Judy was fantastic! She was friendly, attentive, and very professional from start to finish. She made great recommendations, checked in at just the right times, and kept everything running smoothly without ever feeling rushed. Her positive attitude really elevated the whole dim sum experience. You can tell she genuinely cares about the guests and takes pride in her work. We’ll definitely be asking for Judy again next time!

I love ocean palace, it is my GO-TO dim sum spot in Houston. A staple restaurant with great vibes and the traditional rolling carts on the weekends! It gets very busy at times. Service is fast. Now, the food: 1) Shu Mai: I'd say my favorite in Houston. They consistently do it well. 2) Shrimp Rice Roll: My family's favorite, decent amount of shrimp inside too, and I love the slightly sweet soy sauce on top 3) Truffle Shu Mai: I like this one! It's unique and delicious. Good truffle flavor 4) Fried Crab Claw: Standard, good crispy lightly fried outside with a big chunk of crab meat mixture. Dipped in the sweet and sour sauce, this dish is always a comfort item for me. 5) Turnip Cake: got this once and it was good! crispy outside, desnse-but tender bite, savory not too salty. ⭐️ 6) PEKING DUCK: omg this one was amazing, actually one of my favorites in Houston. I'd say if not number 1 then it's number 2 for me. The duck itself is great. You get that crispy skin and juicy duck meat. But what stands out the most is that instead of a duck soup, you get this stir fried duck meat lettuce wrap side. That stir fry is slightly sweet, savory, and sooo delicious. ⭐️ 7) Baked salted egg lava bao: omg my love. okay this is the dish that I get every single time I come without fail. You get the most delectable bolo (pineapple bun) stuffed with a gritty, sweet, salted egg yolk molten liquid inside. The bun itself is SO good, the texture is slightly chewy, delicious, and you have that sweet crust on top. There are many more I tried but I fear this review would be pages and pages long. If you made it this far into the review, thanks for reading, and if you want to try Ocean Palace get number 7 !!

Ocean Palace is truly a Houston staple for dim sum! The food is always fresh, flavorful, and served with that lively, authentic dim sum atmosphere that makes the experience so special. The variety is incredible—everything from har gow and shumai to crispy taro puffs and sweet lava buns. Perfect spot for groups and family gatherings since the space is huge and there’s something for everyone to enjoy. Yes, it gets busy on weekends, but that just adds to the energy and excitement. Service is quick and friendly, even with the crowds. If you want classic, delicious dim sum in Houston, Ocean Palace is a must-visit!

It was our first time there and we loved the food and service. I hope they could make sure to correct the waiting time in the future because it was not correct. Our time was up on the phone app, but we had to wait for additional 30 to 45 mns after we arrived. I would be back if I am in town again and would recommend this restaurant to anyone who likes the Chinese Dim Sum!

I lived in China… and this restaurant reminds me of my favorite restaurant there called “Grandma’s Kitchen.” I won’t lie: This restaurant is a happy place for me! I drive to Houston for family, work and medical appointments from Dallas-Fort Worth and also East Texas. I always go out of my way to come here. Better get there before non or the baked salted egg lava buns will run out. And you haven’t lived until you’ve tried them! Also a highlight: The bok choy and salted egg sautéed okra. To die for! The best ever.

Service and dim sum were excellent! Our waitress was very attentive and helpful! All of the dim sum that we ordered were fresh and delicious. We will definitely come back!

Our server Thomas was wonderful. It was our first time to this restaurant and he guided us through the menu and how to order. He was very attentive to our table despite the restaurant being incredibly busy. Highly recommend placing yourself on the waiting list when you are in the car on your way to the restaurant. Our favorite part about din sum is the ability to try a number of dishes and this location was no exception to that. We felt like we had the opportunity to eat all sorts of dishes and they were all tasty.

My friend and I came to this restaurant for dim sum. The dim sum was alright. I did not like the congee rice soup with beef because it tasted too plain. The beef tripe was too greasy. The restaurant is absolutely beautiful. The service was nice.

