Opinions de Scholz Garten Austin
Sholz Garten is our go-to spot before concerts at the Moody Center, and it never disappoints. It’s the perfect place to meet up with friends and kick off the night. The bratwurst are always great, the pretzels are solid, and the food comes out quickly — which is exactly what you want when you’re trying to make it to a show on time. And let’s be honest… the beer is a heck of a lot cheaper than buying it inside the Moody Center. It’s an easy walk to the venue, and there’s always a fun, lively crowd getting ready for the concert. If you’re heading to a show, this is the perfect pre-concert stop.
Insane. So good. That pretzel is the stuff of legends. Ashley was our server - he took CARE of us. Tell him it's your first time ordering the pretzel and he might give you a performance. Jagerschnitzel was awesome as well as the wurst board. Got the currywurst and liked it but wouldn't order again. Other than that, nothing but good things to say. Indoor seating and outdoor seating with misting fans!
The quintessential place to gather before any Longhorn sporting event. It's a traditional and an institution. Scholtz's & Horns! 🤘
Scholz Garten is one of a dwindling number of restaurants that has survived since I arrived in Austin in 1971. It can get pretty rowdy but we arrived at mid-morning during a week day. Only two tables were occupied so my wife, son, and we enjoyed the garten as well as the excellent food and draft German beer. Our server was very attentive and friendly.
Great hangover cure after hitting up downtown Austin on New Years Eve. They had the soccer game on. Service was excellent (ask for Katarina...hope I spelled that right). Food was about as close to authentic style German as I've found anywhere in the US. Also have sandwiches, burgers and some Texas style sausages as well. All in all, a great spot away from the hustle and bustle of 6th street.
Hidden gem in the heart if Downtown Austin. The place has a nice ambience, separate tables, spacious and with good music. You can relax with your friends and have a nice time while enjoying some authentic german beers and food. The food is awesome, if you get the giant pretzel be sure to get also the garlic butter, they go really well together. Portions are generous, a single german wurst board is more than enough after some appetizers. They do sell out of some of them quite fast, since they’re so good! You can also make your own board, which is pretty awesome, we tried the jackalope, schweinewurst and the jalapeño and cheese venison wurst; even though they were all good, the jackalope (smoked rabbit, antelope and pork sausage) was our favorite. Beer selection is also amazing, you can taste several german beers in 16 or 32 oz, and also some local draft beers and other liquors. I prefer the 16 oz version so you get to try more different ones. As a fun fact, this is the oldest operating business in Texas and also one of the oldest continuous operating bowling centers in the United States, definitely a place you must visit if you’re in Austin.
Finally tried this place after watching videos and reviews on them. Best German food I have tried in Texas so far. Fredericksburg German restaurant aren’t as good as compared to Scholz. Must try. All of the food was good from the pretzels to Ruben sandwich. The service was lacking. They forgot our beers until we asked for them. Didn’t get checked on during the meal. Place is cool and there was parking up front.
Very German. I usually quickly OD on sausage after taste (nitrates?), but I had no problem with these. The bread was fantastic. Nice to have 3 different mustards. Update: the Green Goddess salad w salmon was soo good! I went for the salad because my stomach was recuperating from previous day's dinner. I was very pleasantly surprised how good it was with thin slices of some types of radishes. Delicious!
My wife and I have lived in Germany for many years, and we go back regularly and enjoy the food there. So when we visit a German restaurant in the U.S., we're skeptical, because we've encountered our share of disappointments. With Scholz Garten, we were pleasantly surprised. Great selection of beers, and we very much enjoyed our food: Sauerkraut balls as an appetizer, and Jägerschnitzel and Beef Tips and Spätzle as the main course, and both came with Rotkohl (red cabbage) that was just right. Next time we're in Austin, we will be back and try other items on the menu.
I was recently in town for a wedding and had the pleasure of visiting Scholz Garten. Unfortunately, we were there during a UT basketball game day and there was a limited menu. However, the food we did order was delicious. The pretzels were soft, light and perfectly salted. The brat and sauerkraut were the perfect combo and the bun was soft and delicious. The pilsner and kolsch beers were quite delicious too. The staff was friendly. This restaurant is a bit off the beaten path, behind the capitol, but well worth the visit.
Good food here! Typically we only go to Scholz for drinks or attend UT events (and order drinks), but we decided to meet friends up for lunch on a weekend. I ordered the Chopped beef sammy with a side salad. Wow, that was a good burger and the side salad came out in a huge portion size. Even though the day was sunny and approaching 100 degrees, we sat out on the patio. The misting fans and tent kept us cool and out of the sun. Staff was friendly and provided good service. I'm ordering more than drinks next time I'm here.
