Opinions de El Chilito Bakersfield Bakersfield
El Chilito has great food and atmosphere. It is a perfect “go to” for groups, and they did a fine job of adapting their menu for the vegetarian, too. Unlike the chain restaurants, they are a great neighborhood business—and the neighbors are happy that they are here!
Our first time here. I was very impressed by the exceptionally awesome service. Great size , not crowded. Drinks are awesome. The food was very tasty not too pricey will definitely return
I go to Chilito at least once every other week. I love their michelada and mendudo. If you're looking for a fun atmosphere, great food and really good menudo then definitely recommend. They also have great mariscos if you're looking for Mexican seafood. Great place!
They have awesome Tacos! I am a Vegan and they made me veggie Tacos! It had rice, beans, and fajita veggies in there. Amazing! Also for the side was beans and rice... No cheese! 😎
OMG! My husband and I went here for the first time! Michelada with the shrimp was amazing! Recommended highly!! Little bit of a wait but so worth it!! It was rush hour lunch! Olga was our server very sweet young lady. Loved her service!! El Chilito will be our go to place since we Love seafood!! Great vibe Bakersfield!!
My wife and I visited this restaurant a couple of weeks ago for the first time. That waitresses were extra nice the food was good and we got it all in a hurry very nice atmosphere we have recommended it to our friends and family we will be going back awesome place
Feels like I'm back in my beautiful Mexico. Incredible atmosphere and the food... Omg the drinks! Both are freaking delicious! All I wanted to do was take a bite and dance, then take another bite and dance some more, pero la fiera no me dejó que porque hago el ridículo. A mí se me hace que ahora sí la divorcio
Very friendly staff. Owner was very nice went to all the tables and checked on customers. Food was great. Wait times for tables vary but they try to seat people as soon as possible.
First time visit and it was not disappointing. Service was great. Food was excellent. Atmosphere was sublime. Will definitely be bringing the family back here soon.
The staff's ability to handle special occasions was remarkable. They went above and beyond to make our anniversary celebration truly memorable.
Jessica our waitress and accompanied staff were fantastic. The Molcajetes we had are the best in tiwn
Came here for some shrimp cocktail food was bomb Michelada’s were delicious 🤤 Our server Jessica was friendly and professional
I had the camaron tostada and the Veneno cocktail. Very good! Would definitely come back for a visit again. Service was good as well, friendly and attentive.
I love this place. I’m not usually into cocktails except for whiskey and coke but this place has the best drinks. The tóxico drink is delicious and so is the cantarito. The only thing I would change is the music they play until 2pm on the weekends. It’s like being stuck in an elevator 🤣
I was there on a date on a Friday night. We sat at the restaurant side [there's also a bar side) I had the camarones empanisados (breaded shrimp) she had tacos presidente. Food was delicious. They also have an extensive variety of drinks. The canelo Alvarez drinks were something new for us to try and they were very good. We were very satisfied with the service. We felt well taken care of even though place was full and busy.
Best chili rellenos I've ever had in my life. They have other great options too. Their Ceviche is also pretty good
Great food and even better service. We ate three different dishes and all three were phenomenal. Went on a Thursday night, not too busy, just right.
When I went to this spot, I only got a marischelada. The michelada was delicious! Not too spicy or sweet. It tasted perfect! The seafood tasted good but could have been better.
Best Authentic Mexican Restaurant in Town !!! OPEN LATE NIGHTS ! Drink was AMAZING! Waitresses are very sweet and helpful with drinks 🍹 The atmosphere here is the BEST ! And let me tell u they have THE BEST MEXICAN TACOS 🌮 IN THE GAME! The WET BURRITO WAS SO TASTEFUL AND THE RICE AND BEANS ARE THE BEST IVE EVER HAD I LOVE THISSS PLACEEEE COME HERE ASAP!
Amazing food and service also the music was great, ceviche was banging and the chilaquilles were too! Ask for the orange drink too it was really refreshing.
