The loveliest little courtyard behind the bar. The staff member who served us, Lucio, was knowledgeable, friendly and charming. I recommend the place simply for the level of service he offered. Merci Lucio.

Stopped by for a mezcal tasting after a day on the beach. They offer 3 or 6 pours. I did the 6, my gf did the 3. The gentleman who worked their explained the mezcals in great detail. Bought a bottle to take home, came with a shirt.

Fantastic mezcal bar in a chic location. Dani was exceptionally knowledgeable about the different types on offer having been involved in the production. If you want to get a better understanding of this drink, this is the place.

Great spot for artisanal mezcal - while pricey for sure for the area, some great options, cute and tasty side bites and friendly staff that takes their time to explain and get you in the mood. Shop next door is also super cute

Immaculate vibes here. Happened upon it while walking to the main drag from our accommodation at Alquimista. Passed by a few times and were intrigued enough to stop by for a drink on our last night. Drinks were fantastic! The pool patio area is a gorgeous, low key, and quiet (at least the night we went), hang out spot. The vibe was hip and kind of felt like an "in the know" spot. While it might be out of the way if you are staying somewhere more central, it's definitely worth the short walk.

Gota Gorda was our favourite bar we discovered during our time in Zipolite. Angel is an incredible bartender and so friendly, we came back multiple nights just to chat with him and enjoy the incredible mezcal. Easily the best cocktail bar in Zipolite. A little off the beaten path but worth the detour. The place itself is such a vibe and the cocktails were fantastic. The staff is also incredibly kind and knowledgeable about the art of mezcal. The highlight for me was the mezcal Negroni.

I’ve heard a few people say that this is one of the best Mezcalerias in Oaxaca, if not Mexico (therefore the world). You’ve gotta give props to those that do things well and this place does. Angel and Lucio are both awesome bartenders with so much knowledge and look after their guests so warmly. My girlfriend and I spent every night of our time in Zipolite at this bar prior to dinner and each time we experienced something new and different. If you want a pure Mezcal experience in a cool and authentic environment make sure you come here. I have no doubt I’ll be back again.

I fell in love with this place and visited twice. I’m from Vancouver, which has some of the worst mezcal on earth. Whenever I travel, I’m eager to discover local mezcal. My spanish is limited, and thankfully the bartender Angel spoke english and was able to walk me through the mezcal that this place produces. They have dozens of diverse varieties. You can get flights of 6 for 500 pesos. My only complaint is that not all of the mezcal was available for purchase! I wanted to buy so much more, but they were out of most bottles. The bottle I did buy was very pricey- about $115 CAD for 500mL. Definitely hit this place up when you visit. It has such a great vibe, and I love that it is owned by a fellow Canadian 🇨🇦

Gota Gorda is a great spot to stop for a cocktail or a mezcal tasting (degustación) They have a wide selection of mezcal sourced from all over Oaxaca. This welcoming and beautiful spot was a great place to learn more about mezcal and taste a variety of agaves, distillation techniques, and other variations of mezcal. Definitely worth a visit if you’re nearby Additional information: We were here in early October 2022, there had been a hurricane through here earlier this year and the roads are a bit washed out, we were able to drive in and park without issue, but be aware of this when driving in. Walking from the main road is perfectly fine and easy.

Beyond the drinks they offer, the place is cute and with good service. Lucio and Alejandro were excellent hosts that know their stuff. Really cool mezcaleria. The vibe is really great. It was pretty busy when I popped in around 10PM on a Thursday. I left around 10:45 and it sure didn’t look like things would close up at 11. Amazing selection of mezcals and knowledgeable staff. Very nice courtyard to relax in while you drink. Offered me water at the end as well when I was done drinking, which I found responsible and courteous. Loved the drink as well.

Delicious and insightful, great environment and decor… but in all honesty it’s not really our cup of tea to pay such high prices for Mezcal. When the whole state offers such a big variety of it. Definitely worth a visit just wouldn’t recommend the higher priced Mezcal

Un lugar muy bohemio , muy orgánico con excelentes bebidas con un ambiente tranquilo para degustar mezcal, aquí podrás probar alguna serie de diferentes mezcales acompañado de una cerveza

Pasamos en la tarde en el horario que abren la cafeteria. Hemos preguntado si hacen affogato. La señora que estaba ahi atendiendo se veía un poco confundida, dice “es café con helado?” Le conteste que es una bola de helado con espresso. Nos contestó que si lo puede hacer y cuesta 80 pesos. Lo pedimos y nos trajeron un espresso con un pequeñisimo escurrido de helado. Fui a la barra preguntar qué fue eso. La señora contestó que “asi lo preparan, y que helado ya se había derretido porque estamos en un clima caluroso”. Me ofreció ponerme un escurrido de helado más. Aun asi no parecía nada a un affogato, estaba bien chafa, y cuando saliendo le comenté a la señora que no está bien eso lo que hace, me contestó cualquier cosa y dijo que le debemos 160 pesos por 2 de éstos. Le dije que es un robadero y que no vamos a regresar. Dijo “ah muy bien”. Cero atención al cliente, zero amor en la preparacion. Un gran gran gran dislike, no esperaba tan pésimo servicio de un lugar tan “nice”. UPD: gracias por la respuesta, pero no fue la cuestión de idioma: estábamos hablando español, y me entendió perfectamente. Fue totalmente la cuestión de actitud, pero les agradezco su amable respuesta y la solución que propusieron. Asi lo vamos a hacer, saludos UPD 2: se sucedió asi como nos respondieron: reembolsaron el dinero y invitaron cafes. Por cierto, la chica que trabaja los martes en la cafeteria es una maravilla - excelente atención, excelente todo. Una experiencia totalmente opuesta de la anterior. Vayan el martes :)
