Sometimes you stumble on a place that doesn’t feel like it’s trying too hard. It just gets it right. That’s how Toro Sushi Poke House in Burbank felt to me. From the second I walked in, the energy was casual but warm. The kind of spot where the staff greets you quickly, not in a scripted way, but with that easy friendliness that makes you relax a little. It’s the sort of atmosphere that says, “Yeah, you can hang out here without overthinking it.” Toro’s menu isn’t overwhelming, but it has plenty to keep you curious. Poke bowls, sushi rolls, and a handful of little extras give you space to experiment. And here’s the kicker. They run half off deals on certain items all day. That’s not one of those fine print, two hour window gimmicks. It’s just there, ready for you. Who doesn’t smile at a deal like that? If you’re someone who loves to build your own poke bowl, you’ll appreciate the options. Fresh fish, crisp toppings, and sauces that hit the right notes. It all feels like they took some care without making it fussy. I’ll admit it. I’m not the biggest sushi aficionado. But the poke bowl I tried made me stop mid bite and nod. Fresh fish, a balance of flavors, and that clean, satisfying finish you want from a lighter meal. It didn’t try to be overcomplicated. Instead, it just tasted good. Simple as that. Honestly, that’s what you want sometimes. A meal that doesn’t weigh you down but still feels complete. The kind of food you can grab at lunch and still have enough energy to power through the rest of the day. Or take it slow and linger over for dinner. Here’s the thing. Toro doesn’t scream for attention. It’s not covered in neon or blasting music. It’s more of a “if you know, you know” kind of spot. And that makes it feel like a hidden gem. Burbank has no shortage of food choices, but this one stands out for being approachable. You can swing by on your lunch break or bring a friend for a laid back dinner. Either way, you’ll get a meal that leaves you feeling good, not just full. If you’re in Burbank and craving something fresh, easy, and friendly, Toro Sushi Poke House is worth a stop. It’s casual enough for a quick bite and welcoming enough for a sit down. Plus, with those half off deals, it’s tough not to feel like you’ve scored a little win. Sometimes a meal is more than just food. It’s how a place makes you feel. Toro left me with a smile, and honestly, that’s reason enough to go back.

I came here for the first time back in June with my 2 little ones. Eating out with 2 toddlers can be a lot but the owners I believe, made me feel right at home and made sure I had everything I needed. We ate right outside. My kids had ramen and I had sushi. The food being amazing was just the cherry on top. Every now and then the server came to check on us to make sure everything was okay with a smile on his face. It’s not everyday you find a restaurant who’s smiling while having whining crying kids in their establishment. So thank you for making me feel welcome to come back .

Great little hole in the wall restaurant. Cozy, modern, great food and selection. Service was attentive and cordial. There are many sushi spots around here but Toro sets itself apart with its selection, its diversity and attentive, quick service. Great place for small groups. They have a couple outside tables streetside. Good place to people-watch.

I came here to celebrate my husband’s birthday, and we had such a wonderful experience! This place was recommended by my foodie friend, and it definitely lived up to the hype. The sushi was incredibly fresh, and every dish we tried was delicious. My whole family loved their food. I’ll definitely be coming back to try more from their menu. Highly recommend!

The ambiance is quiet, quaint and a place I'd like to eat at when I want some good food with good company. Service was instantaneous and accurate. The food was really good. I don't care for sashimi but there were several items which had cooked fish/shrimp. I am grateful for that and so I will be returning.

I think the Tonkotsu Ramen at Toro Sushi is the best in terms of flavor, value, and portion size. While I used to have various Tonkotsu Ramen dishes in Tokyo two to three times a week, I was pleasantly surprised to find a bowl here on Olive Grove Street (Fernando) in Burbank that tastes even better than the originals in Japan. It definitely made me want to come back again. The sushi was also fresh and delicious. And the 'Tempura Ice Cream' I had for dessert was a delightful highlight- it's unique presentation and taste perfectly capped off the meal, elevating the whole ramen and sushi experience to the next level. The customer service was excellent as well. Highly recommended!

A little quaint sushi place in old town Burbank. Great food, great staff, great atmosphere, at a great price. Can't beat it.

