Amazing food. Staff is friendly and food comes out fast. Order at the counter and find a seat. Don’t forget the sauces in the fridge up front. The green one is to die for. Great find and I go as often as I can for breakfast!

These tacos are some of the best I’ve ever had! We tried Alambre, turkey & pork mole, pastor, mushroom, and fried avocado tacos. The mushroom taco was even better with their salsa verde. The horchata was also perfect. No doubt about it—this is our go-to taco spot in Austin now!

First time there. Service was so friendly. Nice and clean eating area. There are not a lot of tables, but we went for lunch and still were able to sit. The lunch special is a great price because it includes 2 tacos, tea and rice and beans. They also have daily evenings specials and will definitely try that out another time.

Wow! Clean, nice and tasty. My wife got some kind of ham and cheese taco while I had a Cubano torta breakfast thing. Delicious. Tacos are a norm in Austin, but looking at the menu here you quickly see they stand apart from the rest--we have to come back just to test out more unique items. Can't wait!

Amazing Tacos!! The salsas that they give with the tacos are so good! Quick service. The server was very nice and helped me decide my order. I always get confused if there are too many options. We would definitely visit again! They might have vegan options too but I only tried vegetarian when we went.

Nice Mexican taco house located in South Lamar. Good hospitality from staff while noting the orders and the service is very quick. Ambience within the store is nice while dining-in. Wide parking space available with wheelchair accessible parking infront of the restaurant. #HappyDining

Not really sure what kind of food it was, looking for a different experience to try. Definitely pleased with the food, atmosphere!! My wife is a so called food critic. And has to critique everything especially Mexican food. So she spent most of lunch trying to figure pit where they where from. Came to find out its a south American spot, not traditional Mexican, but still good and would recommend this to anyone that asked. Thanks

Quick, cheap tacos. We got in just before the rush on a Saturday morning. The food was good but the order was wrong which seems to be very common at all of these types of taco joints in Austin. It’s difficult to get a breakfast taco without eggs on it anywhere, even if you’re very specific about your request. The tacos are very good. I had the chorizo. We were also impressed with the chips and queso.

Tasty breakfast tacos with fresh ingredients, good salsas, and reasonable prices. Service is always good and the place is clean. The only downside, in my opinion, is their flour tortillas are always served cold and seemingly right out of the store-bought bag. I wish they'd toss them on the grill for a few to toast them up to turn on the flavor and improve the experience.

This place has delicious tacos but I wouldn’t say they are traditional Mexican tacos. I am from CA and these tacos were very different but delicious. Their salsa is very good too. I wish I could buy a bottle of their green salsa. I got chicken and a breakfast taco and I preferred the breakfast taco. It was fabulous!! I would eat here again if I was in town.

Papalote is a great little place for interior style Mexican food with a variety of street style tacos. The dining area was recently remodeled and expanded, with a fresh clean design and more tables. I had the Alambres grilled steak tacos on this visit, which were very tasty. They have a green and red sauce both good, however I preferred the green sauce. After three of the small street style tacos the lingering flavors left me wanting more, but there was no room left in the stomach! Two tacos will most likely be plenty to satiate your hunger. I should also mention they have decent breakfast tacos. I recommend giving this place a shot next time you are in the South Lamar area - a great quick stop for that late weekend brunch too.

For A Few Bites More

Extensive menu of tacos not found elsewhere. Outside seating in extensive but value of it is killed because of traffic outside. Overall tacos are good but mild on flavor. Salsas in the fridge are a must. We prefer the red to the verde. Always enjoy trying something new here. The pipián Is one of our favorites from this menu.

Pretty boring breakfast tacos if I’m being honest. The eggs were good, but the sausage was just some sliced up wanna be jimmy dean breakfast links that I could have had at my hotels crappy continental breakfast. They didn’t even look grilled- steamed maybe? Unappetizing. The tortillas were generic. These tacos are on par with taco deli. I will come back for lunch and try some other menu options. Portion size is small for the price, but what I expect from Austin.

The staff was super nice, which made the experience better, but the food didn’t hit for me. I ordered carnitas tacos and they didn’t look or taste like carnitas—more like cold pork chops. The flour tortillas also seemed store-bought rather than homemade. I wanted to love it, but it just wasn’t my favorite.

Visited after seeing all the good reviews but had a pretty disappointing experience. Almost all of the menu has meat with no option of substitution. All menu items are either take it as is or leave it. Didn’t see any vegetarian options at all after scouring the menu for 15 mins and you can’t make changes to any dishes. Server was visibly annoyed when we asked if substitutions can be done. Prices are decent. Atmosphere is nothing worth mentioning, taco food trucks have more crowd on weekends than this place. Parking can be tricky and gets full pretty quickly. Additional shared parking available in the back.
