Of all the restaurants I visit frequently, the VT is my special baby. Though nearly always full and bustling, the staff find a way to make us feel as if we’re their valued customer. They’re gregarious without being pretentious, and there’s nothing fake about the whole dining experience. Best yet, the food is both intriguing and consistent, an almost impossible combination. They have earned my loyalty a hundred times over.
It is a great atmosphere to go and enjoy friends and family! The food is fantastic, and the service is excellent! Glad to have the Tavern in the town of Geneseo!
First place we tried was closed due to refinishing their floors, a simple closed sign in the window would of helped those of us that kept pulling on your door. Oh well we expanded our search and found the Village Tavern. Sat at the bar and was assisted in choosing one of the many drafts along with a great double bacon and cheese burger. Beer, bacon and melted cheese along side an awesome dinner salad. Thank you for a great meal and cold brews.
Comfortable environment, comfort food, fabulous service! Loaded tater tots! Oh, my gosh! Delicious! Fattening! Yum! From the bison burger special which was devoured in record time, the chicken tenders described as "best ever", the burger lover who said out of 5 counties of burger joints that he'd come back here, we were all pleased with our food. I can't recall our server's name, uniquely spelled, she was fabulous. We are quite the bunch with quite a load of personality, she handled us like a pro and joined right in with our goofiness. A few special requests for the fussy one in the group didn't phase her, she made a few suggestions and was so much fun we wanted to invite her to sit down and join us. The food was great, but she made the visit fabulous and one we will remember and compare others to. She needs a raise for putting up with customers like us! 😆
The food and drinks were amazing! We ordered burgers and margaritas. The burgers were cooked to perfection. We also shared our fries, chips, tater tots, and poutine - all delicious. Unfortunately we were too full to order dessert. I will definitely return when I’m in the area again. Our waiter was Dylan and he was the best! He was very friendly and made our experience one to remember. 😀
Friendly place with superior service - went out of their way to make our visit a pleasant experience. Some of our group had been here many times - it was my first time there and it was a very comfortable atmosphere. Will return when we travel to the area.
Really good food and fast service. We had our drinks ordered right-a-way and our food order soon after that. They were busy too, so I was pleasantly surprised. Update Went back there again. Same great food and service! I liked sitting outside this time.
Incredible food. Had the pickle chips, ahi power bowl, and peanut butter cheesecake. Passing through town for work and this is one of the best meals I’ve had in a while! Service was outstanding as well. There are healthy options as well as “treat yourself” options.
We were in the area looking for a place to eat and thought of this place from years ago. It was just as I remembered, great food and drinks in a casual atmosphere. The Chef and the Bartender definitely have their acts together. Shout out to Mattie, Maddie, She's great too...
5th trip. Still consistently good. Great apps. Looking forward to my next visit. Third trip back. Never disappointed. Tried the MooShoo chicken egg roll app. Absolutely delicious. The teriyaki dip made it even better. Tried the cheese steak chowder. Yes cheese steak .....again a great chowder almost a bisque. Had the garlic Parm wings again. Still perfect. Can't wait to go back. Great bar food. The spinach dip and pitas were so creamy and excellent. The chix wings garlic parmesan were crisp, meaty and tender. Nice selection of beers on tap. Plenty of seating in and out. Clean. Lots of parking. I will be back. 4th time back. Everything was perfect. Mushroom cream soup with lots of mushrooms and tasty cream soup. Smoked wings medium heat. Perfect level of smoke, tender and great flavor. Turkey club on wheat with onion rings. Real turkey, real good. Onion rings not greasy. Never a bad meal. Back again (5th time) and another great meal. Food is consistently good.
Noisy, fun place. The food was delicious. Our server Marissa was absolutely FANTASTIC! Super friendly and knowledgeable. She made us feel like beloved regulars on our first visit.
Pretzel sticks were great. Tried both the house cheese sauce and the mustard, and both were better than even anticipated. Our server Charlotte had great suggestions (get lettuce and the southwest dressing with the filet steak bowl, you won't regret it.) The fries and onion rings baskets were plentiful and inexpensive as well as house made. Wonderful experience for having stopped by at random. The atmosphere was upbeat, and friendly with a nice mix of chill music for a nice afternoon. Such a nice stop.
Visited twice while in area. Stuffed pita was awesome. Fish sandwich was ok but others with me had the fish fry where the fish in the dinner was better. Nice neighborhood bar/restaurant atmosphere.