Ate here with friends on their recommendation, while I was visiting from the east coast, and I was not disappointed. The poke is delicious (soft shell crab and scallops are a winning combo, and the black cod is excellent), the sushi is great, and do yourself a favor - get the crab and mozzarella tempura. Everyone working there is super friendly, and the whole place has a very cozy, very chill vibe. I cannot recommend it enough.

2024 Review, new ownership update. They really tried to keep the quality of the food and taste, while improving the atmosphere to clean and enjoyable one. The new owner family is lovely and the most genuine people you will meet. Honest food served by genuine folks. As for the taste and price, they don’t mess with old fish etc. it’s going to be worth your time and taste buds. I’ve had a few experiences with sushi restaurants of similar price range and they are cheaters. This is one of those rare jewel of a place.

Toro sushi strikes again!! I love their sushi and always get the yellow tail sushi but this time I wanted to try something different so I tried their poke. Let me tell you, it did not disappoint!! So fresh and so good. I got salmon and spicy tuna and it went perfect with my rice, spring mix, soba noodles, and all of the freshly prepared toppings. This place never disappoints!

This place was such a great surprise. A friend had recommended it for high-quality sushi, and it absolutely lived up to the hype. I was told they use some of the freshest ingredients around--even compared to a lot of the so-called "authentic" sushi spots in LA--and I could really taste the difference. While I was chatting with the owner, I found out they actually switched ownership earlier this year. The new owners decided to step things up by sourcing ingredients from one of the best suppliers in the area, and it really shows in the food. I started with the yellowtail sashimi, which came with yuzu wasabi and a touch of salt. It was so flavorful I didn't even reach for soy sauce once. The fish was incredibly fresh, and the shaved radish added a nice layer of texture and depth. Next, I ordered a selection of nigiri. Each piece was super fresh and had its own distinct flavor--some topped with soy sauce, some with yuzu wasabi, and others just lightly salted. Everything was nicely balanced, and the rice was at the perfect temperature. None of the nigiri had any fishy smell, and they all just melted in my mouth. Service was excellent, too. The owners were friendly and clearly passionate about what they're building here. They've already started to feel like part of the community, and it shows in the atmosphere. This has definitely become my new favorite sushi spot, and I'm really looking forward to coming back.

Upper Tier Quality Sushi at an Affordable Price. Toro has to be my favorite reasonably priced sushi place in Burbank. Poke is really great and they give you big portions but I tried to Omakase for the first time and it was on par with some of the fancier places at half the price. Really loved the staff and workers, only downside is that the indoor seating can get really cramped so you’re sandwiched between other couples talking and you can eavesdrop on everyone’s conversations when it’s busy. But would 100% recommend to a friend and is definitely my favorite casual poke and sushi joint in the area.

It's easy to say that Toro sushi is one of my favorite sushi places. Definitely up there in the top three. I love the small, quaint atmosphere. There are only a few tables inside the restaurant and a couple outside. The server can't be on the other end of the restaurant and not see you. You can be seen from any corner of the restaurant because it is compact. I enjoy eating there very much for several reasons. First of all, the food is exceptionally good. For the price, I would have to say it's the best sushi I've ever had. There are sushi hand roll starting as low as six dollars! And that's any time of day not just at lunch. Where else can you find a deal like that? Then there are incredibly detailed and delicious higher priced rolls like the caterpillar roll in my photos but I have to say, you're still getting it for about half the price as you would any other sushi place that has a larger footprint and bigger staff. Because they only have the owner, chef and server, they have a very low overhead and they keep their prices very low. However, the service is exceptionally high! I've been there many times, weekdays and weekends, lunch and dinner, holidays and what not, and the employees are always courteous, polite and welcoming. They will bend over backwards for you, making sure that you are happy. The server who waited on us recently was also very kind and accommodating, and her name is Fel. We went there to celebrate an achievement and I kept asking her for more food because I hadn't eaten most of the day and the food was just so darn delicious! So she kept bringing out more plates and bowls of things. Because it's sushi, it's very light and you don't feel heavy or lethargic afterwards. Toro sushi is the perfect sushi place! Especially for a first date or any time. You can take a date there because you're not going to look bad and the service is exceptional. Also it's not loud and disruptive so you can really focus on your date. I like to go there with my wife because we can really just focus on each other and not be constantly mobbed with disruptive behaviors and sounds. A long time customer came in and the server gave her a big hug! She sat at the bar and started ordering food and chitchatting with the server. The place has a very quaint and pleasant atmosphere. It's like those little places that you see on TV or in the movies. I've ordered many different things on the menu, but I especially enjoyed the salmon rolls, tuna rolls, sashimi, and recently I tried the protein bowl. The protein bowl is fantastic because you can get it on a bed of spring lettuce, so it's really having no impact on your carbohydrates. Add a hand roll and you have a very lean and balanced meal. I will close with the fact that they have Purse hooks at the tables! Incredibly thoughtful and allows you to clear your table for all the delicious food that you will be eating! Edit: Oh my gosh! I ordered delivery from Toro and was floored at the quality of the food and the delivery service! I mean, can these guys get any better? The delivery package was for me and a coworker, and we were both amazed by the cleanliness, organization, and the quality of the food. Personally, I got all my protein for the day from just two salmon hand rolls! They were so good, so juicy, and full of fish. I feel like I've gotten healthier since I've started eating at this restaurant. I added some photos of the delivery order.