I found Scholz while looking up place to eat at while in Austin. Right off the bat my server Marry greeted me with a Happy Friendly style. Ive never been to Austin and she was super helpful with all my questions about the area. The food and service is excellent! Very fast n fresh. I Definitely recommend it!
I was really excited to come here and get some German food at the oldest bar in Texas. Unfortunately the hours posted online were incorrect and we ended up arriving right at closing time. They were nice enough to let us order a couple giant Bavarian pretzels to go that were amazingly delicious. It smelled so good inside, I will definitely try again next time I'm in Austin.
If you take a good look at the map of restaurants in this area, you will notice that this one stands apart from the big group to the west. It stands bold and alone, as a hole-in-the-wall place off San-Jacinto. That's the first way to tell this place is good. The building is aesthetic, and stepping inside, the vibe hits just right. They had a lot of options on their menu, someday I may update this review with my thoughts on different dishes, but on my visit I had the German Wurst Board. The presentation was great, as were the bratwursts (and the pretzel rolls!) themselves. The portions are filling, the sweet tea was right where I like it, and the server I had was hilarious. I loved the place, will be back to try more things. Oh, and the prices are reasonable.
I was visiting my friend in the intensive care unit at Dell Seton because he was in a horrible accident. I had a break while he was taking a nap and I swung by the bar to get a quick bite of food. The bartender I believe his name is Jake was absolutely incredible. He was super kind made a few appropriate lighthearted jokes and then comped my meal. It meant more to me than he’ll ever know. Thank you.
We went to this German specialty restaurant near the Capitol building, with family and had a great time. This was not busy at this time. Great German decorations thru out the place, and a very inviting outdoor patio, where I heard gets crowded with large tailgate parties. We had a huge pretzel for an appetizer as big as your head. I got the wienerschnitzel which was good, and a favorite of mine, and a German beer. They closed oddly early that night, so we did not get to stay as long as we would have liked.
Live oak hefe is a great tasting diminutive heffe. Smooth easy and casual. Meanwhile helles is a great american helles, nothing else needs to be said Pastrami sammy wow, i love fatty meats that are smoked. Beef tips with spatzel was so good, stroganoff flavors and amazing pasta.
This is my favorite place to eat in Austin because everything on the menu is delicious! The chicken sandwich truly is incredible. The giant pretzel is a must-order and really does serve 3-4 people. The waffle fries are crispy and great. This place has such friendly staff and great local vibes (since the 1860s)! Also, the pricing is great and everything is affordable. I can’t recommend any place more than this one! Thank you for the best times, Scholz Garten!
Great selection of beers, good food, super service. I found this German styled bier garten by accident and I do not regret it at all. You can choose from so many buyers, drinks ans they also serve German styled food such as Pretzels with beer cheese, sausages. They also sell nachos and so on. Great place for sitting outside or inside.
Was in town and asked complete strangers for local recommendations and was steered here. Boy did that gamble pay off. Probably the best sausage plate I’ve had. And if that wasn’t enough also had the biggest and best pretzel I’ve ever had. Great service and the bartenders were funny and chill. Will definitely come back if I’m in town again.
Always has and will always be a great spot for any type of experience. Singles, doubles, even familias as well. Love the environment and energy the vibe provides as well as the delicious food. Many, many thanks.
Excellent servers, and great food! The Sauerkraut Balls are a must try appetizer, and the Schnitzel Sammy and Jägerschnitzel were pretty good as well. And if you go on a day that the Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie is available, you definitely need to try it! Great historical building, and the fragrant bratwurst aromas add to a great cultural experience dining here.
This was one of the best experiences we had in our short time in Austin. Great range of beers, awesome service and the giant pretzel was to die for. If we ever get back to Austin, we will be going back to this place more than once.
I had a great German themed lunch here. We got the sauerkraut balls and some bratwurst. The food was delicious and the beer list was pretty varied as well. The staff was friendly and there was plenty of seating. The beer garden is nice and shaded as well. There's only paid street parking though so plan accordingly. I'll definitely be coming back.
I got in around dinner time, but didn't have to wait too long for my service after placing my order. The food was delicious as I never had German food like this. So definitely worth the stop for a bite and it was quite enough in the bar to share a few conservations with people in the bar.
