Opinions de The Gin at Nolan Creek Belton
Came on Saturday night an hr before closing and they were very welcoming. Was able to seat us immediately and didn’t make us feel uncomfortable for coming so late. In fact, Justin (our waiter) welcomed us with open arms and was so nice to us that we didn’t want to leave. He was very attentive and helped answer any questions we had. He went above and Beyond to make sure we were taken care of! He was very personable and down to earth making it feel like I’ve met him before. They were playing eclectic music of all genres! Nice atmosphere that fits all occasions. Food and drinks were good! Cotton balls were a great recommendation from Justin! Gin fried chicken was delicious! Try their $5 mystery shot (they will make it with preferred liquor)!
My first time visiting and it was amazing. I ordered the BBQ brisket mac n cheese. So good. My friend ordered the bacon jalapeno chicken and she couldn't stop talking about how good it was. We'll definitely be back to try more menu items.
Amazing experience here! Enjoyed the atmosphere within this repurposed and beautiful historic gin near the lovely flowing Nolan Creek! Food was delicious and every bite was savory! Dessert was definitely worth it! Delightful!
The Gin has a lovely vibe and an even greater back balcony with a view of Nolan Creek. We love to get their fresh salads with steak or salmon, order a fresh draft beer and enjoy a nice breeze.
The food has gotten so much better in recent years. We've been blown away. Stuffy and flat bread pizza were incredible. Myra was an amazing waitress
My fiancée and I love to come here for lunch dates. We recently dined with all 7 of our children, right before closing, and the service and food was still great! Location next to the creek is a plus! Love this place!
Overall, this restaurant offered a wonderful dining experience. My vegan tacos were wonderfully seasoned with fresh ingredients. My son thoroughly enjoyed his grilled cheese sandwich and his crispy, well-seasoned fries. The service was attentive and efficient, ensuring a smooth meal from start to finish. If you find yourself in the Belton area, I highly recommend visiting this establishment for a satisfying meal and friendly atmosphere.
The Gin has such a nice vibe for a birthday or dinner party. The upstairs is super cozy, and there’s a great trail by the river right outside for a walk. I really liked the food—I got the stuffed chicken breast and rice with mac n’ cheese and cucumber salad. Everything was delicious! I definitely recommend checking it out.
Really cool place! I love the history! Food was great and so was the service. It is a little bit expensive. That’s my only complaint. Especially the appetizers. $15 for an appetizer is crazy work. Other than that I recommend giving it a try!
One of the Best Ribeyes I’ve Ever Had! The 14 oz Mesquite Ribeye was absolutely phenomenal. Perfectly cooked to a juicy medium-rare, it had that beautiful mesquite-charred crust that gave every bite a smoky, bold flavor without overpowering the natural richness of the beef. The marbling was just right, making it tender and full of flavor throughout. You could tell it was high-quality meat, and the mesquite wood really took it to the next level. No sauce needed—this steak spoke for itself. If you're a true steak lover, this one’s a must-try. I’d come back just for this ribeye. 10/10.
Lovely restaurant. Friendly service and good food. The Texan burger was recommended by the server and it did not disappoint! Located next to the creek, seating available inside and outside. They have happy hour all day Sundays and the last Friday of the month they have stand-up comedy in the evening.
If I could give ten stars, I would. We’ve grabbed brunch at The Gin a few times— the food is great, and the fact that they’re pet-friendly and right by the creek makes it even better. So when my fiancé and I were deciding where to officially tie the knot and sign our marriage papers, we knew the peaceful spot by the creek would be perfect. Afterward, we planned to celebrate with dinner at The Gin, since we’d be bringing our dog along. What we didn’t expect was what happened next: just after we kissed by the creek, we heard cheering and applause — from the staff! This was before they even knew we’d be dining there that evening. Once we arrived, the owner and team went above and beyond to make our evening incredibly special, without any prompting from us. They were warm, thoughtful, and genuinely excited to celebrate with us. They even offered to take photos of us with our friend who officiated the ceremony — a gesture we’ll never forget. And of course, they made sure our golden retriever got plenty of love and attention too! The Gin was always one of our many brunch spots, but now it holds a forever place in our hearts. What was once a weekend stop in is now an all time favorite and a part of our love story. I can’t tell you how wonderful it was to have a genuine human moment with such incredible strangers —we’ll be lifelong patrons because of it. 🌻💕
I just loved this place. Food and the service were good. I'm a little bit hard when it comes to giving five stars for food and service.....BUT the patio was just perfect. It was a lovely day and you could see the river and everyone having a good time in it. The patio itself was basic but nice. It really was the perfect place to have lunch. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Disclaimer – the photo is not The Gun tacos. I ate mine before I remembered I didn't take a picture. It is tacos are very similar to what I ordered. I also ordered a small side of beef to go with it. I do it this way because you get way more vegetables when you do this.