DELICIOUS DELICIOUS DELICIOUS Anyway it was pretty dang good. The homemade Bleu cheese is tasty.
I don’t normally leave Google reviews but I had to for this place! Delicious food, amazing service, amazing music. The buffalo chicken wrap was soooo good! Overall highly recommend!
Best French dip I've ever had. All of our food was fresh, hot and outstanding. The service was immediate and very friendly. We've discovered a new favorite place.
Great service. All the food was fantastic. A perfect place to eat when visiting the area.
Always pleasant, food is always delicious, (my favorite is their gouda burger and I get it with loaded fries. U must try their burgers, I was impressed the first time i tried them and now I'm hooked. I'm a burger girl so this review comes with a great respect to them haha) and this village tavern never ceases to impress me. people are always so courteous. What more can I say? This place all around is a pleasant experience.
Great meal and REALLY friendly service. Comfortable indoor seating, and outdoor seating available. Definitely recommended!
Great local, pet-friendly restaurant, Brian was awesome -- very attentive, allergy aware for our family's various needs and all around a very attentive server.
Great place to grab a Friday Fish Fry! Huge portion in beer batter, homemade fries are out of this world! My only suggestion is they make their own coleslaw (it’s cheap & tastes better that way). 9/10 from me
Great place greatservice. Had chicken sandwich yum. Wife had apple sandwich yum
I love the relaxed atmosphere and the friendly wait staff. Kids to seniors can find something on the menu. I've not had a bad meal there in 15 years.
The best burger I've ever had. Service was excellent.
Lunch with a friend was delicious 😋. Handicapped access and plenty of parking. Specials all looked and sounded great. Drinks were good as well. Clean tables excellent waitress and food was spot on. Highly recommend 👌
I have lived in Geneseo for almost 10 years now. The Tavern is by far my favorite place to eat. I always bring my family and friends. So many reasons for a five star rating. 1. Beer....they are always more than happy to give you samples. They are so many wonderful beers on tap. I enjoy seeing beer that is made from all of the country. Last night they had a beer that was made in my home town BEACON NY. HOW FUN. 2. THE STAFF I AM WRITING THIS IS CAPS TO emphasize how much I like the staff. I have never had anything but happy and polite and knowledgeable server's. I tip well over 20 percent because the service is exceptional. 3. Pricing Because they are consistent and you can always have hot delicious food the pricing although may be a little high you get what you pay for and I don't mind paying a little more for exceptional and delicious food. 4. Give it try you won't regret it ♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡
All around great experience! Great food and service (Had the Tavern Club with fries). Would definitely recommend.
We have eaten here several times now and have always had a great experience. The food is delicious, the beer and drinks are great, the wait staff is friendly and does an excellent job, and the atmosphere is fantastic.
Neighborhood feel, friendly service, feel-good food. The atmosphere here is vibrant. There are multiple choices of craft beers and a variety of NA beers, too! The menu has plenty of good options and always seems to include something unexpected at a “tavern.” Great place to eat-in or take-out.
Awesome bar and grill, food was amazing and their tap had plenty of selection no matter what you prefer to drink! Highly recommend!
A great spot for yummy selections in Geneseo! Love the daily egg roll special! This time, it was crab rangoon! Outstanding! Great beer, good service, convenient location!
Amazing food reasonable prices. The best cheesecake I've ever had. Highly recommend
Awesome food. Service was friendly and attentive. Loved the outside seating!
Emma was absolutely fantastic! She made amazing suggestions! The filet/brie sliders and buttermilk chicken sandwich were delicious!!
Great place. 1st time here everything we ordered was great. Had the Antelope burger and egg rolls. They were awesome! Great customer service as well. Would definitely recommend and go back to this place.
Stopped by the Village Tavern for a late night dinner. It was a beautiful summer evening so we sat outside. The service was friendly and prompt. We both had wings and they were incredible. I had mild wings, which had a nice kick! My wife had the garlic parmesan wings, which were tasty!!! If you are traveling through the area I would highly recommend the Village Tavern!
We were absolutely blown away! I do believe his name is Dylan and he greeted us, and was our server. The beers were just wonderful, we got a cowboy burger, cooked to perfection and a buffalo chicken wrap. They do not lie about how good the onion rings are! And after all of that, saved room for the most incredible churro apple cheesecake I have ever had! Thank you village tavern for making us feel like locals!