Your experience at Sholz depends on UT Football. High energy spot for pre-game and game watch with limited menu options and walk up service to accommodate large crowds. Game day experience is fantastic -- large crowds in the Bier Garten makes Sholz a must. Non-game day visit yields access to a great menu (try the Rueben and pretzel) and fantastic service.
This place is awesome. Great drinks, and absolutely fantastic food. The staff is always extremely friendly, providing good suggestions when asked. The only negative is the parking, it's not terrible but it's also not good. Be prepared to pay to park on the street
Had an amazing lunch here with the husband. We arrived right when they opened and our server, Beca (i think) was absolutely the best. She recommended to us the pretzel with beer cheese and garlic butter (which IS the best pretzel I have ever tasted), and we had the Wurst Board, which was quite excellent. The Reuben fries were a good companion to the wurst board, though its not the best fries I've ever had by any means. Definitely would return. The rich history, and lovely outdoor environment makes it a location that I must return to, especially on Wednesday hopefully when they've got the band out there!
We stopped in on the same day of the 3M Half Marathon and this place was HOPPING! Immediately upon entering you’re hit with the delicious smell of smoked meat and general welcoming German pub vibes. It’s dark and still decorated for Christmas which is charming. We were sat down quickly and brought waters, then ordered some tea. The tea came in practically gallon containers (ok, maybe liter) and was fantastic. My Arnold Palmer even came with a spoon to mix it up - I think they make their own lemonade here! The pretzel was crunchy on the outside and melty soft and warm on the inside. Almost like a donut but savory. OMG it was so good. It came with garlic butter and mustard along with some cheese. We also got some red cabbage rotkohl - so yummy. Our turkey sandwich and weisswurst did not disappoint. I sent the menu to my German friend and she was like “wow, that place looks legit!” And as far as I can tell, it is! We are visiting Austin to celebrate my mom’s birthday and I slipped away to ask our waitress and another staff member if they did anything for birthdays. They came out in a hot dog suit to sing my mom happy birthday and we both loved it. I so appreciate the kind welcoming service we got at Scholz. We loved our visit!
I haven’t been here in the 80s but man I loved going to the boys state basketball tournament and then going to scholz with my dad. Great times!
This place is AMAZING. Ordered from here off Uber Eats on a whim really. I passed by it all the time on my way to and from work and I have been meaning to try it for awhile but kept forgetting about it. And I'm glad I tried it tonight. I was so good! So flavorful and big portions. I will definitely be back. Adding this place into my rotation of places to go out to eat!
Came for happy hour. Had a beer and a Cherry limeade cocktail. Drinks were great. The stars of the show were the appetizers. We shared a personal pretzel that came with a mustard, a fantastic garlic butter, and a beer cheese. This was fantastic. The Reuben waffle fries were delectable and great for sharing with the table. Would come again!
We went to the Scholz Garten as a pre-Longhorns game stop and enjoyed everything about this place. As expected, this iconic German restaurant was packed with Longhorns fans, and the atmosphere was full of energy. Our sausage bratwurst was an awesome treat. I would highly recommend this as a pit stop for a longhorns game or just a stop on your visit to downtown Austin...
A group of us went to Schultz’s after going to see an exhibit at Blanton. We hadn’t been in a while, and we’re very pleasantly surprised how good the food was. The service was excellent and how reasonably priced everything was. I had a delicious sausage with German mustard and a very good side salad, and my friend had a Cobb salad and the other chicken sandwich with waffle fries. We sat outside on the patio under the shade and it was very nice. Also, it was nice to bask in the ambience of old Austin!
Considered the oldest restaurant in Texas, Scholz Garten in Austin is a historic gem, established in 1866 by German immigrant August Scholz as a saloon and beer garden. Starting as a hub for the growing German community, it evolved into a cultural landmark, purchased by the Austin Saengerrunde in 1908, who still own it today. Recognized as a Texas Historic Landmark in 1967 and added to the National Register in 1979, it’s survived wars, Prohibition, and Austin’s rapid growth. Once a spot for concerts and political gatherings, it now blends tradition with modern vibes, offering German fare and UT game-day energy. A must-visit for history lovers! And the pretzels are great!
This place blew my mind. Not only was the service impeccable, but they were so friendly and really helped each other out. They were overly accommodating. The food was INCREDIBLE. I have never had applesauce that was better tasting. I would love to be able to purchase some!!! The jagerschnitzel was delicious and the whole plate complimented each other. I would be happy to return the next time I am in Austin!
