My wife and I came for happy and got the calamari and railroad camp shrimp. The food was great. The calamari is a steak and is the most tender squid I have ever had. The shrimp wasn't as crisp as usual but still good. Our waiter Sergio was awesome. He was very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. The best waiter we have ever had here. This guy will take care of you. The only downside was that all they played on the house radio was country music. Not a fan. Overall great experience. Happy hour prices are a really good deal.

My husband and I went to dinner last night, (Monday evening) i ordered the joe steak dinner and my husband ordered the ribs and chicken dinner. Our appetizer was pan seared calamari. Came in here spur of the moment I haven't been in here in years! I ordered medium rare to my mistake and they were kind enough to cook a little bit longer to my satisfaction, totally my fault. Tahoe Joe’s meals are the best! From the complimentary rolls to the Joe’s Steak and decadent cheesecake, everything is delicious. The atmosphere is always warm, and the service at this location was friendly, prompt, and conscientious. I highly recommend it!

Tahoe Joe's is a staple in Bakersfield. The food is good, the atmosphere is relaxed, and it is always clean. They are also generous enough to support local organizations by helping out with fundraisers by way of selling meal tickets - which is the primary reason for this 5 star review. We enjoy just about everything about Tahoe Joe's - except the steak 🙈. Everything else seems to come out juicy and flavorful, but the steaks ("medium rare" in picture) have always been dry. Other than that, service and food are always top notch. Love eating here.

Its been 3 yrs since the last time I dine here. Have my favorite shrimp railroad campfire. Bloomin onions taste yummy and chicken salad. Service and food was great so Im happy.

The portions here are huge and the food is great. Sat at the bar for quicker service, even though our wait was only 15 mins for a table. I couldn't decide between 2 beers, so the bartender gave me a small taste of each.

We love Tahoe Joe’s and used to go to the Fresno location often, so we were excited to try the Bakersfield one. Even though it was busy on New Year’s Day and the kitchen was backed up, the staff never felt rushed. The manager (wish I knew her name!) was present, calm, and clearly had a plan—serious applause to her. Our waiter was great with our kids, very patient, and genuinely friendly. He knew the menu well and gave excellent recommendations. We ordered the railroad shrimp, crab cake dish, and ribeye, all of which were delicious. The kids’ burger was great too, and the cheesecake is still our favorite. We love Tahoe Joe’s and hope another location opens closer to us again. We’ll definitely be back when we’re in the area.

We had the best lunch ever. The Joe's steak, is a must try!!! So tender and flavorful. It was so good and the loaded baked potato and the green beans too. Everything was wonderful, including the bloody mary which comes with a beer chaser. The prices were good too, and they serve lunch on the weekend, which is nice.

The pastrami was barely warm as the same with most of the other food The fish taco was fine but that kind of coleslaw is very heavy and the fish was a little oily, but still had decent flavor I guess . Our server, a young man, was, I think a little stretched on tables, because. His attention was pretty skimpy. We always enjoy going there, and we do not usually sit out on the patio and the flies were just awful as with the mosquitoes too. One mediocre visit out of several terrific visits will not keep us from going back.

In the decade plus that Tahoe Joe's has been a part of the Bakersfield landscape I have never really liked it. As of recently, I believe that both their food and their service have gotten better, especially after covid. I appreciate the friendly staff, and the consistency at which all their food is delivered at high quality. I enjoy going there at least four or five times a year. It is a great place to go to celebrate, or just have a special meal.

My housemates and I like to eat at Tahoe Joe's when we are in the mood for a steak dinner. However, me and another person ordered salmon instead of steak. The other two ordered steak. We ordered two appetizers; One was spinach dip with chips and the other was the shrimp dish. The spinach was yummy, hot and melty. Unfortunately, I don't eat shellfish; I can't comment on it, but the others loved it. The salmon was cooked perfectly as was the baked potato and broccoli. Since I loaded up on the spinach dip, most of my entree was boxed up for a later time. My friend enjoyed their meals as well. My only small complaint was the young male server kept saying, "I hear ya man" every time my male friend said anything....

