Our group of five adults, one child, and one toddler had a wonderful time here. The food is great, the service is very good, and the bar room is very cozy. We enjoyed everything but the toffee pudding was some of the best we’ve ever had!
Cute spot for a drink and a bite to eat. Highly recommend parking at Daylesford Farm Shop and doing the circular route through Bledington, stopping at the Kinds Head for a pint and pit stop.
We were driving through different villages and came across this delightful pub come hotel. The interior matched the outside with its stonework. Everything was as it should be. The bar and fireplace and a mishmash of seating. Our dog was made welcome and enjoyed the fuss made of her. The food was cooked and presented well,by super friendly staff. If we return while in the area I’ll definitely order the braised beef. Very yum!
We had an amazing stay at this lovely hotel/pub. Stayed for 2 nights and went on hikes every day so we could drink and eat afterwards without guilt. The rooms are lovely, very comfy beds and clean bathrooms. Service is outstanding, everyone going out of their way to make your stay special. We loved our dinner and the pub with a good smattering of locals to give tips where to go (and where NOT to go- hint; anything to do with a certain TV personality). Highly recommended.
How a pub should be, great design, classic dishes, friendly staff, lights dimmed and a solid trade on a Wednesday night in October.
It's in a lovely area of the country, and although I didn't stay the night, I did partake in a delicious dinner. The chicory, pear, and blue cheese salad was excellent. I would have had a little more sweetness in the pears, but the sea bream fillet with chorizo for main was a perfect match. Exquisite.
Had our New Year's Eve dinner here and it was delicious (booked in advance). Three course menu didn't disappoint for the adults or for the kids. Halibut was so good! Cute and cozy inside. Left full and happy.
one of my favourite pubs on a beautiful walk! good food, good ales, log fire!! just mind the 12.5% charge added to bill for ANYTHING ordered, which personally i think is disgusting. i think the customer decides how much to tip, didnt notice till after.
Our trip was a return visit to the area where we met and to what was our favourite pub, many years ago. The atmosphere in the bar was so familiar (in the best way possible!) and the warmth of the inglenook fire was boosted by the warm, friendly staff. Excellent food and probably the best Sunday lunch I've had in years. Thank you!
Fantastic choice to dine in with super service t details from time we arrived to time we left. One of us was vegetarian so we were really happy that the menu had a great choice! Food was absolutely delicious and has left some tantalising reviews in our hearts!! Being a chef myself, I always look for fresh flavours and a meaningfully nourished presented plate of food! This is exactly what we got from every meal we had here with a great wine paired and the cherry on cake was the perfect fire place sitting location. We will definitely return here and highly recommend it to everyone
What a gem of place! The rooms above the inn are a 4 star, a bit small for our liking. The restaurant is a 5 star! The pub is great too, mind your head though!
Fantastic dinner and very reasonably priced. We had the salmon and the beef blade and both were great.
Beautiful country pub in a lovely quiet setting. Food was fantastic quality and plentiful... I really enjoyed the blade of beef.
This is a very relaxed Cotswold pub in an idyllic village, north of Oxford. The service was attentive without being intrusive and the food, excellent. I had minute cooked salmon with samphire, tomato and avocado. Delicious. I would definitely recommend. We booked on a Tuesday lunchtime and we had a lovely table overlooking the village green.
We had a delightful stay at The King's Head in the charming village of Bledington. This quaint, sandstone inn was the perfect backdrop for our visit. Our room was quirky and comfortable, with a huge bathroom. Dinner was excellent—the beef burger and arancini were highlights. Breakfast didn't disappoint either, with a full English and more gourmet options available. The staff were wonderful, making our stay truly enjoyable.
l can't actually find anything to criticize about this really lovely place. You feel like a local within minutes of walking in and the staff are genuinely lovely. I didn't eat, but the food looked amazing and massive. Because it is also a hotel l had a few conversations with a couple of the guests, one of which left her computer unattended on the next table for over an hour, clearly confident enough of the surroundings not to worry about any theft in the area. If you want a quiet pub meal l would ask to go in the dining room, but if you want an all encompassing local hug, l would sit by the bar and go back in time to what a real pub used to be.❤️
It was the meal we went for. It was absolutely fabulous I've never had one so great for a long time.
