Opinions de The Cracked Mug Bandera
Tasty coffee, good sugar free options, excellent service. A bit cold in January, but I knew that so I dressed warm. Highly recommend the keto bowl if you’re low carb. So tasty and reminds me of home cooked food!
The cutest cafe ever! So aesthetically pleasing and a great place to study/work. I come here probably once a week to grab a drink and a chicken sandwich. The barista Madeline always makes special teas or lemonades for me since I don’t like coffee and I’m always pleasantly surprised, amazing service I always feel welcome. A must stop if your in the area :)
Just an amazing experience. The proprietors treated me as if I was family. I adore this little family owned and operated establishment. Whether my word holds any weight, or not, My experience was one of the very best I’ve had anywhere in my lifetime. So if you enjoy great service, great coffee, delicious food, and a real family oriented environment, then I highly suggest and recommend “The Cracked Mug Coffee House”.
Absolutely love this place. The breakfast is great, the outdoor area is lovely on a nice day, and the people are friendly
Relaxed, kid friendly, fresh excellent coffee/tea AND food, and superb staff. This goes above and beyond what a coffee house should be. Food is made to order & healthy. Tea & coffee selections are well-thought out & made properly! Spacious outdoor public area. Indoor rooms have a variety of options, including a well stocked kid table. Great little asset to Helotes & thrilled to have them in my town!
The breakfast taco was amazing! The staff work so hard to get your order ready in a timely manner. It was a busy morning on Friday and they kept their cool and pushed through it with great customer service. I will definitely be back!
I live an hour away but when I have to come into Bandera for work I stop here every time. The specialty lattes are incredible. So far I've only had the biscuits and gravy on the menu and that was delicious as well! Really good price for the portion size.
This is a great little place for all types of breakfast options. The muffins and biscuits are made from scratch and to die for. They offer lots of different coffee options as well. The owners are extremely nice people to chat with! Had a great experience when visiting from NJ.
Amazing coffee. One of my friends got married and brought his wife to this shop first for coffee. That tells you how good th coffee is.... Amazing!!! They always run out of muffins, please make more as they are delicious!
Great coffee, food and service! I'd almost call it a cafe with a coffee house vibe. Nice folks running the place. Appeared to be a local gem based on the traffic I saw, many of which appeared to be regulars. Interior is well arranged - plenty of seating without feeling crowded and lot of seating available outdoors, too, with shade and room for kiddos to roam. You order at the counter, but they bring it to you, even if you are sitting outside. Big city style with small town service. I'll be back.
Great artisan coffee and tea, seasonal specials, and fantastic (though limited) simple brunch options. There is only about one table inside, and I'm not sure it's available, but there's a beautiful outdoor courtyard to sit at. It's a shame it's closer on Sundays now, we used to go here after Bible fellowship. Best food item is the chicken salad croissant sandwich. Most popular drink is the Willie Nelson.
This place is great! It didn't feel overly crowded but it had that perfect little coffee house vibe you just won't get at a Starbucks. Plus: they have some nice food and drink options, and aren't ridiculously priced. I have a feeling my writing group is going to end up getting together there again in the future.
I frequent here often and they really do try to get to know their customers. The owners are great people and do lots of community things. Feels like a home away from home! Try the everything taco it's awesome! They have a roast masteri believe and he travels to get the best quality coffee ñ
Food is good, coffee is great, cute ambience Definitely recommend for a lazy morning!
I love this little vibey coffee shop tucked away. Great coffee, food and service
Absolutely loved this gem of a coffee shop. Very rustic feel, and although the barista was busy making drinks, she was very friendly and brought the drink outside to me. I got a lavander latte and it was good i paid around $5. The prices were amazing, not like your usual coffee shop thats $8 for a coffee.
Good House coffee! Atmosphere was very nice and Christian which was very welcoming. Menu is pretty typical of average Coffee shop, Cappuccino was 80% foam though
It's a charming, rustic coffee shop with delightful breakfast options and both indoor and outdoor seating. The surrounding area offers many attractions. We enjoyed the breakfast plate and the breakfast sandwich. Highly recommended!
