Really Enjoyed their Banh Mi!!! The bread is hot crispy, and crunchy not tough or hard that made biting difficult. Even the tofu inside BanhMi, I could tell it’s freshly hot, not warm up hot. Favorite spot for BanhMi so far!! Tried Sweet Gruel for the first time, it’s refreshing. Overall I enjoy my experience here, the food, the service, the atmosphere. Went in during lunch time, the place is packed, but quickly served. The food arrived within 5min after order!!! This fast!!
first time here after numerous friends’ recommendations. the broth was just right. beef was tender. service was fast and easy. ‘nough said
Come in and they seated us quickly. Gave us bottled watch and utensils while we looked at menu. Got our order quickly. Very good pho, spring rolls and chicken wings. Great customer service. Very nice people. Will be back the next time I visit.
Beat pho in Austin. Amazing clear and flavorful broth. It does not need Sriracha or hosin (recommended without). Their Vietnamese meatballs are also my favorite. Another plus is the connected boba tea shop that's pretty great. So easy to grab one for your meal or after
If you enjoy Vietnamese food this is the best place to go to for Pho soup with beef brisket it comes with noodles it's made in a beef bone broth soup you add bean sprouts & basil to add into your soup. You determine how spicy you want your food there are 3 sauces you can add to flavor you soup the hoisin sauce , sirachi sauce, spicy red sauce with jalapeno seeds, their shrimp spring rolls are delicious with peanut mixed with hoisin sauce and you have to get a Vietnamese coffee
Heard about this place from a friend and my only regret is not trying it sooner. Our new favorite pho spot! The service was very quick and everyone was friendly. The food is bomb!
Showed up at 7pm on a Friday. It was very crowded but only waited a few minutes! Fast, nice service. The Pho broth was amazing and the fried rice was awesome. Best I’ve had in Austin!
It's definitely worth of waiting for Pho here. I'm from NJ. I have tried many Vietnamese restaurants. This one is on top one or two I've ever had. The only thing to watch out is there was a long line of waiting to be sit in. I think weekdays might be a better time to enjoy. Bahn mi is also very tasty. I bet this restaurant get to be one of the local Vietnamese best choice... Highly recommended....
Not sure why I haven’t rated this place yet because I have been here so very many times. It is probably my favorite pho place in town. It’s just so clean. The broth is so clean. It just makes you not feel too bad after you eat this. Its always hot and fresh and fast when it comes out. So very fast lol They are so busy for a reason. Today is no exception. It was so busy during lunch hour on a Saturday. There was a lot of people and a huge line outside. We had to put our names down and it took a good not too long 15 minutes or so and we almost had to share a table, but they were gracious enough to give us our own table if we waited a little longer. We tried the wings for the first time because sometimes it’s out. It’s a little steep for six wings for 9.50 but it was fried perfectly well and delicious. Very tasty with a lot of fish sauce. My usual combo was perfect. I love how they give you a lot of different cuts of meat and meatballs and lots of noodles. Well worth the large. My friend got the tofu pho and all the times we’ve come everyone has gotten different items. We even tried the banh mi one time and it was delicious as well. I see they have rice plates now. Slowly expanding their menu. So smart! This place has been consistent. It’s definitely my go to place. I tell everyone about if they want a good pho place. They don’t open all the time though so always check the hours. They don’t need to. They can afford to close half the week because of so many people coming all the time. So happy for them. Happy it’s not too far from where we live. It’s kind of fun that it’s connected to Hong Kong tea next-door. Have yet to really love their drinks there. I’ve tried multiple, but it’s just fun that is connected and you can hop right on over. Very smart as well. Worth the visit if you haven’t tried a good pho up north.
This is my new favorite Pho spot. A friend brought me here and the broth is better than anywhere I’ve gone before. The broth is rich and flavorful, so much so that I was not even compelled to use sauces with my soup. I ordered Pho Tai Gan (eye round steak and tendon) and the mung bean rangoons. The rangoons were a bit bland but I wasn’t sure what to expect as I haven’t had them with mung bean before. The vibe inside the restaurant was bright and clean. 10/10 recommend!
Reallllly good pho and meat. Like, melt in your mouth. Broth had great flavor, and omg that coconut water is 🤤 very yummy too. Service was good and fast, I loved the tea place next door as well. I would come back and get pho here for sureee.
This is the best pho in Austin. Originally from the CA bay area, for a long time we were not impressed by pho offering and often resorted to making it at home. But with Pho phong Luu, we can satisfyour craving!! The pho is consistently good, we go there often and it's always so good. We usually also order the chicking wings with nuoc mam, add a side of bread to dip with the sauce. Really delicious! Service is quick and always responsive. The opening hours are limited, so make sure to check their schedule.
I grew up in Houston, which has a large Vietnamese population. Suffice to say, I’ve had a lot of pho in my life which has raised my standards for Vietnamese food. This little family run joint is able to hold its own in comparison to all of the greatest pho I’ve had in Houston! I got the pho tai. The broth was flavorful, well balanced, and light. The meat was tender and not overly beefy. I can tell the food here is made with lots of love. A new comfort food spot for me!
Best pho in Austin! I am so happy I found this place! I’ve been in Austin for 3 years and have been looking for the best pho… THIS IS IT! The broth was absolutely incredible! I was blown away! The ingredients were fresh and very good. The service was great, I was seated right away and the food came out fast. Absolutely 10 out of 10! I’ll be back!