Shrimp taste a little simple, I ordered molcajete d mariscos ($36.00). For the price I think could have more seafood. Michelada taste ok, but price is super high ($17.00) only came with 5 shrimps and cucumber. Service was great! But prices are super high compared with other seafood restaurants I've been. I know seafood is expensive in mexican restaurants but portions are more generous and taste better!
Absolutely outstanding! From start to finish, my experience at El Chilito was exceptional. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, the staff were friendly and attentive, and every dish was tasting amazing. I especially loved the Sope sampler perfectly prepared and beautifully presented. You can really tell that the cooks take pride in their work and use top-quality ingredients. The drinks were also great and of course the micheladas are top tier as well. Whether you’re coming for a casual meal or a special occasion El Chilito delivers every time. I can’t wait to come back and try more of the menu. Highly recommended!
Our dining experience was excellent from start to finish. The food arrived promptly and tasted amazing — fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. Special shoutout to Andres, our waiter, who delivered exceptional service. He was respectful, attentive, and made sure every detail was just right. We’ll definitely be returning, and when we do, we’ll be asking for Andres again!
look i been here b4 and the service was ok 3 years later this place has not only some of the best margaritas but the service was preatty good not to mention the food was on point too but as u know if u go somewhere and the servuce dont match the food u may not want to come back so 4 that thank u for steping up your game on the service the drinks and def nlthe food
Hello everyone that want to try some very good food and refreshing drinks, A large variety of styles and flavors, A little messy for me but refreshing, the meal was very good I had the Carna Asada W/salad, rice, beans,&crinkle cut fries the meal came with grilled serrano peppers and Mexican green onions. The Mrs. had Menudo that she very much enjoyed(honey comb tripe). The service was very helpful, and were very happy to help. I will enjoy the Marisco Restaurant again soon.
Great place for delicious mexican food. The food was super appetizing. I had a brother come into town and asked me to take him back here. Bring your appetite because portions are filling. Food is similar to a cafe in Indianapolis I liked.
It's pretty good food and good drinks but over priced forsure !
While this place doesn't show up When I Google it because the name on the outside is different but The atmosphere is fantastic. They have a live d j Who interacts with the people that are eating. And I found the food to be just as good.
The food itself was okay. I love all seafood so it was good in that sense, but nothing special. The service was also okay, not rude but hard to catch our server after we received our food. The atmosphere made the night for me; the energy was great! The regulars were singing karaoke and hyping everyone up. It felt like being at someone’s house and everyone seemed to know each other.
As soon as the band started playing all personal conversations stopped due to the noise.
Honestly the Manager was the best!! Amazing customer service, humble, funny, and caring!! All the drinks were really good as well including non alcoholic drinks. Everything was good, only thing the torre de mariscos had no flavor maybe it was just today that was off but definitely will be coming back!!
We did notice the restaurant has a "B" which threw me off a bit usually we wouldn't eat somewhere that has a "B" or lower, but my husbands coworker recommended this place, so we gave it a try. Overall the experience was good. We got seated quickly, our waitress was awesome, she brought us tostadas & saltine crackers w/ salsa (kinda sad they didn't have chips & salsa) but our drinks got brought out to us quickly, my husband ordered an adios was good and had a good amount of alcohol, I ordered a margarita and well it was okay. Our food was brought out really quickly which was a surprise to us, my husband enjoyed his meal, mines was okay I enjoyed the salad and rice more then the fish. The music playing was really loud, we couldn't really have a conversation. Our waitress did check on us every once in awhile and made sure we were okay. I believe it was the waitress who made this a pleasant experience.
I gave him that score because: I ordered a michelada and a hair came out of it. Trainers need to be more careful. Of course they changed it for another drink. My experience was not good. 😔😔😔😔
The music was kind of in your face, they were polite enough to turn it down but it just kept me on edge. The food was ok but everything tasted the same. Id go again but it wouldn't be my first choice. Nice clean environment tho.
