Opinions de Kuzina - The Greek Kitchen Avenel
Their food is phenomenal. I don’t understand why this place gets such sub par reviews. Yes, I’m not greek, but I’ve had many greek places on the island and none of them are as fresh and good quality as this place. The meat is always juicy and fresh, never dry or oily like in other places. I’ve been to other greek places where the meat was literally rotten from sitting out all day. I also love the lemon potatoes and the mustard mayo! Will continue to get my greek food from Kuzina for years to come!
Personally, I am not into Greek food, but family loves it. They placed an order and went to pick it up . I was pleased to see that the place was very busy, so I thought the food was good, but when I got home my family was very pleased with their food that they would definitely would come again
Great food, I had the lamb gyro sandwich. A good size. It's not too big, like other gyros. I'm definitely ordering it again
Absolutely delicious!!!! All the meals were fresh and delicious. Soooo good we are planning on our next order and to try some different items. Definitely check them out.
My immediate go to for fresh Greek food here on the island. I cross over half the island to come pick this up myself, but they do deliver! Always polite and fast service and delicious food.
The service is wonderful and the food is delicious and definitely I'll back.
This is the best Greek food in Staten island. The gyros are the closes thing to real Greek gyros I have ever had in the united states. They are made with real pork meat just like in Greece. Lamb gyros are Turkish.
In town for business. Stopped by 10/26/17 around 7:20pm. This place has incredibly amazing staff. And the chicken I ordered which came with a salad and rice was so delicious.
Awesome take out spot for Greek food.
The food was so fresh. Ready on time. And nice portions. So good!!!!!

Ordered for the first time last night—food was really good and great experience :) Got the chicken gyro platter and regular gyro platter (both with rice which was very good), Greek fries, and stuffed grape leaves—all great. Even the side salads were tasty—like good enough to order on their own if you wanted. Delivery IS long (45-60 min) but they were upfront about the time and delivered within the window they claimed. 10/10 would order again.
I order from here all the time and recommend them to friends. Best Greek food around
Delicious gyros packed with generous amounts of flavorful meat with fries in it giving an extra treat. The service /staff are great and friendly. I once had my order a bit late. They apologized immediately and were kind enough to throw in a small bakalava...wich was tasty. Will be going back soon.
The food is great. Everything taste fresh and clean. I don't believe you can sit inside, it looks like standing/high top tables only. The prices are reasonable and the portions are good as well. It can sometimes take a while to get the food, but it always seems like any delay is due to how busy they are - quality makes it worth the wait though.
Today I stopped by for a tiropita (cheese pie) . Surprisingly, they had a special offer for a FREE frappe (Greek iced coffee). Making a frappe may seem easy enough but you really have to know how to blend the ingredients. IT WAS PERFECTION!! Like being in Greece!
Went to pick up a free frappe special that they had today. The owner Katerina was so friendly and made my frappe perfectly! I also ordered a spinach pie and a cheese pie for my mom. Both were delicious!
Always super impressed with the consistency and freshness of everything this place does. Extremely tender, flavorful lamb and chicken. Then couple that with some high quality, fresh produce and you got yourself a great gyro. Safe to say I order at least once a week and will not be stopping in near future. Highly recommend!
Love Kuzina!!! Everything is cooked fresh to perfection!!! Generous portions!! Staff is helpful and friendly!

Delicious fresh food always made to order. Try the marouli salad and the something Greek pita sandwich. Also can't go wrong with any of the dips! The place is tiny but spotless. Staff is always friendly. Much needed addition to dining offerings on the south shore.
I like it because the quality of food is good. It tastes like the Greek food my family has always made. My dislikes: delivery time was crazy long, and the cost was a little higher than I like for take out. Will I eat there again? Definitely, like I said: it was good food 🍽
Excellent Food ... Excellent Service Disappointed with the overall place as I thought it was a dine-in restaurant, when all it is, is a place to pick up your order. When I pulled in the parking lot I couldn't even see the name. When I looked at this place I thought it was a pizzeria takeout. I had to look on Google Maps to see if it was nearby. Crazyyyyyy this was the place.
As most reviews have already pointed out, this place has very small portions but other than that - everything else is great!!! Always great service, always immaculate, and the food itself tastes great....so I give it a 4 out of 5....they could be a 5 out of 5 in my eyes if they just made the portions a little bigger
Great stuffed grape leaves; good gyros. Get the stewed lima or green bean appetizer - really great. Gyro platters also very worthwhile.
I would really give them a 4.5 stars if I could, and the only reason it’s not 5 is because the delivery does take a long time (I live 5 min away and wait an hour and a half for delivery). However, regardless of delivery time, hands down the BEST Greek food on the island (and this is coming from a certified Greek). Usually comes hot and fresh also. The gyro is good, chicken souvlakia is perfect, and the Greek style fries are a dream. I could eat this food every day and not get sick of it.