We were able get a table on a Saturday brunch time. I’d say this was an above average dim sum / Chinese Restaurant (4-star). The flavors were delicious. The food was freshly prepared. The ambiance was missing the typical dim sum feel with more carts serving the people. I think there were only about three carts that were serving dim sum a la carte. we ordered most dishes from the menu vs getting maybe two or three dishes from the carts. Parking lot was full so be patient in finding a spot. The restaurant was clean. Would recommend and will be back. The service overall was average to below average (2 to 3-stars). I felt like we needed to wave someone down for refills, order more food and for the check.

November 2024 We were looking for a restaurant serving dim sum and also Chinese cuisine. Ocean Palace fit our criteria. Long wait for seating on Sunday but we understand it is during peak hours. The waiting system helped reduced the stress of waiting. Dim sum is ok. However, no communication between the kitchen and our server. They sold out one of our orders but no one informed us. We have to alert our wait staff to find out about our order. We spend most of our time waiting for our food. VERY FRUSTRATING and we lost our appetite after such a long wait. Time is priceless. I don’t like to leave bad review. OP, you can do better!

The egg custards were super tasty and beautiful. Fried taro dumplings were so delicious. The rest of the dishes were normal. The Chang Fen skin was too fragile. Stale dim sum. Everything tasted old n just reheated. It was a slow time anyway- not a lot of people eating so service could have been a little better! Poor service. Bathrooms need tending to.

This place has good food, but the entrance is terrible. The water surrounding the property looks like toxic slush. I felt bad for the ducks swimming in it!

The last time I was here, it was years ago. Today I woke up with the craving for dim sum from Ocean Palace, so here I am. There are typical dishes that I will get in a dim sum place - har gow, pork and century egg congee, rice rolls, buns, pan fried flat rice noodles, and tofu pudding. I had those dishes and they were ok. The har gow could use fresher and bigger shrimps. The congee lacked ginger in it, but the texture was good. The rice rolls weren’t smooth and thin enough. The flat rice noodles and tofu pudding were good. As for the matcha bun, the matcha was only at the top of the bun. There wasn’t any matcha taste, and there should be lava custard inside but mine was dry. Also had the tofu skin roll which was very oily. The service was good and quick. The restaurant would get very noisy, and it would be difficult to talk without letting tables near you hear about your conversation. The restaurant is very popular. I highly recommend getting onto their waitlist, which is available on their website, from the time you set off.

There wasn't anything to write home about ocean palace, their dimsum was pretty average. It was a bit on the pricey side for what we got. Shrimp dumplings were ok and the pork shumai was pretty ehhh. There's so many other better places for dimsum so maybe that's why it was pretty empty when we ate here on a weekend.

I have been coming to Ocean Palace for almost 20 years. This restaurant used to be one of the finest places in Houston for dim sum and Chinese food. It was once a place I proudly brought family and friends to. Unfortunately, my most recent visit was very disappointing and concerning. I went with my son and we spent close to $100 on dim sum and other dishes that looked beautiful, but the food — especially the shrimp — was not fresh. Some of it tasted old and unsafe to eat. We could not finish the food, so we took the rest home. I gave some of it to a friend of mine (who does not live with me). Both of us became sick the next day. My friend — who is also my employee — was so ill that he could not even come to work. This tells me clearly that this was not just about bad taste — the food was not safe for consumption. I want to say something important: The service is still excellent. The waitresses are some of the best in Houston — friendly, kind, and professional. The restaurant itself is welcoming and comfortable. But the food quality and freshness have seriously declined, and that is what matters most. To the owner — this is honest advice from a long-time customer: If this continues, people will notice and stop coming. Please go back to your old standards of freshness and food safety. This restaurant once had an excellent reputation, and it can again — but only if the food is handled properly. I am truly disappointed, especially after supporting this place for so many years.