Great service and delicious drinks. I was not impressed by the food. However, I appreciate that their kitchen stays open late as we were looking for a late dinner on a Saturday night. I might try something different on the menu and hopefully change my mind.
The drinks food and staff are good but there was a fight inside when I was there. Staff should be more attentive of drunk and aggressive people. It made me want to leave. I liked the music and dancing, though.
I think they just over charge for there dishes. We ordered the 3 orders tacos governadores with only 3 tacos in each order to go. We were charged over $50.00, don't get me wrong they were good. When we arrive its not much of welcome to there restaurant you have to search for the waitress to get help. It just lacks in customer service at the main entrance.
The place is cute they have a good design. The cocktail drinks we ordered did not taste what was described. Services was not the best. The server seemed like she was annoyed we were there and we showed up at about 9:20. She couldnt split our check she couldnt switch a sinple drink request of coffee and every time we asked for a small item it seemed like we were pulling teeth.
I took a decent-sized group to surprise my nephew for his birthday. The hostess left my group hanging more than 5 times waiting for her to return with our order. Understandably, the restaurant started getting full. I don't believe she speaks or understands English which made communicating very difficult. Also, it could be that the music was too loud to hear us. The food was decent, nothing to brag about. My party was left wanting better service. The birthday attention was great and that's why I left a sizable tip.
To answer the owner who asked, our server was extremely rude. Didn't want to give me the drink I asked for until I had a different drink first because in his words, it would be too spicy for me. We were a large party, 7 people and he didn't ask about splitting the check until the very end. Then when he had to split the checks he was very irritated with us about it, even telling one person that it was their fault because he had to split it. I was the only one who liked my food. I'm general it was mainly the service that ruined it.
Not sure if new ownership but Service not good anymore food taste different. Waited 45mins to order food
2 micheladas and a molcajete for over $100 I understand inflation but I'm good and I was going to get charged for extra tortillas I didn't mind but I was already done when they had thrown them to heat up 25min later. The workers were good tho. This place is not worth the price
I've heard a lot of good things so I decided to try it... The service was terrible and slow... We ordered 2 margaritas at $13 each and could not drink them... They were so sour... The rice and beans were delicious... But the tacos and enchiladas were very disappointing... We did not eat the entrees or drink the margaritas... Waisted $80...
I went here for a few drinks celebrating a friend's birthday. I was told the waitress had to take my drink order. She charged me 32$ for a bucket of beer of 6. When I could have went to the bar and get the same bucket for much cheaper. I don't understand why I was charged so much for something I could if gotten myself.
Watery drinks, very expensive food with literally no affordable options. Nice service, they have karaoke. I would recommend the other Mexican place in the same parking lot for better food and stronger drinks, Los Panchos
I'm not sure if this establishment is run by New owners but my boyfriend & I went to have lunch and both our meals were not what it used to be. It did not taste good. It sucks because they have a good atmosphere but their food is not good & prices are high for what you get. We both decided to not come back.
Service was great, the food however is not . I ordered costillas & on my plate got 4 pieces of meat with a bunch of potatoes and onions in green sauce. Spent almost 80$ on 2 mechiladas & 2 meals we didn’t enjoy. Probably my last time eating here.
Very expensive, low quality. Fish and octopus tasted frozen, very rubbery. I should have known from the moment bagged chips and salsa from a jar was given to me. Absolutely terrible. Tried a paloma as well. It was made with sprite and no grapefruit. 13$ for a drink that tastes like the ice had melted before it was given to me.
Wayyyy too much money for vegetables. Seriously, you wanna pay 24$ for 12 shrimp or 20$ for barbeqoia plate then get 2 tortillas with a small chunk of meat and a bunch of vegetables. First time I’ve had to order two entrees and still left hungry. Go to Taco Bell and pay 20$ instead and save $100. Inflation is no excuse. I totally expected to pay what I paid, what I didn’t expect was to get half portions for full prices.
Overpriced mediocre food. They’ll claim because of inflation, but it’s just not worth spending your money here. I’d give negative stars if I could. Buyer Beware!!
