Ruth’s Chris of Austin was truly an experience, and I’d love to share why. Our server, Katelyn, was one of a kind. She walked us through the different steak cuts with confidence and clarity, even recommending the best knives to use and explaining why. Once she found out we were celebrating our anniversary, she offered us a complimentary glass of champagne—such a thoughtful touch. We ordered the porterhouse, a filet, mushrooms, and the lobster mac. Everything was spot-on. The food was served on warm plates to keep it hot throughout the meal, and the sides were both delicious and shareable. We even had enough to take home. The atmosphere was clean, welcoming, and elegant. A special shout-out to the valet attendant who was working hard solo—he was hustling and still had a great attitude. The GM, Michael, stood out as well. He wasn’t just managing from the sidelines—he was on the floor, carrying food, water, and checking in on tables. That kind of leadership shows. I was honestly nervous after reading all the glowing reviews, but now I get it—they’re legit. I think I’ve found my new go-to spot.

I visited this place after valentine's day with my date.. so once I arrived a little bit after 8pm, I checked in with the hosts, they were actually welcoming, except one of them im not sure if she was the host manager but asked me if I smoked a cigarette before I came in, 😳 I was 😲 shocked and offended by her question, because I don't smoke! I told her someone was smoking by the door once we entered. I shrugged the question off and they took us to our seat. The wait time was about 5 to 10 minutes. They sat us down at a section and AC was blowing cold air directly on me, I asked the host if we could be moved but she didn't accommodate my request. I spoke the server Devon, he went beyond and above and found us another table. Devon customer service skills was very exceptional 👏 and he was the only reason why we stayed. The manager on duty that was walking around checking on everyone, she had a great personality and great customer service skills. I order the salmon dish with mash potatoes. The food was ok, mash potatoes was a little soft. There is no parking lot on site, so you would have to park at a near by garage to access this location.

I’ve always heard great things about Ruth Chris- so we decide to go while in town and celebrate a birthday. The restaurant was really nice, and clean. The staff were super helpful, and kind. You’re paying for the experience and I feel like it was overall a great dining experience. The food it self was yummy- my steak was cooked a little more done then I would have liked (it was medium instead of Medium Rare) and the side dishes were a little cold (creamed spinach, garlic mashed potatoes). But overall it was yummy.

Ruth Chris is our go to steak house for a special occasion. Last night was the only time they missed the mark. We had a 5:30 reservation on a Sunday night. As usual, the service was outstanding although this time the servers put the wrong dishes in front of the diners. Not a big deal but missed the mark. When ordering, I was so disappointed when our waitress told me all the items they were out of including my first two choices of beef. Since we come for the steak I would have left and returned another night, but we had a guest with us. I ordered my steak medium and it arrived medium rare. I didn't sent it back because I'm fine with medium rare. We felt the creamed spinach was not as hot as it has been in the past, but warm enough not to send back. Overall, unlike other visits, we didn't feel the experience was worth the price we paid.

Overall, I found this place to be okay. This was my first time coming here and honestly I expected more. We ended up sending the lobster Mac and cheese back due to its lack of flavor. The mashed potatoes and creamed spinach also lacked flavor, but I just added salt and pepper and ate them. The steak was good, but there was nothing special about it. The lobster was the best part of the meal. It was seasoned and cooked to perfection. I took advantage of a 3 course special they were having, so I paid around $80. I was satisfied with the price, but like I said before, I was dissatisfied with the quality of food. I felt the food could have used more flavor all the way around. Our server was very nice and accommodating. Customer service here is really good. I would be interested in visiting a location in Houston before I just cancel this place all together.

My visit to Ruth’s Chris in Austin this past Friday (2/13) was a significant disappointment. We expect a certain standard from this brand, but the experience was lackluster from start to finish. The service was notably slow, with long gaps in pacing that made the evening feel neglected rather than relaxed. ​Most frustratingly, my steak arrived significantly overcooked. When you’re paying for a premium cut, the preparation needs to be precise, and this fell well short of the mark. I don't have my physical receipt on hand, but our party was there Friday night and our reservation should be easy to locate in your system. I’m hoping the management team can reach out to make this right, as this experience was simply not up to the Ruth’s Chris reputation.

The experience was disappointing. The steak came out burned and overcooked. The lobster mac and cheese tasted watered down, with no real cheese flavor or seasoning. We also received the wrong drinks, and it took about 45 minutes — until the food arrived — to get the correct ones. When the replacement drink finally came, it was very strong and not sweet like described. Overall, the food quality and service did not meet expectations for a steakhouse.

Food was decent enough. Service was okay. I didn’t care for the dated environment, which yielded a drab ambiance. I could not even stage my food for the obligatory social media post because the lighting was so poor. Valet was also a complete circus. If I’m paying a premium, I want to be catered to in all aspects. Perhaps the servers and valet can coordinate when guests are nearing the completion of their meal so that they do not have to wait 30+ minutes in the cold awaiting their vehicle.

I cannot fathom how Ruths Chris gets so many glowing reviews. I suppose most people have no idea what an upscale dining experience should be. I will simply say that it's not worth your time or money. Everything was executed at a basic level (unimpressive) and the food was not up to expectation considering reputation and cost. Let's just say that the ribeye was cooked med rare but chewy (even the loin) and the sides were poorly seasoned. We where seated late to our reserved table (anniversary), which was near the crowd of people, stacked by the front door waiting to be seated. All that aside, the cuisine is poor quality and over-hyped. 3 out of 10, do not recommend. I am only impressed by how disappointing the experience was.

Very disappointing experience. The sides (mac and cheese and baked potato) were under-seasoned and not enjoyable. Also, the valet service was extremely rude and made us wait far too long. We also mentioned it was a birthday dinner, but there was no acknowledgment at all. Definitely not the level of service or quality we expected for a special occasion.
