One of the best, most delicious meals we had over the festive season. Incredible service from very jolly staff and the food was exceptional. Also found it great value compared to other French-inspired restaurants in Oxford.
Thank you Emily C for being so accommodating to our belated request. Above and beyond what was needed. The food, atmosphere and value for money were great, as were the staff. Recommend 5*
Lovely lunch anda surprise find for us out of towners. Jules made us very welcome and even the simplest dishes were outstandingly delicious.
Brasserie Blanc in Oxford offers a delightful blend of British and French classics in a warm, inviting setting just off Jericho. The food is consistently excellent—beautifully presented, flavourful, and made with quality ingredients—while the service is charming and attentive without being overbearing. Relaxed family lunch, it's a reliably lovely spot.
Visited at very busy new year eve , was very impressed. Food was beautifully presented and all delicious. We each had 3 courses and were not disappointed at all. Service was warm and efficient. Love the fact the gentleman who took our orders remember exactly who ordered what. Will definitely be back.
A great modern British restaurant in the centre of Jericho. Their food is amazing. Very friendly service. Decoration is modern and relaxing. Dishes are a bit expensive, but you do feel money well spent. Great for special dining out occasions.
Marvelously efficient and professional service. The server was able to tell we'd be sharing without us having to say a thing -- a fairly impressive feat that speaks to her years of experience. The escargots we got were wonderfully soft and tender and paired well with the provided baguette, while the ribeye was spiced just right. The presentation was beautiful and the atmosphere felt homely yet upscale. It's great both for formal dinners and just going out with your family. I do recommend making a reservation beforehand, as we just managed to snag the last table as walk-ins.
We had the duck legs and the sea bream, and both dishes were beautifully prepared—flavourful, well-seasoned, and cooked to perfection. The presentation was elegant without being overdone. The service was also excellent—friendly, attentive, and professional throughout the meal. A thoroughly enjoyable dining experience. Highly recommended.
Nice setting- they’ve re decorated so lovely ambience. Great menu options- delicious food. Would recommend! (Only criticism was that the champagne by the glass served is not great!)
Delicious French cuisine in a nice ambience. We had a lovely meal. Thank you.
We went to this restaurant over the Easter bank holiday and it didn't disappoint. I would recommend sitting through the back of the restaurant where it's a larger area of seating and has a bit more ambience. The food was very good quality and cooked to perfection. The flavours were lovely, presentation good also. The waitress's and waiters were attentive and very polite. We had a very lovely experience. The first dish is lamb the second dish is sirloin steak. We had a great soufflé to start with a crumb outer layer and was just as it should be, light and fluffy and full of cheese sauce.
Had a great meal here. Service was exceptional with us being seen to quickly and given a choice of great tables to sit at. The wait staff were knowledgable and gave recommendations from the menu when asked and they also dealt very well with offering gluten free options and checking for another member of our group with an onion allergy to put them both at ease. Food was fantastic with generous portion leaving us all very satisfied and wanting to return again soon.
Heard so much about this Oxford institution and was not disappointed. The Mediterranean Soup was dense, full of fishy goodness in a good way. I tried the Cheese Soufflé of my dinner partner and I got to admit, I might have preferred that to my soup. Soups are everywhere but that soufflé is hard to find. For my mains I had the Pan Fried Sea Bream. Crispy on the outside but juicy in the inside. The bouillabaisse sauce and sauteed squid complimented the fish really well. Enjoyed this.
We went for a late lunch and had a wonderful meal. The menu is well thought, there were very good choices. We both had hake grenobloise which was very tasty. Service was exceptional and we both enjoyed ourselves thoroughly.