Very nice surroundings. A historic small house was converted into this quaint coffee shop. The coffee was like in any other shop, very friendly employees who will bring your coffee outside despite being very busy with orders!
Coffee could be better I got the cinnamon roll latte iced, it just needed more flavor for me but I’ve only been there once so who knows otherwise the breakfast bowl was 10/10. Wish I had known it wasn’t to go or they asked had it to eat it there but love the cozy vibes.
The staff were super friendly, the food was delicious and the atmosphere was so homey! It's obvious that it's run by Christians and if heaven has a coffee shop, I think it'll be a lot like this one!
Small & quaint and they are friendly. Coffee could have been more hot but it tasted great! We got a breakfast bowl and it tasted great.
Great outdoor seating, inside looked very nice as well. The staff was incredibly nice. The breakfast bowl is only $5 and so filling! Cold brew coffee and blueberry muffin were also delicious. Very charming and relaxing atmosphere.
I love this place! It’s never super busy when I go, so I bring my dog and we sit outside under the shade trees and enjoy coffee and a breakfast bowl until it gets too hot to be outside. Lovely atmosphere, fantastic staff. The breakfast bowls and breakfast tacos are AMAZING!!! It’s a hidden gem, for sure.
This is THE cutest little coffee shop! I met up with a friend today for my first visit, and let me just say I am IMPRESSED! While this might be a little shop, their options and flavor are anything but little. I enjoyed their eggs, thick crispy bacon, and gigantic biscuit for a more than filling brunch. I opted for a strawberry lemonade and you can taste the freshness in everything. The eggs were perfectly cooked and spiced and did not taste like the reheated rubber that other certain coffee shops offer, and the bacon was divine- thick, crunchy, and not overcooked at all. The perfect place to have a coffee/tea/whatever for a nice country style break or to even have a full on meal with friends. I will be highly recommending this place to everyone I know. Thanks for the great experience 👍👍
If I could give 4.5 stars I would. Their coffee is great and they have some unique stuff compared to a chain like Starbucks. Only docking half a star because their muffins are just generally not very good. There are a few that are decent and their food is good. Overall doesn't detract from the main focus which is the coffee. Update: they've done some interior updating and their coffee is still great. Still coming back for more and the owners are super nice.
This was my second time at the Cracked Mug since last year. We had a couple of coffees that were flavored and some banana cake. Everything was great, but I must mention that the staff was exceptional. Every person who works there was polite, friendly and just plain nice. I definitely will return and try other items on the menu.
What a nice, quaint little coffee shop, and the young ladies working there were excellent. I'll be back regularly to support this coffee shop. Thank you!
Coffee is great got the biscuits and gravy which were good but a little cold when I got them but otherwise delicious.
Great little coffee shop. Coffee is good & breakfast is yummy. The breakfast sandwiches are yummy, the breakfast bowl is amazing! It's like heaven in a bowl. So many yummy flavors all together, freshly diced cooked potatoes in the bottom topped with cheese, a fried egg, gravy & bacon. Amazing! Lots of out door seating, lovely place.
This place is super cute and the staff is very friendly and welcoming! My friends and I have definitely found our new place to grab a bite and to drink amazing coffee! I definitely recommend The Cracked Mug to anyone looking for a bite to eat and to get coffee! LOVE IT! I reccomend the Breakfast Sandwich with a Caramel Cappuccino🥰
The Willie Nelson latte (cinnamon, carmel and honey) will change your life. Such a peaceful courtyard with plenty of space to relax and enjoy.
This place on a weekday is ym go to place to study and relax. The outdoors atmosphere is amazing. I find myself getting so relaxed and caught on how quite it is despite it being so close to the SA area! If that doesn't sell you then the food and coffee is too good to pass on! I got myself the "Honey I'm home" plus a recommended PB&J with strawberry, cheese and bacon! I've never had such an amazing lunch time snack meal while being able to study in such a quite place! This place is truly unique and is my best get away from the city spot!
