This was our first trying Mama Betty’s after seeing a good review on TikTok. Atmosphere was nice, colorful with low lights. Laura was our waitress, she had a great personality and very knowledgeable about the menu and gave good recommendations. We tried the chicken flautas, migas with beef fajita, sour cream enchiladas, and sopapillas for dessert. All were good, but could’ve been seasoned a little more. Oh yeah, we did try the margaritas… tasty!! Overall, we enjoyed this place, and will definitely visit again!

Wow, what a great experience! From the host at the front door (didn’t catch their name) giving recs and being super friendly to the food: everything was great. Estrella was amazing! Super thoughtful service without being intrusive. Everything feels reasonably priced and good portions. Lunch pricing is extra generous. We really loved it and will be back! IT. WAS. GREAT! We walked in expecting that we would get a regular Tex-Mex experience (or something else kinda along the lines of Santiago) but Mama Betty’s has great food, service and overall vibes. Our server (don’t remember the name sorry) was great at pointing things out and if we didn’t know what something was, they explained it in a way we could understand. The salsa and queso were super tasty and when they brought out the spicy versions, we L O V E D it. We were in for a long wait…or so we thought. Not even 10 minutes passed before our dishes arrived and they looked, smelled, and tasted GREAT! Everything we ordered was fine the first time around the server was keeping a watchful eye over all tables they managed. Even when finished with our meal, we were allowed to take an extra batch of spicy salsa and queso home! It’s kinda similar to Kerby Lane in a way, but done super right. 10/10 would come again since of how close it is to us.

Doing work in the area and checking Google for mexican restaurants. Found this place. We decided to eat here. This place was great. Everyone was nice and took care of us . The food was delicious and cooked perfectly. Everyone enjoyed their food. The atmosphere was great. Overall it was a great dining experience.

Good Mexican food with excellent service at a local Cedar Park restaurant. They’ve got lots of outdoor seating, indoor seating, and a bar. The atmosphere is good and prices are very reasonable for excellent food if you’re looking for Tex Mex.

Rarely do I rave about 1st time dining experiences but if there was a time it was deserved it’s now. I can’t believe how incredible my meal my tasted. Stopped in impulsively on my day off, sat at the bar asked the bartender her recommendations and Bianca (bartender) absolutely delivered! She recommended this skinny margarita that hit the spot, a lunch portion of the fajitas that literally arrived UNDER 10 minutes sizzling. The steak was phenomenal and the way it paired with their garlic butter (heavenly), and their tomatillo salsa was phenomenal—- literally goosebumps. I have no connection or any form of prior association with this restaurant or the employees so when I say this I mean it. MUST. TRY. ASAP. Shoutout once more to Bianca 👏🏼👏🏼

Visiting family in Austin, they chose this place for Sunday brunch. Great vibe, we sat out on the patio. The staff are super friendly and accommodating. The relaxed atmosphere makes you want to spend time there to chat and breathe. The house made chips and salsa is very addictive. The food comes out hot and wthin 20 minutes of ordering. Very tasty and good portions. The 3 of us were very happy with our choices. With the plethora of Mexican choices, this was a great suggestion, where they also make the tortillas in house, have great people working there with tasty authentic food that will not stretch your wallet.

Delicious Tex-Mex food, spacious interior with outdoor patio, great customer service and lively atmosphere. Food portions were generous, you can spilt into 2 meals if you can’t finish. Love that they give complimentary chips & salsa as an appetizer! Heard they’re known for their fajitas which was served on a sizzling stove. Will definitely be back if we’re in the area. Call ahead or check in online because there was a wait to get a table.

We tried Betty's for the first time the other night and were not disappointed! They don't take reservations but do take call-ahead spots, so we were able to get a table for 8 with no wait on a holiday evening (Memorial Day). All of the food was excellent! My husband got the plato carnitas and said it was some of the best that he's ever had! For someone who grew up south of San Antonio, that's saying a lot! I got the chicken fajitas for one, and shared this with my grandma. I didn't think it would be enough at first because it's a smaller portion than most fajita plates at other restaurants, but it proved to be just the right amount. The service was great and the staff was friendly. We will be back to visit again!

This place gets crowded, but we were seated within minutes. The staff was warm and welcoming, and the music was neither too loud nor too soft, allowing us to enjoy dancing a bit. Our waiter, CW, was exceptional. He made my wife and me laugh during one of our toughest times as parents. He also catered to our needs perfectly, ensuring that our drinks were never empty and that he was always available if we needed anything. Our appetizers, main courses, and drinks arrived shortly after we placed our orders, and the food was simply amazing! The flavors were delightful. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our experience and will definitely be returning to this place.

