Opinions de Jo's Coffee Austin
Jo’s is open early with breakfast tacos, good coffee, and some pastries. The tacos and breakfast sandwiches are basic quick bites, and I appreciate that they aren’t too big. The croissant was nice and buttery, but maybe not as crisp/flaky as expected - like it had been kept in a bag or case rather than a pastry shelf? Just guessing. Ate there three mornings in a row and liked the vibe.
Cool spot and my girlfriend absolutely loves it...therefore....it is the best place on the face of the earth. I do wish it was Jo's with an h....Joh's....cool right?.....Anyway, we can workshop that later...you gotta go, the staff is great and the vibe is chill and you won't be disappointed unless there's a line. At which point listen to a podcast. Or better yet try to start an impromptu Conga line. The choice is yours.
Just shopping on S Congress, we stopped for a snack. We got the last 2 carnitas tacos, and the server gave our dog some nice treats. Tacos were really good.
Jo’s Coffee is such a classic Austin stop, especially on South Congress. Great location, friendly service, and consistently good drinks. The Iced Turbo is definitely the must-try — strong, sweet, and super refreshing on a hot Austin day. The outdoor seating makes it a perfect spot to relax, people-watch, and soak in the SoCo vibes. Always a reliable place to start the morning or take a quick break while exploring the area.
Stayed at Hotel San Jose so we grabbed breakfast tacos three mornings. They were fine. Pleasant service, decent price, and a little people-watching.
We went here for breakfast, small but eclectic menu. I had an egg white burrito with peppers onion and I think Kale, my wife had a sourdough fried egg and bacon and cheese sandwich. The coffee and service was great. Very cool vibes.
We stopped here after we landed in town while waiting on our hotel to be ready for us. Did not disappoint. I got the black cold brew and the wife got the turbo drink. Hers was a better bet. And the breakfast taco was good, sauce was best! You could put that green sauce on almost anything and I’d tough it out.
I didn't like cold coffee until I reluctantly had a turbo from Jo's. It was amazing. So refreshing, sweet, and delicious. \n\nThis is a must for me the next time I'm in Austin.

Excellent coffee, food, vibe and service. A favorite spot I enjoy when I am visiting.
Delish coffee! Someone suggested coming to Jo's for great coffee and good music. Glad that I did!
I’m not gonna lie. I consider myself a purest when it comes to expresso. And while all places do the job it’s more of me just drinking it down for the sake of energy. Accepting subpar coffee just bec…

Jo's coffee has delicious and flavorful coffee and much more. I have been happy with all of the orders that I have made from here.

Breakfast Migas taco was very tasty. I added the sauces. We also took the infamous photo on the side of the building while waiting in line. Worth the visit and recommendations.

Great tacos and iced Turbo!!! We thoroughly enjoyed sitting outside and people/dog watching while eating our tacos. The iced Turbo was magical.
Was happy there was parking in the hotel parking lot, in a Tuesday morning plenty of parking available for me. Service was quick, and honestly curt but that’s fine. We don’t have to be besties. Got the turbo, is was good, and again came out QUICK. Easily found seating for just me and a plug for my laptop. It was quiet, sans barking dogs (on the owners, not Jos) typical prices $7-9 depending on the tip you leave. Cute spot, seems like a popular local stop
We came here to visit since it’s listed as one of the highlights of the downtown area. We weren’t disappointed, but definitely underwhelmed! The coffee is good, but it is severely overpriced and the building/surrounding outdoor spots are really gross and messy. Public bathrooms are available but they are more gross than a gas station. Would recommend another coffee shop if you come to visit, only thing worth seeing is the famous “I love you so much” wall.
The soft tacos are small and soggy. The tortillas were really mushy and frankly, not tasty. Really not worth the price. But the atmosphere is fun! Come here for the coffee, but definitely stay away…

Stopped by on our way through town. The drinks were very fairly priced, and we enjoyed the variations of the Arnold Palmer immensely! The line moved pretty quickly and the decor was nice.
I came like a couple minutes before close and bought a drink. I asked if they had a bathroom and the guy said it’s closed because they were closing…they wouldn’t even open it for me for a quick sec…
The food and drinks are as good as ever, but the service has soured quite a bit. When I was waiting for my order, I was unclear as to whether one of the drinks in the window was mine. When I asked the woman making the drinks to clarify, she replied with utter vitriol. Like, I'm sorry you're working at a coffee shop at 45; don't take it out on me.
We stayed in Austin for the weekend and walked to Jo’s from our BNB. There was already a line at 10 am but it went quickly. The tacos were all pre-made and tasted bland but the coffee was nice, strong and hot. There were plenty of seating and it seemed like people ate and left. No one except for a couple hung around and enjoyed the gorgeous Austin weather. There are so many taco joints to choose from so I wouldn’t go back.