I am simply enjoying life being, eating, and trying coffee at the crack mug. The breakfast here is very tasty! The waffle plate is a dream and the breakfast sandwich has the comfort and taste of home. The lavender and honey coffee is amazing as well as, the Willie Nelson. The Cracked Mug offers a lovely variety of drinks and good eats along with a relaxed and comforting atmosphere. They can most certainly look forward to me, and my family being regulars!
I've been here multiple times and they never disappoint! I actually prefer them over Texas Grounds Coffee. You get great and friendly service every single time! They have outdoor seating and games for you to enjoy spending time with friends or family as well. Prices are great for the portions of food you get and drinks are always cold or freshly hot! Will continue to support this small business ❤
A nice local coffee shop in a cozy historical home turned into a coffee shop. The coffee were good but the interior design needs a little update. The coffee shop is located in an historical home that feels antique but the furniture inside doesn't match the atmosphere. Again, the coffee and the service were excellent and I would go again...
Cracked Mug Coffee Shop is truly a Helotes treasure! 🏆 This cozy spot has become one of the bedrocks of our community, and it's easy to see why. Their breakfast tacos are a local favorite, and with good reason - they're absolutely delicious. Coffee lovers will rejoice at the plentiful options, but I can't resist their vanilla latte. It's my go-to every time. The sandwiches here are comfort food at its finest, making you feel right at home with every bite. But what really sets Cracked Mug apart is their incredible staff. They're not just serving coffee -- they're serving up smiles and positivity. If you're having a rough day, this is the place to turn it around. The ample seating, especially the peaceful outdoor area, makes it perfect for catching up with friends or getting some work done. Cracked Mug isn't just a coffee shop - it's a Helotes institution that keeps our community caffeinated and connected. ☕️🌟
I’ve visited The Cracked Mug Coffee house a lot last year and I’m glad I started my 2025 visiting again . I got the usual breakfast plate ( they have the best scrambled eggs I don’t have to put ketchup on them ) , bacon , potatoes , and toast . I’ve tried their seasonal drinks but really loved their specialty drink Old Town Turtle with almond milk ( caramel + butter pecan + chocolate ) . My cashier was so kind , I believe she was new because she was asking questions and the baristas were helping her . I love drinking coffee outside especially when the weather is nice Update : I’ve noticed the times I’ve gone to visit their hospitality depends on what kind of customer you are looks wise , the food is delicious which I will give them credit for but I felt like the workers were not wanting to help at all . I ordered 4 tacos and they stacked it up in one tray and I kindly asked for another plate and the girl was confused and had a little attitude when asking and the barista saw me and looked like she didn’t want to help me . The different cashier was kind enough to give me a fork with my breakfast plate since I had to ask for one . I don’t appreciate feeling like that at a place , especially when they seem to have a writing of “Be kind to others “ on their wall . Hope next time is better with hospitality .
Be prepared to wait when its busy. The wait is worth the experience at the cracked mug. The house coffee is bottomless and pretty good. The iced coffee was very good and smooth. The keto scamble was great, it was a bit too cheese-y but did not detract from the flavor. The breakfast sandwich was standard on texas toast. The waffles were delicious very flavorful and sweet, just a touch of syrup needed. Outside seating was nice and the atmosphere was very relaxed.
"The Cracked Mug: Coffee, Conversation, and Comfort" ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The Cracked Mug in Helotes is hands-down one of my favorite spots! The coffee is consistently excellent—rich, smooth, and exactly what you need to start your day or take a well-deserved break. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, making it the perfect place to unwind. What truly sets this place apart, though, is the courtyard & history. It’s a little haven where I love to sit and soak in the peaceful vibes, striking up conversations with anyone who’s willing to chat. There’s something so special about the sense of community here—it’s not just a coffee shop; it’s a place where connections happen. If you’re looking for great coffee and an even greater experience, The Cracked Mug is an absolute gem. Highly recommend!