Absolutely fantastic - one of the best places in Oxford for a delicious French cuisine. I was suggested Brasserie Blanc by one of our neighbours in Oxford who told that it's their favorite place. After deciding to dine in here, my wife and I finally came here for lunch. The starter + main course menu is £ 20, and the food is really excellent. The ambience is also amazing and the staff are extremely friendly. Although the price is a bit on the expensive side, but the incredible food and service justify the price. Two items I would definitely recommend here are 1. Mediterranean Fish soup, and 2. Duck leg. Both of them are absolutely fantastic !!! ❤️
Visited the restaurant yesterday for my birthday dinner on recommendation of my wife and it did make my day end on a high note. The staff were very efficient and attentive, the food was excellent and the vibe of the restaurant was great. The starter was in fact one of the best I've had in a long time. The lamb tagine was well done and was spiced to perfection. The entire experience was great and the food could have come out a bit earlier but it's not a big downfall for this restaurant. Recommend to anyone coming to Oxford.
Brasserie Blanc will not let you down! Came for a spontaneous date night and found ourselves quickly accommodated at a table for two. The food is brilliant and we found ourselves so full we were unable to order dessert. The service was excellent and the atmosphere was just right. It’s a little pricey, but the quality of the evening made it well worth it!
Visited for dinner as part of group for a work dinner. Friendly staff although the manager or supervisor was a little abrupt at times but rest of staff were great. Food was fantastic along with the drinks and cocktails would have given them 5 stars but they got a couple of the drinks wrong on a couple of occasions, this was corrected but could have been avoided with a little less haste when taking the orders from the table. Nice decor and will visit again
Celebrated my birthday here with my partner and we had the best experience! Food was amazing and the service was great. We miss Oxford and living in Jericho!
Absolutely gorgeous food and wonderful staff. Very friendly. Great atmosphere, lovely brasserie. Would definitely recommend.
Wonderful hospitality matched with amazing dishes. Visiting Oxford for a couple of days and decided to try here. On a rainy Friday evening we had a lovely spot for two sitting by the window watching the world go by. After sharing a simple starter of baguette with dips (far removed from your standard dips) I opted for the pheasant main and the OH had steak. Beautiful flavours and presentation. But save room for desserts! Blackcurrant pavlova (with chefs own marshmallows-a delight!) And pear and apple crumble, again the flavours were just the best! Along with such friendly staff, this made for a really enjoyable dining experience.
If you want to really “go out” this is it. We dine out frequently. We are always on the lookout for excellent food. We have been traveling for three weeks and this is our best restaurant by far! Atmosphere, service and The Food. B B. Checked all the boxes. The pistachio soufflé with chocolate ice cream was the bomb 👏👏👏
The new menu is really appealing and on the both occasions I went, everything was a delight. Today my friend felt unwell and our waiter went above and beyond to accommodate her, offering tea, sugar and coffee to raise her blood pressure, and even ran to the taxi as I had forgotten my scarf in the rush. I did not get his name but it was Wednesday 17th December at 12 and I would like to thank him for his kindness and utter professionalism.
Had an absolute lovely meal. Staff were friendly upon arrival, very attentive but not in your face. The food was delicious. Have only been 2 in 2 years as dont come to Oxford much but would definitely recommend and come back.
Food was absolutely amazing, the trout main course was delicious, the souffle starter lovely and the tartes pommes amazing. Service was fantastic and the ambience and staff were lovely. We will definitely return.
I’ve been enjoying dinners at the Brasserie Blanc for years! Food is great, atmosphere is convivial, relaxed. Service is excellent, attentive, professional, and friendly (something I really value). Thanks for yet another great evening.
Great value for money, high quality food. Plenty of seating at the back of the restaurant. We chose the lunch set menu and the mashed potatoes and roast chicken were devine. 100% recommend
The general manger of the restaurant Emily has been very welcoming, considerate and adaptive. Her professionalism in communication and open-mindedness towards accommodating students' needs are very much appreciated. I highly recommend this restaurant to all students or actually everyone to dine in the restaurant.
Visited for Sunday lunch with my family to celebrate my wife's birthday. Drinks service was a little slow, but everything else was flawless. Food was fabulous, and we'll definitely be back
A cute little restaurant in the heart of Jericho. The food was some of the best I’ve had in Oxford—worth a visit! The “truite poêlée” was remarkably flavorful. The “chocolat praliné feuilletine” with a coffee afterwards tied it all together. 5-stars!