A must visit when you’re in Austin! Oldest Biergarten in the United States and longest continuously running restaurant in Texas. Large portion sizes, and my favorite was the Bavarian Pretzel (the bier cheese and garlic butter were delicious!). Nice atmosphere (we ate inside but the outdoor area looked fun too). Our server, Ashlee (not sure if I am spelling his name correctly) was wonderful! Look forward to returning next time we are in town!
I had never been to the restaurant before (and it was my first time in Austin as well), and I found it through Apple Maps, and I was very impressed when I went there Saturday. The food was very authentic and amazing, and the overall atmosphere was also amazing. Their outside seating was perfect for a warm day such as Saturday. Also, the portions were large for the price, and it is rare to find a place that both has good food and good prices for the portions. I was very happy with my meal, and should I return to Austin, I will be sure to go back to the Scholz Garten restaurant.
I have been enjoying Sholz Garten for about 17 years now 🙂 I haven't had the food in such a long time that I had been actually CRAVING their Cobb salad for almost a month now. When I worked in the capital complex downtown, while I was pregnant, if I wasn't napping, I took a walk and grabbed a bite from Sholz. I ate there AT LEAST twice a week for a good chunk of time while working for the State. HIGHLY RECOMMEND this phenomenal and very authentic German food and atmosphere. I was trying to get in and out this visit, so I didn't get photos of the entire structure. However, the bar is still the original to the building and is still in really amazing condition ❤️ I am so happy to have had my hankering met 🥳
Amazing Historic German Beer Garden! The food here is of the highest quality, we had the sausage Flight and all the sausages were packed with flavour, and the accompanying dips and sides were all top notch. The sauerkraut Balls, and the potato pancakes with mushroom gravy were delicious as well! Reasonable prices, and a great vibe in general, highly recommended!

I probably have not been to Scholz' Garten in over twenty years. I think it used to be called Scholz beer Garten. It has been so long ago they had a dirt floor out in the beer garden. I agonized …

Anthony was our great server. He was very attentive and enthusiastic and made great recommendations. We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch featuring awesome german pretzel and brauts. Highly recommend.
Oldest beer garden in Austin. The place is very spacious, it has an outdoor area seen in traditional beer gardens (the biggest area), an indoor dining area, and the bar area. The former two have waiters taking orders while the bar area you can pick up the menu and order at the bar itself. You have an extensive choice of import and domestic beers, but I strongly urge to try the imported German drafts. They are authentic and delicious, perfectly representing the world-renown taste of German beer. The food isn’t that far behind, authentic German rolls and sausages were a delight. Water, at least at the bar area, is complimentary. Be aware that during events near the area makes parking very difficult to find so plan ahead. Definitely check out this place for a piece of authentic German history.
We had delicious fresh pretzel and beer before the Texas Women's Basketball game. Delightful start to the day.
Chill spot. Decent drinks , ive had better German sausage but it was good. Liked the outside area
Since moving to Austin we decided to visit Scholz Garten for German food. Anthony took good care of us and served a great dark beer to match my husband’s taste: Warsteiner dunkle. Wurst, red cabbage, German potato salad, sauerkraut, dark rolls, and authentic mustard collection - all excellent! And the German wurst board was a bargain at $13.50, with a very nice presentation. The red cabbage and German potato salad were some of the best I have had outside of Germany and Austria. Wiener schnitzel ($16) was overcooked and kartoffelpuffer (potato pancakes with apple sauce $7) was seasoned perfectly but under fried and had soaked up a little grease. First I praised the good things, and when I pointed out the overcooked veal, Anthony actually shared that with kitchen and they brought us a giant warm house made blueberry cobbler to go as an apology. Great staff and very reasonable prices. Easy to get to and park on Sunday.
The food was amazing it was so filling and the price was right!! The service was amazing!! I'm giving a 4 for atmosphere and overall a 4 because of the smoke inside. The inside was so smokey from the cooking that we had to go outside and eat. I have pictured the smoked turkey sandwich. It was so good. The pretzel was huge and delicious!
Food was good. To be honest, I just felt like some of the staff were annoyed about serving us? A waitress brought out or food, we thanked her (word for word, "thank you"), and she just looked at us and walked away with no response. No nod, "you're welcome," or any confirmation she heard us. The two working the outdoor "counter service" didn't seem much happier. On top of that, the payment kiosk defaults to 22% tip, which I did go with, so you'd think the employees would be friendlier. The nicest person we interacted with was a woman who seemed to be a manager going around to do last call for the kitchen.