I've got food from here a few time's, it's not bad. Unfortunately the portion's are paltry particularly meat which they skimp on, usually served on mini skewers fit for a kids meal. When I really want authentic Greek food with the typically Hardy portions made lovingly, I drive right past this restaurant and go an extra few miles to "How Greek it is" on Hylan Blvd.
Food is tasty and fresh BUT portions are CONSIDERABLY smaller than what we get served at Sparta and Meze in Brooklyn. Young lady behind the counter is VERY pleasant. Sadly, they give you only one small portion (1 ounce cup?) of tzatziki, not enough for a platter/meal. Come on people... we're talking about about a quarter's worth of yogurt and cucumber here! For a $13 platter, I deserve enough tzatziki for the entire meal. Have eaten there four times but they need to address the issues I stated here... soon.
This restaurant serves good food The gyros here are pretty good Portion size is a little bit smaller than most But food is pretty good, place is clean and staff are friendly and professional Only thing is if you want a 2nd cup of white sauce they want to charge you extra money
Strange place with not a good mood stuff .. I waited 15 mins to get my gyro .. and after all it was a sloppy one .. The only part was ok the chicken itself .. which anybody can do at home for much cheaper )))

The food is pretty good but they need to get their act together. First time we ordered it took over an hour and a half. No apology. Now we did pick up which said 15-20 anf we are going on a half hour. Ridiculous.
can’t really call it greek food when the people who cook it are hispanic, but that’s besides the point, i ordered a chicken souvlaki platter and everything was very dry
Usually the food in Kuzina is great but tonight subpar and I was extremely disappointed. First off I ordered online using whereyoueat.com which is on their website, long story short it took 2hrs to get my food. The food was cold, the fries were soggy and the tomato salad was filled with liquid from sitting so long. I called the restaurant after the 1st hr and was told the delivery guy was experiencing traffic, which is understandable. After an additional half hour I called again and asked if all was ok with my order in which I was placed on hold so the person who answered can speak to the manager. They again blamed it on traffic and said my order is not the only order being delivered... of course I know this, but I simply reply saying I live only 1 mile away and even in traffic the food should not take an hr and a half to be delivered. Well, 2hrs later and the delivery guy came and was so apologetic. I did not blame him at all and figured the restaurant was just backed up. Needless to say customer service was lacking and super disappointing to me as a loyal customer of theirs. No offer of comping anything, no apologies. Maybe it was just a bad night? But for the amt of money I spent maybe a little bit more could've been done.
Meh... Lemon potatoes were okay. Lamb and chicken was average. I honestly expected a place that advertised authentic Greek cuisine to be at least par with Mikes dinner. Next time I'll save myself $25 and buy from the cart in Eltingville.

I ordered a salad with pork souvlaki. The salad didn’t come with dressing & the pork couldn’t be drier, needed water to wash it down. Greek salads can be so good, this fell so short. After a few bites of salad I found a long brown hair. Needless to say, I threw the salad it in the garbage. I also ordered two gyro sandwiches and received one tzatziki sauce. It would make sense to send one per order.

First time order. Extremely disappointed with service and delivery. Ordered at 2:54pm. Two sandwiches arrived at 3:52pm and cold. Live around the corner.
We’ve ordered from them a bunch of other time’s and it’s never great but this time the Chicken in the gyro was hard and dry . Definitely didn’t seem fresh at all . For the price’s they charge food should be much better definitely don’t suggest this place !!
It was the worst Greek food I have ever been exposed too. The spanakopita was small, very little feta, tasteless and made with frozen spinach. The fries were soggy and tasteless. The shrimp special was a cross between rice a roni meets Spanish tomato sauce poured over frozen shrimp. The Greek salad was the most tolerable item we had. Would rather have a colonoscopy than eat there again.
Bad customer service Even the one on Hylan blvd Ordered multiple times and the orders never come in right and when you try to get the order fixed they will throw you out without a refund all Kuzina need to be closed walked in seen a mouse by the bathroom spoke to the order he said it’s not my business and to get out place is filthy in the back wouldn’t order from here anymore with rodents around
Food was very dry and for $13 a platter,I think I got maybe 7-8 thin pieces of gyro meat. Too pricy for portion size. Salad was done in three bites. My wife had the chicken gyro platter and same thing. Hardly any meat.
Ordered a gyro platter received chicken that was dry as could be. Love Greek food and always try to give them a chance but always disappointed.
I was there about a year ago the food used to be great but this place has changed so much for the worst. Behind the counter were two females dipping into a large bucket of taziki sauce with a spoon filling small containers for to go. One of them was not wearing face covering. Neither one had gloves on. I ordered two gyros and a french fries. The french fries was horrible, it tasted like it was cooked in oil that wasn't changed for over a month, i can't describe the taste. Order gyros if you want to get heartburn, the lamb overcooked and saturated in oil. The only good things were the taziki sauce, pita bread, onions and tomatoes. Half a gyro was eaten and the remainder went to garbage.
If I could give zero stars I would. Ordered on where you eat.com where it’s specified 40 minutes wait. I called the restaurant after 50 minutes for an update and the girl said that delivery is about 1- 1.5 hours ! Imagine waiting an hour an a half for a spinach pie and fries. When it finally arrived I was very disappointed. The fries were soggy and the spinach pie was dreadfully small and thin. And to top it off, they forgot the tzikzki sauce. Never again
This was the first time I ordered from here, I was excited to order from a real Greek restaurant, so my husband ordered the chicken gyro platter and I ordered the gyro platter. I ordered on line which was very easy, but when I sat down and opened up the dinner, what a disappointment!!! The gyro meat was thinly sliced, I've never seen such small thin little pieces! I should've ordered from a diner! There was nothing substantial about this meal! 25$ and I got mostly rice, and a small amount of pita bread between the two of us! For shame on this "restaurant " charging so much for so little, Im wondering where all the good reviews are coming from? Family members? They are misleading! I will never order here again! So I'm out 27$ (tax ), live and learn, I just hate disappointments!
If I could give it negative stars I would so I had to give it a 1 star and I feel that was too much . This was my first time ordering from here and it will be my last time. Placed an order and after 2 hours of waiting for it to be delivered we called to see where our food was and they said it was delivered and I said no one ever came to my house . Well they called the delivery person and they not only delivered it to the wrong address, the wrong street and in the wrong zip code. We placed the order online so how can they not even get my address right especially with technology today . Had to wait again for food to be delivered . Needless to say the food didn’t come until after 9pm. Even during the height of the pandemic I have never had to deal with this . This place lost my business for good . I will not ever try it again.
I’ve given this place too many chances and this was the final straw…there was mold on my food! This place cannot get it together. Not only is their delivery time ridiculous, the food is mediocre and not even good half the time. I wish the island had a different Greek option because this place just sucks all around. Such a shame

