Thank the DQ Gods! They brought it back. The cherry dip is BACK, baby. I rolled up to Dairy Queen like a damn bloodhound on the trail of nostalgia, and when I saw that red plastic heaven shell was on the menu again, I nearly drove through the building in excitement. You don’t understand. This isn’t just ice cream. This is childhood. This is red velvet armor for vanilla dreams. I ordered a cone so fast the cashier flinched. She handed it over like it was sacred, and I held that thing like Rafiki presenting Simba. I took one bite and transcended. My taxes were done. My skin cleared. I remembered my email passwords. That crunchy, glossy cherry shell shattered like glass, and underneath? Creamy cold joy. I swear I made eye contact with God. I stopped and ordered a dinner at the drive through. It wasn't too busy tonight, but normaly they are very busy. The food is so good, have never had a problem with anything l ordered from there. And they always have pretty good workers at the window.

Well , my visit was absolutely great in every way , I ordered the steak finger combo and a double cheese ala carte. The speed was phenomenal and everyone was friendly and courteous. They even brought my tray of food to me which was a nice change of pace. Let me tell you though , this place is doing right !!! The steak fingers were super hot , and the burger had melted cheese coming out the sides with fresh firm veggies , gravy was better than I remember but don't sleep on your local DQ , this was fire !!!! P.s. I came yesterday and got their Reese caramel blizzard of the month , that thing is a must try , I put in category top tier 🤘🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥. I've been to several surrounding DQ's (Boerne, Hondo, Devine, Pearsall) I always order Md Banana Split Blizzard w/pecans and Bandera DQ is by far the best...for some reason this location has the best ingredients, the staff are pleasant and the drive thru wait is reasonable. Just want to give props to great service and great food!!

Fantastic customer service from Darren! This man is three workers in one—a gem for sure. He was juggling multiple tasks, running the register, taking orders, running orders to the tables, and making blizzards. He was extremely polite and you can tell he takes pride in his work. Also while waiting in line he knew his regular customers names and order.

Oh my! We have never been to a Dairy Queen where we have truly been treated so royally! Darren the lovely young smiling manager, actually welcomed and greeted us in such a friendly manner at the door and made us feel so welcome. He waited on us personally and made us the most yummy Heath Java blizzard with two spoons for my hubby and and I to share during a mid-afternoon stop on our lovely scenic motorcycle ride. We are from Canada and love riding in Texas Hill country. We have frequented many Dairy Queens in Canada and the US and this one in Bandera, TX definitely stood out as most special. The bathrooms were spotless, the tables were all clean, Darren and his staff were so outgoing, friendly and personable. They made us feel like they really appreciated our business. It was just a really extra nice stop on a beautiful day. Thank you Darren — keep doing things exactly the way you are, and we wish you all the success in the world with your business!

Stopped in for a quick desert. Very fast and friendly. Recommend. Dropped by again the following weekend. This time got stuck in the drive through behind a large order or something. For quick friendly service, go inside. Service was friendly in the drive through; order management might need a little help.

I got exactly what I ordered and was able to get curbside delivery of my order. The only two problems I had were that the fries were a bit cold and the blizzard cup had an inch-and-a-half long crack at the bottom. Otherwise, it's just what I like about Texas lol.

Had large poster for chicken and dumplings, but they don't serve them at that restaurant. The French fries are very good, I should have led with that. Their were some cute guys there too, so that didn't hurt

It's Dairy Queen, what else do you need to know...

If you want hot fries ask for it when putting in your order. If you would like more than two packets of ketchup you will have to ask for it because they will not offer it. And if their signs are not lit they're probably open if it's during business hours even though it's dark. A lot of times they have to be reminded that their lights are not on. Overall good food.

Today, our Grandchildren specificity asked for Dairy Queen chicken strips and fries. Of course, that's what we had for dinner. Two 6 piece turned out to be dinner for 4, and everyone left the table happy. But a little pricey I thought, $23.24

The drive through wait is really long, so I suggest going inside if you are just getting ice cream. Have spent 35 min and 40 min on two occasions in the last month in the drive through. I love my local DQ, but it has become really slow lately, so like I said, it is faster to walk inside.

