I’m vegetarian and I avoid fake meat burgers, but there are a lot of good vegetarian burger places in Austin. These are consistently the best burgers I’ve ever had though, not just in Austin, but ever. Really nice vibe to the place with indoor and outdoor seating and a playground. Right next to a good amount of street parking (good by domain standards) I was running late for my pickup and was scheduled to reach 5 minutes after it closed, but I called ahead and the workers reassured me that it was no problem, and when I arrived after closing, one of the employees came out and gave me my order instantly, which I really appreciated. I’ve come here a lot and the service is always really good.

Really good burger at a great cost. And friendly staff to boot. Price is definitely worth it.

Excellent fast food burgers. Tasty with anniversary average menu options. Sweet potato fries are hot and crispy. Only downside is the limited parking so it's not a great destination, better if you're already shopping at The Domain.

Just visited Hat Creek Burger and it was great! The Cashier was friendly and got the entire order perfectly right. I tried the fried chicken sandwich and a few sauces and found my favorite. The kids got to play and had a great time. All round a great spot to eat and relax when the family gets hangry. 10/10

This was our first time at Hat Creek Burger Company, in Austin Texas. I have to say everything was wonderful. Our amazing and beautiful cashier was absolutely, positively friendly and so helpful. She didn't rush us through - and I thank her for that. Our cooks were so fantastic, and while one of our orders was wrong, the speed at which it was fixed and brought out with a smile and apology was so refreshing. And the play area for the kids! Oh my goodness. Sitting outside to eat while my little one got to play and socialize with other kids was beyond great! Kudos and hats off to everyone who gave us such a positive and fun experience. (Great experience occured Thursday, 21 April, 2022).

I ordered veggie burger and this was the best fresh patty i have ever had. The ambience was chill and price was very reasonable.

1st let's start with the service because that's key. The staff is very nice and friendly. Ok, next..food! I got the single hat, all the way, with cheddar and it was very good. My boyfriend ordered the paty melt and he said it was good. Our favorite out of everything were the fried pickles. Difficult to find a place that makes fried pickles with a light batter and thick cut pickles.

I get all the fixings on my burger and it’s so good every time! The bacon is actually bacon (not that flimsy stuff others try to pass for bacon) and The fries didn’t make it home. They were fresh and seasoned perfectly. I also tried an Oreo milkshake this time, and it’s the right amount of sweet.

Even my dog craves this burger. Hat Creek is one of those gems in Austin serving really delicious fast burgers. To me, they are better than a lot of the big brands and this location is just fun, right on domain with plenty of space for the kiddos.

I tried the classic, a double meat hamburger with American cheese, bacon, grilled onions and “hat sauce”. I’m not entirely sure what’s in the hat sauce, but it tasted like a combination of ketchup, mayo, and something peppery. It’s a solid fast food burger.

We're visiting from out of state and were looking for a quick bite. We came in today around 1 and I believe it was Jared (maybe Jason?) that helped us out. He was super friendly and welcoming. He had a great attitude and was fun to talk with. Our food was super fast and yummy! Also, gluten free friendly which is great!

We ordered the skinny turkey burgers. They were super juicy and tasted great. The tater tots was the side of choice with the hat sauce. Great for a quick eat in an nice open air environment.

I stopped by Hat Creek today to use a few coupons (a free side, nuggets, and milkshake). They usually can’t all be redeemed at once, but Daisy went out of her way to make separate orders so I could use them. Instead of taking the easy route and saying “only one at a time,” she took the extra effort to help. I truly appreciate her outstanding service!

Brought our gluten free neice for lunch on her first visit to austin she has never been able to order from an entire menu at any public resturant where shes from it was a one of a kind experience for her and one she'll truly never forget!

Currently on a business trip from Houston and i landed on this place and it was well worth the visit. The outside is beautiful, they have a nice open patio with plenty of seating arrangements and a play area for kids that looks put into the streets. The food was amazing. Everything was fresh and juicy. I forgot what I ordered but it didn't matter, it was amazing. I placed my order while on the way there, about a 6 minute drive and my food was ready by the time I filled my cup up. The representative at the register, i believe her name was Carolyn, was sweet and helpful and informed me about some go-to spots while i was visiting Austin. Great food, great location, great staff. This place is a must good you're visiting Austin.

Great Hat Creek location! It's sort of urban. The staff are always friendly and helpful. There's lots of seating. Parking on the street can be difficult. There are a few 15 min spots that open up across from it. The parking garage is off Cherry Sage. There's a green space across from the Apple Store if your kids need more space to run.