We were at the Texas Bullock Museum and got a bit peckish. Around the corner (walking distance) is Scholz Garden. This is a very German pub that has been around for over 100 years. We only had the smoked/ fried wings which were amazing but we will be back to try their German plates. Omg they looked great! Service was friendly and sweet. Ambiance was really great with music not to loud and TVs for game days. Great Austin Pub!!
Food was alright, I got the pulled pork and I wished they made them a bit wetter. Bar service was great but definitely prefer the indoor bar than the outside bar (rim was better indoors and they’d don’t over ice my drinks). Overall great place for a 1st timer, hook ‘em 🤘🏽
Wanna have a beer, eat German inspired food and watch sports? Well Scholz Garden is the place. Being a historical restaurant in Austin and near the UT campus. This is a staple to come in and have a good time.
We ate in the garden. The food was great and the atmosphere was wonderful outside of the choice of music piped in. The only unpleasant surprise was the $11 charge for my single glass of beer.
We stopped in before a concert at the Moody Center. It takes a while to get seated (even when it's not busy). The drinks and food are good, but the service is lacking. It's pretty loud inside, just know what to expect before going in. The outside patio area has a nice vibe and there are mister fans that help keep it cool.
This is our go-to place before concerts at the Moody Center. We love it here! Food is excellent, drinks are good, atmosphere is great. They play music on their sound system by the artist who's performing at Moody prior to the concert. Service overall has been good. However, I'm giving Sholz 4 stars overall instead of 5 because of a small incident that happened yesterday prior to the ELO concert. We sat at a bench and I placed my beer right in front of me. An employee came over and began to remove glasses left by the last party. He didn't ask about my glass so before I could say anything he grabbed it and threw it in the middle of a stack with dirty empty glasses. I said, "that's my beer." He asked which one it was so I pointed at the one that was still 1/4 full in the middle of his stack. I was still drinking it. He apologized and brought me another beer BUT I had to pay for it even though he took my original beverage. I gave the guy a perplexed look when he told me how much the beer was. I didn't make a stink but I wasn't too happy about that. If you go to Scholz, hold your beers close to you or else they'll dump it and make you pay for another. Other than that, enjoy.
Have lived in Austin for 3 years and are leaving this weekend to move to Colorado. We decided to do a take-out order as one of our last meals! Unfortunately there were several things left out of our bag so we were a little upset. That being said what we had the German Wurst Board and Beef Tips were Excellent. My husband called to complain about what was missing but it was during dinner service so he called back today and spoke with the manager Garret. We received a terrific apology and our bill was comped. We headed back down this afternoon for one of the missing items the Giant Pretzel it is a 10 and we have traveled to Germany many times. You can't beat great food and customer service no wonder they have been in business for so many years....
Stopped by Scholz Garten while visiting Austin for some beer and sausages. I had high hopes going into this place - the atmosphere looked incredible and the sausages looked delicious. Our food was great, we sat outside where it was pleasant and spacious. However, every server that we encountered was so unpleasant. Our server had no people skills and acted like she hated her job. And then the person who came by to refill our waters had the same attitude. Very weird vibes but the food was delicious. Hopefully she was just having a one-off bad day. I recommend this place if you want good food and beer garden vibes.
Got to check out this cute German Restaurant / hang out … loved the eating area out back but it was closed for a party … the vintage inside was cool as well. It was really loud with some tables very close together but the waiter was great and moved us to another area that was a little quieter (however it was still loud and a hard to hear my freind). The restaurant vibe was fun and nice for big parties. The giant pretzel was amazing and so delicious- a must get! We shared beef tips, the Greek goddess salad and the hot potato. All was good. The beef tips were more “gravy” and a few bit sized pieces of beef, so I wouldn’t order that again but everything else was great. The wait staff was friendly and nice when you could get their attention. We got our drinks but no check backs for refills (even on water). After our meal was delivered the waiter was not back to check on us, refill drinks, never brought extra napkins requested - staff was around but never made eye contact with our table, stopped to check and could not hear our “excuse me” when leaving the table next door…. we had to catch a show, so we got up and went to the bar to ask to pay for our meal … it was busy, but it would have been easily possible to drop napkins, water and the bill after delivering the food. Would try it again, but the service side could use a step up. Would be a great place to grab beers and hang out on the patio … overall good and clearly a fun spot - but needed more follow up on the table service.

