The League Kitchen & Tavern is praised for its great atmosphere, friendly staff (especially Stephen and Oliver), and delicious food. Popular for date nights and casual outings. Monday burger night is a hit. Some find the fries could be hotter.

Now that’s a ribeye. Been coming here for some time with the kids - consistently great - and the kids feel like they’re among friends
Very nice interior, ambience, and food was very very good. Our server, I forgot her name she has Irish name and talks very fast. Anyway she was super friendly and she's full of positive energy. All her recommendation was perfect, other staff were very friendly as well.
I recently went for dinner with a friend for the BOGO burger night. Our server Stephen was attentive and our burgers were delicious. What a great deal! Mara, I am assuming the manager, was incredible. The whole experience was just great. On a side note, I really like the renovations that were done. We will be back!
Few places I always take my mom when she comes to visit are ALC, Steiner ranch, and Roaring Fork because I've never been let down by any of them. I go to new spots with other peeps but I never want to disappoint momma. This time, after running errands all day, I picked this place at random as it was on our way home. Expectations were not high due to it being in a little strip mall. Well, holy moly. Everything was amazing. We got the spinach artichoke dip, Southern burger (people, please always get your burgers medium rare) SO JUICY, and we got the fish n chips. My only complaint is that the drinks lagged, we even got the appetizer before our drinks which is annoying and they were mostly ice, little pricey for barely any liquid. But, the food, all of it, A +. Will 1000% go back. Solid work guys! Thank you!
The chicken pot pie is pure comfort food greatness... the kind that makes you rethink every other pie you’ve ever had. The crust is golden, buttery, and flaky enough to deserve its own award, while the filling is rich, creamy, and packed with tender chicken and veggies that actually taste fresh. It’s the perfect balance of cozy and classy... like grandma’s recipe went to culinary school!
We had an incredible experience at our first visit to this restaurant! The ambience was fantastic, and the meal was exceptional. Our server, Stephen, truly made the evening special with his friendly and welcoming personality. He recommended some delicious dishes that we absolutely loved. Stephen also shared fascinating details about the restaurant’s 1920 theme and its unique setup, which added to the charm of the experience. The food was outstanding, and we can’t wait to return for more visits!
The atmosphere resembles that around the prohibition of alcohol movement in America, it's a little chic and a little contemporary within a bar setting. They have a monthly specials rotating menu. I got the burger for April which was the Rueban. We also tried their Southern burger and the fried pickles...overall, a great dig to try and support local. Huge shout out to Russell S for the outstanding service! ⭐️ We will surely be going back.
It was our first time here. The atmosphere is really comfortable and bright. The staff were really friendly. The menu was I feel to be the “just right” amount of options. It didn’t feel overbearing. The picture I attached of the appetizers we got. Truffle Deviled Eggs and Tuna Tartare Tacos. The deviled eggs were quite enjoyable, but the tacos stole the show here. The dressing for the salad that they made for it is really store, but your pallet adapts quickly. This made it seem like each bite felt like a first bite. I didn’t include our entrees in pictures, but we got a burger and a grown up grilled cheese. The burger felt perfect. The right ratios of everything and it’s one of the places that actually makes the burger at the temperature that you request - I got a medium. The fries are really greasy though. The Grown Up Grilled Cheese is a cheese lovers dream. The tomato soup with it isn’t as creamy as I’m used to and tomato heavy. (My mom is allergic to nightshade, but still loves tomato soup. So for those niche people I felt that was worth mentioning.) They hooked us up with a “Dump Cake”. Honestly. It was delicious. It was perfectly balanced with texture and taste. It was a decent combo of sweets without being too sweet, which is my favorite part about it. We will probably be coming here more and it is a place I would recommend to try.