I was told there would be a 20 minute wait to be seated. I sat there for 15 minutes with more than half the tables empty. No one left, but 15 minutes later they seated me. I think they were just hopi I would leave. Sad because when i was there before they were filled to capacity and i was seated and served within 10 minutes. Don't go on the weekend, the manager only schedules the losers who don't want to work.
First time I went there i got a spicy 7 mares and it was great. Today I order two spicy ones and they gave me regular ones not spicy. I called them they asked me to take them back. My friend ate his and I took mine back. I thought they were going to give me a new one but it turned out they dumped a ton of lemon and chili in the one I returned. I couldn't believe they actually used the one I returned and just dump a lot of chili in that one. If they made me go back why not give me a new one?
Never going back to this place. I went yesterday for lunch with my friend since it was her birthday she choose this place. Not only the restaurant had a C on the door and I wanted to step out but she insisted to stay. I ordered camarones a la diabla, they were ok. I ordered a tostada de camarón and it had an awful taste that I didn’t eat it. Also while we were eating a small baby roach was walking on our table. I felt so sick and especially from this place “well known” I expected it to be clean especially opening after the pandemic.
Shrimp wasn't properly prepared...The Waitress argued with me on the wrongful way my food was prepared trying hard to cover up the issue. Nobody informed her its not my first time eating seafood. Please train employees on how to properly prepare/cook seafood before serving it to customers. Thank you.
Before I give my review I understand that it's been tuff for restaurants due to the pandemic, regulations, having to cut back on staff or hire new staff. And I've been to this location many times. We came on 10/01/20 between 12:30p- 1:50p.But this was my first time in a while and our server was probably over whelmed. She was a younger hispanic girl with magnetic eyelashes is the best I can describe her. We had to ask several times for drinks, straws (which we never got) silverware which came in a drity stained bin and so did the limes. Her customer service was very poor and rude at some points. Our empanadas were very greasy and soggy, the shrimp in the micheladas were not cooked fully and took forever it get the drink. The fried fish was not crispy at all soggy as well. Also the chile relleno was slimy and full of grease and tasted like fish, the batter was good however. Now I still will visit this location but maybe in a few months once things go back to normal.
Food was overpriced for 2 plates of food one Machi and a soda was $100 . Rice was cold didn't have no flavor , beans cold. 😒 When asked for The receipt that guy never brought it. Never will I go BACK!!! Dec 3 2023.
Don't waste your time here. My friends and I waited 20-25 minutes to order drinks. the first server came and asked us what we wanted and didn't see her for the rest of the night. The second server (his name was Javier) was very unprofessional. Cursed as he was talking to us. He seemed young but really? Kept coming back to repeat our orders about 3 times even though he wrote them down. One order was wrong. At the end when everyone was ready to pay he wrote down everything everyone orders. He charged my friend for my order. Blamed the system! He asked me to pay my friend the difference... as if it was my fault. He offered to give us a free michetorre for his mistake. When he came back he said he couldn't give it to us... worst experience ever! He needs to be trained!
Not pleased with neither the food I was served nor with the lack of knowledge of the server about food options available to vegetarian people. Waitress did not wait my table, did not offer refills or anything. I had heartburn for the rest of the day until I was able to have some hot tea. Where was the infamous chilito that is featured on every single dish on the menu? I do not recommend this place, not because of the food but because it lacks professionalism and gives poor customer service to its guests.
The food was so bad, I don't mind paying for good food but this was like microwaved food soggy and it tasted like its been in the fridge for days, not even the lemonade they had there was good.Maybe explore a food truck you get better quality. No, I am not mad :) but thank you for replying in a "professional manner".
Food is good but service is very poor. This is was our first time dinning in and the experience was quite disappointing. We waited about an hour to be seated and a few additional minutes to place our order. The waiter wouldn't come to check on us or anything. If we do return its definitely going to be for pick up only. (Their shrimp tacos "Presidente" with green sauce are quite good and their Horchata very good too)
It was our first time there, we got seated quickly. The hostess brought us the tostadas and saltiness crackers. After that nobody came to ask us for drinks or anything, we waited for 15 min and still no waitres or waiter came to our table. After 20min we just left. The worst experience.