We visit San Antonio pretty regularly for vacation or trips to Six Flags, so I've been slowly trying to find the perfect place to get coffee. This is it! If you are near the tourist side of town (Six Flags, SeaWorld, etc.) This is AMAZING! They had a themed week of beverages, and we tried the Oh Darling! (The Beatles week) and it was amazing! It is a honey, vanilla, cinnamon flavored latte and WOW! My husband got the hot latte and I got the iced and they were both phenomenal! We also got the breakfast plate and a bacon, egg, cheese taco--both great! Nothing is better than homemade food! I will be coming back next time we're in town for sure! If you have time to come by, please do! 10/10! The owners are so kind and dealt with my crazy family so well! Biggest plus for me, was seeing the kindness and love of God being spread on their coffee sleeves ❤️
I have been coming here for years and I love it! Amazing people and nice atmosphere. The keto bowl was great and so was the Autumn Kiss, seasonal fall drink. Got this with my boyfriend before a hike and I loved it!
I meet a friend here for breakfast. The whole place is magical, with several small but, busy restaurants in Old Helotes. Beautiful, serene area underneath a large canopy of oaks! We ended up staying until lunchtime!
I went an hour before closing so I’ll be sure to note. I ordered a kolache which was good and an iced mocha. The iced mocha was good but average. It didn’t distinguish itself from any other run of the mill mocha but it was still a decent brew. The atmosphere is the cutest thing. I plan on trying other coffees at this establishment for the sake of local, the cute location, and just because still.
Very similar to everyone else's experience, very homey place, extremely courteous staff and the muffins are to die for!!!!! And of course coffee and tea wasn't half bad! Only thing that did get to me were are the tacos. I heard about them for months but did not quite enjoy them when I finally got to try them. Hopefully I can update my review in the future!
Shared amazing discussion with hubby and friend over a scratch made breakfast of scrambled eggs, bacon, skillet potatoes and toast. Tried the Turtle Latte and was not disappointed with good Pecan, chocolate and caramel flavors. Clean restroom, cozy setting, plenty of outdoor seating options. As I was leaving, a young lady heard me mentioned a sharp pain in my shoulder. She asked which should it was and then offered to pray over it. Good food, and my shoulder doesn't hurt anymore!
The Cracked Mug Coffee House is the perfect example of what a small coffee shop should be. The atmosphere of the shop, inside and out, is amazing. I would absolutely recommend this to anyone who likes coffee.
This coffee shop is in a great location! The Willie Nelson latte was great as well as the chorizo bowl. As soon as I walked in I was greeted with a smile and kindness. The only reason it’s 4 stars is due to the loudness of the shop with constant banging and doors/cabinets slammed closed. I understand why some people prefer to sit outside.
Gotta be patient here! So if you're in a rush, may not be the place to go. If you got time you can enjoy a relaxed atmosphere. Staff is friendly, coffee is decent, not overly sweet and the muffin was ok. Wait time, however, was terrible. We were informed that for food it was going to be at least an hour right away, so we opted for drinks to go instead, which were supposed to take about 5-7min... 20 minutes later, still no drinks and there were a few people who were experiencing the same. We went up to the window and asked how much longer it would take. Another 2-3 minutes... Well, it took longer than that. I just wish they'd let us know it was going to take almost 30 min for a cup of coffee from the get go, so we could have gone elsewhere.
Very slow service. The woman working expressed multiple times that they are severely understaffed so I definitely have sympathy. If going for coffee I was not impressed extremely watered down and took 30 mins to make because one side of their machine isn’t working and the other side that is doesn’t provide a good pull. The staff were very sweet and remade our drinks but was the same result. Whoever is the business owner should consider more staff and investing in repairing the equipment. Since it was made know that their machine has been having issues for a while now.
Got tea and tacos, the food was absolutely wonderful. The owner and cook was really nice. The service girls at the front and wait time was not great. We waited a long time for our food which is really hard on kids. We saw others getting served who had ordered after us. We did not get our entire order when the food did arrive and then had to wait a long time for that order to come. Neat outside eating area and courtyard.