Waitress helped a woman that had fallen behind us instantly and with no hesitation. She was also extremely attentive to our order and was swift in all aspects ✨ The sushi from the specials menu is decent, nothing to rave about, but the price is solid. The beer is crisp as can be and priced very well given the portions, 1 pint I believe. No frills, good experience, particularly the service is what made it 5 stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The poke bowl was good; however, the protein portion is on the smaller side even though I ordered four proteins. The fish is very good and very fresh. I feel if they increase the amount of protein they put on the plate, it will become an overall much better experience. The service was excellent. We felt we were taken care of. We ate outside and the couple was very pleasant. For two poke bowls and two teas, we paid 44 dollars without a tip. The price is good. Overall I like this place.

Just passed by to update the menu for April 2024. The real value here is the Omakase B Menu, the $6 happy hour rolls and the $5 sushi add ons. Put all that on 1 tab, and 2 -3 people can eat comfortably. Atmosphere... 4 stars. Very dark inside, even 2 hours before sunset. Otherwise, for what you're getting and the price you're paying, I think it's worth it.

I'm originally from Hawaii, born and raised Native Hawaiian mixed race, and I like to try different restaurants that has poke. Because I'm from Hawaii, I also know how to make my own poke too. Also if you from Hawaii, you know you know when it comes to poke. Toro Sushi Poke House restaurant is really super ono! Sho-Oishi! They're very friendly and their customer service is up to par too! I ordered the poke bowl, which you can make your own. I got the 2 proteins, ahi and salmon, then got seaweed, edamame, masago (tiny fish eggs) and tempura flakes. For the sauce it's unagi, cause that's got the flavors. And furikake on the rice. And the poke bowl has the crab scoop included too! The presentation of the poke was the wow factor because it looks delicious too! Its super delicious and the portions are a nice size too. Its really worth the money for this food! I will definitely be back again because that's worth it! Delicious!!!

Absolutely loved this place! The sushi was super fresh, beautifully plated, and tasted amazing — you can really tell they use high-quality shimp . I also tried the ramen and it was rich, flavorful, and comforting without being too salty. The broth, noodles, and toppings were all perfectly balanced. The service was friendly and quick, and the ambiance felt cozy but still modern. For the quality you get, the prices are very fair. Highly recommend this spot if you’re craving good sushi and ramen. I’ll definitely be coming back! 🍣🍜✨

We’ve been patrons of Toro for several years now and have always loved the poke bowls and rolls (our go to’s are the yuzu roll and the alaska roll, big fans!)! The omakase options are great as well if you want to sample the nigiris and handrolls. I always love the blue crab. The fish is fresh and the portions are generous! Wonderful gem and family-run. Albert, Angie, and the rest of their staff are always warm and welcoming every time we stop by. We look forward to stopping by every time :)

It feels like one of those places you are genuinely happy to find. Albert and his family run it with heart, and you can feel that the moment you walk in. The space is cosy and relaxed, perfect for enjoying good food without any rush. The sushi and rolls are always fresh and well prepared, and their main server, "Fel" always serves with a genuine smile every time. This is the kind of neighborhood hole in the wall sushi spot you keep coming back to and recommend without hesitation.