Went for a Christmas dinner with my friends last night and had such an amazing time. Jules the host was so sweet and welcoming. Our server was equally incredible (sorry I forgot his name, but I think he’s French) he was so patient with us. The food was great, thank you for the great night. Will definitely comes back again.
really nice three course meal had here.. staff where very welcoming.. Nice decor.. reasnadable prices.. has disabled access too.. Would recommend
Excellent food, good value. Very noisy when I was there, Monday lunch, a star off. Service attentive.
Host was very nice to accommodate all of us. Loved the atmosphere. Food was very good and nicely presented. Taking a star because dinner took forever. Recomend the chicken liver parfait!
Very friendly and helpful staff. Nice wine list. The starters (escargot and grilled squid) were great. The pork belly main was amazing. However, the sirloin steak, which was rather expensive, was cooked unevenly and some parts are well done whereas some parts are medium rare when we ordered medium. The lighting was a little too bright in my opinion. We wanted to order the Chile Pinot Noir but it was not available. We decided to choose the Beaujolais Villages from Burgundy. It was a very nice and smooth wine with well-balanced tannins.
The food was pretty decent but not something special! The meat was lacking flavour and a bit dry ngl. We had the three course Christmas menu! Quick service and polite staff! Not happy with the dessert but a minor compared to the rest! Good variety of wine!
We received a warm welcome and were shown to our table promptly. Service was quick, and all staff were very nice. Was slightly loud, and sometimes we had trouble hearing each other, but the overall atmosphere was pleasant. The food overall was very good. We both had the scallop starter, which was the highlight of our meal. It was delicious, and we would highly recommend it.
I'd won a gift voucher and not been before, the food was really good but I do think a little overpriced for what it was. Incredibly awkward place to get to if you're driving, but the wait staff were really lovely. Wine selection was great too. My duck leg was super tasty and although I've had better in the Alps, the tartiflette was still good.
We booked for our wedding anniversary and had been really looking forward to it. The starters were delicious, Mediterranean mezee and chicken liver parfait. Unfortunately my husband's choice of duck was off the menu, and was substituted by lamb tagine with couscous - it was disappointing as it was swimming in a puddle of oil and he was unable to eat much of it. My salmon with fries and salad was perfect, and so was the dessert of pistachio souffle.
Ok, I only gave it 3 stars but I liked it and would go again. This is the funny part. We were celebrating my sister’s birthday and they handed her a glass of Prosecco that we hadn’t ordered. We assumed it was complimentary until they charged us for it when presenting the bill. Food was good. Service was extremely slow. Don’t go if you’re not prepared to wait a long time for your food.
We came for my daughter's birthday on Christmas Eve. Expecting it to be busy we came for lunch rather than dinner, but still found around five dishes from the menu to be sold out. Disappointing if these were your first choices. We were sat near the kitchen which was quite noisy, especially as there were other tables available. I think the waiter forget about us as bread and olives took an age to arrive. Also one of our side dishes came much later than the rest leaving my husband waiting to start eating. Portion sizes were ok, but the rabbit leg was very small. The food was very tasty and the presentation was very good. I would prefer to leave a tip of my choosing, as service charge added to the menu was not in line with the service I thought we received, but I feel uncomfortable asking for it be removed. Also in line with new new post COVID trend they are card only, sometimes I would like to spend my cash.....
The staff were really nice. However. The restaurant was so loud my head was ringing. We could barely hear ourselves talk for most of the evening. I don't know if it was acoustics or two particularly loud tables or what, but it was bad. The food was fine. I was expecting slightly better. The bread and dips were great. The cheese souffle was a bit bland, the chicken was very nice, the dessert was overcooked. I had a hot chocolate that somehow tasted of fish. Probably won't go back.
Maybe twixmas is not a good time to visit. The soupe a l'oignon had a flavoursome base but hardly any cheese on top. The moules mariniere were cooked in a thin tasteless liquid, but the isles flottantes were very good. It's almost like things prepared in advance had a proper chef, but the chef on the day had no clue.