We came in for our friends going away dinner, it was 30 people. So the waitress told us she would split the bill by tables. She didn’t know what she was doing took her like 2 hours to get everything situated, and added extra charges for no reason. On their menu or website it doesn’t say they charge 15% gratitude so it didn’t make sense because it was just 4 in a table of us so why did they charge us that damm bums. Never going back to this establishment.
The seafood was expensive ceviche platter 25 dollar and on top of that it’ was 110 degrees outside and the aguachiles were not even cold the food was warm good thing I did not get sick from the shrimp been raw and hot.
Worst Menudo I have tried in town. No flavor and spice. It had a strong odor of the tripe. I also tried there birria and it was simple, not much taste and was served warm not really hot, did not taste fresh. Service was okay. Noticed also they got a B rating by the health department. Based on location, service and food quality in my opinion it was also well over priced plates averaging $16-$23
Well you sit and eat they all watching all your moves couldn't not enjoy my drinks security with glasses on inside dark restaurant!!!! Just starring daughter tasted my drink and man ran over and said you can’t be drinking WOW!!! I told him take it NOT GOOD ANYWAYS !!!!!
1.They dont De-Vein there shrimp. If you’re like me and that’s an automatic NO for you then that’s all you need to know. 2. The lights they use outside attract a lot of mosquitoes, so much so that we couldn’t even finish our meal because they were crawling all over it. When we brought this to the attention of the manager her exact words were “I can’t give you a refund because I can’t control nature”. No, I guess you can’t but you can control where you place your seats, where you seat your costumers, and what type of lights you use. The waiters/waitresses were good but the manager just didn’t care.
The food is over priced and small portions. For a Mexican restaurant they also charge for chips and salsa.
I ordered the campechana and it had hardly any shrimp much less oysters or octopus or scallops. They’re great at taking your money but horrible at customer service. Their attitudes suck and the portions are minimal. We’ve had great Mexican food elsewhere with generous portions for the same price or cheaper despite the “economy.” The manager only cares about his profits and couldn’t care less about your dining experience or food quality. If you’re really hungry and want authentic, generous portions don’t come here, you’ll be sorely disappointed.
A group of us 4 people went to eat, sing karaoke and drink. My cousin who's a professional singer asked the dj for a specific song, dj refused to look for the song. My cousin tipped the dj (countdown) $100 to play for the song. The dj then began to argue with my cousin, he packed up his personal belongings and left the dj booth without saying a word to any of the guests he was dj-ing for. We are regular guest of el chilito on brundage and our guests have never been treated with such disrespect.
I always come to this place and never have I ever experienced the service I had today. This waitress was upset I don't know why. Her customer skills suck and honestly this lady should not even work there. She got mad cause she left 2 napkins on my table and I asked for more, like who counts the napkins? I told her I would pay for extra napkins. I also asked to do a to go order, which she never told the cooks at all. Then I asked for a manager and she said there was no manager, even though there was. I spoke with him, very kind young man. This lady proceeded to attack me verbally and had to be pushed away by the manager. I did call her names because I could no longer bare the service she was giving. I know you guys can do better. And I am not the only one with bad service from this waitress. I did not catch her name but she should not be a waitress. She proceeded to tell me I was no longer welcomed there. She was the one acting crazy and it sad because the last time I was there I spent about $300 on drinks and some appetizers. El Chilito, please do better. Que asco de servico y la mesera gritando como loca mientras yo hablaba con el manager.
Que comida tan mas Mala, cara y insipida! To expensive for all the veggies you get Negative stars are not available but this would be my first -5* We tried at least 5 dishes all are to sweet to br mariscos no spice no flavors all with like 6 shrimps and 4 lbs of cucumber and onions An honest review you have been warned