The Gin at Nolan Creek in Belton, Texas, exceeded all expectations and left us thoroughly impressed! We had a last-minute gathering and needed seating for a table of 10. Despite giving them very short notice, the staff went above and beyond to accommodate us quickly and without any hassle. That kind of flexibility and customer service is rare these days and set the tone for a wonderful dining experience. The servers were outstanding—friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive without being overbearing. They took the time to explain the menu in detail, answer all our questions, and make thoughtful recommendations tailored to our preferences. Their professionalism and warmth truly elevated the experience. We started with the fried pickles, and they were the perfect appetizer to share with our group. They came out hot, crispy, and seasoned just right. These weren’t your average fried pickles—they were a great balance of crunch and flavor, making them a must-try for anyone visiting. For our entrees, several of us ordered the surf-and-turf mahi and the 8-ounce steak. Words cannot do this dish justice—it was absolutely phenomenal! The steak was tender and cooked exactly to our liking, with a rich, savory flavor that paired perfectly with the delicate, flaky mahi. The preparation and presentation of both were top-notch, rivaling anything you’d find at a high-end steakhouse. One thing to note is that while the side portions were on the smaller side, the flavor made up for it. For those who like hearty meals, you’ll be thrilled with the burgers here. They’re massive, packed with flavor, and everything you want in a burger—juicy, well-seasoned, and satisfying. It’s clear that a lot of care goes into every dish, from the simple to the more complex. The ambiance of The Gin is also worth mentioning. The setting by Nolan Creek adds a charming and relaxing touch, making it an excellent spot for both casual get-togethers and special occasions. Whether you’re dining indoors or enjoying the view from the outdoor seating, the atmosphere is inviting and comfortable. This was one of the better dining experiences we’ve had in a long time. From the accommodating staff to the delicious food and the warm, welcoming vibe, The Gin at Nolan Creek has earned a spot at the top of our favorites list. Highly recommend it to anyone in the area or passing through Belton! We’re already looking forward to our next visit.

Nice atmosphere in a historic landmark building on Nolan Creek. For those familiar with the old Gin, the restaurant and menu were completely redone a while ago. The small bar in the sunken lower level is cozy and comfortable with friendly staff and sports viewing. Good place for a drink if waiting on a table. The menu has good variety and reasonable prices. Not gourmet but good quality with fair attention to detail in the food presentation. The Cajun shrimp fettuccine was good, though the garlic toast (plain white bread slices) was disappointing: some Texas toast would be a big improvement. The blackened mahi was a little bland: could use more seasoning/heat. The mixed drinks were well prepared and generous. The "donut" bread pudding is a nice dessert finish. The outside patio overlooking Nolan creek and the bandstand gives access to live entertainment on Thurs-Sat nights. Overall a decent restaurant and fun location.
This restaurant is housed in a historic building full of character, where walls adorned with old photographs transport you to the past. The ambiance is warm and inviting, with a rustic touch. The riverside patio, with its serene views, adds an extra layer of tranquility—perfect for a leisurely brunch. The pancake chicken tacos are a must-try! An delicious combination, with generous portions that satisfy without feeling heavy. The rest of the menu maintains that perfect balance between homestyle flavors and thoughtful presentation. The service was attentive yet discreet, ideal for a relaxed morning with friends or a partner. Without a doubt, this is a place where history, great food, and riverside charm come together for a good experience.
Set in an old Gin. near a small creek that runs through Belton Texas. Really decorated well, as you can see from the pictures. Great place, overall.. Sadie took great care of us. She's just super sweet and knowledgeable. The food was really pretty good, but there are a couple of exceptions. I'll start with mine. Mine was this shrimp stroganoff, and it was really good. The shrimp was great. The stroganoff was great if a bit too much pepper. I'm kind of a pepper freak. I love using it, so for me it was fine. My issue with my plate was it just had a little slice of toast. I mean, this is a fancier casual, nice dining type of place. It should have been garlic bread or Texas toast or some kind of specialty rolls. That's just me, but I think it it was presented very well, but it would have been better had that been upgraded. For Hers, she didn't like it much she had the Veggie Mac... The thing was, it just didn't seem to be a really great special cheese or anything. It just seemed to be a normal cheddar, and it wasn't a good one at that. As far as our taste goes, you may love it. But yeah, we just didn't overall. I want to tell you the food's very good normally. We've been there three or four times, and i've had things like the chicken fried steak and the onion rings, and a lot of other things that were great.