Went in for the 2 for 1 burgers. We started off with the truffle deviled eggs which were amazing. We got the sandwich of the month, a cheese steak with voodoo sauce and got the western burger for free. The dessert was so delicious that I forgot to take a picture before we started eating it.
Having lived in Austin for over 51 years, I have a short list of my favorite haunts or "go to" restaurants. I like trying new places, but with so many to choose from I hope to be wowed and not just satisfied. My friends suggested the League Kitchen for dinner in '17 and it couldn't have been better. Seven years later and we're still regulars! We like to sit at the bar and Marissa, Trey and Leda always take care of us! Highly recommend the "Fat Tire Fish and Chips" which are the best I've ever had, and the "Breakfast Anytime" which delivers time and time again! Shout out to their GM, Kevin, who always personally cooks my breakfast, and to their evening manager - Nicole! 5 stars, League Kitchen - Avery Ranch!
Very friendly and helpful staff. My wife and I wanted to split our orders and they happily split our plates. We had some tomato soup and the fish and chips. The fish and chips were awesome. Well done batter that was crispy and the cod cut made it very British like. Ask for malt vinegar and it will taste even more authentic. I prefer double fried American style fries over the British style chips so I really enjoyed the French fries here with the fish. Restaurant is also well decorated. Looking forward to coming back here!
First time customers, we went at an odd time about 4pm yesterday on Saturday. Only a couple other people were there so I began to worry that this may not be a very good place to eat, I WAS WRONG. The host opened the door for our stroller, smiled and was super friendly. Our waitress was just as friendly and attentive. Portions were large and fresh. The fried pickles are sweet just FYI, I’m more of a dill pickle lover but my family really liked them. The fries are real fresh cut fries, not frozen & we’re DELICIOUS. We shared the club sandwich, it’s plenty for two people plus the fries. My husband ordered the sweet brussel sprouts and said they were the best he’s had! My family also ordered the shrimp salad and burger with fries and both said it was great. We will be back!
Our first time at League was a great experience. Oliver and Stassney were so friendly, fun, and helpful. I ordered the Club sandwich on sourdough bread with extra sweet pickles. I also ordered their onion rings. The batter was stellar and the onion was actually fresh and juicy. My wife ordered the French Dip sandwich on a gluten free bun. It looked better on their regular delicious bread, but she said it was still excellent even though it was on a GF bun. Lots of parking and easy to find. The bar area looks like a comfortable place to watch sports events and have a cold beer.
The best burger restaurant in Austin, with amazing food selections, and friendly staff members. We can't wait to go back again soon! After moving back home, I have been looking for real burgers. Thick patty, choose your own temperature and cheese, fried egg on top, and truffle fries on the side, I finally got them all here at the League Kitchen & Tavern! To start, we had fried pickles which comes with wing sauce and real blue cheese crumbles. It is amazing especially when you pair it with the citrus squall golden ale. They work so well with each other, highly recommend trying them if you are a beer lover. We had the burger of the month, the Reuben burger, and the Society burger with Swiss and a fried egg. Both of us truffled up on our fries which were great. The burgers are just amazing, the meat is fresh and juicy, and the flavor is great! We came in on a Saturday after the lunch rush hour. Our waitress Lena L. was amazing. She is super friendly and energetic, even when she had to take care of the tables both inside and outdoors. Lena found out it is our first time visiting and so she gave us a complementary dump cake. Even though it is half of the regular size, the cake was really big and they use real vanilla beans in the ice cream! She also told us that every Monday is buy one burger and get one free (dine-in only); Thursdays are the prime rib special with half-priced wine. If you love real burgers (cooked to order) and beer, we highly suggest you check this place out.
Another good meal and day at the League Kitchen Tavern. Tonight I had the prime rib special. I was not disappointed. The meat was tender and juicy. The sauces that came with it were excellent. …

