Tip: Visit for lunch to avoid long waits and enjoy the tender beef brisket with a choice of sides. The coleslaw is a good choice to cut through the richness of the BBQ.

Opinions de Iron Works Barbecue Austin
Iron Works Barbecue did not disappoint. The ribs were not dry at all—perfectly cooked, falling off the bone while still retaining a good bite and texture, not mushy or overly soft. I also loved that they include free pickles. The acidity was a great touch and really helped cut through the richness and fattiness of the meat. Solid BBQ with great execution. Definitely worth a visit if you’re a ribs fan.
Had lunch at Iron Works BBQ in Austin and it did not disappoint! They serve truly authentic Texas BBQ – the brisket was tender, smoky, and packed with flavor. The portions were generous, and the sides hit the spot, but the real surprise was the cobbler – sweet, warm, and the perfect way to end the meal. Cozy atmosphere, friendly service, and food that speaks for itself. Definitely a must-try when in Austin!
Visited Iron Works hoping for an authentic Texas barbecue experience and I was not disappointed. The restaurant is an easy walk from the convention center if you're there for work, and the counter service made getting our food a relatively quick and easy process. The building itself has a wonderful rustic feel and appearance that isn't contrived, as it's actually in a historic iron works building; this definitely adds to the charm. Seating is plentiful and the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. I ordered a combination plated to try the pork ribs, brisket, and Beef rib. All of it was delicious but the beef ribs were exceptional and I'm still craving another bite a few weeks later. As my lone barbecue experience in Austin, I can't compare it to anything else in the city, but the quality combined with the conveniently walkable location, made it a perfect hit.
I loved it. Literally a 110 year old shack turned in to a BBQ restaurant for 45 years is brilliant. It's a historical landmark sitting in the middle of modern sky risers. Service was great and food was bomb 💣 I definitely recommend this place if you ever visit Austin TX . If you like BBQ you will not be disappointed.

Amazing ribs, fantastic sauce. Had them delivered from Austin to Houston via 2-day FedEx.
My briquet sandwich was delicious. staff was friendly. Casual spot with take out and dine in easy options. fast service.
Service was fast and friendly. The barbecue was amazing - Great smoke flavor and very pull apart tender.

The beef rib was cooked perfectly, and the brisket fell apart in my mouth, the beans have an awesome little kick to them too. I left satisfied
Shoutout to Stephanie at the order counter! Was our first time here last week & the beef ribs absolutely hit. Loved it. no wait too compared to the long lines at the overhyped bbq places here in …

The brisket is so good. Eat inside. This is what a BBQ restaurant should look like. Located near the lake downtown. I recommend the potato salad

I like the style and ambient. Good option to visit. Not my top 10 but high up there for sure. Convenient location, good service.
Had a fantastic lunch here and went with the Chicken Plate perfectly smoked, juicy, and full of flavor. The sides hit the spot, especially the slaw and corn. Service was friendly and fast, and the whole place has that authentic Austin BBQ charm. Great food, great vibe, definitely worth a stop!
Visited Iron Works BBQ during a recent trip to Austin. The historic building and rustic ambiance were inviting, and the location near the convention center made it convenient. Opted for the brisket and sausage plate; the brisket was tender with a decent smoke ring, while the sausage had a good snap but was a bit mild in flavor. Sides like the potato salad and beans were average. Prices felt a bit steep for the portion sizes, but overall, it was a satisfactory experience. Worth a visit if you’re nearby, but there might be better BBQ options in Austin.
This place has been serving BBQ since the early 70s. The building is old and has an even older history. I love that they have kept inside and out as original as possible. The service here was good with the staff being helpful and courteous throughout my visit. The food especially the brisket is tremendous. Sides were very good also. The only downside is the price has gone up and the value vs quantity ratio has dropped over the years. Overall great BBQ but pricy.
Texas style BBQ in a roadhouse setting. Seating both inside and outside (covered). No ac but air chillers and ceiling fans. You order at the first window and once food is ready pay at the cashier. Unlimited bread, kept warm for you. Brisket well done. The BBQ sauce is flavorful but not spicy. Mac and cheese had a great smoked flavour. Fairly good sized parking lot. Recommended.
I came for the beef ribs but they were out. Got the pork ribs and sausage and my goodness....:the rib probably rivals the best seasoned, moistest pork ribs I've ever had.

Too expensive for decent food, styrofoam plates, order at the counter, not homemade dessert

You go here for the food which was delicious - we shared the sampler plate as we had eaten already - the place itself is a little run down and the staff not the best, but who cares.
Friendly staff, food was good. Conveniently located walking distance to the convention center. The only draw back was it was really hot inside the restaurant during the time we were visiting.
A simple, no-nonsense expérience. You order, pay and go. The brisket and sausage were good- the ribs too fatty. The creamed corn was very nice.

Came here for lunch, right outside our hotel in Austin. Somewhat dieting, we split the Sampler Plate and it was mighty good! Sausage, brisket and ribs with excellent side. This joint it no frills,…
Cool looking spot with no lines and an old-timey atmosphere, however the bbq is nothing to write home about. Pork ribs were good but the beef rib was straight up tough to eat. Brisket was okay but not a whole lot of flavor compared to others in cen-tex.
The brisket was bone dry. Pulled pork was weird, kind of sour taste, tried a few bites but that was it. The cream corn and slaw were excellent. The service was good and the place looks like the old school BBQ joint. Really hope that my food was bad just because it was late in the day. But won’t be coming back for sure.
The staff is friendly and the location is very convenient. However, the food leaves a lot to be desired. I’ve visited 3 times now and each time the meats were on the dry side and lacked flavor. The sides were just okay. If you are hankering for BBQ, this will do the trick, but being in Austin, one of the greatest BBQ cities on earth, there are far better choices.
I think we came in too late. The bbq we had was quite dry, it was nothing special. I think this place is a bit overrated but the ambiance is nice. The queue was long as expected. The service was friendly and pleasant. Location was good. Ordered one sampler plate and two beers for $45, good for two.

Varied menu, but without the expected taste. sausage was disappointingly bland. Beef brisket was tender. Sides were standard.

The takeout order was less than acceptable bbq. The meat was over cooked, the beans were tasteless and the Mac and cheese had a hair in it. Customer service wise first the staff was behind the counter and didn’t really greet me. I was asked for my ID when I approached the staff. Then was questioned on what I ordered. I checked the order and the portions were very very small. I wouldn’t recommend this place.
The brisket was dry. The ribs were over cooked. The burnt ends were good. The peach cobbler was from a can. I was really disappointed because I was told it was the most popular. The pecan pie is gritty and contained alot of cinnamon.
Visited on a Friday night and was surprised the place wasn’t full for a BBQ restaurant. Unfortunately, the food explained why. The baked beans looked and tasted like they came straight out of a can. The bread was being taken right out of the plastic bag, which makes it obvious there’s no real effort in the food. The mac and cheese looked microwaved, honestly, Kraft’s version tastes better. And the meat was completely tasteless, which is the biggest disappointment for a BBQ spot. Save your time and money and go somewhere else. To the owners: please cook with love so it shows in the food. Very disappointed.
The staff is respectful! I wanted a 2 meat plate which don’t have you either get a 1 meat plate and add the other meat only how they serve it! Cool so I just got the brisket plate today! It is extremely dried out and I’m not even certain it’s brisket as it has a taste like wild game deer 🦌 meat type taste!! I would not recommend this place and will never go back