Amazing!!!!!! The staff is so friendly. The menu is unique and so delicious! I got the Twisted Tavern wings. Best wings I have ever had. Totally worth the drive from Rochester. I also got homemade lemon blueberry cake. Sooooooo yummy. I can't say enough great things about this restaurant!
It's always evident when you have someone planning the menu who is a real foodie. Also, thanks for being dog friendly outside in the patio!!!
Stopped in for a late lunch after bringing the car into the shop. Service was very welcoming and efficient. Burger was great and the beer was cold. The waitress was fantastic, checked in but wasn’t hovering. Great vibe for a Saturday and the staff even handled rude college students with grace but also whisked them far away from the peace at the bar.
Very tasty soup of the day. The chicken burger and the salad was good as well. It's was busy, but we got a corner seat quickly.
Having myself a Camel burger. Yes I said a Camel burger. Not a Camel toe burger. A camel burger. Cooked to absolute rare perfection. Very similiar to beef in flavor and texture, but a bit different still. It has carmalized onions and smoked gouda cheese. It is seasoned with an Arabian spice profile. Nicely done here. Definitely recommend. I'm enjoying a Common Roots " Good Fortune" IPA along with it. A relatively local brew. It's an all day type of beer. Nicely compliments the burger.
The quesadilla was sooo good. Loved that you guys use banana peppers in them. Great experience. Also our waiter Dylan was awesome and super friendly. Definitely go here if you’re in Geneseo
Fantastic food and Drinks. We have been here before and come back when we come down this way. The menu is pretty well rounded with a selection of sandwiches, salads, burgers and finger foods. Any burger can be made a veggy burger or turkey burger as well so there is something for everyone. the service was top notch we had our food out within 15 minutes of ordering and our server was awesome. On top of all that the best part is the beer list all sorts of local and craft options with real variety if you like good beer this is the spot in Geneseo.
Good place to have great food in a casual, friendly atmosphere. Don’t know anything about the bar, but the food is wonderful. Had an antelope burger that was quite fantastic and unique. Large portions and friendly service. Shared a wonderful dessert and it was plenty for both of us. Recommend for lunch.
My sisters and I stopped here for lunch. It was game day for the Bills! The atmosphere was friendly and cheerful. Maybe a little rowdy - it's the Bills!!!! Our server, Dylan, was just the nicest! He was attentive without being too much. He answered questions we had about different dishes and was helpful. The food was great! From the garlic parm wings to the French dip....just yummy!
The Village Tavern in Geneseo is excellent! Always a go to for lunch while in Geneseo, I had the ahi tuna nachos and the fajita bowl, and both were absolutely delicious. The tuna nachos were fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared, and the fajita bowl was hearty, well-seasoned, and very satisfying. The atmosphere was welcoming, the service was friendly and attentive, and everything came out quickly. It’s easy to see why this is such a popular local spot. I’ll definitely be back and highly recommend it!
Absolutely an awesome place to go eat and have some refreshing beverages. I had the featured burger (was made of three different meats called the tri-blend) with Swiss cheese, mushrooms and bacon! Very good! 100% recommend!
This unassuming restaurant in Geneva offers an array of very good food. Our family has never had a bad meal there. They craft excellent cocktails and have a great selection of tap brews. Their burgers are well above average, the salads are great, their appetizers (ask about the egg roll of the day) do not disappoint, they make a good steak, the entries were all good, too. This last time we had a large party and there were no problems. It does well with the college kids and their parents and with locals.
The Tavern has been in Geneseo for 14 yrs or so, and every time I come to visit I stop in for at least 1 meal. All of their food is good but my recent wings tasted overdone. Their craft beer selection is pretty darn good! A rotating draft list keeps the options fresh.
We stopped at Village Tavern on our way home from Buffalo after the wing festival, and it did not disappoint! The reviews about the wings were spot on—we tried four different flavors and even brought home a container of their Tavern sauce. The rest of the food was also delicious, and we finished off with their homemade key lime pie, which was absolutely amazing. The service was great, and the staff were very friendly and welcoming. I only wish we lived closer because I would definitely be a regular customer!
