Opinions de Saint Tropez Wine Bar New York
My family and I have been coming to this restaurant for a long time now, and I can genuinely say it’s our favorite place to eat in the entire city. The food is always incredible, the prices are more than fair, and the overall experience is consistently top-tier, but what truly makes this place special is the service. Ali goes above and beyond every single time we visit. He’s attentive, welcoming, and truly makes us feel taken care of like family, not just customers. It’s rare to find someone who takes such pride in what they do and creates an experience that keeps you wanting to come back again and again. Because of Ali, every visit feels personal, comfortable, and memorable. He’s a big reason why this place stands out from anywhere else we’ve been. We always leave happy, and it’s all thanks to him and the amazing service from everyone there. Highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking not just for amazing food, but for genuine hospitality.
St Tropez West Village is nothing short of magical - it’s cozy and romantic with big bay windows and a rustic homey feel. Very well done French bistro cuisine. Love the hanger steak and scallops. And the desserts… save room and splurge, you will not regret it. Food, service and wine selection - all are above and beyond. If you are looking for a cute, classy West Village date spot, this is it! Book one of the super cute bay windows that look out on West 4th Street. It’s dreamy… P.s. I’ve been many times. Read on for a personal story and if you’d like to know more :) Most recent visit was this Wednesday before Thanksgiving. I called the restaurant to book one very specific window bay, and I enlisted their help in proposing to my now fiancée! We had our first date here and I wanted to recreate our first date. Yohann and Ali and their staff pulled out all the stops to make our evening perfect, from setting up our table with photos and capturing our moment, to letting us celebrate well after the last patrons had left, and like I said, always save room for dessert here. The chocolate mousse can change your world. I hadn’t met the owner and management until this week, but they insisted on treating us to champagne, several desserts, honestly, it was too kind. St Tropez is a West Village neighborhood gem that will warm your heart and satisfy your palate.
Came here for lunch & fell in love with this little simple French boutique restaurant! The open style kitchen gives it a home feeling. It wasn’t busy and has outside seating. This hidden gem came with such amazing flavors in everything I tasted shrimp and meatball appetizers are a must and the chef granted us The beef bourguignon for lunch and am I glad he did !!! The service was great and they made us all the martinis with love. If you’re in the west village definitely drop in !! See you there. 💛
I absolutely love this French restaurant!!! I went there first time Six years ago when I just moved to New York and fall in love! And keep coming back! They have amazing food , great service, and atmosphere! This time we ordered oysters , Foie gras, hanger steak and truffle risotto with scallops, and creme brulee for desert. Everything was FANTASTIC! And had some special cocktails. I will highly recommend this place for everyone who is looking for cute spot in West Village and good food.
We were visiting from out of town and had made a reservation about a month in advance. When we arrived at the restaurant, we were given the choice between a small table closely packed among others or a table in the back of the room. Neither option appealed to us, so we opted to sit at the bar instead—which actually turned out to be a great decision. They do offer outdoor seating, but unfortunately, nothing was available at the time. We started with the Berry Espresso Martini, and it was one of the best I’ve had—smooth, flavorful, and well balanced. Huge kudos to our bartender, Mayline, who took care of us the entire night. Her warm hospitality and attention to detail truly made our evening special. For an appetizer, we had the hummus, which was absolutely delicious—though it could’ve used a few more pancakes to round out the dish. For mains, my wife ordered the scallops with carrot mash, and I went with the NY steak. The scallops were perfectly cooked, and the light, delicate carrot mash complemented them beautifully. The steak wasn’t the best I’ve ever had, but it was still solid and satisfying. After dinner, we wandered around the area and checked out a few local spots recommended by Mayline—she didn’t miss all night.
Everything here was perfectly seasoned and delicious. Various types of textures within each dish so it’s consistently both tasty and interesting to eat. Service was lovely. Our server was attentive and helped us land a few of our dishes based on what we were looking to eat that night. Atmosphere is warm, cozy, and dimly lit. It was still at a good volume though it was dinner time, which was pleasant because it was during peak dinner hours.
Very tasty food! Friendly service, nice ambience. We had the grilled shrimp, steak tartare and the scallop risotto. Risotto was super creamy and the scallop was plump and meaty. All very flavorful and delicious! Also menu kindly noted gluten free options and other allergens which was super helpful!
Highly recommend! The food was amazing, and the service was top-notch. I got a last-minute reservation, and even though they were packed, they still managed to get me a great table. The drinks were a 10/10, and the Steak and Eggs dish was delicious and generously portioned. Definitely worth coming to the West Village for brunch or dinner!
Romantic French gem on West 4th Street. Our dashing Turkish waiter set the stage for refreshing cocktails, escargot, campaigne appetizers, shrimp and scallops. The sweet potato purée was to die for! Off the beaten path if you’re visiting the Whitney, Chelsea Market and walking around the West Village. Filled with lovely New Yorkers. Not over priced! Bravo!