The food is good for dairy Queen and the staff is getting better but there is an overwhelming mothball smell. You can't smell any food being cooked to wet your appetite, because of the smell of mothballs.

This place isn't well maintained. I'll only go for ice cream. Sometimes that's not great. They can't accept DQ gift cards. Kind of sad really.

I loved this Dairy Queen, after finally going inside for the first time, Im afraid i wont return. The interior of the restaurant is filthy. Its literally disgusting. I have never minded the wait as the food is great, it really is, its always fresh. However as a customer seeing the dining area being that dirty, what does the kitchen look like?

Management really needs to consider hiring more staff. I waited over 10 minutes just to place an order, and several people ahead of me actually left the line because it was taking so long. For a fast food place, this kind of wait time is unacceptable. It’s not the employees’ fault they were clearly doing their best, but they’re obviously understaffed. It’s frustrating as a customer, and probably even more so for the workers.

3 Texas T-Brand Tacos® Combo Three tacos packed with beef, shredded cheese, crisp lettuce, and ripe tomatoes and served with DQ® taco sauce on the side. 590-1010 Cal $7.35 Okay, they definitely were not packed, maybe I got a teaspoon of meat lettuce cheese and no tomatoes nor taco sauce. There was lots of shell to eat!

Don't go through the drive thru if you are in any kind of hurry. Their drive thru is by far, the slowest drive thru I have ever been to. We are new to the area and we thought the first time we went there and waited in the drive thru forever, we thought it was a fluke. Apparently that is not the case because we went back last night and was stuck in the drive thru even longer than before. The meal we got last time was decent and I have no complaints on the taste, just the wait time. However, last night, my husband ordered just a strawberry shake. Had we not had someone behind us, we would have just gotten out of line and taken off because we were waiting so long. The shake was lacking on the strawberry flavor. Our time is worth something so we will not be back.

Last year I gave Bandera DQ 5 stars because I had no issues at all. I went there yesterday and it completely changed my opinion. 2 stars is all they get now. I don't know what has changed but the boy at the register didn't know how to use it because it was obvious he had not been trained at all. The older woman that was in the front with him acted like it upset her to be bothered to have to help him with my order. It took about 10 minutes just to order 2 Blizzards and 2 drinks. Then it took about 15 minutes to get our order complete. The same boy was trying to make my blizzard and didnt know how so he had to remake it a couple of times. I don't know where the manager was at this time. Everyone seemed lost or upset. The boy was really trying his best so I don't blame him. He's the only reason I gave 2 stars instead of one.

Since COVID, this place has gone downhill, before the older people that worked here had it going on, these new young workers just don’t have it. The blizzard did not look like a blizzard and was not served upside down. The taco meat could have been a lot hotter ( off temp). Not a good experience. Probably won’t come back here. Nope, you had your one chance to impress.

My burgers patties were initially cold. The manager remade them. The second time they were better other than the cheese was still cold as they just came of the the fridge. I would suggest leet the cheese melt a little before serving the burgers.

My family and I stopped at this location for a quick treat after a trip to Kerrville. Everything was fine initially, but soon after we ordered, several customers came in without masks on, ignoring the posted signs on the doors. Those customers were never asked to put on a mask, nor were they asked to leave the store. After that, we waited a long time for our ice cream to be prepared, because it appeared that several other customers who came in after us received their orders. I cannot be sure, but it looked as though those customers were friends of some of the employees working behind the counter. Finally, one new employee arrived for work while we were waiting, but when she went behind the counter she was there for several minutes holding her mask in her hand but not putting it on. She even went near other employees who are preparing food and ice cream without her mask on. At one point, the manager of the store even talked to her but neglected to tell her to put on her mask. We will not be returning to this day from location anytime soon. The service was just not good.

I ordered 2 burger meals and got 3 (yes I paid for the 3rd unknowing until I looked at the receipt) and a Blizzard... I asked for a 2nd small empty bag and was asked Why I needed another bag (3 meals in 1 medium bag is WHY) and when asked why we were still at the window I was asked Why and I responded "I'm still waiting for my Blizzard" He said Oh, what kind was it?? (Yes, it was on my receipt) Don't think I will be going back... I will get ice cream elsewhere

1-10-20 - seriously this is a dinein burger. I guess quality is not real important. 5-30-19 Burgers are usually burnt and the line takes forever most nights. But due to cc thefts at sonic and horrible customer service at BK, this is now the best option in the city.

