I've been coming here most of my life and now come regularly with my kids. They have a nice variety of food, including a really great veggie burger. Prices are reasonable, but you can find lots of coupons online. Their rewards app is very generous and the points app up fast. One of the biggest positives though is the costumer service policy - mistakes have been made occasionally on our orders and the staff always correct it immediately. Sometimes we've had questions using a coupon and a manager is always readily available. I hope this place continues to serve great food and provide a wonderful family experience.

I've been enjoying Tom Wahl's since I sent to college nearby 30 years ago, and we still love it, now with our kids. We always try to visit whenever we are in town. Classic good food and frosty mug root beer ... so glad they haven't changed a thing!

I've never heard of this place let alone eat here, so this was a spot that I definitely wanted to try once I found it on Google! The food was absolutely delicious, the staff was friendly, the place was clean and they had a staff member constantly coming around to disinfect the tables and chairs and doors and everything they she could disinfect!! Definitely 10/10 recommend this place!

I love the 1950's diner experience. The menu is simple - hamburgers, hot dogs, fries and ice cream. Perfect place for an easygoing date. Prices are a little bit higher than McDs but tastes so much better.

I was kind of surprised learning about this place. I'm often in Geneseo New York launching rockets. I'm usually looking for a place to eat after the launch. Someone suggested go up to Avon. Never really drove through Avon even though I'm in this area a lot. Some other rocket people said they were heading to this place called Tom Wahl's. I said where? So I just followed them. The place was like one of those Five Guy burgers places but with a much better variety of items and much more seating. Me and the kids ordered the Wahl burgers and love them. I could tell by the amount of napkins we used. The crinkle cut french fries seem just perfect in terms of having just the right amount of crispiness on the outside and a warm soft insides. The root beer float I had was reminiscence of the A&W drive ins but no frosty mug, just a paper cup. I heard that this is now a chain but some of the customers thought this was perhaps the original as they had some old pictures on the wall. I'm not sure. I'll have to do more research. Nevertheless this is a nice stop if you're traveling through the Finger Lakes regions of New York State along Interstate 390 or maybe just a road trip out of Rochester downstate a little ways and of course if you're coming back from Geneseo New York from a rocket launch, stop here if you're hungry and you will be full afterwards.

I had the mushrooms and swiss and my husband had the Wahlburger, we both had French fries and he had a chocolate shake. He hadn't been there since he was a kid and remembered how good the shakes were, this was my first time and we both loved it and will be back again... Oh and thank you to the manager for the brooms you gave us, so many plans for Halloween.

Tom Wahl's is a Rochester institution. The handmade burgers are always amazing. Their Rochester-style meat-based hit sauce isn't the best around, but it is tailored to go well with the burgers and the big buns. Of course the old school 50s dinner vibe just says chill. The jukebox with the era's bubblegum pop playing adds to that whole feel.

Best burger, period! Make sure you get plenty of extra napkins as you will need them. Their BOGO coupon on burger makes this such an awesome deal. Anytime I go back through Rochester this is a must stop. The root beer is awesome and they should bottle and sell it. The hot sauce is great, I always get my burger with extra hot sauce, and then get some more on the side for my fries. You can pretty much always count on local kids working there and having some fun. This location is the best out of all the locations because the atmosphere and its kept very clean!

It’s been a long time since I last went to Tom Wahl’s and it was so yummy! I ordered the 55 Junker Plate which is basically a garbage plate for those who know you know, they have a bunch of other things there like hamburgers, cheeseburgers, hot dogs and more! They also have ice cream and milkshakes, there is a lot of cool food there and they even have their own homemade root beer! The restaurant itself has a very retro style look and it feels like a step back in time! Very 50s! However the restaurant is generally very crowded so go earlier in the day or in the evening

Very nice place. Counter person was polite; atmosphere—fifties retro—clean and comfortable; food well prepared and tasty. Portions were right size—not too big or small. Perfect for two people. Bonus: nice outdoor picnic table set up for us and our dog. We highly recommend this place if you want good service and plain, clean no-frills place.