The family and I went to Tahoe Joe's for dinner. 3 adults and three kids, six total. The wait was about 10 minutes because we checked in online. Walk-ups were about 40 minutes or so. Very pleasant staff. An appetizer, three adult meals, 3 kids meals, and the cocktails came out to $240 plus tip. The artichoke and Spinach dip came out hard so it had been sitting for a while. The kids chips broke instead of dipping. Entrees were excellent and more than enough food. They forgot the Campfire shrimp but I was to full to eat it anyways. But then they forgot to remove it from my bill and I didn't check until I was home. All of us had a great time, but the table and chairs are getting a little worn. Big scratches pits in the tables from years of use. We love it there so we'll go back.

Great place. Food is awesome. The whole place feels lake a log cabin in the woods. Has a cozy fireplace. Went there on a Tuesday night at 7:00, no waiting to be seated. Waiters were very nice and helpfull explaining the items on the menu. I had the salmon with green beans and a fully loaded baked potato; it came along with a small serving of Cesar salad. Washed everything with ice black tea served in a mason jar. Everithing was delicious. It's on the pricy side, but it's worth every peny. Will be back again.

A friend referred me to Tahoe Joe's and stated it was the best steak in town. I will say the Railroad shrimp during happy hour were delicious, the rice pilaf was fantastic but the twin petite filets were just ok. Service was great and little to no wait.

Service was very good. Shrimp appetizer was also good and hot. A little disappointed at the large bowl of soup, seemed not so large. One of the reasons we chose them for lunch. That will make me 2nd guess them as a choice next time. Overall, a very good experience for lunch.

I stopped in for lunch and was immediately seated. Within a few minutes, my server arrived. She was quite pleasant. My meal was delivered promptly and was great. The only problem: I never saw my server again, until she delivered the check. I arrived only a few minutes after TJ's opened, probably 11:05, long before the lunchtime rush. So, how she was otherwise occupied, I don't know. I've visited Tahoe Joe's many times and I've never had a bad experience. This visit won't discourage me from returning, but this time I was disappointed.

We went there for lunch the other day and it was much better than the last time we went, the food was actually decenly good. I ordered the 6oz steak, green beans and mashed and it wasn't bad at all. The only real issue is they dont offer it in medium rear, only medium and above. The service was great and the atmosphere was cozy. I am glad we gave it a second chance, I would definitely go back after this experience, which was a far cry from the first time!

A nice to eat a family dinner. A bit overpriced for the effort that is put into making the food taste average. Very nice for the region, friendly staff, nice decoration, I was surprised by the taste of their Joe's Steak Salad. They don't have many choices, more the typical steak house, but I had no complaints about it!

The food is always good, so no complaints. Yesterday, I ordered food through Grubhub and instead of paying around $48, which included tax and delivery, I was charged $63! I have the receipt, so will contact both the restaurant and Grubhub to sort this out.

That said, the recent change to happy hour times was a letdown. I loved the smaller portion option with a cocktail — it made it easy to stop in for a lighter meal. Without that flexibility, it’s not quite the same experience.

My Green Beans were hard and when I brought it to our servers attention she said okay. And walked off and then when she brought me the substitution I asked for in place of the Green Beans, I said thank you very much and she just didn't say anything and walked off. Also, the portion sizes were small compared to Texas Roadhouse. And the chicken breast was really thin. The barbecue sauce, however, had a good flavor.

Tahoe Joe’s used to be a really good place to eat, but I feel like the last couple of years the quality has decreased. My crab cakes were terrible. They lacked flavor. My filet mignons were a bit small. It’s a decent spot for lunch.