I used to live in Austin and never stopped in here until today. It did not disappoint. The burger, sweet potato fries, and the chocolate shake were great. The employee Jarrod (sp?) was very friendly, remembered my name the whole time I was in there and made me want to come back and eat here again.

The place is clean and organized. Service was slow but the burger tasted great. Nice seating area indoor and outdoor. We decided to sit outdoor and watch people pass by. Nice atmosphere. Good price and good meal.

Convenient, tasty, and kid friendly. As a parent of two kids I cringe to take my wild kids out sometimes to get something decent to eat. Hat Creek Burger located delivered on all fronts. The food was good, the atmosphere was chill, and I didn’t feel terrible sipping on a nice cold beer while my kids ran around on their play-set with other kiddos outside. If you haven’t tried fried pickles I would definitely recommend them. Side note, it may be worth the location investing in some type of door or barrier at the front entrance. While it’s cool and inviting to have anyone walk in off the street, I did constantly see parents running after their kids to make sure they didn’t run out the door and onto the street. (Not singing for this in the review... just a suggestion).

The food tastes okay, but the chicken is kind of powdery almost like it's never fried long enough. But I take gluten free food where I can considering I have celiacs disease. As for the service/atmosphere the place was pretty dirty with food/trash on the floors and sticky tables/chairs every time I've come to pick up my order. The staff doesn't seem like they want to be bothered at all either. Especially the woman usually at the cash register, she seems miserable every time I've seen her and ignores customers mid order/conversation and just stares at them. The one and only time I ordered in person in the place months ago she brushed me off when I asked about gluten even though I was trying to mention I had celiacs. Edit 2026: I increased the rating to a positive five stars and I increased the service and atmosphere ratings as well. The place is much more clean, and the staff seem much more attentive and less miserable now.

Got the Big Hat burger combo. The burger is juicy and filling. The soda is what you expect and the fries are good. My only suggestion is that there should be more fries since the combo costs like $17 which is kinda pricey. Overall a good burger spot and I will be going back again for sure.

Like most burger joints they had burgers and chicken sandwiches. My chicken was really good and the sweet potato fries were excellent. The chicken was grilled perfectly and everything went well with the sandwich including the bacon and avocado I added! The young man behind the register was awesome!

Hat Creek has and always will be a fan-favorite of mine. Having lived in Austin 3 years its great supporting a local buisness that started from a food truck and has become what it is now. Got me the Little Hat combo this time around. The fries are topped with a cajun seasoning that Ive always enjoyed. My one tiff is that for the price I believe the burgers and fries should be of a bigger size.

Every now and then, I get these cravings for a yummy hamburger! My husband loves burgers and, without hesitation, looks for places for us to eat! We decided to come back to Hat Creek at the domain after trying their food a while back with a couple of friends. I'm pretty picky when it comes to hamburgers, I'm more of a chicken person, but Hat Creek has good stuff! It definitely satisfied my craving, and their Peanut Butter Cup shake was the cherry on top for me! It's located in the Domain, so there's plenty of stores to shop around and go on nice walks when the weather is great! The staff was lovely and the service was quick and easy!

Had my first experience at Hat Creek Burger Company and it was nothing short of exceptional. Their burgers are refreshingly simple, yet brilliantly seasoned - a perfect ode to the classics. A special shoutout to their fries and pickles, which were absolutely divine! For all the beer lovers out there, they have a wonderful selection that doesn't disappoint. Great for Kids, but a Smaller Location Compared to Others I visited this Hat Creek Burger Company at The Domain recently. I noticed that this specific location is quite a bit smaller than their other branches, but fortunately, they still have a slide for the children to play on. I went during lunchtime on a weekday and was surprised to find that it wasn't crowded at all, which made for a very peaceful visit. I ordered the South Style Salad, and to be honest, it was just average. Considering the portion and the taste, the prices felt a bit on the higher side for what you get. However, the most important thing was that the kids had a great time and were happy with the play area. Overall, if you are looking for a quick spot where the kids can burn off some energy while you’re at The Domain, this works fine. Just keep in mind it’s a more compact space and the food is standard fast-casual fare.

Good & Quick place to get a bite for lunch. Only things i didnt like was most of the tables were not clean. I have to wipe my table and chair. The restaurant was warm. Could have been a bad day but just a bummer. Over cleanliness of the restaurant was not very high esp the drink counter had soda splattered on it. Not big issues but they should spend some time walking the restaurant. I do love the fries tho.