They offer a wrapped gluten-free bun (you add the burger to the bun). Highly recommend if you're celiac or gluten-free. The ice cream servings are huge, fair warning, a small will probably do the trick! Haha. The staff serving that night commented how they love witnessing customers' reactions when they see what a "medium" or "large" soft serve look like. They provided a fountain beverage cup just in case, so the ice cream wouldn't tumble to the ground! It was great fun!

The place is huge. The first time I came and got a garbage plate. It was alright. Fries a little on the Luke warm side and Mac salad was a little watery but it still tasted good and I understand they were quite busy because it was a weekend. The second time I came and got a fish fry. Everything was fantastic. The fish was great and fries were nice and hot and extra crispy. I highly recommend the fried cheese curds. They're really freakin good.

We go here all the time and love the onion rings and the cheeseburgers service. This time service was very very slow. Not sure what happened. Took over 18 minutes to get two cheeseburgers and an order onion rings.

Love this place but it's expensive so when you order food and don't get what you paid for its frustrating. Ordered 2 hot sauces for fries and they forgot the fries. So I paid for sauce and can't even use it. I recommend when doing pick up you double check the orders for accuracy. Came here as a visitor to the village of Avon (which is a great village) but this place will be a pass for us next time. Super greasy burger, which I know kind of makes a good burger ... but the whole bottom bun just turns to mush within a minute. Price is high, staff seemed all confused and all over the place, fries had no salt, and there just wasn't anything special about anything. I don't see what the draw is to go here besides the 50s vibe. I think if you live here it's probably a great place as there's only so many options.

Even this place has fallen victim to money. The only concern is getting it in and getting the customer out. Wahlberger was meh at best. Out of ketchup, out of Rootbeer 🙄. Floor by the bathrooms has paper towels laying everywhere and the employee that was walking into the bathroom as I was walking out couldn't be bothered to pick them up and before you say he's probably not cleaning staff...everyone is everything. I walked to the counter and ordered 2 floats, guy and if that's all, I told him that was... he directed me to the I've cream counter where the line was 5 deep. while I waited to get to the counter he walked over and asked them to make him a small shake which he recieved before I got to the counter... tie is garbage, his name wasn't shown but I added a pic hopefully (3rd pic in red) he can recieve some remedial training on customer service

I previously had an outstanding review which I have now deleted . I have never had a worse fish fry and hamburger. Do not know what has happened to this place, but it is not the Tom Wahls I remember. The fish was so overcooked that it was like eating shoe leather, the hamburger so dry it had to be washed down with water at each bite. Shame on the manager.

Honestly, Tom Wahl’s was a big disappointment. The food reminded me of elementary school cafeteria lunches — bland and underwhelming. The burger had no real flavor, and the chili cheese fries were pretty forgettable. The only real highlight was the homemade root beer, which was actually really good. Overall, the place feels very overrated. Based on this experience, I wouldn’t come back.

Ask for a cheeseburger with everything on it. I got a plain cheeseburger! When I went to the counter, your DEI hire couldn’t figure out what was missing. I ended up grabbing the burger back from him. If you’re going to put someone on the counter, TRAIN them first!

Asked for a veggie plate and have a slice of raw meat and blood soaked in to the fries. Refused to put a manager on the phone, Refused to give a refund, called me a liar and we had to drive 30 minutes back to prove that raw meat was served to us. Will never eat a Tom Wahls again.

Stopped in here for the first time, from Texas. I ordered the cheddar jalapeño burger, and my wife got the grilled chicken sandwich. Mine was extremely bland. There was absolutely no heat to the Jalapeños. And, the burger had no seasoning on it. Seemed like a smash burger without all the flavor. The chicken sandwich was baked chicken, with no flavor as well. Very boring and tastless... Fries were edible, though. Definitely not coming back to one of these restaurants. Really hope it is not a sign for how thr food is up here.