Went for a blizzard, the top 1/3 was great, the rest was just vanilla soft serve, no toppings or flavors mixed in. The other 3 blizzards purchased were all the same

Its hot in there. there was nobody cooking. the manager was cooking then had to stop to get change for the register there was a kid trying to help cook but then was answering the phone. the ice cream was being served small and melty. it was like no one knew what to do and they clearly need help

I would love to know why merchants in Bandera sell DQ gift cards??? Because the BANDERA LOCATION (DQ) WILL NOT TAKE THEM!! We get the run around every time we try to use them. It was a year ago we were told that the machine was broke?? What machine? Whoever you are that owns this DQ flat does not care about service, cleanliness or anything customer related (especially the wait time) Your employees are unhappy and I can't blame them. YOUR store represents who YOU are and our town. Zero pride.

The inside of this place is filthy. Shoes stick to floors, salt and pepper shakers had food on them, wood walls have food and handprints all over them, windows filthy and musty inside, service was super slow. Gave 2 stars since our food was hot however they were out of fries and drink was not a normal DQ medium cup. Took forever. I’ve tried drive thru before and took forever. Came through one night for ice cream and 20 minutes before closing they were “out of ice cream”. Will not ever return!

The good...the gal at the window was nice. But man this location was so slow. There were two other vehicles ahead of us. It took 10-13 minutes to order. Then about the same to wait for our food. I food was so-so. Mine came with a mini blizzard and that tasted good. But my husband wasn't happy when we got home, took the lids off the blizzard and his was really low. Probably will go the extra distance and just go to the DQ in Boerne.

Dining room closed on mother's day of all days. The performance of this restaurant has declined significantly in the last 2 years. At one time was the best dairy queen I had ever been too. It now resembles a disorganized feces fight between primates at a low rent zoo.

I drove through the drive thru ordered and then pulled up. They have a sign stating that they have an offer right now that if you buy a combo you can add a mini blizzard for a dollar. I realized I paid full price for my mini blizzard and combo. I asked about it and then the manager came to the register by the window and then walked away with out addressing me and then the girl handed me my food and expected me to just leave. So I asked AGAIN if I was going to get a refund of the difference and she said no because the manager said that I have to mention their specials to get the special! So pretty much you have to remind them of THEIR Offers for them to charge you correctly. And the manager couldn't just talk to me and address the issue? This is not how you treat your customers and this place needs a serious lesson in customer service!

Ordered a banana split blizzard, and they gave me a cup of ice cream. Went inside to complain and they put in a small scoop of pineapple, mixed it and handed it back. Now, they did warn me they were out of strawberries, but what about the chocolate ? Or more than literally three pineapple bits? Or the bananas? How do you hand me a Banana Split Blizzard without, at the very least, bananas ?!

Worst service ever. Counter person was rude. She spoke very negative about us when we were leaving. Her comments where made loud enough for everyone to hear. Ice cream maker was not working properly again. I am going to assume that they are having problems finding friendly qualified people to work. She should not be in a service industry.

I left after 20+ min waiting in drive through line with only one person in front of me and we were the only two people there inside and out. Insane.

Waited 45 minutes for our food tonight, we ordered a few minutes after 8pm, and they were not busy. Our food was warmed up in the microwave and the guy taking the orders kept taking his hat off and shaking his hair. He ran his hands over his mouth before reaching in and making someone else ice cream cone. No manager to talk to, no refund and no one offered to remake our soggy, cold, limp fries. I called to try to discuss the situation and was unable to reach anyone. We then had to go after a long day and paying for dinner at Dairy Queen and had to go get something else from another place to feed our family.

Waited in the line for a good 20 minutes, they didn't take my order at the intercom thing. It was still 840. We kept saying hello hello hello but I guess it's a joke to them. So we pull forward hoping to order at the window and they hit us with "we already closed the kitchen" like okay???? Where were you guys when I was screaming my head off saying hello to the intercom? Nothing but ratty little kids working there. Horrible. They need to make a different location where children don't work.

