General Wok

We've eaten there several times. They have a clean and simple, casual atmosphere. The prices are very reasonable, the portions are decent and the food is good. My favorite is the Teriyaki Chicken, my husband loves the Triple Delight. Their lunch special is a really good bargain too!

This restaurant was Absolutely amazing! The food looked delicious and tasted delicious. It's reasonably priced and you get a ton of food. We got our food in less than 8 minutes and the staff was really nice. Definitely a 5-star restaurant!

When the new owners took over, the old went down hill bad. But now it has come back to where it used to be. The egg rolls aren't the same, but I'm assuming they use a different supplier. All and all. Good place for lunch. Nice people.

Loved the place. I've been here a few times through work, so I decided to take my wife and 3 kids and they really enjoyed themselves and were quite satisfied with their meals The portions are pretty hefty for the price. We only spent about $30 for all of us. We will be going back for sure!

Food was okay. I liked it better before it closed. I believe this is operated by different people than it was previously. Inside restaurant is different than before and seems cleaner. Food taste different, portions are not the same. Prices are higher, which is understandable as everything cost more these days. I would eat again.

To that I suggested if they had a pick 2 from the menu and charged like .50 higher, it would make the customer happy. They cook this while you wait so it would not be a problem. I Love their food as I drove 20 miles just to eat there. Maybe the owner will amend the menu.

Nice place with good food. Lots of variety to pick from. Buffet goes on forever. Egg drop soup was divine! Fried bread was too!! General chicken was delicious....spicy but not ridiculous. Definitely recommend if you want a Chinese food fix.

The food was OK, not bad, but also not much better than average. The hot & sour soup was disgusting. As a chef of over 25yrs, I'm pretty stern with my judgments, but I'm simultaneously very fair.

I would've given food a 5 star.but the yellow rice used instead of regular brown rice throws the traditional dishes taste off... I feel it should be an option like steamed rice.. not the norm

Pretty good drive through Chinese cuisine. I usually go with the house lo mein and sweet and sour chicken. The combo comes with an eggroll. With a drink, usually $10. Not much else to say. The meals are consistent each time and I know that the wait time will be around 5-10 minutes for my order. Drive through staff is friendly.

New management, remodeled on the inside looks nice egg rolls still the same however I wish they would use medium shrimp instead of bleached out salad shrimp in their shrimp fried rice other than that welcome back.

Food and service was great BUT they need to turn their thermostat down OR get their A/C serviced. First time customer, always wondered why they have a booming drive thru business but little in person. It's too dang hot to eat spicy food inside when it's 80 degrees and the small fans they have in the dining area just don't get the job done.

This is my second time eating from here. I ordered the egg drop soup and it has a tang to it I do not like at all. The other food is good but whatever twang they are adding to the egg drop soup just dissatisfied me. The customer service is ok... The lady could be nicer ...

The food was okay but the beef seems old from yesterday and I saw a huge roach in the restaurant. Made me think if roaches are on the food.

Probably the worst Chinese takeout I have ordered in Beaumont so far. gummy slimy chicken (General chicken) , plain bland rice . It looks like You get way better food if you “dine in” 2 stars because the fortune cookie was good And the food was at least hot . Forced to eat it not to waste the $23 .

I had the chicken fried rice it was dry and the chicken tasted old. Sorry won't be coming back

SAVE YOUR MONEY AND TIME, DONT EAT HERE!!!! My rice is a vibrant yellow (not good), looks like it came from a $.99 microwavable bag.. "pepper steak" has more carrots and some white root, than it does peppers and onion Not to mention 5 slices of beef in a full order..... Giant balls of paste tasted like a straight shot of soy sauce x10. Didnt even smell good made my car stink, And i like some pungent foods. Never have i been somewhere this bad.. Taste, Budget, Healthy, Nothing was good about that "food"

The customer service here is very poor, and unsatisfactory because I ordered the sweet and sour pork, well the meat was over cooked tasted a little tuff, so I brought it back in and then when I told the man my order is not right he’s going to say well I can’t do anything we don’t do refunds ,remind I never asked for a refund, so I asked well you can’t just remake me something for the customer service he talking about no exchanges or refunds so I’m like alright jus throw it away for me, in conclusion they don’t care about the customers they only care about making the money, spend your money somewhere else where it’s not a problem to fix your order if it was wrong shaking my head.

My girlfriend and I found out the Wok was reopening after being closed for so long. We loved the food here and hailed it as the best chinese food in town for a long time. We were sad to see it close down, but after the visit we had it may have been better had the Wok not reopened. We walked in on a Saturday night and saw the restaurant. If you visited the place 8 or 9 months ago, I'm sure you remember it appearing to not be the cleanest restaurant you've walked into. The new owners put in some hard work and TLC and polished the place up fairly well - certainly a good first impression. We both ordered the Orange Chicken with lo mein. The food was out quickly; maybe 3 minutes after we sat down. Well, I know it takes far longer than that to prepare any part of our meals so I imagine there were just warmers filled with food waiting to be plated and served. It was steaming hot, so I didn't think much of it. The food itself is a far cry from the old business quality. The orange chicken didn't taste like oranges or chicken. In fact, it had no flavor at all unless you rationed the tiny slivers of burned orange rind and included a piece to every bite you took. The so-called lo mein was arguably worse than the orange chicken. The noodles were incredibly over cooked to the point of being one step above the texture of mashed potatoes. They were glazed in what Im assumed was teriyaki sauce which provided all the flavor. Now, I'm not an expert on lo mein by any stretch of the definition. However, every single time I have ordered lo mein, be it from the old General Wok or from another chinese place, it came with some sort of vegetables mixed into it like cabbage or carrots or something. Maybe that's a courtesy on the part of restaurants which include them, because our lo mein was just saucy noodles. Nothing more. As if the lo mein couldn't get worse, (because it did) it was incredibly obvious that it was just spaghetti noodles they over-cooked up. Once again, I'm no expert, but I could've swore that spaghetti wasn't chinese. Anyways, we were hungry and I paid $27 for our two meals so we choked it down as best we could. Now for the reason for this long winded, detailed review. Not two hours after we got back home both me and my girlfriend were sick. If General Wok was the cause of of us getting sick (which I'd bet my $27 on) then it was undoubtedly the worst food poisoning we've ever had the displeasure of experiencing. Dizziness, nausea, unending waves of intestinal pain, cold sweats, dehydration, and of course the multiple bathroom visits were our common symptoms. Both of us were disabled for 3 days because of whatever afflicted us making me cringe at the thought of whatever bacterium was in that bland, unappealing, unappetizing food we ate. The service was nice, the new management is nice, the restaurant being clean and bright is nice, the new decor is nice, but because I nearly called the health department on this place is why I took the time out of my day to leave this warning to anyone who's thinking about going to the General Wok thinking that it'll be the even close to the same as how it was before. One star is too many.

I ordered sweet and sour chicken. The chicken was not cooked. Mushy inside and the coating was not brown it was white on one side.

I ordered shrimp / chicken with fried rice. Instead was served the house special which was nothing like that. I confronted them concerning this and was told I would have to eat this. I will not be back.

I grabbed general tso chicken meal here yesterday. It was ok, nothing special. Fried rice is as plain as they come. Got the egg drop soup, HORRIBLE!! Not even edible!! The crab Rangoons was no good either. I definitely wouldn't go back nor recommend.