I love bringing my son here and being able to have a marg while playing with him at the playground! However, every time we’ve come here, it smells like weed as soon as you walk in (I’ve noticed it at least 3 times over the last couple of months). The employees demonstrate excellent customer service, but I’d prefer not to smell marijuana every time I’m inside, especially with my infant. I hope management can address this with their team!

Went with just my son and myself and was easily able to manage watching him and collecting our food. Service was quick, burgers were delicious, and my toddler had a blast. Win all around.

Food is good. Not sure why they removed half of the playground. It makes it a bit more boring for kids than it used to be. The silver camper is no longer there and it's just a big empty area. They should add more play equipment.

Location is great, can walk around the domain/rock rose area and walk to this store for food. Laid back atmosphere. Its ideal for sitting and chatting with friends. The food is not bad, but not spectacular either. Its run-of-the-mill burger choices with standard sides. The burgers are fairly priced (compared to shake shack and places like that). I cannot comment on the shakes and drinks because I've not had a chance to try them. For vegetarians, they have a couple of options. Customer service is great and staff are friendly. The place is clean and tidy.

I love that my girls can play here, and the outdoor setup is great. The staff are lovely, too. However, the prices are ridiculous. The margarita they offered at lunch was terrible. I couldn't even drink it. The food tastes good, but I think what you get for the price is silly.

I like the playground for my kids. Food is good to eat. The only reason I give it 4 out of 5 is that now they will not change the TV to games channel due to someone yelling or being rude over changing it. Sad, but that's life.

The burgers is delicious but is small. There are pet friendly. My dog was so happy playing with the childrens.

Not all Hat Creek locations are good, but this one is! Juicy fresh and hot burger, good fries, great tots. Nice eating space and friendly, helpful staff. Like all Hat Creeks, it’s got a nice menu with variety, and the fries are a little unusual: flavored with paprika and less greasy than most. This one has a play area for children

Really nice, clean, place! The playground is very clean and maintained. Food was good, they offer vegetarian choices and adult beverages! Our cashier seemed a bit rushed/rude and the wine "glass" was rather small. But nice place/atmosphere.

Ordered ahead. Food was decent and sealed when I went to pick it up but sauce was missing and didn't realize it till I got home. Luckily, it's Cajun fries and the nuggust were good enough without sauce. Would have loved to try all the sauces.

Really neat family place ! Burgers are fresh to order they also have a couple beers on tap as well. The main draw for this place is the great family atmosphere. They have a cool outdoor playground with outdoor seating so you can enjoy your food and let the kids play. They aren't gourmet burgers but still really good ones and I recommend this to anyone with kids looking for a chill place to enjoy while the kids play. Location is also great its in the middle of the town center there so you can walk around and shop after.

I had seen this burger place while walking or driving around the Domain. A gift coupon I received at an Austin FC game enticed me to finally try it. I tried the advertised Verde Burger. The presentation was quite a bit different than the ad (see pictures). It did have all the ingredients mentioned, though, hidden inside the bun. Taste was ok, not great. It was a little spicy, like advertised

After wanting to try this place for quite some time, I called an audible on the way to in n out. I have to say that the burgers are pretty good here, but I was pretty surprised by the price of burgers being almost $10 and the fries being almost $4. The burger was flavorful and had a good char too it which I wasn’t expecting by the way it looked. The fries are very flavorful because of their great seasoning. It would be even better if the fries were crispy vs the softer style that they are. Overall I’d say this place is worth a stop!

Crispy fries and solid burgers. The myriad of custom sauces made the meal. Slightly more expensive than I expected. Everything on the menu is a la carte, providing multiple ways to mix and match an order. Fast and very friendly service.

This location is in the domain. And parking absolutely sucks especially because of where they're located. There aren't actually any close parking spots to this location you have to park in the garage. And I really wish hat Creek would put items under a heat lamp especially if you do pick up it would really help. The reason for the three stars is cuz of the parking. It like it takes forever just to park

Good place if you have small kids that want to play on a playground. The menu is simple and burgers are pretty good. The fries are average. They have chicken options and also have pretty good shakes. They also have beer and wine. There's usually lots of families with small kids and the kids seem to like the playground. They also$1 beer night on Thursday which is really cool.

