The Yew Tree - Frieth

I booked a table in advance for the festive menu. I ate with my adult son. Three courses £38 each, plus coffee and a mince pie. The service is excellent. The food was really good. We had a wonderful stay here. The suites are lovely and fantastic value for money, very clean and spacious. On the morning we left we had breakfast and the owner lit a beautiful open fire for us to eat by. Breakfast was incredible and again very good value for money. Service was brilliant, friendly and welcoming, couldn’t do enough for us. Would highly recommend!

We had a wonderful time celebrating my daughter's birthday yesterday! The food was delicious, the staff were excellent, especially Sam, and the atmosphere is so inviting. As my daughter and family have just moved to Frieth, I *think* we will be very regular visitors!

We booked The Yew Tree to celebrate our anniversary as we were away caravanning a few miles away at Cholsey Grange CL. What a lovely venue despite being a very wet Sunday lunchtime. The venue was virtually full with a great atmosphere, plenty of staff on hand so waiting times were not a problem. Staff were very pleasant and polite. We shared the Sunday Roast platter which did not disappoint nor did the delicious puddings which came served on a Happy Anniversary plate, which was a lovely touch. We can not speak highly enough about The Yew Tree and would visit again if in the area.

Just flew in to London and was heading north to Manchester, I was craving a steak and ale pie, but wanted to get one in a small village pub. This place was perfect and the pie was one of the best I’ve ever had!!! 1000% recommend!!! Husband had the fish and chips, which were equally delicious!!!

Due to a family visit in the area, we stayed a few nights at The Yew Tree, and I can absolutely recommend it. Beautiful, authentic rooms with an amazing bed. Excellent breakfast and incredibly friendly staff. Greetings from Holland!

Stopped for dinner as there was an accident on the m40 and so glad we did. Menu and cookery was exceptional.

What a hidden gem this pub is! Recently visited for the first time and my husband can be a little bit of a food snob but hailed their Squid entree one of the best starters he’s ever had. The food was fantastic- we were stuffed after mains but still had to have dessert as the puddings looked so good (and they were!). The staff were wonderful and went out of their way to accommodate our two large, boisterous dogs and gave us a table where they could lie down and had space to settle. Some of the best food you’ll find in Bucks/Oxford- will fast become a new favourite spot.

Lovely pub, delicious food and great service. Visited in a party of six early on a Saturday late afternoon/early evening. All our meals were freshly cooked with quality ingredients. Service was good and there was a nice atmosphere. Would definitely recommend.

A very good Sunday lunch. My wife had the roast beef and I had the pork. We both had starters and a large glass of wine so £92 including a tip was very good value.

Food made with love, service delivered with care - this place is so great. Yesterday I had the best desert I have ever eaten and it was vegan! Happy with there being one vegan option per course so long as the option is tasty (they can make other options vegan I should say) - often vegan options seem an after thought but not here. I cant remember the name of our waiter but they were all great. Thank you for a wonderful experience.

I had my wedding reception at The Yew Tree. Joy couldn't have been more accommodating through the planning and on the day. The food and service were fantastic. Highly recommended

What a wonderful lunch we all had! The staff was really friendly and professional. Our meals were absolutely delicious. Our choice of main meals were 2 x lamb, pork and steak. Everything was perfect. The only thing I would change was a calamari (as part of the starter mixed with whitebaits ) so it doesn't look and taste like onion rings. Apart from that everything was tip top. I really recomend this place.

We can always rely on the Yew Tree for a fabulous roast. Delicious xx

Excellent pub lunch! Food was delicious and the portion sizes were very generous. It was a little empty when we first arrived and so there wasn't much atmosphere, but it picked up towards the end of our meal and was a bit more bubbly. Service was very attentive and friendly. Would definitely visit again if I find myself in the area.

First time at the Yew Tree and it was excellent all round! Service friendly, attentive and efficient, plus the food was absolutely delicious! We had the Brie and fig tart, joules mariniere and pork, with chocolate orange bread and butter pudding for dessert. Everything tasted fantastic and portion sizes were perfect. We will definitely be back!

We had a fantastic Sunday lunch time roast today!!! Because we couldn’t decide which one to get, we opted for the triple roast sharing platter and it really didn’t disappoint. Well cooked, flavoursome and plenty to share. We would definitely recommend and we can’t wait to go back

Lovely meal with friends. All of us very much enjoyed the food and drinks, good selection of beers on tap too. Duck was absolutely lovely. We will be back!