Consistent next-level rude service. I’m sure it’s not all of the baristas, but the Tuesday morning crew is really unkind. Tried to kill them with kindness today with a generous tip, but their frowns wouldn’t budge. If you value photos with the mural, this might be the place for you. If you value service, kindness, patience, walk up the hill.
Okay coffee shop. Slow line. Great staff and cool area. I came here for about 3 years every Sunday morning, but the two steppers started taking over by aggressively moving all the tables so they could spin around. I'd avoid on the weekends.
Went for La La's coffee, didn't want to wait in line so walked over to Jo's. lady who took my order seemed very annoyed that I was there and was quite rude. Placed my order, Asked me "big or small"…
Fraud hotspot, tourists be careful\n\nToday (2023-07-11) @ 12:33 I purchased an Iced Turbo. As a former resident of 78704 I did this somewhat frequently.\n\nWhile waiting for the 'barista' to arriv…
Got in line at 6;55 looking at the menu on the side of the building. Rude hippie running the joint shut the front gate on us. Asked him about and he was a total jerk. Said we were looking up the road…
Trash gas station tacos for 7 dollars each. Actually they are worse than gas station tacos. Who knows how long those jail tacos have been sitting in that drawer. Tortillas was all soggy. Water …
As someone who works on South Congress, I know firsthand how busy it gets and how important great customer service is especially with so many tourists coming through. Unfortunately, that’s not what I received today. One specific woman with long blonde hair working the counter had an attitude that was completely uncalled for. She was rude, dismissive, and acted like helping customers was an inconvenience. Seemed like she didn’t want to be there and she definitely didn’t want us there. It left a really bad impression, and honestly, it shouldn’t be happening at a place as well-known as Jo’s.I definitely won’t be returning and we’ll go to any other coffee shop on Congress.
The barista (whose name I didn't catch, he was bald and had tattoos on his arm) was extremely short with me and provided some of the worst customer service I have ever experienced. My friend, whom I came with, got her coffee a little while before me, and told me when she sat down, "The barista was really short with me... that was weird." When I went up there myself to order, I asked for a flapjack cold brew, but asked him if it was sweet, and he told me, "I can make it less sweet." So I said, "Okay, great, can you add a good amount of milk to it too?" he didn't even acknowledge me and rang it up. The coffee came out a terrible, awful color, and I took a sip, and it was the sweetest, most syrupy coffee I have ever tasted. It was so, so terrible. There was practically no milk added, and it was almost the exact opposite of what I requested. People have different tastes, so I thought maybe this was just a misunderstanding, I'll see if he can make me something else. I told him I really didn't like the coffee and asked if he could make me something else, and he was so short with me. I tried handing him my old coffee, and in the rudest tone, he said, "I don't want that... throw it away". I requested just a regular latte with honey, but he didn't acknowledge the honey when I said it. Keep in mind, it is not busy, and I was one of the only people ordering at this time. He placed a coffee out to the window, and I thought it was mine and reached for it, and he goes "that ain't yours, buddy", in a super condescending tone. Then my latte came out, and again, it was not what I asked for. He didn't add any honey, and overall was just not great. I even tipped him, too. Extremely underwhelming service and product, I cannot say I will be coming back here again, nor will I be recommending anyone who visits to come here either.
Worst customer service I’ve had in austin, the girl taking my order was very upset clearly that I interrupted her chatting session by walking up to order during business hours. She was very rude and short with me. I ordered the pumpkin pie latte and it was ready quicker than you can even make espresso, I thought surely this isn’t mine someone must’ve ordered the same thing as me before me. Nope, it was mine. I don’t know if this place puts espresso in their lattes typically but I received pumpkin flavored milk. Will never be returning
