Extremely serene atmosphere. Bar seating only. The staff was so attentive and very professional. The hand rolls and the nigiri were out of this world. We will be back for sure.

Love love this place. The food is amazing and all the servers here are so nice and helpful with explaining the food to us. I love their matcha sushi rice. I can eat that all day long. Highly recommend and will definitely come back soon. They also told us that they will be opening another location in North Austin. Can’t wait!!!

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Yuki Hand Roll. Today was my second time back, and I must say, the experience has been outstanding in every way. The handrolls were incredibly fresh and expertly crafted, a testament to the skill of the chefs. The variety of fillings and flavors was delightful, catering to every palate. The ambiance was inviting, with attentive and friendly staff who made the dining experience even more enjoyable. Pricing was affordable, good decent size fish and I was comfortably full with their handroll set. I also got to dine in and served by the same chef twice, and quality/experience have been consistent with both times. I can't wait to return and savor more of their delectable handrolls. Highly recommend!

I visited this place for the first time. I was surprised by the luxurious atmosphere. Also, I felt like I received the best service when you served sushi, which was neatly made for each individual. The taste is also so soft that it melts in my mouth. When I think of sushi, I will think of this place first.

So excited about this handroll bar. Food and service were excellent. Tried the scallop, salmon, salmon belly, unagi, and toro handrolls. All so good. Can’t wait to be back

This is the real deal! The sushi was wonderful, the portions were large (nigiri) I was super impressed, service was spot on, food came out quickly. One suggestion, they need real napkins;)

Seems like Handrolls Bars/Restaurants are popping up everything in the States. Luckily, Yuki did not disappoint. The fish is fresh and quality. We ordered Toro, Salmon, Lobster, Yellowtail, Crab handrolls, and also the daily special sashimi. The restaurant has a nice ambiance, decent service and is reasonably priced. I recommend Yuki Handroll Bar if you crave handrolls. It's worth the drive and I believe this is the only Handroll Bar in Austin.

MUST VIST - I came for lunch and I was sooo impressed. I can’t wait to come back to try to more. I had the Tuna hand roll, avocado handroll, and Salmon Belly handroll. The fish so fresh, friendly service, relaxing atmosphere, and overall 5/5 experience. Great breath of fresh air from normal downtown Austin as well. Congrats to the YUKI team and can’t wait to visit again.

This is one of my favorite go to sushi spots!! Their green tea rice is a level up from the rest, adding so much depth and flavor to the sushi! I usually order a few pieces of sushi and a couple hand rolls and that is the perfect meal! They make everything right in front of you, so you get dinner and a show!! If you come during peak hours, expect a wait, since this is first come first serve and no reservations. The smaller your party the easier it is to get sat.

We LOVED Yuki! Everything about Yuki was perfect. The fish was super fresh. The rice was warm. Even the ginger and wasabi were high quality. We’ve been waiting for a handroll bar to open in Austin and Yuki exceeded all of our expectation. We also tried some of the individual nigiri which was delicious and a work of art!

Fresh fish from Japan, Spain, Alaska & some other places I forgot. Krispy fresh seaweed paper. Warm yummy rice for nigiris. Great service. Clean place.

Sitting at the counter and watching the chef make the dishes with such expertise is a pleasure. The nigiri and handrolls are exceptional, especially the yellowtail belly. The shrimp Katsu was light, crispy and warm. The service was very attentive. What a gem!

Damn!! Every single thing I put in my mouth was surprisingly well balanced and popping with flavor. Cannot say in words how delicious the food was. Nice small intimate spot with bar seating, nice change from typical dining experience. Will be back, and can’t more highly recommend

My new favorite Austin sushi spot! The fish quality is impeccable and better than the coast. Cost is very reasonable. Service is on point, attentive, and makes things right with the customers. I'll be back.