I went to The Village Tavern, a place that, despite its name, has kale! I'm pretty sure I saw a kale leaf whisper to a shrimp in my power bowl that it was just a matter of time before they took over the world. The shrimp, bless its heart, just scuttled away in terror. The bowl was good, but I'm keeping my eyes peeled for any signs of a leafy-green uprising.
A very nice, small town "watering hole" that offers a great selection of drinks and some really good food! I can see why the locals enjoy this place, as the staff was very friendly and quick with relevant recommendations. After a full day of hiking and driving, we were ready for a big dinner. The French Onion soup was very hearty and rich, with lots of cheese. I thought it was delicious, but a couple staying at the same BNB made comments the next morning that they did not... They clearly don't know good soup! We also ordered the Smoked Wings and thought they were pretty much the perfect wing. Big, juicy, tender, full of flavor. I'm sad that they are 4 hours away from home! After some discussion, decided to order the Antelope Burger with onion rings as an entree. The server said it was a lot of burger and he was correct - topped with grilled pineapple AND pulled pork 🤩. Ordered medium and it came medium rare but was the perfect medium by the second bite - impressive! I double dip my onion rings when I make them at home and prefer a really crunchy ring, but these were lacking in the crunch. Still a great side, just wish they were a little more substantial. I wish I could remember the beer that I ordered, as I would recommend it. But I waited a little too long to write this review 😆 I would highly recommend a stop if you're in the area, or a quick detour if you're not too far away!
Nice establishment with indoor/outdoor seating. We sat at the bar, and the bartender was incredible. He provided us with some recommendations, seemed to really enjoy his job and engage with his patrons. You must get the smoked wings with medium sauce!! Or hot sauce. I'm serious. As someone who's from the wing capital, Buffalo, I have had my fairshare of wings, and these fell right in with some of my favorites. Get them! You'll thank me later. We also had their special, a bison burger. Heavy on the shallots for me but still a well cooked burger. Don't waste your time with the tater tots. They were not good. Overall, I really enjoyed my time here and would visit again if we were in the area.
My experience was fabulous! The drinks atthe bar delicious!!! I had the Smoked Old Fashion. The Bartenders both of them great, personalble and fun! The food. Oh wow. I had the special the Elk burger, tender cooked to perfection and the brie brought out the flavor. The food was phenomenal! Great place to check up with family and friends in a fun atmosphere with good drinks and great food.
Great pub fare. Lots of beer on tap. Lunch or dinner. I love the sandwiches, especially the pastrami Rueben. Try the fried pickles, onion rings and pretzel sticks. If you’re really hungry, the burgers hit the spot. I just had the detox salad with a citrus vinaigrette—fresh and delicious!
Hidden gem! The food is well prepared and always delicious. Specials rotate frequently and are unique. Prices seem reasonable and drinks are cheap but good! Downside is that the inside is always cold, and the atmosphere is not very cozy or inviting. Make sure to try their poutine and steak & blue salad!
The menu has a good mix of classic and creative options. I didn't like the apple pepper sandwich, but this is more due to me choosing the wrong item. My aunt and cousin's Reubens looked amazing as a well as the tots and fries. They have a great beer selection, but at the time I visited they did not have my first or second option in stock. Overall this restaurant is good for what it is. I would come back.
Ordered a steak salad. It was excellent however the salad comes as a head of romaine lettuce that you cut yourself wasn't a fan of that but other than that food and service was very good
Food was fresh and tasty. Service was good and prices quite reasonable .
Food is excellent from what I have ordered So far! Salads and chicken wings very good. Service is good but can always improve. Has a nice small town atmosphere.
Great food!! Super busy for lunch, we got there just before 1 and they only had one table left. Two burgers, chicken tenders and a beer for $80, so a little pricey for daily, but a perfect once in awhile treat 👌 will be returning!!
Food was good, amazing French onion soup. Very nice specials, but back room was cold. It was also very loud. It was hard to have a conversation with people at our table.
A lovely place with good food - we were there on the night before moving-in day at SUNY and the place was packed. But we didn't have e to wait. A sweet waitress took good care of us and the food came pretty quick. The dining room was okay, nothing special. Parking lot was overcrowded - but altogether they handled it very well.
Good spot to grab a drink and a bite, service was fine and the place felt comfortable enough for a quick stop
The Village Tavern was very nice. There was i side an outside seating. I recommend outside on a nice day. The food was delicious, the server was very attentive, and everyone was pleasant. I'd definitely eat there again, and the drink prices are awesome ! Definitely give it a try.
