Opinions de Móle Bergenfield
The chicken was tender and perfectly seasoned, the tortillas crisped up just right, and everything tasted so fresh and made-to-order.
The nearness to my other errands made this visit possible. The team showed both competence and warm hospitality. Their cooking creates uncommonly good flavors. This place satisfies in every way. This restaurant earns my total confidence!
Came here on a super cold day. Very easy to get a table. Service was very attentive, the bartender was also serving. We got the shrimp and steak tacos. As well as the chicken soup which is not in the photos. The soup was amazing, very flavorful, just wish there was more in there, the ratio from ingredients to broth was very off. Way more broth than we wanted. The shrimp tacos were ok, lots of lettuce and salsa not enough shrimp. The steak tacos were amazing! Great portions and wonderful flavor!
We were lucky enough to be seated quickly outside but I had to grab a server to take our order as we weren't attended to ( waited a while). After that the service and food were both very good. Margarita was just ok. Update. Went back recently for brunch. Good service, excellent burgers though a little expensive .
Amazing quality Mexican food here on a quiet street in a very hipster part of town. Definitely try and get a seat outside to enjoy the sun and calm ambiance around you. I ordered the hard taco on the lunch menu, which was significantly cheaper than the ones on the regular menu and a great size for anyone with a big appetite after walking about 15,000 steps. The guacamole wasn’t too spicy, so I recommend mixing it with the salsa and asking for more chilli sauce.
I really enjoyed eating at Mole. The food was tasty and the service was terrific. Our waiter Hector treated us well and made excellent recommendations. We decided to eat outside which was perfect, however the inside was very nice as well. The Margheritas were good, not great. But it didn't stop me from ordering two. My civeche was full of flavor and very satisfying. The chicken, fish and steak tacos were also delicious. I really enjoyed their guacamole as well. I would definitely return!
Stopped here for a late, but enjoyable lunch! This Móle location has a lot of outdoor dining tables with a smaller indoor areas (branching outside the restaurant in addition to being inside the actual building). It was pretty cold the day we went and we tried sitting outside first, but then decided to move indoors because it was way too chilly with the wind. The outdoor tables are spaced very far apart, and indoor area had dividers between tables which made it feel safer. The table we ended up moving to was in the corner by the window which was really nice. (Note: this place is pretty busy so you may have to wait if you don’t have a Rez) For food, we got the quesadillas, and salad with shrimp. Food was tasty! And for drinks we tried different margaritas (classic, strawberry). The margs were good and were on the stronger side.
We had a 6:30 reservation tonight at Mole on Jane St. Nice welcome, food was very good, bill including drinks & tip came to $70 per person. I pay the bill and when my wife and I return from the restroom, the table is empty, our stuff is gone. They had told our party to get out, though it had not been more than 90 minutes. We went outside in March weather to meet the rest of our party carrying out coats and bags.
Today I went to get a meal and one of the servers told me to get out and go somewhere else since he refused to attend me since he said “ I was giving him attitude” I was trying to figure out why the door was closed and I was making gestures through the window to let him know we where two people trying to get in. In their website( when reviewed ) it was open at 10 am and I was there around 12 … I asked to speak with the manager and he denied the request at 3 pm I called the restaurant and the same guy who threw me out of the location on 57 Jane street in NYC …denied me the opportunity to explain myself to the manager . I had gone to this restaurant so many times and I had never had such a nasty experience this guy was so rude. Be aware of this guy who has no clue of how to provide a proper and effective service…
Entering, we asked to be seated in the rear, told we couldn't, then the guy let us, which was rude. There were empty tables throughout our dinner. The tables are too small and there was no place to put our coats, bags, etc. Food was mediocre. It didn't particularly taste Mexican. Nothing was flavorful enough. I found it totally disappointing.
After a stroll at the High Line on a Saturday afternoon, my date and I went to search for food at nearby restaurants. We were waitlisted for 30 minutes, so we decided to look for another place because we were hungry and came across Móle. The reviews online were good so we decided to give it a try. We were quickly seated. There were indoor and outdoor seats available, both almost at full capacity, which is always a good sign in my book. The waiter seated us down and gave us some menus. We were surprised that they still served "brunch" at 2 pm. Their brunch hours ran from 12 - 4 pm. The waiter finally came back 10 minutes later to take our orders: Steak and Eggs and Huevos con Chorizo. He returned to give us some water and utensils. More people were seated and we waited, and waited, and waited.... We decided to ask our waiter if our food was on the way, as it has been 45 minutes since we ordered. He was very apologetic, stating that the restaurant was very busy and that he would check on our food. A moment later the bus boy returned with our meals. The diners behind us that had come at the same time had just finished their meals as our food arrived. I thanked the waiter for checking in on our food, otherwise it would have never arrived. He apologized again, saying that he has so many sections to take care of. He explained that everyone's orders came in the order that we came. I understand. I too was a waitress once. But when the table that had come at the same time as us had finished both their appetizers and main course before our meals even arrived, there is something really wrong with the picture. Our meals arrived stone cold. They clearly had been sitting for a while before we were served. I rarely complain about my food as I am generally easily impressed and satisfied. As the saying goes, "everything tastes better when you're hungry." Right? Unfortunately, not this time. Our meals were less than decent. My steak was supposed to be medium rare, but it came with a variety of doneness ranging from medium well, well-done, and some burnt bitter crisps, and no I am not talking about char. The eggs were thankfully done right, but sadly also cold. Besides the huge portion, my date was equally unimpressed by his meal. His omelette was cold, the chorizo dry, the toasts were only toasted on one side, and almost burnt too. The only saving grace of the meals were the arugula salad and lukewarm stir-fried potatoes and bell peppers. Halfway, my date told me to stop eating the meal and wanted to just leave the rest behind. My upbringing made it hard for me to throw out food, even awful ones. I could have sent the steak back and asked for it to be redone, but I didn't want to wait another hour for my food to come as we were starving. From that experience, I could tell that the chefs and line cooks have clearly never worked at a restaurant before, or at least a busy restaurant. The meals looked picture perfect, but the temperature tells a different story altogether. Unlike a home-cooked meal that one can take time to prepare, as there is no time limit or constraints, a restaurant prepared meal takes plenty of thought and timing. It is a type of art that requires years of practice. Preparation time between when one needs to fire the steak and potato, and the challenge to match it with the preparation time of the omelette and toasts, requires plenty of skills and coordination. A basic skill that they clearly lack. We thanked and tipped our waiter 20% out of courtesy. Unfortunately, we would take a pass on this place the next time we are in this neighborhood. 1 out of 5 ⭐