Okay Austin friends; this place is a real game changer. Rice, fish, nori; basic ingredients in any sushi dish. I don't say this lightly when I say Chefs Jun and Lim have redifined the Austin Sushi game. The Green Tea Rice as a primary ingredient is not only a stroke of brilliance but a new expansion on the Sushi genre. My pics won't do the place justice. What I love about Yuki Handroll Bar is how they make pieces of art that taste good as much as they look; YOU WON'T FIND SUSHI LIKE THIS IN OTHER AUSTIN RESTAURANTS; believe me, I've lurked. I love that this place HAS PARKING and is open to walk ins. The bar itself is small, but cozy and inviting to a small party, or even solo. Check it as your next sushi stop!

Very goood food. Expensive but probably as expected for sushi. Never seen green tea rice before and they did a great job with highlighting the flavor. The beef was good. Japanese oysters are very gamey compared to normal horse radish/cocktail sauce ones so proceed as you please lol

A new sushi gem in Austin! From the moment you walk in, the space gives off omakase vibes elegant, intimate, and stylish but the experience is refreshingly casual and much more affordable than a true omakase. The restaurant only has high-top tables, which adds to its chic, modern feel. I didn’t know what to expect when my friends brought me here, but wow I was blown away. The cuts of fish for the nigiri were incredibly generous! almost too big to fit in one bite and every piece was fresh and flavorful. The hand rolls were absolutely packed and just as delicious. My favorites were the wagyu, toro, tuna, yellowtail, pickled cucumber, and chu-toro. Everything tasted high quality and well worth the price. They also have a solid wine and sake selection. I had a cup of sake that was tasty but quite small for $9—next time I’ll definitely go for the $35 bottle instead. This place is 100% going on my go-to sushi list. Can’t wait to come back again!

Excellent sushi- hands down the best sushi we have had in Austin. The Nigiri pieces are large, beautiful presentation and not overpowered with too many sauces or additions that take away from the sushi- just the right amount. We get the hand rolls as well but I did not get a photo of those. The service is always exceptional- everyone is very friendly and the food comes out in a timely manner. They have to-go as well and have a different menu on the to-go we just learned about so will have to try that. Can't wait. Have been here several times and each and every time it is consistent, fresh and delicious! I always hesitate to post places like this we really like that are smaller so they don't get too crowded but here you go- you're welcome.

I had been noticing this sushi place driving along 620 a few times. I was feeling like sushi and decided to check it out. The inside is nice and is decorated really well. The whole restaurant is bar seating just so you know. I ordered the seaweed salad and the 6 hand roll special. The handrolls were really good and the ingredients in each one tested top notch. Menu contains a few starters, a few sushi/nigiri options, hand rolls and a small dessert section.Place would be a good spot for a date if both parties are into sushi. The place is still in the new to the area but it is definitely worth a check it out,

The hand roll bar is an excellent choice if you're in the mood for hand rolls or nigiri made with fresh fish. I truly appreciate the concept of this restaurant and highly recommend it for dinner. Every hand roll we sampled was delicious, and the menu offers a diverse selection of fish to pair them with. A delightful experience for any sushi enthusiast!

YUKI was a great stop for sushi. The bar top setup with the chef in the center was a nice experience. All of the food was extremely fresh and delicious. The rice was incredible and really made every piece of sushi great. They used fresh veggies and fish while also making each piece to order so it was never out on the countertop long. The co-owner is very invested in his business and asked for feedback after the meal. He and the staff were all polite and very attentive. I will definitely be back and will recommend everyone give YUKI a chance if you are in the mood for sushi.

Love this place! Their hand rolls and clam miso soup is amazing. I got the 4 piece hand roll and each roll was uniquely different. They were incredibly delicious and the soup was very flavourful. Everything was fresh and came out quickly. Highly recommend both dishes! Service was very generous and ambience is nice. Will be coming again.

The sushi and hand rolls at YUKI were nothing short of a sensory masterpiece. The ambiance is delightful, with a cozy and immaculate setting, and the chef personally crafts and serves each piece. I've explored numerous sushi establishments in Austin, but none have matched the freshness and delectability of YUKI. When dining here with your loved ones, you can expect to be moved beyond your expectations. I eagerly anticipate the day I can return.