Absolutely love this place! I come often and no matter what I get it's always delicious. I just ordered a three protein poke bowl and the portion was so big, I had to dump it all in a separate mixing bowl just to mix it all up!

This has been my favorite spot for poke for the last 10 years. The best!! I love her owners Albert and Angie. Fel is the best server!!! Carlos is an amazing chef. This place may seem little, but it's truly a hidden gem.

Personal favorite sushi place on the area. Staff are super sweet and the selection of rolls is good. Very easy to become a regular here.

Absolutely love this place! I come often and no matter what I get it's always delicious. I just ordered a three protein poke bowl and the portion was so big, I had to dump it all in a separate mixing bowl just to mix it all up! Staff there is always kind and accommodating, they really try and dig into what I might personally like to help inform my order. This is the only place I'll go for such a good portion, hospitality, and delicious delicious food!!!!

Was surprised and blown away with how good their poke bowls are. First time Ive had sit down restaurant poke before. Got the Shrimp tempura and salmon poke bowl and it was super filling. Good portions for what you pay for. Definitely coming back and worth trying out if you want quality poke in the Burbank area

The poke bowls are really tasty and filling. Tons of different add-ons so customizing your perfect bowl is a breeze. They have happy hour pricing on some of their sushi and rolls. Tons of free parking in the area. The space itself is small but the staff is attentive. We went during the Burbank Art Festival but still managed to get a table right away.

This is a great little find, I stress "little". Solid happy hour menu. Good service, but the place is pretty small and the bathroom is around the corner (that is kinda weird...). Overall it is sweet as and if we are in the area we would go again.

Good source of protein, quick and healthy. Food came quicker than expected and flavors are well pronounced, and predictable.

I managed to eat in this area for over 3 years and not find this place until finding it randomly on google maps. The quality of food is very decent and the service is excellent. Very polite and helpful staff. Poke bowl was really good but it can get a bit pricey if you add stuff. Spicy tuna roll was very good as well. The place is pretty cozy and has cheap Kirin and Sapporo on tap. Half off on a good amount of rolls from 12pm till 10pm. One thing I didn’t like is the three dollar diet coke. Not sure why I focused on that but I thought it should’ve been less for some reason. Four bucks and I coulda gotten a beer. Next time I’ll come back and have water haha or maybe a beer.

Literal hole in the wall type of dining, very dark inside. Needed more wasabi and ginger with my single sushi roll. It was ok. Better than a grocery store but not by much.

The sushi wasn’t the best. I did not get sick or anything, but it wasn’t flavorful but it was pretty dry. Not worth it. The service was fine. We came in at around 12:30. It was not busy. So the sushi should’ve been fresher

I hate to say this, but I couldn’t recommend this restaurant less. I was fine with paying a delivery premium for my order, because it was 8:30 and I was craving a poke bowl, and this spot had good reviews and said it would arrive in 20 minutes max. The exact timeframe was 15-20 minutes. As soon as I ordered, the delivery time jumped to 50 minutes. I called immediately and said I wanted to cancel my order, because I’d rather pick up food somewhere than eat at 10pm, and they said it was an app error and they’d have it to me in under 30 minutes. After 30 minutes passed and the app still showed the restaurant preparing my food, I called again and they said it was out for delivery. When I mentioned the app didn’t show this, they said it would be out for delivery soon. They lied. I called 2 more times before it was finally out for delivery. It arrived at 9:55, over an hour after I ordered and I think I’d be less mad if the food was good…but the fish was bad and smelled off, and everything was warm in all the ways that you don’t want your raw fish to ever taste warm. Avoid this spot at all costs. I later went to check their reviews and this restaurant has a habit of incorrectly estimating delivery times…definitely NEVER order delivery from here.
