Ben helped me order my turkey for thanksgiving and was so friendly and helpful! I was stressing out because a lot of places don’t make ready to serve turkeys, stop taking orders, or have complicated ordering processes. Ben walked me through everything and it was super easy and reasonably priced in my opinion as well! Would recommend to anyone hosting Thanksgiving, Friendsgiving, or even just needing to bring a side dish for a potluck this holiday season!

Let me start off with the customer service part.. Darren was such a sweetheart of a person! Very friendly, patient and very accommodating. We ordered the Jefe, OMG it was HUGE and sooooo delicious, the brisket was falling off like melted butter. The loaded elote bowl was awesome as well. 5 stars across the board! ❤️

I'm full! What makes that remarkable is that I ate only one meal -- in this case, a 3-meat plate with potato salad and brisket beans. And a Coke. My first time trying burnt ends, and I'm a believer. The team at the counter is super friendly and attentive. For about $30, it's a great meal in a clean joint with a classy crew. Highly recommend!

Went through the drive thru today on the way back from my vacation to Austin. By far the best interaction I’ve had. Sara at the window was so friendly. Made sure I had my BBQ sauce, napkins, & utensils I needed. I love the chopped brisket sandwich!! First time here. Will be back

I have been meaning to come here for a while now. So I was across the street and decided to give it a try. The BBQ was on point! I tried the combo plate with fatty brisket and ribs. We also got the Brsiket Birria Ramen. omg it is legit so good!!!

Friendliest staff in town and probably the best brisket you can find, just look at this pic. Also all the side items are amazing, as well as the desserts. Creamed corn, brisket beans, banana pudding, peach or blueberry cobbler - they don’t miss. I’m not even a Mac n cheese guy but theirs slaps. I love True Texas BBQ

I am very happy with the BBQ here. This restaurant is in the new H.E.B. on Congress. I have tried the brisket (lean and burnt ends), jalapeño cheese sausage, turkey, and ribs. Everything was very tasty. Sides I have tried are the coleslaw, mac & cheese, baked beans, and cornbread. Desserts have included peach cobbler and banana pudding. It is quite convenient to grab lunch here and then knock off some grocery shopping upstairs. One of my favorite new BBQ spots in ATX. I thought the pricing was very reasonable compared to other BBQ places in town.

True Texas BBQ at HEB is a great spot for a quick, budget-friendly BBQ fix. I had the brisket sandwich, which came with sliced sausage—solid portion and good flavor for the price. The place is clean, and the service is friendly, making for an easy and satisfying meal. Definitely a spot I’d return to when craving BBQ without spending a fortune.

Customer service here is always excellent! Alyssa is a sweetheart. Lean brisket was over-smoked to the point of being dry, but not inedible! Mac n cheese always a timeless classic. Churro pudding was excellent.

This place wasn't bad I had the brisket sandwich and the brisket chilli. I must say the chilli was meaty and spicy. It was good! I also enjoyed the banana 🍌 pudding. Tasty.

I’m not one to write reviews but this felt too ridiculous to not post. It worth noting this was my first time trying this place. I had just picked up groceries and always see a line for this drive thru and figured I’d give it a shot. I ordered the Brisket Nachos, it was like $10 ok no big deal. I get home and the “brisket” is all just fat. There was little to none of any actual brisket on these “nachos” so I basically paid $10 for a small pile of chips, 13 chopped green onions and a handful of jalapeño… super disappointing, overall wouldn’t recommend. For whatever reason google wont let me upload the picture of the straight fatty clippings I got. But I have it and would love to share.

I ordered a 2 meat plate for myself (the plate in the picture). I also got a 1 meat plate. I received this. I got a mix of fatty and lean brisket and I can’t really understand how someone would look at this and think oh yeah that looks right. The 1 meat plate I received had more meat on it than the 2 meat plate. I would’ve just gotten the 1 meat plate and saved myself $7. I’m not the biggest fan of bbq to begin with and this just made me never want to eat it again. I didn’t even finish the sides. The coleslaw was much better than the potato salad though.

It is not a custom-made ramen like in any other restaurant. They just dispense instant noodles from HEB with hot water and sell it to you. 🤮🤮🤮

I recently took my fiancé to the True Texas Barbecue location on S. Congress near Slaughter, excited to try the Tuesday Special. Unfortunately, our experience left much to be desired. While the presentation of the meal was impressive, the quality quickly fell apart once we began eating. We ordered the loaded brisket nachos—an item we were genuinely excited to try—but were met with a major letdown. The tostada chips were extremely stale, making them difficult to chew and enjoy. On top of that, there was a noticeably inadequate amount of cheese, which left the dish dry and lacking the richness you’d expect from loaded nachos. It’s clear that H-E-B knows barbecue, but when it comes to nachos, the foundation starts with fresh chips and a generous amount of cheese—both of which were missing here. Had those key elements been done right, I would’ve gladly given this location five stars. I hope this feedback helps improve the consistency and quality of your dishes moving forward. Maybe I’ll give it another shot down the line, but next time I’ll think twice before rolling the dice on the nachos.