I hadn't been to Tahoe Joes for 20 + years so decided to take wife to Tahoe Joe's for Sunday dinner. We ended up being seated in the bar after a 10 minute wait. There were six other people in the bar chatting and watching sports. Bar did not seem busy. After another 10 minutes server, Brittani, came over to ask what drinks we wanted. She then stopped and chatted with a couple seated right next to us for another 10 minutes. Our orders were finally taken. We discovered they have an all day happy hour in the bar on Sundays. We ended up ordering off the happy hour menu. Wife ordered a cheeseburger and fry while I ordered Nachos. Wife commented that burger was mediocre and cold. She said burger tasted like a frozen pre-made patty and the bun was hard. My nachos were small portioned but tasty. Wife ordered an absolut lemonade ($8.75) and I ordered a draft beer. The absolut lemonade was regularly $9.75 but was $1.00 off for happy hour. Total for two was $34.45. Service was ok but nothing special. Food was average. If we ever return will most likely try to be seated in the restaurant in the hopes our food would be served warm.

Went here for a date night and was disappointed that the food was not cooked correctly, my husband's steak came out looking boiled and it was so soggy he couldn't finish it. We ended up giving it to our dogs, my steak was half cooked correctly which makes me nervous because I'm about 8 months pregnant. I could have gotten very sick from this which is why I usually ask for medium well, I will say our server did an excellent job. I had no problem with how she was, but I do expect the kitchen staff to do better next time if we ever decide to go back.

I love Tahoe Joes but it’s unfortunate they changed their happy hour hours. Working across the street I was able to go and get a quick lunch with a sample of all my favorites for a reasonable price. Since they changed happy hour to 2pm I will need to find a new lunch spot that’s more affordable during my lunch hour. Please change the happy hour back to 12pm.

We moved away 8 yrs ago . Tahoe Joe's, was always extremely great food and service. On 01/08/26, we were visiting and we were excited to re visit Tahoe Joe's. Must be under new management and staff. Our campfire shrimp was soggy as if to have been reheated, and 1 of our plates came with the sauce already poured over it as shown in the picture. Our Ribeys @$47.oo each ( 3) of us had no flavor, and more fat than meat. Our Ranch salads were so watered down, no taste. The Calamari, if in fact it was Calamari was nasty .⁰ My wife had desert, and was told by our waiter they did not serve decaffeinated coffee 😑 Oh and nothing worse than just before the bill comes, our waiter with the black bowl cut hair all the sudden turns on the charm, ( for Tip) So we will not be returning to Tahoe Joe's anytime soon.

Was not impressed by this restaurant at all. The Happy Hour menu was mediocre at best with the Camp Shrimp being the only notable success. The Fish Tacos, while huge, were also very bland. The Calamari came with a pistachio crust, for which there was no allergy warning. As someone with a nut allergy, finding out the hard way that it was made with pistachios was not fun. The cheeseburger looked frozen, and they had what was far and away the worst spinach and artichoke dip I've ever had in my life. Barely melted cheese, watery, tomatoes AND green onions. Feels like an alien's recreation of spinach and artichoke dip from memory. Not to mention the most milquetoast, thin tortilla chips for dipping. Maybe the actual menu is good but for the prices, I'll let other people figure it out for me. My server, Jacob, was fantastic. I think they are overworking him though. He was in charge of the entire patio.

Came to celebrate an my wife's new job. It was slow, so we were right away. We had just sat down when the waitress came for our drink order. I told her we wanted to look at the drinks, and she said ok and gave us a weird look. We ordered the large order of Railroad shrimp. We got what looked like a half order. I just let it go. I ordered the T-Bone steak medium rare (cost $47), the wife got the full rack of ribs, and our son the grill cheese sandwich with fries. The grill cheese and fries were right. The ribs were a bit over cooked and dry. My $47 t-bone was not medium rare. It came out and the color of it once I cut into it was grey. Yes, grey. The taste was not good either. I only had a few bites. Also, we had to ask the waitres for the buns, she looked bothered when I asked for them. I kept seeing all the other waiters getting them for their tables as soon as they sat down. Towards the end, I asked for 2 boxes for my and my wife's leftovers. Waitres just dropped the box off and walked away. We then had to ask for a bag and she gave us a cheap plastic bag. I found it weird because se was so friendly with the older couple on the booth in front of our's. When they asked for a box, she brought along a nice paper bag for their food. I don't know if it was cause they were older...... or hate to say it, but maybe Caucasian and my wife and I are a mixed family. Either way, we got poor service and food. Our entire family as a whole usually visits this location about every other month, plus we have a 15-20 people holiday dinner every year. We will NOT be coming here for this year's holiday dinner and will not come to celebrate any other occasions. *Hostess was kind and welcoming* Total bill for 2 adults and a 5 year old: $143.33