It took more then 45 min to get our food while waiting in the drive through. We could have driven to sonic made a similar order and been back at home in that same amount of time. Horrible. dont waste ur time here. Also we ordered blizzards and these blizzards were served right side up for obvious reasons unusual but I dont complain when I've been waiting for too long. But these blizzards are so watered down in a sense. Less then half the toppings u would normally get at any other dairy queen. McDonald's mcflurries have more toppings. And the ice cream? The thinnest blizzard ever. It's no wonder they didnt do a turnover and serve.

The lobby was closed again, not sure if they're doing this because they are short staffed or just don't want to clean it. So we had to go thru the drive thru. Got home the chili cheese dog was not even the slightest bit warm, the cheese was not melted had to microwave it. The girl who made our shakes used the same towel that she cleaned the shake machine with to clean our lids off with!! The staff seriously needs new training anf taught how to manage a restaurant. People want to dine in and get warm food!

The worst customer service of a DQ I've ever experienced. Employees moving at snail's pace and no manager to be seen. . I expect DQ tho be slower than your average fast food place. I could have gone home cooked my own food and come back. Ooh and I'm still in line waiting for my food.

If I could give it zero stars, I would. We sat at the drive through for several minutes with no acknowledgment. We voiced a "hello?" and still nothing. So, we drove forward to the window only to see there was only one car ahead of us. We sat waiting behind that car for another several minutes. When we got to the window, we saw a few employees walking by and looking at us only to further ignore us. We waiting several more minutes then finally drove away. This has never happened at any DQ's we've visited in the past and not very fun when you're having a Blizzard craving! Will never visit again! This was the afternoon of May 13th, 2021.

Was driving through bandera to San Antonio and thought it would be nice to get something to eat from here. I stopped by the guy who took my order was very unprofessional. I went through drive thru since i didn’t wanna waste any time and i can get back in town early. I didn’t check my food before i left but i definitely felt my drink being too light and seemed like it was full of ice. Didn’t wanna complain cause i didn’t know how much ice it really had. I drove off and sure enough i take the lid off my drink and the cup was up to the top with ice. I get my burger and it smelled raw and not fully cooked, i took a piece of meat off and sure enough it was all pink. I was gonna head back to get a refund but i was already far from there. I did submit a report to USDA and DSHS and also took pictures of the food i was given. Will be contacting other food safety companies in regards to this issue.

Service is not very fast -- my husband ordered a Banana Split Blizzard, I ordered the Royal New York Cheesecake Blizzard. Neither one of them was anything special. The cheesecake one had only 5 tiny "chunks" of cheesecake, basically all you could taste was the graham crumbs. Was very disappointed and will not order Blizzards from there again. Additionally, they weren't even served in the blizzard cups, they were served in styrofoam drink cups, so I'm sure we didn't get the size that we paid for.

Probably the worst service I’ve ever received at a DQ. When we walked in there were three people in line. The employees (at least four or five people) did not even acknowledge us at all. Once they took the orders of the three people in front of us they all worked on those orders (maybe?) while we all stood and watched for five to ten minutes. When they finally completed two of the orders the new guy tried to take our orders but he didn’t have any answers when asked what was in a couple of the desserts. Finally when I tried to order he acted as if he’s never heard of the double fudge chocolate chip blizzard so I just ordered a drink. I can’t wait to get out of this sorry place! People here are so rude, they make it obvious that customer’s are only bothering them!

They had kids running the shop who more busy playing around with one another than taking care of us. We just ordered dipped cones... they made the cone with ice cream and then put them a holder and then 5 minutes later decided to dip the cones and then give them to us. We waited in line for so long and were in a hurry. Otherwise we would have given them back there melted cone with coating on them... Been coming here over 30 years and had never experienced this. They must be really hard up for workers!

Went through the drive-through and as soon as we got up to the window and paid with cash and the lady asked us if we had a card because she had already counted her drawer 10 minutes before close we ordered a chicken strip basket and what was thought to be freezing cold gravy Ended up being ranch called to complain I and they said that they had already dumped a gravy out in but did not tell us that when we ordered the food Also ordered a hunger buster and it had jalapeños all over it did not request that. over all terrible experience will be calling back tomorrow to talk to the actual manager.