Ok. So the location and atmosphere is beyond cute and cozy. Staff is friendly and helpful. The coffee was delicious! The food, however, was really sad. We ordered breakfast here. The breakfast sandwich and breakfast plate was for a lack of better words...plain. I can confidently recommend this place for coffee and a small baked good. I can't recommend it to have a good breakfast meal. Hope this helps!
The service was kind and very courteous, even during their rush. I can tell they love what they do. The menu is creative and the food looks great! However, my coffee was very disappointing. It was as if no flavors had been added in, simply just coffee flavor. I had ordered coffee with flavors in it, and maybe had one sip that tasted like it was supposed to. However, I also understand they were very busy. This could have affected the way the drink was made. Very homey and comforting seating. Definitely considering coming back for the breakfast.
nice cozy spot to hang out and study! the folks there are super nice. coffee was alright, just unfortunately skyrocketed in price like many other places.
I visited The Cracked Mug Coffee House recently, and while it has a charming and cozy vibe, there were a few areas where it could improve. 1. Atmosphere and Layout: The interior is warm and inviting, with a farmhouse-style decor that feels homely and relaxing. The small seating area, including couches and traditional tables, gives off a quaint charm. However, the space is limited, and the acoustics make it easy to overhear conversations, which can be distracting. If one person speaks loudly, it can disturb others trying to enjoy the quiet. 2. Coffee Quality: I had high hopes for the coffee, but unfortunately, the brew lacked the freshness and depth of flavor you’d expect from a dedicated coffee shop. While the variety of drinks on the menu is appealing, the execution leaves room for improvement, especially for coffee enthusiasts. 3. Additional Features: The shop includes a retail section with mugs, coffee beans, and other merchandise for sale. While it’s a nice touch, the overall focus should be on enhancing the quality of the coffee and the guest experience. 4. Space for Work or Relaxation: This spot could be ideal for remote work or catching up on reading, thanks to its peaceful environment. However, the limited seating means it might not always be available or comfortable during busier hours. Overall, The Cracked Mug Coffee House offers a pleasant atmosphere but falls short in delivering a great coffee experience. I’d recommend it for a quick stop or a quiet break if you’re in the area, but there are better options for coffee aficionados. Rating: 3/5. Suggestions for improvement: • Focus on brewing fresh, flavorful coffee. • Consider soundproofing or spacing adjustments to minimize noise disruption. • Expand seating capacity slightly for more comfort. A quaint coffee house with potential to grow into something much better!
This place was very cute and the outdoor sitting area is spacious! But I’m giving this place 2 stars because 1) the inside is not accessible to strollers, which means my friend and I had to take turns going inside to order 2) i wish they had gluten free options! 3) the food took forever 4) and when we finally did get our food, the portions were ridiculously small??? Won’t be going back..
For ambience, this place was great. There’s quaint outdoor seating and a few places to sit inside. But that’s about it. The coffee was subpar and a little burnt. I had a brewed coffee while my husband had the Willie Nelson latte. The coffee was self-serve, but hot. The flavors in the Willie Nelson were delicious, but you ended with a slightly burnt aftertaste. The food… I decided to splurge and get the biscuits and gravy with sausage and 2 over easy eggs. My husband got the turkey and cheddar sandwich. When it was served, the guy apologized for breaking the yokes, but I think they knew how hard the biscuit was because it was kind of mangled when it was cut in half. It was so hard that I couldn’t even cut it with my knife, let alone eat it. Additionally the sausage patty was burnt. The gravy tasted great and seemed to try to “cover” everything but I definitely won’t be back here for the food. I let them know and they apologized but that was it. My husband’s sandwich was subpar. It was a basic sliced turkey with melted cheddar sandwich on white bread.
I recently explored a lovely area in Helotes with abundant seating options, which was a real plus! However, I encountered some challenges with the service. It seemed the staff could benefit from a bit more attentiveness and energy, as there were many employees on hand yet the atmosphere felt less welcoming. My simple order took longer than expected, and my coffee arrived a bit late too. A bit of acknowledgment for the delays would have enhanced the experience. Despite these hiccups, the location has potential, and I hope to see improvements next time, as it could truly shine!