Excellent roast lamb! We ordered the special - roasted leg of lamb and it was delicious. After doing a long walk in the Chiltern Hills this was a lovely place to refuel. Food was great, the gravy was yummy - portions were HUGE. Service also fantastic.

Absolutely fantastic food and good value. Main course (The chicken) was moist and delicious. If anything, an over-large portion meant not enough space for us both to have a sweet!

Absolutely outstanding place. If you pass this place on you’re walk, then definitely pop in. Staff are so friendly and the food is out of this world. We go to the yew tree every Friday and I’ve tried something off the menu every time and I’ve not been disappointed at all. So much flavour. What’s a extra bonus is they allow dogs in. Highly recommend this place.

A delicious lunch in a buzzy pub. We keep coming back!

Four and a dog for Sunday dinner in front of open fire in the bar. What could be better after a walk? Well the answer was initially the service then the food. We were looked after by so many people and everyone was cheery and just getting the job done with a great attitude. The roasts were great with giant Yorkshire pud. Best place I've been in quite a while.

Very good 1st experience at The Yew Tree. To put them to the test, we ordered two classics "fish & chips" and the "Exmoor beef burger" Both very well presented and executed. All the ingredients in the hamburger were enhancing each other, and the meet was moist and flavoursome. Delicious. We will certainly come back for a real dinner. The service was attentive too.

What a lovely, welcoming pub with friendly staff. Booked a table last minute for a family of 9 including 3 children which they accommodated. Food was delicious and service exceptional. One little one was unfortunately sick all over the floor and the staff were more than happy to help clean and ensure everyone was happy during their meal. Thank you so much- and sorry again! gorgeous food, great service, lovely and peaceful location I have done many of trips to different pubs on the Sunday roast hunt...and this is my absolute favourite find so far! I recommended a friend and that always makes me nervous if they disagree lol but they too loved it and thanked me for sending them the Yew Trees way 🙂

We’ve just celebrated my mum’s 90th Birthday here & it was exceptional. Beautiful setting with elegant, tasteful decor. Spotlessly clean, gleaming in fact. They opened up specially for our private party & we were able to dine safely within our own family bubbles. The cuisine was amazing & beautifully presented & they easily managed to cater for all our challenging dietary requests, not to mention the great service! Happy family here, so thank you Yew Tree & staff for making it so special

I recently held the wake for my father at The Yew Tree following his funeral service and the manager and staff could not have been more helpful throughout. The buffet food was excellent, with different canapés coming out freshly cooked or prepared in stages, and guests were greeted with a drink on arrival. They even helped arrange our funeral flowers around a framed picture of my dad. It was a really difficult time and they took great care of us and our guests, we didn't have to worry about a thing. Furthermore, the prices were very reasonable too given the high standard of food, drink and service. An excellent establishment, with pleasant surroundings, and really well run with helpful staff doing their best to accommodate me as a sometimes difficult customer. In other words: a class act all round. Thanks to all at The Yew Tree for organising such an outstanding occasion, I wish you continued and well deserved success in 2024.

Have been twice in recent months. I wish this pub was my local. It’s so good we’re happy to travel the hour it takes to get here to eat, drink and walk in gorgeous countryside. A shining example of how to run a hospitality business: they make you feel welcome as soon as you walk in. Inspired menu (not just pub classics) so it feels like a treat and I think it’s outstanding value for the quality offered.

We had a fantastic lunch at the Yew Tree to celebrate my husband's 40th birthday. The food was superb and the service absolutely excellent. I really appreciated that they went to the effort of a birthday plate with ice-cream and candle without being asked to do so. We ate outside on their lovely terrace, although they could do with some newer tables and chairs as they weren't the most comfortable. We will definitely be returning.

Staff are friendly and welcoming. Some vegan and plant based items on the menu. 😁. Dogs welcome. Have been on several occasions and always left happy.

Group of friends Sunday lunch. Good offering of drinks and ales. Most all had the Sunday lunch offering. The beef was very good. With a good mix of veg. Gravy was good but just had to ask for more. Over all a good meal, and not rushed.

Lovely pub, good food and great atmosphere. It was very busy when we arrived around 2pm on a Sunday. We have a small snack of chips and drinks. The chips were a good kids size portion. Good place to stop for food or book a Sunday lunch.

Unfortunately was exceptionally disappointed with the food. My roast pork was dry as you like, another roast beef the meat was OK but vegetables were rock hard. The chicken skewers were cold and had to be sent back to be heated up. Was a birthday treat so we sent food back to be heated up but couldn't complain as heavily as I'd like. The waitress and waiter were great and so was the beer, hence why not the 1 star.