Okay, just as I previously suspected, eating in the bar area bumped this review up a star! It's a little sunken room with a cool secret-y vibe.\n\nService was great. Our bartender had a lot of great …

The building itself is kinda cool. The food we had was okay. I don't think we got our money's worth. All of the prices were twice as high as what I saw online. I think perhaps you pay for atmosphere as much as food. The service was fine. I probably wouldn't have went there if I knew what their prices were. I would imagine all of their food is good. The chair that I had, had a loose arm rest so I couldn't move my chair closer to the table, which made it hard on my back. I am sure I could have requested a different chair and they would have accommodated me.
The staff was friendly, food service was better than expected for a large party, and the location/building are welcoming and bright. We were here on a Saturday evening (5:30 reservation) and they were out of ribeye, shrimp and chili. They're other grilled entree options are limited unless you want something very rich or a salad with chicken. The chicken fried chicken and chicken fried steak were just okay. The batter was well seasoned but we expected a place with so many fried items on their menu would know how to make breading stick to the items they fry. The batter on each were well seasoned but the meat in each were bland, which probably wouldn't have been noticeable if the breading stuck to the meat. The fries, sauteed green beans, and mashed potatoes were all very good. All the food was obviously made from high quality ingredients, which makes the poor use of the main entrees so disappointing. We don't normally have drinks when we go out but decided to have a margarita this time. I specifically asked if they had a margarita made with fresh lime juice and not a sweet and sour mix. I was told they did and ordered one with their house tequila. What I was served tastes like it was made with watered down sweet n sour mix and a half pour of tequila with no triple sec. I don't know if the wait staff didn't understand what I was asking, if the order was put in incorrectly, or the bar staff just doesn't make a very good margarita but I recommend you try something else here. Overall it was a very average experience. We had a nice enough time celebrating a birthday for a family member, but nothing was so exceptional that we will make the drive to come back.
We arrived around 4:50. We entered from the tavern side and walked through a mostly empty bar area. The host is outside near the town square side. We waited 30+ minutes to be seated around 5:30 in the same empty area we walked past before. We had the cotton balls as apps and I had the chicken fried steak. The chicken in the cotton balls had no seasoning and was bland. Thankfully the bacon gave a little flavor. Blandness seemed to be the theme throughout minus the heavy amount of salt in the chicken fried steak breading. The atmosphere is nice minus the sour smell near the bar. The service was the best thing about the place. Our server took great care of us.
I hate to say this, but I wasn’t as impressed with this restaurant as I wanted to be. The location is so cute and perfect, the whole place is gorgeous and the staff we encountered were so friendly. It’s the food quality for me. The cotton balls appetizer was very good, but our entree was just okay. We both got different Mac and cheese dinners and the Mac and cheese needs some help. Didn’t have any flavor, and reminded me of hospital Mac and cheese. Was edible but kinda disappointed
Had a mid-afternoon lunch and it was just ok. Menu was limited but service was decent. Atmosphere and view was nice! Was a fun area!

Lunchtime on a Sunday, estimated 10 minute wait, seated in 5. Courteous host and wait staff. Chicken Fried steak was burnt. Bewildering they would let it out of the kitchen like that. (Photo) Gin club sandwich was dry and underwhelming. Mule-jito was a creative cocktail and tasted really good. It took 20 minutes for it to get to our table though. Ordered one before our main entrees, and didn't receive it until we were paying the tab.

We've been to The Gin before and loved it!! The Stuffy Chicken is heavenly. We were really excited to go for date night. Got seated immediately, and then that was it. No one came to our table for about 15 minutes. Then the host came and said that they were really busy with "bigger" tables. And that our server wouldn't be able to come get our order or assist us for a "very long time". I asked if we could at least put in an appetizer order while we wait for our server to be more available for us, and was told no. Um.... bizarre. I mentioned that I didn't want to be a burden, but my husband and I just wanted to have a nice dinner, and was then told by the host that we would be able to eat if we went somewhere else. I have never been treated so disrespectful in a nicer establishment. We left there absolutely horrified and embarrassed. They lost customers for life. I will never go back.