My friend and I really enjoyed lunch at Yuki. It's really a cute place. Most of the seats surround the sushi bar which is almost like dinner and a show! The servers and sushi makers were friendly and helpful throughout our entire meal. Just a heads up, they make sushi rolls but they are for to-go orders only. The dine-in menu features nigiri, sashimi, hand rolls, and a few appetizers. We split two hand rolls (tuna and yellowtail belly) and then had several different nigiris including scallop, sweet shrimp, marinated shrimp, madai, and tuna. I was super impressed with the nigiri. The seafood had great color and texture and tasted super fresh. The handrolls were constructed nicely. I can also recommend the matcha green tea as a great lunch beverage. It's not the cheapest sushi place, but I'm happy paying for the quality of food I received. I look forward to going back.

This place is unbelievable. You wouldn’t expect it to be so good. It’s like a chefs table style restaurant. The quality is top notch on par with the other expensive sushi places in town. The atmosphere is very relaxed and casual and the sushi is served to order directly to you so it is as fresh as can be. The rice and the nori are both excellent. I was very pleasantly surprised.

I heard from a friend that this place does amazing sushi so I went. Yuki did not disappoint!! Im not usually one to give 5 star reviews but the food there was truly amazing, definitely stands out from other sushi places in Texas. The vibes in the restaurant were also fantastic, nice lighting and pretty decor that really elevates the whole experience. The service and staff were so nice and helpful too! My personal favorite item on the menu was the sweet shrimp sushi, definitely try this when you’re there! Overall, breathtaking experience, 10/10 would recommend.

Really fantastic place and vibe. The miso with clams was very nice. Tried about half the hand rolls which were all great. The only thing I didn’t absolutely love was the nato. It was fine but had hoped for something with a stronger homemade taste. It tasted like average packaged nato. Not bad but everything else on the menu overshadowed it. I didn’t really want desert but my daughter did so we got the green tea cheesecake which was delightful. Glad she talked me into it. If I could do half stars I’d rank it a 4.5/5. Excellent spot. A little pricy but worth it IMO.

I've been to YUKI twice now, and the experiences were like night and day. The first time was incredible—the master chefs knew what they were doing, and everything was delicious. The nigiri was spot-on, with the perfect balance of rice and fish. You could tell it was made by someone who really knows their skills. But last night was a different story. The nigiri just didn’t hit the same level of quality, and it didn’t take long to figure out why—the original chefs were replaced by some less experienced ones. The difference was noticeable, and it really affected the overall experience. It’s a bit disappointing because the place has potential, but consistency seems to be an issue. I’d be hesitant to go back, knowing that the sushi quality might be a toss-up depending on who’s behind the counter.

I have tried some handroll bars across the US so this is not my first time. The taste of the food is okay, I can tell that the quality of the fish is decent. So if you are not too picky, this place is worth a try. The wasabi seems to be freshly ground, which is a plus. However, personally I think there are some improvements that could have been made. First is the flavor and amount of rice. The rice grain is slightly broken , too overpowered by sugar and vinegar, as well as salt. So it cannot flatter the freshness of the fish, the amount of rice is also too much for a handroll. Second, the cut on the fish is not delicate, slightly on the big end of the size, making it a bit clumsy. Third, the hot and cold kitchen should be completely separated in a Japan restaurant but here, the chefs handled both cold dishes like sushi and hot dishes like tempura at the same time, in the same space, they did wash their hands but it still raise concern about food safety. Fourth, the handroll is left sitting a bit long before serving to the customer, making the nori layer no longer crunchy enough. Fifth, the lobster and crab handrolls both use crab/lobster imitation, which I think will not provide the best taste.

The place is nice and pleasant, the food delicious. It only has one problem, and it's a short, white-skinned woman who works there. Her coworkers called her Dalias. Her behavior is arrogant and shocking, and when you look at her, she looks at you as if you were a nuisance. At first, I felt uncomfortable, and it's not the first time she's done this, since this is my second time here. She should hire people who are cheerful and enthusiastic about us, the customers. But the rest of the service, the chefs, and the food are very good.