Better than average pub. Stopped by for lunch with the grandkids on a Saturday. The fairly loud atmosphere was good, allowing the kids to be as loud as they wanted without the grandparents getting worried about disrupting the place. The menu has all the usual pub favorites, and some interesting specials. I had the special Mac and cheese, which was topped with chicken tenders and bacon. It was delicious. And the portion was enormous. The kids loved the house made potato chips. My wife had a pastrami Reuben sandwich which she loved.
Good food but it's small inside and gets loud quickly.
Cozy local restaurant with pub food. I had the boneless wings l, which were good. My wife had a blackened chicken Ceasar salad, which she very much enjoyed. They also had a daily special of a vineson burger, which was very good. The service was great!
Great salad options. I visit for the salads. They have an amazing selection of salads that are always fresh, dinner sized and delicious. Had the worst fish of my life here. Wouldn't recommend it.
Village Tavern is located in Geneseeo NY. My partner and I visited the Tavern on a Friday to try a fish fry during the busy fish fry season. The parking lot is a nice large lot which has handicap parking along with a handicap ramp to lead the way into the restaurant. A large deck is located outside which offers tables and chairs to sit at when weather permits. The restaurant is small inside although tables are spaced with plenty of room for sharing a private meal and conversation. The bar room is large and is set inside tge dining room. Two restroom are located inside the DR and are both small and used for both genders. Our server immediately greeted us and let us choose the preferred table of choice. I suggest dining early on a Friday seeing as the indoor dining room is small. The server also took our drink orders immediately as well as presented us with the specials of the day. Both my partner and I ordered the broiled fish dinner which I highly reccomend. The fish fry entree comes with Cole slaw role and butter along with one side. I ordered the house salad which was a fresh arugula lettuce salad consisting of onion tomatoes cucumbers along with a tasty balsamic vinager salad dressing and was a nice sized. The broiled lemon fish was a large size nice and flaky with a taste of the right amount of lemon seasoning and butter. The fish entree was enough food to fill us both.
Food was amazing and absolutely creative with perfect pairings. Only gone twice, but the hostess is blatantly rude. Rolls eyes and just has a complete lack of people skills. Both times our waitress/waiter was fantastic. She however, really puts a damper on the visit.
Food was lackluster and they don't even offer fries with their burger. But they do offer chips but the chips are stale most of the time, the biggest plus was the cheesecake they offered. The cheesecake was actually pretty good.
The dinners we not as good as they sounded. The pulled pork on a roll was so fatty. The wagu burger was ok. The corn ceasar salad needed flavor. The waitress was good. Nice homey feeling inside. But not worth the 100 bucks for 3 people.
First and foremost, the food there is fantastic. It is my granddaughters favorite place to eat. On August 19th we decided to have lunch there. It was extremely busy as the college kids were back in town. We only had to wait a couple of minutes to be seated. We were directed to the back room along with a family of 5. This is where everything went down hill. We ordered before the family of 5. Long story short...the family ordered and was served before us. In fact...they ate, left, and the table was cleaned up and we still did not have our lunch. To add insult to injury, my burger was not cooked correctly. When ordering I told the waitress that the burger could be burned and I still would eat it. After biting into it...it was pink in the middle. I did not finish it. I never got the bill and I was done. Someone helped with checking me out. Very disappointed.
For the first time, I was very disappointed in the food. A friend and I placed an order for pick up. Although it was Friday at 6pm, our order was done in 20 minutes…. fish fry, ff, boneless wings. After taking the food home, my friend’s wings were bone-in, so required going back to the Tavern for boneless. Wings were supposed to be Country sweet but turned out to be quite hot and therefore not edible. My fish fry was tasteless and the fries were overcooked. Have never had a tasteless fish fry and was very disappointed. $40.00 was way too much for this food.
I’ve had really good broiled fish at the Tavern but today the fish was so salty we couldn’t eat it! Tater tots and french fries were delicious.
Not sure I have ever felt so unwelcome anywhere. The bartender seemed angry, and made it clear. Maybe if you aren’t a local you’re not welcome? I was really looking forward to seeing this place as my friends recommended it.
I felt incredibly uncomfortable and unwelcome. The woman behind the bar seemed unhappy to serve me and the locals all know each other. Don’t often leave bad reviews but I felt really weird and just left without ordering food.