One of the better Vietnamese restaurants in the Austin area with great food! Definitely recommend getting the grilled pork spring rolls, crispy chicken with fish sauce, and combo pho! Portions are generous considering the prices. Even though we arrived during the lunch rush, I loved how they were able to get us seated pretty fast! They were very efficient with the queue— we signed in at the entrance, the host had us wait at their next door boba spot, we got a drink and was seated within 15-20 min considering how packed they were that day! The food came out within a reasonable time after placing our orders! Bathrooms are also clean! I will most likely return the next time I’m in the area ☺️
Rating: 3.8/5 [dine in] We came on a Friday night and were seated right away. Service was pretty fast, and they provide water bottles. A09 Garlic Fish Sauce Wings ($9.50): The menu said 5 to 6 wings, but I think we got 7. The sauce was good, but the wings were a bit dry. BM2 Banh Mi Dac Biet / Special Vietnamese Sandwich ($8.50): Yum, fresh soft bread and overall delicious. The flavors were a bit homogeneous, and I wish the pate and mayo stood out more. P09 Combination Pho ($15.50 Regular): The broth was very light and didn't taste like the beef bones were simmered long enough for the flavors to come through. It tasted better after adding hoisin sauce and Sriracha. The broth-to-noodle ratio was also off; there was more a lot more broth than noodles.
This place is the kind of spot that turns a simple craving into a full-on pho obsession, and it all starts with the large combo pho. The bowl shows up absolutely massive and steaming like it’s personally here to solve your problems, loaded with tender slices of beef, brisket, meatballs, and all the good stuff you actually want in a combo without any filler. The broth hits just right, rich, deeply savory, and perfectly balanced so every slurp feels comforting and satisfying at the same time. The noodles have great texture, the herbs and lime add that fresh pop that wakes everything up, and before you know it you’re fully locked in and eating slower just to make it last. It’s cozy, filling, and borderline heroic in portion size, big enough to share if you’re feeling generous, but realistically you won’t be. You leave full, happy, and possibly wearing a little broth mustache you’re not even mad about. Come hungry and commit, because the large combo pho at Phở Phong Lưu is a serious bowl that demands respect.
Lovely pho! We did come at what felt like the busiest time for this place. It was packed but the servers are hard working turning over tables and getting people fed. I was a bit overwhelmed at the rushed feeling initially but I appreciate how hard they’re working to get everyone in. They did split our table with another couple, which would be fine however we had to share the commonly used condiments. Unfortunately, our table guests might not have realized and kept them close by where we could not reach and felt uncomfortable asking. We had to sneak another bottle from another table. A quick fix would just be to supply more condiments at the larger tables! I must say this is the first place in ATX I’ve had chicken pho where the chicken was not severely dry! By the time we ordered, chicken broth was sold out but they subbed in beef broth. Still a great bowl of pho. Glad to see this place getting a lot of business and I’m excited to come back (at a less busy time hopefully lol).
In a desperate bid to find a pho restaurant that compares to ramen (one of us prefers pho to ramen, the other thinks that’s blasphemy), we came across Pho Phong Luu, a Vietnamese restaurant serving up hefty portions in an otherwise shrinkflation based economy. One of the first things that stands out is that the restaurant is clean and compared to a lot of other pho places nearby it feels far better run and cared for. We were seated quick, ordered just as fast, and served even faster. The restaurant also offers boba to be delivered from the next door shop right to your table which was pretty cool. The menu offers a diverse group of meats for the pho alongside bahn mi sandwiches and spring rolls. One thing we will note is that the prices here are waaaaaaay higher than any other places we’ve seen in Austin, even higher than some we’ve seen in California. We understand small businesses need to charge a bit more sometimes due to overhead but this was just too much for the food they’re offering. We ordered the brisket pho, eye round steak, brisket, and meatball pho, and the pork and shrimp egg rolls. We’ll break the pho down a bit more since it has a few layers: the meat was great, especially the brisket. The pho broth was way too sweet and honestly lacked a good amount of the flavor you would expect it to have. The noodles were very good, best part of it alongside the brisket. We were a bit disappointed as a lot of people said this was the best pho in Austin but to us this was just very average pho you could find anywhere. As for the egg rolls, they were okay. The pork and shrimp mix was a bit bland but the wrapping of the egg roll itself was a perfect and crunchy golden brown. Overall, our experience at Pho Phong was nothing special or different from other pho we’ve had around. I don’t want to dismay anyone from coming in and trying the restaurant, as we believe you really do have to taste something yourself to have perspective, but we don’t recommend Pho Phong Lou due to its high price point and what we felt was average food. If you want to satisfy your pho tooth do it somewhere your dollar stretches a bit further.
Cross contamination!!! There were multiple pieces of pork (3 or 4) in my vegetable fried rice. Would be a major issue for a vegetarian. And the portion was small for the price. Poorly fried tofu in the tofu banh mi and the tofu spring rolls. The banh mi bread was ok but overly toasted so the ends were like croutons and there was not much filling for the amount of bread. The grease from the tofu made the bread soggy inside and it tasted mostly like the oil it was fried in. I think the oil wasn’t hot enough when they fried it. The spring rolls had the same issue - the tofu was fried badly so it was super oily and tasted mostly like grease. The peanut sauce with the spring rolls didn’t taste very good. Super disappointing given the high reviews. I didn’t try the pho so maybe that’s a different story.
