Lavender is my most favorite place in Berkeley. I've been a regular here now for a year and Lavender has become an essential part of my community here. The staff are talented, warm, and generous. They are SO into their craft, and they and the manager are always experimenting with new flavors, methods, and products to make wonderful drinks and delicious menu items. A lot of people come here to work, but it's also wonderful to see the relationships between the staff and regular customers. It creates a fun and caring atmosphere that I adore. All the love to my barista babes <3 My last meal would be a butter croissant with fig jam and a cappuccino from Lavender. I'd also go for their chocolate almond croissant or their apricot chausson with a cortado or their mocha. If you're looking for more, get a pecan butter and jam toast, or their avocado toast (best in the Bay!). Their breads are amazing - earthy and with sourdough tang - and great for the gluten sensitive (that's how good the flour is). I love talking all things food and baked goods with Hanieh, the co-owner. She's an amazing baker, and I love trading tips and tricks with her. Come to Lavender. I'll be there chatting with everyone and sipping my favorite coffee (But not flirting with the baristas, which a recent review accused me of. We were catching up on boy gossip LOL).

Lavender Bread & Cafe’ exceeded my expectations. The bread was fresh and delicious, and the coffee was perfectly brewed. The cozy atmosphere and friendly staff made the visit enjoyable. It’s a great place to relax and enjoy quality food. I highly recommend it.

Lavender's food and drinks are always fantastic. I've never had a bad product here from espresso and pastry to custom special occasion cakes. However, the standout for me here is that this place has been spotless every time I've been in. The dining area is always clean and organized, despite what I'm sure must be loads of spills and plenty of rearrangement of furniture during their busier hours. The ovens, counters, sinks, racks, fridges, backsplashes, vents, cabling, etc. are always very clean and organized. Even the more closed-off kitchen area is clean and organized. The bathroom is also always clean and properly stocked. The staff are consistently courteous, professional, capable, and well-kempt. It is a pleasure to visit a well-run business and to see the evidence of its management in the quality of its products and the priorities of its staff.

I wish I could rate 10 stars. The Egyptian themed cake they created for my 50th birthday was an absolute hit! My guests still can't stop talking about it. It stole the show. I audibly gasped when I saw it. Such an incredible work of art! I've never seen a cake more beautiful, and I doubt I ever will. Just gorgeous! And not only was it the most beautiful thing I've ever seen, it was also absolutely delicious! I couldn't get enough of it. I'm still staring at photos of it, just in awe. If you want a magnificent cake that's also a work of art (and delicious), call these guys. You won't be disappointed.

Great tasting bakery treats! Lavender makes beautiful custom and standard cakes, and all the bakery goods are just fresh, tasty and beautifully decorated. I’m happy to have this as the closest European style bakery nearby. Best for take-out, pickup or pre-orders, some seating space available but mostly for groups of 2-4 not larger.

Lavender Bakery has been one of my favorite bakeries (to die for cheesecake and pies) and I wanted to try their custom cakes for my in-laws' 50th anniversary party. They offered a complimentary cake tasting box which I thoroughly enjoyed and decided on marble cake with chocolate hazelnut ganache. Moist, flavorful and not too sweet. I had submitted some inspo cake pics and they did an amazing job! The cake was beautiful with the requested gold and blue with gold flecks. The Cal Bruin wedding bears they made were so cute and memorable. Truly a remarkable bakery with talented cake decorators. My FIL loved it so much he put the cake photo as his phone wallpaper!

There was a miscommunication on my side of how I wanted my cake order, but day of pickup they were SUPER accommodating and made it just how I wanted on such a time crunch! The customer service was excellent (10/10) and they were very understanding about the miscommunication and went above and beyond to make adjustments. I ordered a custom 3 tier cake for my wedding. They gave us a complimentary tasting with a lot of options. I decided on different flavors for each tier. We were able to get it delivered all the way to Meadow vista for an extra fee. They were very professional and communicating with them was easy. Delivery to the wedding venue was a breeze since they contacted my coordinator. Lastly, the cake was delicious my guests kept on talking about how good it tasted some even raved that it was “The best wedding cake they’ve tasted”.

The guava mousse cake is divine and eclectic. The chocolate cheesecake generous and mouthwatering. The foamy oat milk with hazelnut syrup was delicious. Can’t wait to try more.

The pastries at this cafe are quite delicious. However, one downside is that there aren’t many outdoor seats available. Parking is also a bit tricky — you’ll likely have to park on the street, which is metered. Today, I ordered the burnt almond dessert and the vegan chocolate cheesecake. Both were tasty and fragrant. The chocolate one was rich and sweet — I personally liked it, but I preferred the almond dessert more. The staff were lovely and friendly, which made the visit even more enjoyable.

True artists work here. I ordered a custom cake to look like a tree stump, with white trillium flowers. It was amazing! The details, and realistic edible flowers just brought my dream wedding cake to life. It was my first time ordering a custom cake, the process was easy, the staff helpful/friendly. The red velvet cake itself was moist, delicious, so decadent and rich. It was a really great experience from dreaming of what I wanted, to it being a cake on my wedding day. Worth mentioning, I ordered this from out of state, it was a destination wedding in California. A friend picked it up, said he had a wonderful time doing it. I really hope to visit or re-order on future visits to the bay area!!!

Lavender is a paradise for anyone with a sweet tooth! This was my first time visiting, and so many of my friends had highly recommended it. The variety of pastries on offer was impressive, making it tough to choose just a few. We ended up trying a selection, and each one was absolutely delicious. The flavors were rich, and the textures were perfect. We also ordered their signature Lavender tea and Black tea, both of which were refreshing and complemented the pastries beautifully. The ambiance was cozy, with a charming atmosphere that made the experience even more enjoyable. I highly recommend Lavender to anyone looking to indulge in some amazing treats and enjoy a peaceful tea time. Can't wait to go back!

Came to see the pastries and get a matcha latte. The space is very open, bright from the large windows, and chill. My Matcha latte was tasty and not too sweet! It is very cozy and not too loud. Family friendly. Recommended!

The coffee and the toast is quite good. The pastries a delicious But the woman taking the order made a mistakes and charged for three cappuccinos instead of. Two. When I did not want to take three, they never apologized and did not refund it even after asked. Wearing a mask makes it impossible to understand. It is necessary to repeat or show the order so that the guest knows you understood them and made no mistake.

Delicious latte! But the chocolate hazelnut mousse cake was a bit of a letdown. The mousse is delicious but the sponge cake on the bottom was okayish and comprised most of the depth. The chocolate bars on the side were way too sweet spoiling the balance of the dessert. Might have to try their other offerings to better rate.

I’ve been there about a dozen times. I wouldn’t call it a bad place, but it’s definitely overpriced for what are essentially burnt raisin rolls. And like so many places these days, it felt more like an office than a café, with everyone on their laptops.

Pricey 8 oz. Masala Chai Tea, loaf of vegan bread and a Matcha Ice latte $21. Cold interior and vibe, no thanks!