We used to frequent Yuki pretty often when they first opened and the head chef/owner worked there, including when they opened their second location. Hadn't been in awhile and was looking forward to visiting again. The quality of the food has seem to gone down. Still an abundant of fish and large pieces, but they are not well put together and easily fall apart. I used to think their fried shrimp head (that came along with ordering sweet shrimp) was one of the best , but was greatly disappointed this time. The batter seemingly changed and now has a chewy texture (likely from using Tapioca flour).

M
Mia Baxter

Hand roll joints are trending with spots popping up across Texas. My rating of 3 stars is based on two things. 1 - this is basically nigiri. Other spots I’ve visited have other elements within the hand-roll that are either stated or a surprise. Here it’s just rice, protein and seaweed. 2. the fish was pre sliced and pulled out of a prep container like a line station where all the pre-sliced fish is kept. The interior is a hodgepodge of decor, with TVs showing nature shows alongside a slideshow of their plates. What is the thing that people come back for? I don’t get it.

V
Vu Nguyen

Got overhyped possibly for this one, we left disappointed by the quality. It was good but we were expecting more for the high price they are setting themselves for. The scallop handroll, barely had any scallop and they were chopped. So really couldn't tell the difference between mayo rice or scallop bits. The toro and chu toro hand roll were also quite disappointing in the consistency. One had nearly half the amount of fish than the other... The sweet shrimp was the but one of the shrimp was borderline mushy, which makes me question the freshness. Salmon Belly roll and Madai were the worse in term of fish/rice ratio. Yuzu cheese cake barely had yuzu flavor.

An interesting restaurant concept that left me slightly confused. If you want to be high end and classy, get rid of the multiple TV screens, the cheap paper napkins and the weird menu format with dry erase markers. Maybe play music that complements the vibe, rather than sad, depressing ballads. Teach your servers to not serve drinks with their hands all over the rim of the glass, and to interact with guests instead of just order-taking. That said, the $7 clam miso soup was pretty good if not a bit sweet. The squid salad appetizer was ok, but I'm pretty sure it isn't made at the restaurant, as I've had that same salad at numerous restaurants. We tried the ikura and salmon hand rolls, which I'd classify as rather basic. The ikura also had a sweetness, rather than saltiness. The salmon was solid, not exquisite. This restaurant definitely delivers on its nigiri sushi, as the fish was clearly quite fresh, with giant slices atop seasoned rice. Several pieces had unnecessary garnishes that detracted from the flavor of the fish. I was really excited to try this place, and while I wasn't disappointed, I wasn't blown away. If you're charging this much for high quality fish, I would focus on developing a classier, more elegant, interactive guest experience. Another oddity: the online menu offers a beautiful selection of original sushi rolls, but these are unavailable to dine-in guests. I think I'll go back again to see if I l'm being too critical with this initial review.

UPDATE: I changed my review to 2 stars because the head chefs no longer work at this location. The people who make the sushi aren't as professional. They still make a decent roll but they aren't as meticulous as the previous chefs so quality of the sushi has gone down. OLD: If you go definitely go for the nigiri vs the hand roll. The hand roll doesn’t have much to it, just rice and your choice of chopped fish. The nigiri is delicately cut fish and dressed with small specialties that give the fish a little umph. The rice is a little sweet because they don’t use the traditional rice. So they don’t have a nigiri or hand roll that is savory. The flavors aren’t balanced because there’s a lot of rice or a lot of fish - and the rice is too overpowering with its sweetness. Overall I do recommend for the price and ambiance.

i went to Yuki convinced i would like it but was disappointed. they have quality fish however a piece of nigiri was not deboned for me. the green tea rice, light soy sauce, and pickled ginger were all very sweet and overpowered any other flavor. staff were standoffish and did not say what each roll was as they sat it down

