Champs BBQ

I went in randomly with a friend to get dinner since it was the closest thing around and was pleasantly surprised! We were served by the lovely girl with pink hair, I believe her name was Brooklyn, and she made us feel so comfortable. I thoroughly enjoyed the back and forth banter we had. I could always appreciate a server who’s not only good at their job but also cares about the customers to make a connection. I’m excited to go back just because of Brooklyn, her energy was so contagious and made our dinner more fun. We also received our food pretty quickly and it was so good! I can’t wait to go back to try more things off the menu and see brooklyn again

Not sure why its only 4.1, but this place is awesome. Ordered the smokehouse burger, medium. It was really good. The staff was excellent and very friendly. Definitely worth coming back to if I am back in Bakersfield again.

Went on a recommendation from a friend..we ordered the combo platter..it was amazing!! definitely enough for 2..it had a little of everything and all delicious! we also had poutine..made perfectly! Our waitress,Jess..was friendly and so helpful in helping us with our order..and had a great smile! Also the prices were very reasonable!! Do stop by and enjoy!!

I had a double cheeseburger with fries, the Colossal Burger I think it’s called. The bomb. Fantastic! Huge hamburger patties. Fry’s are great. So wonderful for prices too. Clam chowder (white) was super!! I highly recommend this stop. A hidden gem!!

Stopped by for dinner and I was pleasantly impressed with the food. I ordered fried pickles which were delicious and it was paired with a creole dip and a ranch dip. For dinner I had a pulled pork plate and added a spare rib, had a side of potato salad and baked beans which the beans were really flavorful which is a plus. And my waitress gave great customer service as well. Only missed opportunity was the cornbread but with that I give this establishment a solid 4.5

First time trying out this place. It was ok. The chips and salsa were good, would have liked to get them as an appetizer like we ordered instead of at same time as we got our entrees. The sandwich was decent, little small for the price in my opinion. Staff was friendly place was a little bit disorganized, but it did look like a few bigger groups had just finished up before we got there.

Service and atmosphere is great at this place but they may have had a bad night on the food. Tri Tips were a bit under cooked and just cold. The waitresses here are very nice and attentive.

I'm not sure about bbq in California. I'm from Memphis where bbq is done rite. Yesterday I had the nachos, which was ok and today I had 1/3 rack of ribs, with slaw and mashed potatoes. I couldn't eat the slaw, it tasted like plain raw cabbage. The potatoes were good, the ribs were smoked lightly. They had a smoke ring but no smoke flavor. Usually my biggest complaint about ribs is they are over cooked and mushy. That isn't the case here. They are undercooked and are like Jerky. The people are nice. I will come back and try the burger tomorrow.

Food ok, but mac&cheese is runny and flavorless. Service is awful. One person servicing entire restaurant( NOT washing hands after handling checkout $$. Gross! And slow because she is only one there. Liked it better when you pay first & get own table. This new way is so slow.

I don't think they put anything in the mashies except potatoes. They were drier than a spoonful of sand in the desert. I didn't taste butter, cream, or even any salt at all. The gravy was an afterthought, lightly coating the top of my foam cup. Pickings in this area were slim, so I guess I understand why this place has been around so long. Then again, maybe they just had the B team working the kitchen today. I can't be sure. If you made those sides and you read this... do better

Expensive and not good at all. The ribs were a generous portion but kinda raw and tough. Not much taste either. This was a one and done for me.

Called at 5:22 to verify that they were open. Show up at 5:32 to the lady my friend talked to on the phone saying “Sorry hun we’re closed” and I said I had just called to make sure you were open. “I know but the owner called and told me to shut down.” Well, just lost out on 7 take out meals that I was taking back to Adventist and a couple drinks while I waited.