Went on a slow night. Good beer, food was okay, service was lacking. The saurkrout and beets carried the sausage platter for me. I asked the bartender for German ale recommendations and she told me to scan the qr code to look at the beer list. I scanned it and it wasn't loading so I just picked a random one. Overall everyone seemed disinterested.
The pretzel with butter, mustard and bier cheese was wonderful! Would recommend to all. However the Jagerschnitzel was overcooked and tough. The gravy was too thick and pasty tasting. The meat was also paper thin. I was really looking forward to going there as I hadn't been in a number of years. Very disappointed with the entre. The service was outstanding!!
the three wurst on the wurst board were so overcooked, dry, hard and taste all the same - tasteless. perhaps they were already cooked and left in a warmer. The pretzel bread was excellent and fresh. The wienerschnitzel was good, but my goodness, it was paper thin, I couldn’t taste the veal. Spaetzle, they were limb and soggy, tasted like they have boiled the noodles earlier then just pan fried to heat it up. For a restaurant that’s been there for over 100 years, they don’t have any pride in their heritage. Perhaps because the Restaurant is big, they have shortcut all their dishes. great displays but no substance.
It's a pretty cool place, and within stumbling distance of the UT stadium. It was raining when I was there, so I spent all of my time inside the bar. The inside is spacious, but also cozy at the same time. It has a dark vibe to it with dark woods and a dark wooden bar. I liked the vibe. The outside area looks like a pretty fun biergarten - I'll have to check it out again when they have something going on. It was a weekday when I was there, so there weren't a lot of customers, but the staff were friendly and helpful. The beer selection is really good. Obviously, plenty of German selections, but they also have a decent amount of regional Texas beers on tap and in cans. Other than the great beer selection, I had the potato pancakes. They were good, and a decent size, but I wouldn't go out of my way for them.
My first time here and I came on a day with a limited menu, which was disappointing. I had a chopped brisket sandwich. I asked for cheddar cheese to be added to my sandwich. I was expecting a slice o…

Swung by for early happy hour and really enjoyed the nice weather in the beer garden. Beers are refreshing and the food was alright. Service was attentive but there wasn't much familiarity with the…

Good beer, good patio, very friendly service… I have to be honest though, the food was just terrible. Th Schnitzel and Spaetzel were really mushy and the texture was that of a microwaved flap of mystery meat. Not good at all. The bratwurst was marginally better, but I really can’t condone the food here as being good “German food”. I was really hyped to try it, but walked away very disappointed.
Limited menu was a fraction of what they normally have. Basically turned the restaurant into a glorified concession stand. No service, had to order at the bar. This was due to how busy they said they…

We came on a night with a limited menu. Where is the potato salad? The cucumber salad? The meat in our sandwich was rubbery. The music was folk and not German. The food was more fast food, blah, th…
Extremely disappointed in their reuben sandwich. I called ahead to ask if they used a house-cured corned beef or a Boar's Head type lunchmeat. Looks like lunchmeat in photos. It's great when it's s…
Female bartender harassed and bullied me when I came here once. She looked like she was losing hair and wore a bandana to cover her head. Her treatment was gruesome. I didn't come here for abuse and not fair I was subjected to it. Meanwhile the stuck up blonde White woman and White bartender were looking at eachother with snarky looks like I was being a problem because I defended myself (politely, no profanity or threats). This was quite awhile back but I never forgot the experience and never went back. I am much too brown apparently to be treated kindly here. I made a complaint right after it happened and nothing came of it. I do not recommend this place. I passed by it after work and was prompted to review it so here ya go.
For a $15 dollar turkey club sandwich you’d think the staff would be more friendly to you when support their employment. I did a take out order. Wasn’t greeted, told the guy behind the bar I’m here for my order (which was right in front of him) he nodded his head, look at the order and walked away. He was very rude and dismissive. Another staff member who was friendly, finally came to assist me.
Ordered the Cherry Meridian Hive and was only given a 9oz cup. Cost $11. I asked why they only gave me 9oz when the menu says 16 oz. They said it was because it is a mead so it has a higher alcohol content than the cider. Meridian Hive has a 5% alcohol content which is equivalent to the Austin East Cider they had on tap. They then told me they are out of the usual glasses they came in. When asked why they charge so much for it compared to other restaurants in the Austin area, they said the keg costs $200 which is more than even their German kegs. They only gave me a free refill due to it saying 16oz on their menu. A keg from Meridian hive costs $125. They are offering this drink as another gluten free option but over charging customers. Would not recommend for gluten free patrons.