We went here two days ago for dinner. I got the bacon-wrapped shrimp and the bacon was severely undercooked. I had to take the bacon off every one of my shrimp because it wasn’t cooked properly. I mentioned this to the waitress and she said "she would let them know." No one came to us or asked us about it. I tried to find an email to contact the restaurant directly, but couldn’t.

Our food was great, the waitress acted very strange at the end of the meal. She left the bill for our table to handle, we placed our card, she took the bill to the register. The waitress came back with the receipt & card only to immediately rush to the table snatch the checkout book back & run off with it to the back. The waitress did this 3 TIMES. In hindsight I should have called the manager over but we needed to head out or else we'd be late to a different place. I wanna give the waitress the benefit of the doubt like maybe she's just forgetful but even then, if she's that scatterbrained she shouldn't be working the floor by herself, she should still be shadowing someone else until she's actually trained.

Been dining here for years as regular, while dining in the food quality and service is usually great. I have been consistently disappointed with the food quality with both take out and delivery. The baked potatoes are hard like they have been setting in the oven overnight or microwaved, we ask for extra rolls and never get them, last night the rolls were hard and crunchy like large croutons. I truly understand the staffing and turnover issues we are having, I believe this management team can get this addressed, until this will not be my first delivery or take out option and will see you as we dine in only until then.

We had a reservation for a party of 8. We were a group of 8 girlfriends who had not seen each in over a year. They put us at 2 tables with a half wall between the two tables. Impossible to talk to each other. Crab cakes tasted like sawdust, never tasted any crab, ordered decaf coffee which they didn’t have. Waitress was very pleasant but obviously overwhelmed. Will not return.

This place was nice as well as the server, but he was un organized. The food was not it for me. We were served a complimentary bread & butter before our food & the bread was so stale we just left it alone. My chicken had no flavor. My first time there & I wasn’t too hyped to go back.

Unfortunately this was the second mediocre service dinner. Many seasoned servers have changed jobs since the pandemic and understand food service as I am in that industry as well. Food was tasty, drinks took a great deal of time to get. Our server was nice. And he was shocked as I was when I found some plastic in my food. I gave him the item and he went back to inform the team. He said my meal would be comped per manager., I said that was very nice of them. We continued with our meal (group of 5). When paying our ticket, after my husband paid it I saw that my meal was NOT comped or discounted. So here is the picture of the plastic stuff that was in broccoli. Like a multi layer plastic thing from plastic bags almost. In the future, I will not leave until I speak to them about the ticket. *this broccoli was literally sitting under the top brocc...broccoli.... almost like it was strategically placed. I mean, come on guys... you are better than that quality.

I usually go to outback steakhouse but decided to try Tahoe Joe's and let's just say it was not what I expected It was a special date night and this place was not good the waiter said they ran out of Joe's steak and no baked potatoes either when my food came it was cold .Just waisted $150 bucks for food that sucked .

All I'm going to say is, when you say the steak you're selling is a specific # of ounces, make sure that's what you actually give customers. Weighed my steaks from our take out order because they looked tiny! One was 5.6, and the other 3.9 (pics included). Both were supposed to be 6oz. I can account for some loss in cooking for the 5.6 but the 3.9...come on, this isn't a cheap restaurant so they shouldn't short their customers. The staff is really nice and the food has good potential but this 'left a bad taste in my mouth.'

So disappointed. I come to Tahoe Joes 3 times a week for lunch because their happy hour menu starts early. They have apparently decided they are no longer doing it early anymore. We would come for the great service and cheaper than fast food lunch prices. Probably won’t be coming very often now. Sucks for my girls Sarah and Evelyn. They do a great job and have a ton of regulars that I’m sure will not be happy.