Family friendly environment. Great place to let the kids play while you get a quick bite to eat. I did not particularly care for the dogs sitting in an area where I eat. Dogs were barking at each other and shaking so there go all the loose dog hairs in the air.

mediocre at best. got the southwest burger, but this review likely applies to all burgers. patties were super dry and overdone. Felt like i was eating boiled ground beef with untoasted buns. Slushies and shakes were wayy too sweet. The small size for the shakes is about the size of 1 ice cream scoop. Only commenting on the portions to complain about the price. Only reason the prices seem remotely reasonable (for an offshoot burger place) is because the burgers are small. Maybe my expectations were too high for a place with a playground as their burgers cater to kids, which is the only cope I can hold for this place.

I am sorry the fried chicken sandwich was extremely salty and wasn't even good. Overall service and atmosphere is good. Y'all may want to consider wiping the play scape slides. There's a lot of greasy gooier stuff on them.

This was my first visit, and I ordered through the app. My order was ready exactly when the app said it would be. I got the Big Hat burger, fries, and a peanut butter chocolate shake. Regarding the fries, they use a seasoning blend rather than just plain salt, and they used too much of it on my fries. I would have preferred plain salt. The burger's seasoning seemed a little off, too, and the burger itself was smaller than expected. The shake was great, though. Overall, the food was good but not great, and the price is a little high for it not to be great.

If this was Drew Gressett’s vision he probably needs glasses. I came after work craving a burger because my usual spot doesn’t serve them during brunch or after 4. Maybe that’s on me for expecting the best from a burger place, but honestly I’ve had better quality food at downtown Austin’s Burger Bar for the same price. If you want good sauce I will say they do have incredible sauce here. The pepper sauce, the Hat sauce, was actually amazing and it helped cover up how dry, tough and cold the chicken sandwich was. The service was great, but the food was just sad and definitely not worth the price. The food tasted like it came straight off a Cisco truck. I still finished it but I did not walk out feeling fulfilled like their whole motto suggests. Probably won’t come back.

We stopped by for a bite and to watch the rest of the football game. Didn't know they closed at 930. I ordered a frozen margarita at 940. It was trash. I am not for sure why it tasted so bad, but I will never again. But we asked what time they closed, and she said 930. I was like, why didn't you say that before I ordered this margarita that I had to finish before I left. I was so annoyed. She was nice but not informative at all. Neither the cashier nor the manager. Wasted my money.

The food literally takes 40 minutes to get to you... The portions are tiny, Android dimension is incredibly expensive... Also I got nice upset stomach from it... I don't recommend this place at all.... Yuck 🤢

Worst location ever I hate that I have to even give it one star because Hat creek has always been good. My food was ready when I arrived but after looking at my food it was cold. When asking for fresh food the employee said that I could not get fresh food because I had an online order. The employee helping me and 2 other staff members agreed with him. I ordered my food on the road when I was 4 minutes away (already in the domain) so it wouldn’t be any way possible for it to be stale cold. This is my first time at the location and everything sounded like they didn’t want to help because it was 8:11pm and the location close at 9pm but I placed my order at 8:07:32pm. Very disappointed Especially because another location have given be cold fries by accident, I’m sure because when asking for fresh ones they had no problem fixing the problem

This was our first time eating here, We paid $8.86 for a double burger the tiniest ever, it was soggy, dry and flavourless, the veggie burger fell apart ,and 3.99 for the smallest portion and burnt sweet potato fries . Not again.

Waited 25 min, asked where my single burger was - said they were working on it - threatened to cancel and they said, “here it is.” There were burgers just sitting there with no one wrapping them. The burger has barely any bacon - what a waste!

I'm so sorry about this. I'm only giving this rating because of the sauces. I think the fries were left over from 3 days ago. I can't explain the bacon! I'm very disappointed with the peppers in the fries I received. We paid a lot of money for this menu and I didn't enjoy it even a little bit.

Pretty sure my wife and I both got food poisoning from this place. The burgers were flavorless, sloppy. and the tables were dirty and sticky. There were fries all over the playground where the kids are supposed to play. Would not recommend this place which is unfortunate because our little toddler loved running around while we drank a beer and had a burger. Also might be worth mentioning the place was completely dead… only 2 other customers came in while we were there for an hour. Based on the bad reviews, it all makes sense.

Well, looks like this is the last time I’m getting food from here. I just noticed they store the burger cheese next to a dirty, wet rag under the grill. Definitely not great. See picture attached. Add that to the lackluster service and zero effort to help guests, sticky tables, and unkept dining room, and it’s a no from me. And this was all on a SLOW Wednesday night! I know fast food can be sketchy, but this was over the line.