Drove up to the drive thru ordered 2 mini blizzards and got 2 melted blizzards instead.Went to tell the drive thru employee and she slammed the window with attitude.

It took very long. Was in line for 20 mins. Got my shake within 5, got fries in 20.

Burger was cold. Not even warm enough to melt the cheese. Then when we came back to get them to replace it. They nuked it so hot that not only could you not eat it but, it messed up the bun and lettuce. Bad customer service. They didn't even talk to me about it. Just took the cold burger and went to nuke a new one. Didn't offer solutions to the problem, didn't apologize for the cold burger. Nothing. Go somewhere else to eat. This particular Dairy Queen is staffed poorly.

When we pulled in there were several cars ahead of us. It wasn't very long though. I kid you not, it took over 20 minutes to make it to the window. We both had ordered blizzards. When we were ordering my husband requested Reese's pieces Blizzard. The guy had him clarify it was the pieces and not the peanut butter cups. Even with several clarifications, when we got up to the window the guy said he made the wrong one and had to remake it. This took an extra 6 minutes. I'm not sure if the machines are just not working or what because we saw him go to three different machines trying to remake it. The employee was much nicer than the time we went before. We thought maybe he was a newer employee. Anyways... bottom line... Something is causing this location to be soooo incredibly slow. Probably will not be back to this location. Boerne's location is way faster and the employees are always so nice and polite!!!

Well for one, it's hot in there. 2, we ordered a icecream cake for my daughter's birthday and left written instructions like they requested and they literally just did what they wanted to do. They were rude and didn't even offer to correct it.

In short - Awful! The place Needs a NEW manager. If I was the owner, I would FIRE her on the spot. She got into a rant with me and scolded the employees who were trainees. It started when I told her I had order a sundae. She pour the ice cream, Worst sundae ever as it was melting when I got it. Bad service.

I used to go to this Dairy Queen throughout my childhood growing up in Bandera (1995-2006). It was always the best Dairy Queen. I enjoyed going there for off campus lunch when in high school too. It was always hot, fresh, and delicious. I have ventured back throughout the years and have seen a decline in the customer service and quality of food. I decided to try the food one more time before heading back out of town. Not surprised, I get half way down the road to find my soda flat, bun is stale to the the point that it’s slightly crunchy, and my order was wrong. When I called, the manager was rude and wouldn’t give me his name. It’s disappointing that this specific Dairy Queen has declined so bad. It was always a special place my family and I would go to after rodeos and other special events that took place in Bandera. It’s definitely not the DQ it was over a decade ago. Make sure before leaving the restaurant, your order is the way you want it.

I actually don't know if they're any good, every time I've been to this location, I've driven off without my food because I didn't have half an hour to spend waiting for "fast" food. The only reason I think they stay in business at all is like they're literally the first place you come to when you arrive in town. My advice, keep going on 16 till you get to the 5 Points gas station where the food is better and you'll be in and out of there in less than half the time you'll wait at DQ just to reach their window.

Waited 45 mins in line, no greeting or warning about the wait, was card or exact change only and they had no cheese. We sat at the window and they couldn’t even manage to open it and say “Hey y’all, just a few moments” Or maybe “Here’s your drinks” (-_-)

** 4/24/25 we returned after 2 years and this place still cant get it right. They seemed to be short staffed but that doesn't mean they have to provide bad service. Ordered 3 medium blizzards and 2 large. Even after waiting a ridiculous time you would think our order would be made right. I was wrong. They got the flavors wrong and were melted cups being a quarter empty. What a waste of money. ******* old post We dined in.The 4 burgers we ordered were cold. My burger was missing a pattie. They were out of taco meat so ordering tacos was out of the question. The restaurant seemed to have a busy drive-thru. I would rather have slow service with my food being made right than workers working to fast and making many mistakes. The young cashier really was nice. I hope when it slows down they can all get back on track.