We came for an early dinner, service was fast, we had a lovely server and shout to the manager who came to check on us a few times to make sure all was well! Food was good, well sized portions and the ambiance of the place makes it worth it! Food wise we had tomato and French onion soup and they were yummy! For mains, we had meatloaf and the chicken Diane. Meatloaf was delicious, however chicken Diane was nothing exceptional tbh…a bit boring… the Brussel sprouts as a side were just ok, wouldn’t order again… Since we were there for the 1st time, we were offered a half sized portion of the Dump Cake, which as delicious!!! We’d have ordered more if it wasn’t for the fact that bill was brought to us when we were still eating it.. I don’t like places who don’t check if you want something else before bringing the bill, so I felt rushed to go and did not order anything else…however cake was really good and I found it a nice gesture to get half slice as a 1st time customer. I’d recommend and comeback to try other dishes.

Chill vibe. Good service. A little spendy, as they say in the Midwest. Show up for half-price appetizers at happy hour.

Stopped in for happy hour, which was only $1 off appetizers, all of which were well over $10, $2 of beer and wine, and $1 off cocktails. We got the ham and cheese croquettes for around $13.99 and the meatloaf bites, which was literally 6 small cubes of meatloaf set on top of a tiny dollop of mashed potatoes for 14.99! . The croquettes were ok, but kind of bland. Adding some green onion or chopped fresh jalapeño to the mixture would make them really good. The meatloaf bites looked like they had been sitting out for a couple days, almost like they took yesterday’s leftovers and used them for this dish. They were completely dried out and tasteless. Drinks were good but even with this discount, still expensive for what you get. Better drink deals at other places. The place was much more empty than when I used to go a few years back. Food quality, (at least for the appetizers) has just gone way down and prices way up. Sad because they used to be excellent. The staff were very friendly and attentive though.
Typically when I go we go it is at lunch and we order burgers. burgers are normally a little dry but good. I have also tried the fish and chips which were too greasy for me. This time we went during happy hour. Appetizers are half price and I believe drinks are $1 off. We ordered a passion fruit spicy margherita with tajin rim which was pretty darn good 5 out of 5 for me. For appetizers¹ we ordered (fav to least fav): 1. Fried pickles. Sweet and tangy with a light coating best I've had so far. 2. Truffle devil eggs - ok 3. Barbeque wings and buffalo wings - next time I will ask for well done. 4. Coconut shrimp - husband thought they were too crispy and overcooked but I liked the crunch 5. Beef short rib stuffed potato - honestly i didn't try but husband said they were ok 6. Spinach artichoke dip - didn't taste like it wasn't fresh, maybe frozen and reheated. Service was a 5 out of 5. Wait staff were really friendly and attentive. I will go again but stick with my typical burger order but add fried pickles.
I enjoyed the quick getaway but it wasn't my stay. It was nice to have a spot to grab a HH drink and a bite

Was disappointed in the fish and chips. The fish had a thick coating that held lots of grease. It was our first time here. Other items on the menu looked good, so I might come back to give the place another chance. Went back and ordered the short rib stroganoff. I really wanted to like this place because it is convenient to me. The stroganoff sauce was bland and watery. I took it home and added some sour cream and ate it for leftovers. My husband got the breakfast and said it was okay. Gavin was our waiter and he did a good job.

Received a coupon in the mail for this restaurant so decided to take advantage of it. Arrived Saturday at 5:15pm with a party of three adults. Waitress greeted us at our table (newer waitress just returned after being away at college) and informed us that it was Happy Hour. She talked my husband into getting the tall beer because it was $2 off happy hour price. And we put in an order for an appetizer. She then returns and tells us it is NOT in fact Happy Hour. So we cancelled the appetizer. WHATEVER…. She told my husband if he keeps the tall beer she would still discount it $2 for her mistake. We ordered couple of drinks, the rotisserie chicken entree and the steak salad with the blue cheese crumble on the side. Salad comes out with the blue cheese crumble mixed in the salad. WHATEVER…. We are done eating and try to use the coupon when paying the bill. This bill was presented to us by the waitress with a $2 discount for the beer. Then some lady comes over to our table and says the coupon only applies to “food” purchases and not drinks so we do not meet the minimum required purchases to use that coupon. We had another coupon to use so used that. This mailer came with two different coupons. When we got the new adjusted bill with coupon applied to it, the $2 discount for the beer was no longer there so we were charged full price for the beer. WHATEVER…. We paid and left. All in all our experience was just underwhelming and WHATEVER…. Not ever going back. BTW - pretty empty restaurant for a Saturday night.
Don't come here. Looks like I actually AM an influencer now. Several (actually many) of the restaurants and businesses that I tried to help by posting "room for improvement " reviews have finally shut their doors. Permanently. Yes. Sorry to say that we won't be back here. I tried; we came here 7 or 8 times this last year. Each time I post the good and the bad. Did they improve? NO! Ok... hmmm , not good to not listen to me, average Joe, Mr. Local just trying to enjoy a meal. I was there this last Monday. Tried the schnitzel burger. YEUCCH! Tasted like a freezer burnt Costco schnitzel! Wow, bad really bad. Hey guys, try using a few focus groups to test your new recipes before you release to the public! And the noise? The restaurant was empty during lunch rush hour. Am I surprised? No. I'm just a normal average guy and I can (I did!) tell you what you need to do to improve. Have you done it? No. Ok fine. BUH-bye! Last month's review: The burgers are ok, not great not bad. They are similar to Chili's 🌶️ burgers, but cost more. The tables and booths are a bit crowded but adequate. The background noise is music that they play way too loud. I've worked in restaurants for years and we JAM to tunes, before the restaurant opens and after it closes. But here it's as if the workers forgot to turn it back down after it opened. Nobody is listening to this noise anyway, TURN IT DOWN! A bright spot: our waitress Elise was great! She actually WAITED instead of interrupting like most "servers" do these days. She was attentive and never interrupted us. We gave her a huge tip (on a boomer scale) of about 35%. I hope folks realize a standard tip for good service good food is 15%. Get used to it, Gen Z. So 35% is really good, and rare for me! If restaurants want to keep great waitresses like Elise, pay them more! $$ So... summary: food ok, service GREAT, atmosphere acceptable (barely). Will I be back? Yes but it's not on my regular restaurant rotation. We go out to eat about 3 lunches per week, and 5 dinners per week. We'll be back here, but not routinely.