Although our server was nice, there was clearly a lack of communication and/or staffing during our patio lunch on Sunday 3/3/24. First off, the coffee and baileys my mother ordered took over 20 minutes, arrived cold, and we had to remind our server we were still waiting for it. Despite her telling us earlier on that she didn’t know where the bartender was, she never bothered to make sure the coffee was made. My steak was well done when I had ordered medium, so I sent it back because it was so dry and chewy. They did remake the steak, but it was still overdone yet it was more tender than before and I didn’t want to deal with it anymore at this point. We pay our bill and leave, and see that we were charged for a dinner portion of a shrimp entree despite ordering it off the lunch menu, resulting in an extra $13. Overall I am extremely disappointed with our experience.

My wings were dry, like they been sitting out for hours.

Burgers were overly dry, could barely eat. No sauce was included. Pulled pork sandwich tasted old and microwaved. Salsa seemed spoiled. Had a sour taste to it. I don’t know why you got rid of the chocolate cake, the only good thing on the menu. Overall not a good experience and will not be returning.

Rude and pretentious Response to "owner" The waitress was rude and condescending. She didn't bring menus or even greet us but asked what we wanted. I mentioned no menus and she brought some while passing by without stopping at all. When she finally came back for drink orders her attitude was insufferable with blatant dirty looks. At no point was she pleasant or welcoming. The male host was the same way when we walked in. This is clearly a culture issue and likely is informed by poor management. Would not recommend.

My husband brought me for Valentine’s Day. We were next and they skipped us several times. Beforehand, my husband attempted to do a reservation and they declined because it is “first come, first serve”… We get there and ask if we had a reservation. The workers don’t care but to get paid. My drink was made like if we were at a beer pong not a fancy restaurant to be able to enjoy it smoothly. There was more liquor than the actual flavor. Kaylee said she was going to fix it but never did nor had empathy to make it right. If they can’t make it right for customer, people shouldn’t waste their time coming here…because they care more for the pockets than human decency. Don’t expect a tip if you can’t make it right. 🤷‍♀️

The food was not good. The steaks were either not cooked or overcooked. The sides were ok except for the salad with no dressing or the wrong dressing. The waitress was trying by her mind was in left field and not paying attention to anything. That used to be a great steak house, but now the food just sux for the price.

Came here to support a fundraiser at the local college, the ticket was $25 for one person. Ordered the BBQ Chicken plate with green beans and mashed potatoes. For the price this food was a complete and utter let down. The chicken was unseasoned, the sauce was watered down and taste like it came from a jar, the potatoes were bland, the bread was like some mix of sourdough or maybe it was a bit old, I'm not sure. Completely unhappy. For the price I paid I was better off going to McDonalds or some other fast food spot. My family makes better BBQ than this in our backyard for family functions. If you're going to charge higher prices then I expect the quality of the food to match that. I do not and will not recommend this place, ever.

Service is good. The ambiance is cool...knotty pine and ski themed. Very Lake Tahoe. This place needs a lot of food help. It's REALLY bad. First I ordered their roast chicken. The breast and wing were overcooked to the point of being "chicken jerky". I sent it back and asked the waiter if I could just have a medium rare steak. It came back to the table super well done. For $46. I sent that back and left....never to return!

We had purchased 2 fundraiser tickets. This was our first time dining here. Our waitress had a piercing with red hair. I ordered ribs with soup wife got chicken. I had to eat with a damn spoon and wife had a fork. Which was for our soup and salad. Her whole demeanor changed once we mentioned we had our tickets which costed me $50 by the way. The attitude was ridiculous service was shit. I had met other company members there chose to leave had to go get my own take out box cuz I didnt want to cause a seen. I will never recommend or step foot at that place. Hire ppl that like there job. The people behind me also complained to her and her response was as ridiculous. By saying that’s your opinion. I’m so pissed off u guys should pay my $ back

My family and I have visited this restaurant twice this year. On Mothers Day, the service was fine but the food was not as good as it used to be. Tried it again last night, and it was horrible. None of it seemed fresh. I’m done with this restaurant unless I hear of an overhaul in management and improved food quality. I hope they find their stride again and deliver like they used to.

