This was the first time my daughter and I had breakfast at Cafe M. Although it's extremely popular, very busy, as soon as we got in the Café, the server noticed us and directed us towards a table for two. The next server showed up very quickly to take our order, and 15 minutes later, our food was brought to our table. We were in a rush, so it worked out so well that the entire experience from walking in, to being seated, to eating, to paying, took half an hour. The chefs are great, and every one of the staff we came in contact with was so pleasant. Café M is one of the best 👌 places to frequent.

Great brunch spot with a variety of options on the menu and friendly staff. The blueberry pancakes weren’t too sweet and the sauce on the wet breakfast burrito completed the package. They also didn’t fill it with a bunch of rice and beans (avocado and eggs).

Had a great time at cafe M!!! the service was amazing :) my eggs benedict with bacon and tomato was delicious and flavorful and the potatoes are very crispy and pleasant. plus the atmosphere was lovely!! great place for brunch!!

Great homestyle brunch spot in the bougie shopping center of West Berkeley. The service was excellent here; quick and friendly. They refilled our coffee four times (!!), never letting it get below halfway — really excellent to have a steady supply of coffee flowing. The grilled chicken Cobb salad was fresh and full of flavor — tons of salty bacon and creamy avocado. The Irish Benedict was BIG and hearty, and the scalloped fried potatoes were really unique with a great mix of textures. This sunny spot has a warm, local feel and is well-worth a weekend brunch visit!

NO BOTTOMLESS MIMOSAS HERE! Despite multiple places on Yelp, TripAdvisor, and Google listing that Cafe M in Berkeley has them. This is in no way a reflection on the business as they do not advertise it themselves nor is it on their online menu. That being said, you can get a bottle of sparkling wine in a carafe of orange juice for $27. The restaurant is nicely done on the inside, but quite cool, so where a jacket! Their service was excellent and our waitress Samantha was very sweet and welcoming giving us a lot of suggestions from the menu. I had the wet breakfast burrito, which was delicious! My wife had the combo breakfast, which was also amazing. We highly recommend this place for breakfast or brunch and definitely will be back again. Thanks Cafe M!

Greta breakfast/brunch place in the cool walking and shopping area in Berkeley’s 4th street. Indoor and outdoor seating. Very fast service, both taking the order and the food coming out. High ceilings and a European flair. Eggs Benedict were well prepared with good hollandaise sauce. Great thinly sliced potatoes were a surprise. I was thinking I wanted hash browns, which they don’t have, but these were really good. Unique. And I had the Berkeley Hills Scramble in honor of growing up in the Berkeley hills! Quite yummy Italian sausage and again those delish thin potatoes. Sourdough toast to top it off. I like they have the little jam packets like diners do. July 2025 update: Came back, this time with a larger party and had another great experience. Poached eggs were made just right on English muffin with tomato and avocado with the hollandaise on the side. Home potatoes on the side. Tasty ands filling! The “basic” breakfast was two over medium eggs, sausage, those same home potatoes, and toast. Yummy and it feels healthy for some reason. I think you could get other meats instead, and of course have eggs the way you want’em. Pancakes were light and fluffy. Spectacled with powder sugar. I don’t think it was real maple syrup though. Too bad. Sancheti omelette with chorizo was super tasty. With potatoes and toast it’s quite a meal. And if you like more a lunch meal, then try the Reuben with corned beef, sauerkraut, and thousand island.

Really loved this place for a great breakfast and a quick but tasty lunch. Service was exceptional, friendly, attentive and the food arrived quickly. The food was excellent and I particularly enjoyed their Egg Benedict options for breakfast. I had the mushroom and avocado benedict. The only reason I didn't give it 4 stars is because it was on the expensive side. With tax and tip my breakfast came to $40, which is excessive.

It's a local cafe place with large varieties of American / Mexican brunch options. Foods are fresh delicious with generous portions. Plenty of outdoor seating and indoor tables. Place is accessible with flat floors and wide pathways. Waiters are friendly and responsive. To minimize wait time, make sure to enter waitlist like in Yelp when applicable. Great atmosphere for groups, meetup, kids, seniors, small parties.

Started off with great service. Friendly staff, loved the outdoor seating. The menu was perfect for brunch and with so many great options the only issue was figuring out what to order. In the end the waitress offered to surprise me with choosing one of two I was torn between. Love that confidence in a menu by the staff! The food was good. Flavors were on point, quality of the food was high. Prices were a bit high and my crepe was way too thick and peppered some of the crab cake inside. Ended up eating the innards and left some of the crepe behind. A breakfast crepe, a burrito, and two coffees should not be around 40 bucks, at least not with this quality level. Good food, amazing service, moderate value.

One-line: Decent tasting but overpriced breakfast option in location with few options. No tap payments. I didn’t have to wait at all on a Sunday to get a table at this family owned diner. Even though the waitress was a little busy to give me a menu, the busboy brought one over to me. She came over promptly and took my order. She was personable and did not hover in that typical American style, which I appreciated. I had a craving to Denver omelette and my order was the closest approximation to one. The food did not satisfy the craving (the ingredients seem to be sautéed and they really should’ve been closer to raw) but that’s no fault of the restaurant. They only had the ingredients they have. I found the fresh fruit bowl to be tasty, with a nice mix of berries and pineapple. Having said that, breakfast for one person being almost $40 including tip, which would’ve been nearly $50 had I had a drink as well, is crazy. Especially when the food was really only kind of mid. Then, there aren’t even tap payments. I won’t be back.
