everything had a lot of flavor. The issue with my experience was the service. We had a reservation set and when we walked in the host was scrambling to get everything ready. The table was also not properly set, we had utensils missing and when we asked the server to bring out the missing utensils they were never brought out. We had to ask multiple times. Same happened with water. We would ask for more and the server would come back multiple times, and not bring it. I will say, the food runners did a good job bringing everything out and explaining what each dish was. Also we were sat outside and they turned the light off at one point so we were sitting in the dark.
The grilled corn was the only dish we enjoyed. However it’s overpriced ($15 for a small bowl). De quesadilla de short rib was too spicy hot 🥵 and it’s not mentioned on the menu and the server didn’t warn us either. Esquites (tuna, avocado) was too hot spicy and acidic. Again the menu or the server didn’t mention it. I couldn’t eat the tuna after I tried to eat the spicy short rib quesadilla. The portion is very small for the price. We both got heartburn. If the menu or server told us those dishes were hot, we could’ve asked not to have hot peppers at least on the tuna or we could’ve ordered something else. Since we didn’t enjoy these dishes, we wouldn’t order any main dish.
The good: They had good guacamole, and good salsa. The drinks were great. The bad: This place is the furthest thing from being worthy of a Michelin star. I say that because allegedly they were going for their star in the next review. The shrimp cocktail was nothing short of a mess of muddled flavors that was nasty. Their “ceviche” was closer to a sashimi dish or a seafood carpaccio, nothing what ceviche is in Mexico, not to mention fishy flavor! I ordered the carne asada plate which was $72 after they told be it’s a huge plate to share. What arrived was a 3/4” New York strip steak that was choice grade at best, chewy and over cooked. The ugly: This place is a stereotypical “yuppy” Mexican spot… There’s no way to put it nice. They hide behind a veil of “authentic Oaxacan” cuisine, most likely because 99% of people have never been to the region and have no clue what it means so they can make excuses. Myself and my family all got sick from this food, I’ll spare details but it was not fun!! In summary: This place has reviews that praise it as an Austin hot spot etc etc. This tells me one thing, people in Austin do not know what good Mexican food is, or at all. The steak really pissed me off when I got a tiny 1/2lb steak that would be put to shame by HEB standards, especially after being sold on a huge plate for the $72 price tag. All in for 3 people it was $300, and worth maybe 100, after getting sick I’m temped to request a refund all together.
Mexican food is my absolute favorite cuisine, but unfortunately this restaurant completely disappointed me and my family. I had been wanting to try this place for a long time, so I was genuinely excited when we finally went. The ambiance was beautiful and raised our expectations for the food. However, once we sat down and looked at the menu, the disappointment began. The menu is extremely limited, with very few options to choose from. If you have any dietary restrictions, I would strongly suggest skipping this place, as there are hardly any suitable or worthwhile options. The service didn’t help either—the server seemed uninterested and unengaged, which made the experience even less welcoming. We ordered the following dishes: Sikil Pak: The dip itself was just okay, but the tortilla served with it was extremely hard—difficult to break and eat. The portion of the dip was also very small, making it not worth the price. Guacamole: The guac was decent, but once again the chips were so hard that they felt almost inedible. Tinga Tostada: The base was, yet again, extremely hard to break, so we couldn’t really enjoy it and ended up leaving it. Chicken Quesadilla: This was the most disappointing dish of all. It took a very long time to arrive and was bland and tasteless. It felt more like something from a kids’ menu than a proper entrée. By this point, we had completely lost our appetite and decided to leave. Sadly, this was a very underwhelming experience, and I would not return or recommend this restaurant to others.