Mama Betty’s off Palmer has been my family’s favorite Tex-Mex spot for years. Our kids go to school nearby, so it’s been a great place to stop after pickup, and their happy hour has always been one of our favorites. It’s been a reliable neighborhood place for good food, strong margaritas, and a welcoming atmosphere. That’s why our most recent visit a few weeks ago on a Wednesday night stood out so much — something just felt off. The chicken and beef both tasted a little strange, almost chemical, and the chicken soft tacos during happy hour didn’t seem like the usual quality we’re used to. The beef also tasted a bit old, like the grease or oil might not have been fresh. It was hard to pinpoint exactly what it was, but the food just didn’t taste right. The drinks also seemed noticeably weaker than normal, and the staff felt a little off that night compared to the friendly, upbeat service we’ve come to expect. I know the restaurant industry can be tough, and I also know Mama Betty’s recently opened another location further south. It made me wonder if maybe staff had shifted around and the original spot just had an off night. We’ll definitely still be back because this has been a go-to place for our family for years. Hopefully this was just a one-off evening, because Mama Betty’s has always been a great local spot and we’re rooting for it to stay that way.

The food? Absolutely amazing. The service and wait? Not so much. We ordered Enchiladas Tejas (GF) with chicken—topped in chile con carne and served with rice and beans—and wow. Flavor on flavor. The chicken was tender, seasoned perfectly, and tasted like someone’s abuela was back there doing the Lord’s work. We also shared the Chicken & Beef fajitas, marinated and grilled over an open mesquite fire. These were juicy, well-seasoned, and straight-up delicious. The flour and corn tortillas tasted homemade—or close enough that I’m giving them full credit. The Navigation pechuga gravy (with sautéed onions, mushrooms, jalapeños, and tomatoes) was phenomenal—rich, savory, and packed with flavor. The only problem? There wasn’t nearly enough of it. Criminally shorted because it was that good. The chimichanga was deep-fried perfection, topped with chile con queso and stuffed with chicken fajita, cheese, and refried beans. And let me say this clearly: the Spanish rice here is bomb. We also ordered carnitas tacos—corn tortillas loaded with roasted pork, radish, onion, cilantro, and spicy tomatillo salsa. Fresh, balanced, and gone way too fast. Started with tortilla chips and chile con queso and I can’t say enough about those chips—crispy, corny, and addictive. Now… the service. I called at 4:30 pm on a Tuesday for a party of 10 (family in from Oklahoma). I was told we’d be put on the waitlist. Fair. I now understand that meant waitlist, not reservation—but here’s the issue. We arrived at 6:00 pm (6 of us), the other 4 came about 6:18pm minutes later—which should have worked perfectly. Instead, we waited almost an hour to be seated while watching tables clear and other parties get seated, including areas that clearly could’ve accommodated us. Somewhere between the phone call and the host stand, the ball was dropped. Waiting 45+ minutes with that setup and no real explanation—or apology—is unacceptable. Our server, Lance, was just okay. Not terrible, not great—just… off. Whether it was a bad day or just his vibe, the table definitely felt it. Bottom line: 🔥 Food = 4 stars 😕 Service = 2 stars That averages out to 3 stars. I honestly don’t know that I’d return to this location, because the service issues felt avoidable—and that matters.

It was very bland. The tortillas tasted like paper and felt like it too. The meat, rice, and salsa were bland and pretty much flavorless. The queso and chips tasted like they were bought from the store and simply microwaved. Yet I would’ve preferred the store bought version since at least I can pick out what brand actually tastes good. The chips tasted like basic dollar store chips that you’d only resort to because it’s Super Bowl Sunday and you ran out of the good chips for your dip. I’ve had a lot of great Mexican food, and this isn’t abhorrent or causes illness. It’s just bland. You can get so much better, for so much less, and with pretty much no waiting.

The service was okay the guy was fast but almost too fast like we never got a word in but he was nice. The food was faster ... we had tex mex delivered in like 10 mins my husband and I were surprised and then not so much after thw first bite. The food was batch made or microwaved or something it just didnt taste fresh. The rice was crunchy. Over all we left and went to get actual dinner else where. If you are the type of person to get drunk before eating or you like taco cabana you will love this place. If you're over 50 you will love this place. If you're not from texas you will love this place.

4 of us entered & 4 of us didn't like it. Margaritas tasted like a fake sweet mix. Fajitas for 2 for $60+, better be good and they weren't. There was a weird pico mix on top with very little grilled veggies below. The chewy meat had a ton of soy sauce. The tortillas were good and the chips and salsa offered redemption. Austin has a high number of very good Tex-Mex restaurants and they are going to have to raise the bar, alot, to contend for us. We are glad we ventured out and love finding new places, but our OG restaurants topple this in our experience.