A jewel in the Cotswolds and now our absolute favourite. This whole place is a glorious haven of tranquillity in what can be a frantically touristic area and the inn itself is real, genuine, quintessentially English and seemingly determined (thankfully) to shun the Disney-like commercialism of too much of this wonderful region. Tucked away in a quietly picturesque village the Kings Head is pure olde worlde charm but the bedrooms are modern and clean with an extremely comfortable bed and a super-powerful shower. The staff were all friendly, professional and efficient to the highest modern-day standards. The food was excellent (we had dinner) and the multiple seating areas, including a number of outside tables in several different garden areas, made it feel intimate and special irrespective of how full the place was. Finally, as well as a beautiful village and church to wander around there is good open-country distance walking from the doorstep. In summary we simply cannot wait to find a good reason to get back here again and stay for longer.
We had a lovely lunch there, food was great and reasonably priced, highly recommend it!
Good food and comfy beds The rooms are a bit quirky and a challenge for anyone over 6ft tall Mind your head
Stumbled across this amazing pub/restaurant while in the Cotswolds. An amazing place to enjoy top quality food and drinks. Staff all very friendly and welcoming, the locals too. A place to return to for sure. Thank you so much.
Had a lovely lunch here after our wedding, staff were so friendly, food was delicious and the setting was gorgeous! 10/10 for everything!
Lovely pub in a beautiful village. Great beer selection, excellent food and friendly and efficient staff.
The staff are incredibly accommodating and kind (with a special shout-out to Louise!). We absolutely loved our stay. The room was clean and bed very conformable. A visit to the bar/restaurant is a must. We will most certainly be back!
Fantastic countryside pub. Food was amazing and definitely not your normal pub grub, it was soo much better than that. Great service and the pub interior is one of a traditional county pub and has a clam and cozy atmosphere.
We had a lovely Sunday lunch for 5 of us in the restaurant. Food was fantastic. I had the vegetarian nut roast option which was brilliant and not to forget the cauliflower cheese…..
Lovely pub located in classic Cotswolds village … excellent lunch and super beer garden area … lunch only on this occasion but have stayed here a few times in the past 20 years under previous management lol
Warm, friendly atmosphere. Food was absolutely amazing!!
Wonderful place to come! Food is great, service excellent, good selection of beers and wines (local). Log fires too! What more could you ask for!
We had such a fantastic experience at The King’s Head Inn that we ended up dining there two nights in a row! The food was absolutely delicious – especially the steak, which was cooked to perfection and full of flavour. The bar is wonderfully cosy and the restaurant has a quaint, welcoming charm that made us feel right at home. All the staff and servers were so friendly and attentive, creating a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere throughout. A perfect spot for a memorable Cotswolds evening – would highly recommend!
Food and service was fantastic - very accommodating for a party of 20. Roast dinners on a Sunday were fantastic and the sticky toffee pudding was to die for
Situated on the village green approx 2.5 miles from Stow in the Wold. Would recommend for a nights stay if you want a bit of seclusion. Atmosphere is great and bar staff wonderful.
Lovely pub. Had a lovely dinner, food was delicious and the staff were super friendly and welcoming. A well worth while visit, highly recommended.
Stopped here for Sunday lunch with friends. Superb food! Excellent quality and quantity and good value. Staff friendly and fast service. One of the best Sunday lunches I’ve had. Highly recommend!
Looking for the perfect place to unwind? Look no further! This location offers not just mouthwatering food but an incredible ambiance too. Pro tip: Arrive before sunset to enjoy drinks outside on a gorgeous day. There's plenty of parking nearby, so no need to worry about your car! Inside, you'll find a warm and cozy atmosphere. Plus, it's pet-friendly! Bring your furry friend along, and they'll have a blast too. Highly recommend visiting soon, you won't be disappointed!
Really excellent pub with very comfortable room. Staff were tip top and looked after us really well Delicious supper menu
All in all a fantastic weekend, Room so clean and comfortable- Could not fault a single thing, The food was amazing quality and well presented and the staff were so attentive and nothing was too much for them, Whether that be front of house staff, wait staff or chefs all fantastic and the hotel itself was do beautiful and quaint, we loved all of the authentic features, low ceilings and decor, We will definitely be back!
Really lovely country pub with rooms. Makes for a very nice night stay. The pub has a great rural feel, and the food was excellent quality. The staff were also superb, attentive and friendly but not fussy. We felt really welcome from start to finish. Room was comfortable, cosy and clean. We highly recommend if you are looking for a quiet cotswolds night or two away in an idyllic setting.
This is a proper pub, in the best sense of the word. If you’re nearby and fancy a break from the Daylesford effect, this is the place to come. The food is excellent. The Sunday roast is a standout, and the sticky toffee pudding is well worth saving room for. It’s cosy, relaxed and genuinely welcoming, with lovely staff who make you feel at home from the moment you walk in. Unfussy, warm and doing all the right things. Exactly what a local pub should be.