I had the pleasure of dining at St. Tropez in the West Village, and I can confidently say it was a truly wonderful experience from start to finish! The atmosphere is warm and inviting, making it the perfect spot for a special evening out. We decided to dine al fresco on the street, and it was absolutely delightful, with the charming surroundings enhancing our experience on such a beautiful evening. We started our meal with a delightful Fromage & Charcuterie board, which was absolutely divine and paired wonderfully with our wine choices. The selection featured an exquisite variety of cheeses and cured meats that perfectly complemented each other. My husband began his meal with the Crevettes à l'Aïoli (grilled shrimp with Provence herbs, sun-dried tomatoes, and tarragon), and he couldn’t stop raving about the vibrant flavors and succulent shrimp. For our main courses, I ordered the Jarret d’Agneau (lamb shank), and it was nothing short of extraordinary. The lamb was tender, flavorful, and cooked to perfection, truly showcasing the chef’s skill. My husband opted for the salmon, which was equally impressive, beautifully plated and bursting with freshness. The attentive service added to the overall experience, with staff members who were knowledgeable and eager to recommend perfect pairings for our meal. Their passion for the food and wine truly shone through. Overall, St. Tropez West Village is a culinary gem that I cannot recommend highly enough. The combination of exquisite dishes, a lovely ambiance, and attentive service made for an unforgettable evening. I can’t wait to return to explore more of their delicious offerings!
The ambiance is very cozy, full of life. The interior is simply yet elegantly decorated, with spacious outdoor seating under a floral canopy, creating a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere—there's always a crowd waiting, perfect for dates and small gatherings with friends and family. From 4:30-6:30, it's happy hour with $10 wines and $2.5 oysters. Boulettes Provençales This dish perfectly combines beef meatballs, traditional Provençal vegetable stew (ratatouille), tomato sauce, and Parmesan cheese. The meatballs are plump and juicy, the rich tomato sauce is sweet and tangy, and the Parmesan adds a creamy texture and milky flavor, making it deliciously appealing. Foie Gras de Canard & Toasts Foie Gras de Canard served with a sweet and sour apple and pear chutney. The texture is rich and smooth, complementing the fruity chutney beautifully, creating a luxurious yet delicate flavor. Jarret D'Agneau The choice lamb shank is slow-cooked until it's incredibly tender and falls off the bone! The mashed potatoes are soft, smooth, and creamy, a perfect complement to the lamb. The Portobello sauce adds a deep woody aroma and a subtle sweetness—truly a genuine European delicacy.
The atmosphere was full of good looking young people location is great given Greenwich Village Townhouse rich vibes, music made it super fun for our Valentines day dinner. Food highlight was the creme brulee. The peppercorn sauce for the steak disappointed but stake was soft and juicy and side potatoes delicious. Moules were ok not great. Draft beer was delicious and crispy cold.
We came here for dinner over the weekend. It’s a nice, cozy spot, maximizing the limited space for seating, as many spots in the area do. We sat on bar stools by the window, which looks out on the street. The service was attentive and we enjoyed the nicely plated dishes we ordered. I was too full for dessert, but they sounded delicious, too. The only downside was, there were some very loud people whose voice you could hear so loudly even from the bathroom. I’m sure it depends on the crowd, but it wasn’t the most pleasant experience.
We celebrated our summer office happy hour here. These are my thoughts: Pros: - Extremely attentive staff—Ali was truly amazing, one of the best servers ever !!!! -Very affordable compared to similar venues in West Village -Great vibes and atmosphere. -The food and drinks were amazing. Cons: -Not ideal for very large groups; our party of 50 was just about comfortable. -Communication with the event poc was slow—I had to follow up multiple times, which was frustrating at times, but I’m glad it all worked out.
Probably one of the few spots that had space for walk-ins in the West Village for a Sunday brunch - food was decent and their rosé promotion was appreciated, although I don’t know if I’d rush back here. Service was choppy at times especially as it got busy. Overall decent spot if you want a reliable brunch in the Village.
The food is good, not great for the price. What rubbed me the wrong way is that the waiter brought a birthday cake for my friend that nobody ordered, and then charged us for it. This is after the restaurant called us to try and get us to move our reservation, then made us wait past our time after saying “3 more minutes. Overall the hospitality is not there at the price point.
Overall, the experience was disappointing. The main courses were pretty mid. To make matters worse, our waitress accidentally spilled food on me and didn’t even offer to help clean up or replace what was dropped. That said, the Cherry Clafoutis was absolutely excellent. I’d only recommend coming here for that dessert. It’s the one thing that truly stood out.