We were very excited to try a new Sushi bar in our neighborhood. The atmosphere was nice and the staff were friendly. However, the food was very disappointing for all of us. I ordered 3 hand rolls, Unagi, Ikura and yellowtail. I expected the Unagi to be a little sweet but it tasted like honey and rice, Yucks ! Then I got the Ikura and I was expecting more of an oceanic taste but it was again jam and rice, Yucks! The yellowtail was not better it was again too too sweet, Yucks! If I wanted desserts for dinner, I would have just bought a cake. As someone who has work in Japan, I can tell that was NO taste of Japan. YUKI = YUCKY 🤮

READ THIS: Me and my girlfriend visited Yuki Handroll Bar on August 17 at 6 pm for her birthday dinner. Servers were professional—this feedback is solely about the kitchen crew. We noticed repeated eye rolls towards us, smiles that disappeared as staff turned away, and an abrupt hand-roll gesture. The kitchen crew is extremely unprofessional and the seating proximity made private conversation difficult. We still tipped well to protect the server’s effort. This is about awareness and unfortunately, this was our worst dining experience ever. We’ll never come back due to the unprofessional kitchen crew. I hope management (Jun Kim, Hyo Lim, John Kim, and Ben Yoo) take accountability and address the hospitality culture at the counter.

If you’re looking for authentic sushi, this is definitely not the place to go. Very disappointed. I’ve never been to a hand roll bar where all of my selections were brought out at once. Typically, it’s given to me one by one as I’m eating. Because of this reason my unagi came cold. Another thing to note, these nigiri pieces are huge and not in a good way. When looking at the menu I had wondered why the nigiri cost almost as much or the same as the hand rolls, now it makes sense. It seems that they pay more attention to detail with the nigiri as they were dressed to look appealing but the taste was subpar. The hand rolls on the other hand were just cuts of fish rolled in their special green tea rice, nothing really special.

Very disappointed with second visit I went to Yuki a few months back for my birthday and really enjoyed the food. The rolls were delicious and service was good. I just went back and had a very different experience. The rolls were so disappointing, there was barely any fish and no rice in them. The service was also much worse. Here are pictures of the rolls the last time, and then the first visit.

For us to be in 2026, do better. I was fooled by the social media accounts of Austin. While I understand the food scene in Austin is no where near as good as Houston, but pleasseee for the love of god, work on customer service. Especially at a sushi place. Both waiters barely acknowledged me When it was time to order, the waiter didn't even bother to ask me what I wanted. After my friend had ordered, he had walked away. And I looked at my friend saying it loud, "he just completely skipped me". Like damn. When he was close by, I flagged him and said "You skipped me" *in a very very nice voice* and he had responded "You didn't fill out your form, I had figured you were still looking". Look, I get that, but still ask???? Like "are you still looking or are you ready?" Asked my friend if she wanted more sushi but didn't bother to ask me. Helluuuuur??? I got the 4 set handroll Toro Salmon Yellowtail (daily special) Crab The texture of the nori felt so old that when you take your first bite, you're tearing it away. Versus a crispy one bite. Bite after bite, felt like a disappointment. After my friend had been asked for anymore sushi, she happily said no. And I quote "I don't want to pay for anymore mid sushi" You're better off getting the nigiri or sashimi as the size of the fish is bigger than most. But hey, I didn't get asked for more and I agreed, my friend was right. The tip reflected on the service and I hate that, but if you give shitty service, don't expect a 15% tip. I said what I said.

This is THE nastiest sushi in all of Austin. The other reviews have to be paid. It’s not even in the top 20 in Austin. PLEASE, go to Endo Tei or Blue Sushi Sake Grill. The staff don’t wash their hands, the sushi chefs are very inexperienced for the price you pay for, have no knife skills (they don’t want to pay a sushi chef salary so they hire people in their early 20s yet you pay for sushi chef quality.) It’s extremely difficult to eat for anyone over 5 foot because the tables are so low. You do not get what you pay for in terms of quality and experience. If you want a $150 mediocre date night, come to Yuki Handroll Bar.