I have tried this place about 5 different times now just hoping it would get better and it has not even a little. How they charge you an entire dollar for a tiny cup of red wine vinegar is beyond me. No lemon given for the pork and it desperately needs it. I’ve tried the pork gyro, slouvoki and rotisserie and CONSISTENTLY the meat is bone dry like wood as someone else said no matter what kind you get from here. I’m literally writing this review and only went to look because I had to see that someone else agreed. I don’t understand how you can have such dry dry food, even the fries are dry. It’s a shame there’s not many Greek places on the island and How Greek it is is no longer here. Save your money. Never again. The tzatziki and pita are great depending on the day but once again so over priced for how little tzatziki you get.
Kuzina Kitchen is a ripoff. I’ve been ordering from Kuzina Kitchen for a long time, but enough is enough. The Greek chicken gyro bowl is overpriced and skimpy—feels like they cut up 1 single chicken thigh and tossed it over rice. It's not filling, not worth the price, about $20, and quality has steadily gone downhill. Today, they forgot part of the order, hummus. I called and was told someone would bring it out. An hour and a half later—nothing. I called again, and they acted like it was the first they were hearing about it. No accountability, no follow-through, and not even a basic apology. I asked for a refund and still got zero acknowledgment that they messed up. I used to be a regular, but they’ve made it clear they don’t value repeat customers. Sloppy food, sloppy service. I'm done. I'm avtuwlly mad at myself for ordering from this place as long as I have.
The service here is horrible! When I went to pick up my food, the girl at the counter was incredibly rude. I checked my order and noticed that items were missing. She yelled at me that they didn’t need my business and told me never to come back. Believe me, I won’t! The food isn’t good enough to make up for abusive staff.
It is a shame. This place could be a good spot but I asked to use their restroom and they said they didn't have one. Curious where the cooks and cashier use the bathroom and wash their hands. I was not someone off the street. I was with my family. The worst part is I went to the taqueria restaurant a few doors down and was denied and told only paying costumers can use their restroom. A few minutes later the same cashier that told me I couldn't use the bathroom in the taqueria, brought food into Kuzina. The restaurants must work together so technically I was a paying costumer! The cashier looked at me and walked right out. He should be ashamed of himself. I just don't understand how you serve food, have a place to sit and no bathroom for paid costumers. I will NEVER eat at this place or the Taqueria next door.
First time trying. I have to say very disappointed. Order souvlaki skewers. The pork one was dry like wood, the chicken was dry and lacked flavor and the beef was absolutely horrible. The shrimp souvlaki were ice cold and the size of a quarter. The only saving grace was the beans and potatoes. Would not recommend this place unless you want dry tasteless food.
The customer service and food are disgusting. I received my delivery after an hour and a half, in which caused my food to be completely cold. I looked past it and took a bite out of my chicken gyro platter and immediately noticed I received grilled chicken instead of the typical gyro chicken (rotisserie). I called and spoke with a so called manager and was told that there’s nothing he can do and refused to give me a refund. He explained he can give a store credit but after paying over $20 for a lunch meal, I wanted my money back. He tells me that they don’t do refunds and it says it on my receipt, the one I got after my food was delivered and paid for. How would I have known? Never going to order there again. Horrible customer service and food. Reported them to the city and will most definitely advise people not to go there.