The food and service were exceptional. Staff are friendly and make you feel welcome. My dog was treated and given lots of attention. Always wanted to stop and now it’s on our list of favourite pubs in the area in the Cotswolds.
Girlfriend and I popped in here for lunch after a walk up to Kingham and back with the dog. The food was outstanding, some of the best I've ever had in a pub. We didn't go for "traditional" pub options - we just wanted to have a few small plates to share instead of a main each. The burrata + squash and the chicory + pear blue cheese salad were both stunning. To top it all off, the service was very friendly and we got to sit near their open fireplace. Will definitely go back if I'm visiting the area again.
A lovely cosy pub with a fantastic inglenook fireplace and roaring fire. We stopped here for food initially but arrived after 2 when they'd stopped serving. We stayed for a drink, sat by the cosy fire which was very nice on a bleak winters day.
Had lunch here last Tuesday 30th September. We were lucky and the sun was out so we sat in their beautiful sunny garden. The staff were very attentive, professional and friendly. Lots to choose from on the menu, we opted to share a number of starters. Delicious Prawn Cocktail (with the best tasting sourdough bread) and Beef Carpaccio, which was awesome, followed by Devilled Kidney's and Coronation Chicken open sandwich - couldn't fault a thing, very flavoursome and good portion sizes. We will be back!
Great food and ambience in a historic pub. My blue cheese/fig/chicory salad was 10/10 and my husband loved his venison as well. Make a reservation ahead of time.
Went here for dinner only so cannot comment on rooms, I would say though that seeing how busy it was at reception area and lounge area it is very popular. We were staying in Shipton under Wychwood so to get here was around a 20 minute drive, having seen some of the reviews was not sure what to expect. On entering we were greeted with a very warm welcome and a smile, taken to our reserved table and given menus. Not the biggest selection but very varied, couple of chicken dishes couple of meat dishes and a good selection of pasta and veggie options, something for everyone. I had the Steak and Mushroom pie which was absolutely fantastic, it came with mashed potatoes and seasonal veg, which were cooked to perfection still had a bit of bite to them also a nice jug of gravy. My wife had fish and chips, which to be honest was tasty and not greasy, but nothing outstanding. My friends had Lamb Rump which looked beautiful and was cooked to perfection, his wife had the sea bream which was not the biggest piece of fish I had seen but she said it was nice. Good drinks menu not many local ales or real ales which I thought there would have been a few more if, good selection of Zero Alcohol beers etc for drivers nice to see that now being offered more and more. Prices were not the cheapest but it is in the Cotswolds so expect to pay a bit more, the pie was good value at £19 and was a good size. The Sea Bream priced at £23 was a tad overpriced for portion size, there was only the 1 fillet which was not very filling. The desert's which by the way no one had were all £9 each, it was the dearest we had come across during our stay. So cannot comment on quality versus price comparison, all in all a good meal with an automatic 12.5% service charge put on top, still not sure about compulsory charge for this? Good all round meal and service, worth a visit.
Nice lunchtime snack and pint. Friendly staff. Quiet and able to chat.
I was expecting a 4 star experience at the cost but was disappointed with the bedroom, very basic furniture and very limited supply of tea/coffee with only one biscuit to share between 2! The bar choice was good and the ambience was pleasant if a bit disjointed which could be put down to the quirky layout of the building but the dining room is very sterile. The staff were very polite and helpful if a bit confused where to sit us. The restaurant food was well prepared and presented but staff tried to cover-up when the wrong dish was served.
Beautiful pub, Tasty food but very let down by the locals. Came for a lovely dinner with my partner whilst on a holiday in the Cotswolds, and a very drunk local kept coming up to us and making insulting comments whilst we were trying to eat our dinner and keeping to ourselves. We did ask him to leave us alone, Staff saw and heard what was going on but did not help. Locals seem very judgemental about people who are coming to visit the beautiful countryside and surrounding areas. Such a shame as the location and the food were both amazing but won't be coming back due to drunk and rude locals. Very disappointed.
At front there should be a signs warning those clients with cars to be wary of the low wood stumps hidden in bushes. They border the front shrub bed in either side of main door.
Up until 9.48 this morning this would have been a 5 star review until we went for breakfast and were told we couldn’t have it, as we were 4 minutes late and kitchens closed. We were never informed of the early close. We were then told that they had a busy day ahead of them. After spending over £300 on the room and dinner this was not what we felt offered good customer service, shocking. We walked out and are now sitting in a lovely cafe called Cotswold Barn with a friendly welcome.