3 people seated at 3 different tables with their drink & laptop as I waked in, no one in line, no drive thru, so why would a chicken salad sandwich take over 25 minutes to bring out? I did go ask after 15 to see maybe they couldn't find me waiting at a table, but she said I'll bring it out. No one ever came out but I could hear a ton of chatter in the kitchen, it's a small space . Went up a 2nd time & was told there was "mix up" with the tickets! Another 10 mins go by & a wonderful toasted chicken croissant is delivered. Said she FORGOT 🙄 Honestly would have spent more $$ on pastry but I FORGOT
Tried this spot waiting for the last ferry. Cool upstairs but very disappointing coffee. Extremely weak shot (possibly not even any coffee in my drink). Tasted like warm milk. To my further dismay the 16 ounce drink had only 8 ounces of drink with the rest foam. I am extremely disappointed that I gave this establishment a try.
I came in for my usual chicken salad croissant. The girl who greeted me at the front counter was very friendly and kind. For the two girls in the back of the kitchen snickering and what seemed like gossiping. Please simply do your job and stay professional. I felt like I was back in high school. Very upsetting experience. I will probably be going to Chicken Salad Chick from now on. Thanks.
Never returning again!!! Worst food service I have ever received. Waiting 1 hour for a to go order is insane. Breakfast tacos are the fastest thing to make. Poor management to not even apologize to customers, offer some thing while we wait, updates from the kitchen, NOTHING.
The place is nice and cozy. Area outside is very pleasant , but service has to be improved . Order 2 drip coffees ,only jne came out and after asking twice after 10 minutes, nobody could resolve the situation . A gentleman came by and resolved the problem by giving me the cup for mentj pour it. Something so easy took them so long to resolve.
I was really excited to try this spot but it was a letdown. It was cramped and hot inside, there were only like 2-3 other customers but I somehow ended up having to wait 20+ minutes for 1 latte. I tried the Willie nelson latte and it was bland, and the espresso itself tasted stale. Definitely not worth the money or drive if you’re not close by.
Really really bummed. Was looking forward to a quiet relaxing late afternoon lunch - we love the vibe and outdoor space here - but we arrived at 2pm on Saturday Nov 15th and were told the grill had already been turned off and food options were no longer available. I recommend advertising “grill hours” if they are different from business hours to avoid customer confusion and disappointment.
Stopped by this coffee shop for breakfast and was really looking forward to it. Unfortunately, the food and coffee were a big letdown. The breakfast was bland and overcooked, and the coffee tasted too sweet not what you’d hope for from a place that specializes in it. That said, the vibe was actually really nice. The space is cozy and well-designed, with a relaxed atmosphere that makes you want to hang out for a while. friendly staff, and a good place to chill or get some work done — just not for the food or drinks. Would definitely come back to enjoy the space, but I’ll be grabbing coffee elsewhere first.
I had an appointment in old town Helotes that I was early for so l decided to stop in for a coffee while I waited. I walked in and it looked like the barista was visiting with a friend. It ended quickly and the person walked away. I walked up to the counter to ask a question or even have a friendly exchange and the barista didn't acknowledge me. She didn't say hi, didn't even look my way. We were like 3ft apart! | was standing at the counter just looking at her as she moved around as if I was invisible. So I asked her "do I order with you?" She completely ignored me. I honestly debated that maybe she was deaf? I asked the question again and she barely let out a "yeah" grunt while adjusting her AirPod (one side was in). I sat there for a second and debated on ordering anyway- before someone came out from the back and passed me up looking equally as miserable as the young lady behind the counter. I took my son's hand and walked out. I was appalled at the lack of courtesy. I wouldn't stand face to face with a stranger and act so superior let alone running an establishment! It was going to be my first time there but nevermind. I went to my appointment coffee-less but they recommended Texas Grounds to me so that was my next stop. How sad because this place looked so cute and quaint. Like a happy place but I walked in to very miserable people.- adding that I was the only person there on a Wednesday afternoon.