This has to be one of the worst experiences I have had. After waiting in line for 30 minutes at drive-through, we asked what the holdup was the lady at the window got aggressive. She then walked outside started arguing with my sister motioning like she had a gun under her apron the manager, then walked out after her and started to provoke her boyfriend as well. All this was being done outside the restaurant making a whole scene they didn’t even care that my three year old niece was in the vehicle watching the whole thing . Dairy Queen is supposed to be a family restaurant where you take your kids. This is bad we did not even get Our food that we paid over $30 for. These people should be fired for that unprofessional service. So don’t come to this restaurant they don’t treat customers well. Your better off taking your kids any where else!

French Fries were hard as rocks. Clerk told cook and he yelled across the kitchen window “They're fresh!!!” Waited on a manager for about 45 minutes but she never came out of kitchen. Nothing done about it. Won’t eat there again and certainly wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.

My daughter in law ordered dairy queen last night and it was the worst we have ever had. For one they didn't give us 3 orders of fries we ordered so we had to go back. The food was cold tasted like it had been sitting for awhile. My daughter ordered 8 piece chicken strips and has been throwing up all day. This use to be a great place to eat. I guess not any more.

Sat 42 minutes in the drive thru for two ice cream cones, this is the third time we had to wait that long. The guy in the window said he was the only person working. Where is management to help him.you are losing a lot of business, three cars pulled out of line and left

Placed an online order with Bandera DQ on Valentine's evening, 2024. We ordered various ice cream which took over 30 minutes to be given to us after we got there. When we finally got the order, the hot fudge sundae was covered in cherry juice more than hot fudge. When asked to remake it, the kid said the manager insisted we be charged a second time since they don't give refunds for online orders. Even if that really is a rule for that location, it doesn't apply since no refund was requested, only a remake of something that had been improperly made. A cookie dough blizzard that we got had almost no cookie dough and more closely resembled a plain cup of vanilla ice cream. We were also charged for a pup cup even though no other Dairy Queen we've frequented has done this. To add insult to injury, we didn't get the pup cup with the order and had to ask for it a second time since we had already been charged for it. After all the time, trouble, and extra money, we left only to realize they had charged us for a Dr. Pepper that we did not receive. Horrible example of a franchise!!! We live in Bandera, but if we want Dairy Queen, we will go elsewhere! If I could have given no stars, I would have.

They scream at you here. They also charge you for food they can’t prepare because they are out of key ingredients, then refuse to refund you. If you must come here, wait to pay until they confirm they can make your order. This is a problem they deliberately refuse to solve.

Was here Friday, Nov 21st 2025. It took 35 minutes to get through drive-through, which seemed quite a bit excessive for an order for two people. It seems they are severely understaffed.

I waited in line at the drive through for 30 minutes with only 3 cars in front of me, about 10 minutes a car (this what qualifies as fast food now days apparently). And it was not busy. Only to receive the most pitiful puny ice cream cone I’ve ever received from any Dairy Queen in the state of Texas. And I’ve been to a lot. And this isn’t a one off. This has happened every time I’ve made the unfortunate mistake of choosing to stop in Bandera rather than Hondo for ice cream.

Iv been trying to a while now to keep giving this DQ a chance but it's just gone so far down hill. The wait times are insane, even for simple stuff. And there is always atleast one thing messed up every time. This time, my husband went to get me a malt as iv been in bed for 4 days with a severe migraine and it was the only thing I thought i could stomach. He got me a medium, however it's basically half empty. I assumed he drank some, but he didn't, he said he even commented to himself on it when he got home. You can't put a small, in a medium cup, and call it a medium. It's not a huge deal but with everything being so expensive.. you'd think you should atleast get what you paid for..

Took 15 minutes for a burger combo (actually still waiting). Ridiculous wait for a drive-thru. Update: I ended up demanding a refund after approaching thirty minutes. I see the review responses that apologize and hope the 99% of customers with a bad experience “come back,” but zero mention of what improvements the establishment plans to initiate in order to provide a semi-decent experience. I believe the owners are listed on the window as the Thayers, but no phone number accompanied the listing, or I certainly would have contacted them. I will NOT be giving this place another chance and the franchise HQ should know about this misrepresentation of its brand.