Unfortunate we didn’t have a good experience. Nothing special about the steak (not tender neither). The witter forgot to bring the bread, and never came back to check on us. We had to ask at the entrance desk where we needed to pay because we were left alone for a long time. It was our first time visiting this restaurant. We were very disappointed. El bistec no estaba ni de buen sabor, ni suave. El mesero no nos dio buena atención. Tuvimos que preguntar dónde pagar porque como era la primera vez que visitábamos pues no sabíamos a donde pagar. Regresamos tristes a casa….

This has been my favorite restaurant for a long time and my regular happy hour spot and I usually come here three to four times a week because I love the food, the atmosphere, and especially the service since the staff is always so kind and welcoming. I was really bummed to hear that happy hour is now starting at 2:00 PM because that time just does not work with my schedule anymore, which sadly means I will have to start going somewhere else even though I do not want to. I truly love this place and the people who work here and it makes me sad that I will not be able to come as often as I used to, but I really hope they consider bringing the old happy hour time back.

I took my dad here to eat and we were served cold food and after 3 families who came in AFTER us. We were told it was because of what we ordered but we ordered the same thing as the individuals that were served before us. When I brought it to the manager, the manager told me she didn’t know what was going on. She had just came into work and did not take an accountability for the situation or her staff. This has normally been a great place for me to visit when I’m coming into town, but I will no longer be doing so they were not welcoming and did not care about customer service or satisfaction. They definitely are going downhill if I could’ve given them zero stars, I would have done that.

My coworkers and I have been regulars multiple times a week for years, but losing the lunch happy hour is a dealbreaker. The service is amazing and efficient, perfect for a quick lunch break. But without that menu, we will have to find a new go-to spot. Please bring it back!

We have gone here for years and it has really gone downhill. The hostess and some the wait staff look like they belong in a dive bar, not an upscale steakhouse, the floor felt slick and unmopped, the food was a C- at best, and the restrooms are reaching I-5 gas station level gross and smell. My wife ordered medium well steak on a steak salad and had several pieces that were completely uncooked rare. My son ordered a BBQ burger that arrived with no BBQ sauce, a couple of onion straws on top and partially burnt bun. We go to Tahoe Joes occasionally when one particular waiter, Sergio, is working and we usually have a nice experience. We called ahead and were told he was working and we would have his section; he was not working and they knew it. The restaurant has nose dived in the last two months or so since we ate there and needs a major overhaul, especially the bathrooms. I can see why the brand new Longhorn Steakhouse is packed on weekends. Expensive mistake, and we will not be back.

I was so excited to introduce my parents to this restaurant last Sunday and although the food was great my mom’s experience was bad. We were greeted by the host and seeing plenty of open tables she led us to the far back. Both my parents are seniors and it was obvious they both walk slowly for their age. First sign I noticed at the steps was small and said Watch your steps. I looked down to see the floors looks a bit warm down and in an instant my mother slipped so badly hitting her head on the wood of the bench. The guest sitting in the area were quick to see if my mother was okay and asked to help me pick her up. The host said she would bring an ice bag once my mom stood up and had a huge bump on her head. A few minutes later she received a bag of ice yet the host did not notify management nor our waiter and so there sat my mom in pain and swollen. My dad insisted we stay. Our host never brought us menus until I asked for it. The twenty minutes in another waiter passed by and saw we had no bread and butter. He was kind enough to make sure we had some. This fall was so severe after all she’s now seeking medical attention. The food was great but I feel it doesn’t take a lot to just follow up with a manager and show empathy for a senior who just fell in your restaurant.

Wife's birthday dinner, Ranch salad literally caused my wife to throw up. Luckily we were near trash can as we were near kitchen/bread bar (why i gave atmosphere 3 stars - we were in crowded , busiest part of restaurant) Prime rib was overcooked and dry - ordered medium rare, had almost no pink, close to well done. :( First set of rolls were not warm (second set was hot - yummy). Not was i expect for $120 meal for two.