We booked a table for 8:00 p.m., arrived on time, sat down… and were then informed that most of the menu no longer existed. No Chateaubriand (the main reason we booked). No beef at all. No burgers. No fish. At that point, the menu felt more like a historical document than an actual list of options. The staff were genuinely nice and apologetic — which we appreciated — but for a restaurant operating at this level and price range, running out of entire categories of food before prime dinner time is simply a no-go. We ended up leaving and trying to find another restaurant late in the evening, which is about as fun as it sounds. Edit: Since posting this review, the management team reached out and handled the follow-up with care and professionalism. Although the original experience still stands, I appreciate the effort made afterwards.
A really disappointing experience. In a city of fantastic restaurants, I can think of no good reason why you should go here. Firstly the food. As a huge admirer of Monsieur Blanc, I'm surprised he's not hotter on this. I appreciate it's his affordable chain, but it was nothing above 'fine'. A little bland. A little dull. The cassoulet wasn't as good as I can make at home. The creme brulé custard was overdone. Cafe Rouge level stuff, really not Blanc level. The bread was nice, mind you. The rest of the experience wasn't great. We were served by three different people, which does not give good continuity. Staff seemed to be running around a lot, very disorganised. They took ages to scroll and find dishes on their little tablets. But the worst thing was how LOUD it was. Unbelievably loud. There were two tables of birthday parties in who were drunkenly shouting and singing - staff did ask them to be quieter, but didn't actually do anything to insist on it. We saw several tables complaining about it and one couple asked to move. Then the staff actually joined in with raucous rounds of Happy Birthday like some kids party. Come on, folks. This is not TGI Fridays. Although given the general quality of the food, maybe it is? We all left with headaches and won't be back.
There was a nice atmosphere, some (keyword) good food options, and ok service. I was honestly quite disappointed with this restaurant overall, from the mediocre salad and steak to the lackluster steak. The best part about this establishment was the owner, with whom I had a delightful conversation after my meal, and the delicious soufflé. As previously mentioned, the quality of the food varies greatly. The steak frites were alright, nothing special; the “frites” were a little soggy as well. The salad was pretty good; I liked the addition of salty fat; it works very well with the rest of the salad. The soufflé was the best part about the experience by far; the crust was perfectly soft yet crunchy, and the inside was beautifully airy and filling. Delicious French dessert. The waitress seemed colder than I would have expected given the price. The salad arrived less than 5 minutes before the main course, which in my opinion is far too late. The ambiance seamlessly blends elements of a French brasserie and an English tea house. For that I give enormous props. Overall, I cannot recommend this restaurant for the price. If you do end up eating here, do not get the steak.
The food was mediocre, the beetroot starter was just beetroot chopped up and put into a terrine dish surrounded by different coloured beetroot, little outside a very small quenelle of horseradish sorbet to alleviate the endless beetroot! Rabbit was okay, the food over all was disappointing. Sadly the staff seemed completely uninterested, hence slow service despite the restaurant being reasonably quiet. Wouldn't go back there's better out there!
I normally do all the cooking Christmas Day but for once me and my husband and a couple of friends decided to go out for Christmas dinner at Brasserie Blanc in Jericho. Where do I start well .... We were shown to our table and after waiting for a while we had to ask for our complementary drink. The first two starters were good. However it was all down hill from there. The main Christmas meal was poor at best we were given one roast potato and the rest of the vegetables were unidentivable the turkey was tasteless and all the food was cold. The Christmas pudding was factory made and served undercooked these were sent back. ( we did receive a drink as a good will gesture). The final offering was shop brought mince pies that were bunged on the table on the same plate with no cream. We felt that we were being rushed into leaving. The whole experience was very disappointing and from this experience I would not return. Mark Cordell
The food was overpriced with the quality served. Pork belly, in particular, was disappointing as it was rather chewy and lacked the tenderness. I didn’t feel welcomed when talking to the staff and they made me felt uneasy.
The Bloody Mary tastes like someone used ketchup instead of Tabasco, the potatoes and other vegetables are undercooked, almost raw. Only the fish tastes good.
